lol… spent months and months trying to work with me on bug fixes, huh? We barely spoke ever since I handed control of the counterparty properties over to you, and I made it abundantly clear from the beginning that I would not run any version of counterparty where dispensers were changed against community consensus….. once you made it clear that you were forcing changes into counterparty, I simply kept my word that I would continue to run a version of counterparty which did not have changes forced into it

I also went on for many months and reported many many bugs on GitHub ( like the fact that MPA’s broke and the fact that you said MPMA has never had the ability to send memos until I prove that that was not the case)

If you’re going to say, lies, Adam , at least have links to back up your months and months of work with Jeremy bullshit…. I have plenty of GitHub issues that have been logged and are still open demonstrating my efforts to try to work with you to move things forward.

If you wanna keep your misleading messages up on counterparty.io under some misguided belief that you’re protecting users from losing funds (no one has ever lost funds on free wallet due to the fork) you’re more than welcome to…. However, this is another case of many members in the community speaking out and saying enough is enough and can’t we just move past all of this drama., and even I have said once counterparty.io is updated to remove the bullshit fund token scan.io will be updated…. However, you want to hold your guns and continue to say that it’s all me and that I’m the problem..

I've made it abundantly clear that if ppl want the Message from the top of tokenscan (the most popular counterparty explorer) removed, it is easy to do so as soon as counterparty.io removes their FUD about ppl losing funds on tokenscan and Freewallet (the most popular / used Counterparty wallet)..... Numerous people have reached out to me about this, I keep directing them back to Adam.... its clear from his messages that he has his own viewpoints as more important than the community views, and that he will continue to try and push forward with Counterparty updates and growing the community rather than just removing his FUD messages on counterparty.io.

Truly disappointing... its been almost a year, would think that he could grow up and remove the annoying FUD messages about tokenscan.io and freewallet.io from counterparty.io (few visit that site anyway)... and in turn I would remove the fork messaging from tokenscan.io (still get 80k+ unique users per month visiting it)..... I'm content building on XChain platform and focusing my energies elsewhere... and have said i'm open to removing fork messaging from tokenscan once counterparty.io is updated (they put up misleading FUD first).... just sad that almost a year later, still one dev is in control of everything, a year of work has been done and the CP community has shrunk, not grown as promised, and he refuses to even make any efforts to resolve issues and remove "confusing" messages in the interest of the community.

And this is who is in charge of leading Counterparty into the future... someone who's vision is to force what he feels is best for the community on the community, throw out and disregard 10+ years of updates and community driven changes (while he was busy chasing VC funds in his private company), and after a 1.5 years of work, still cant admit that maybe his viewpoints might not be in the best interest of the community... I truly weep for the future of Counterparty, as it continues to flounder and all the promises of "this new feature will onboard tons of users" and bring Counterparty back to the forefront, fall on deaf ears and no community.

Remember when Joe Looney said that stamps was shitting in the sink and that there should be a fee on numerics and organized a pole to try to get consensus on whether or not there should be a fee on numeric and that consensus came back as about 90-95% people saying yes they wanna fee on numerics, yet J-Dog didn’t feel comfortable, pushing that into counterparty because there wasn’t enough consensus for him?

Everyone remember when there was an actual fork two years ago, and J-dog asked Joe Looney if he would step into the position of a developer and help carry some of the burden that I have been carrying alone for many many years and simply vote. Yay or nay on changes based on how he felt? Remember how during the fork Joe Looney absolutely refused to engage with J-Dog, and the only reason counterparty was still able to move forward was because the other core developers at least had level heads and were able to come to a agreement with J-Dog where he called off the fork?

Anyone remember J-Dog trying to handover properties to Joe Looney and others on the counterparty core team and they all refused and said they didn’t want the responsibility or problems that came along with running and hosting counterparty for many years , but they were very happy to continue to let me carry that burden, even though I had made it abundantly clear that it was unfair and that the burden should be shared among all the core developers.

You like to try to make yourself sound like a really smart white night Joe while making fun of anyone who happens to have a different opinion than you , but many of us see right through your bullshit, and see you.

By the way, the large majority of the counterparty community still uses freewallet and tokenscan so it’s pretty clear the community has chosen which wallets and explorers they want to use and is continuing to use those wallets and explorers.

By the way, no one is using counterparty classic because I left the default in free wallet (the one which you all claim is unsafe and has lost users funds and yet that is entirely false no one has lost funds using free wallet) pointing at counterparty 2.0.

I’m perfectly happy building xchain platform as I have been for the past many months, I have moved on from counterparty, however, that doesn’t mean that I still don’t have love in my hearts for the community here that I spent over 10 years helping to build and understand this technology…. It is truly sad that the new leader feels his way is the best way, and would rather ride the community into the ground so that his opinion can be the right one rather than listen to community members who clearly are sick of all the drama and would prefer to just have bullshit FUD messages removed, and let everybody focus back on just building.

Feel free to keep the messages on counterparty.io up as long as you want there Adam, I still have the bulk of the community using free wallet and over 80,000 unique users visiting tokenscan.io to get their counterparty data every month, so really you’re only hurting yourself more and your chances of clearing up confusion and gaining additional users and adoption…. Versus the handful of users who go to counterparty.io and see your misleading messages and still continue to use freewallet, and tokenscan…… I would think you would’ve already learned this lesson as the numerous interviews that you have done over the past year all of the interviewers have been using freewallet and tokenscan to display things and interact with counterparty and none that I have seen have used horizon explorer or wallets as their preferred tools of choice.

It’s funny to me that they think I’m still stuck on counterparty and I’m trying to fight for control of counterparty or some bullshit narrative like that…. I’ve moved on and my focus for the last year has been building on X chain platform…. But they have their head stuck in the sand so much that all they can see is me as an enemy, and they would rather continue to keep me as an enemy rather than focus on listening to the community…… it’s been over a year since Adam forked his channel away and yet still only has 300+ users in there meanwhile, this channel continues to grow in users.

It just really sucks that this is the state of counterparty after 10+ years and the “ smart guys” in charge of leading would rather continue to stick their head in the sands and say nothing is wrong. Everything will be great in the future, add no real usable functionality, build the new tooling that users want to use, and continue to have hope that things will be brighter in the future.

The big turning point for me was when Adam took on VC funds and then failed to mention it to the community at all and then got hyper. Defensive and rage quit this channel when I asked him about it….. nothing wrong with taking on VC funds and getting paid for your work however something is 100% wrong with not being transparent to the community about a possible conflict of interest in a supposedly community driven project….

Pretty funny to me that Joe’s talking about how tokens scan sensors certain tokens…. I only sensor assets which are scams or can mislead people into losing funds….. over the year there have been a handful of tokens which will airdrop tokens into a user wallet and then update the token description to point to a fake counter wallet login screen, hoping to trick users to log into those wallets and give up their wallet passphrases….. Joe had no problem with me blocking those items to protect the community.

The Dog asset in question is specifically one that stack created use my image without my permission and then went ahead and said that he was going to scam people into thinking that they were contributing to counterparty classic by purchasing this token …. So yeah since I’m not involved in that token and I didn’t say it was OK to use my image and I’m not OK with people being misled and losing funds. I blocked that token too.

Of the 400,000+ tokens that exist I think I have blocked less than 10 , and always only to protect users from being misled and losing funds🤷🏻‍♂️

I did a 35 gallon water swap today on one of my larger tanks the 175 gallon one…. So I figured I’d share what’s going on at feeding time since everybody seems to come out and show off during that time.

I got to see two of my pom-pom crabs tonight, which is pretty rare

Yep, I heard Adam complaining and blaming me for lack of adoption due to the banner on token scan so I simply offered to take that banner down and replace it with one that simply says you’re viewing the data for counterparty 2.0 or counterparty classic and remove the red Fork warning….. and in exchange, I expected the counterparty.io website to be updated to remove the misleading message on tokenscan.io and freewallet.io losing user funds….. It only took about a month of people asking why the messaging was still up and continuing to apply pressure to Adam for him finally to get frustrated enough to create a poll to poll the community and what do you know…. The poll indicates a 2/3 majority would like to remove the misleading FUD messages on counterparty.io.

Once I see the counterparty.io website is updated to remove the misleading information then I will update token scan.io within the following 24 hours to remove the red Fork warning message👍🏻

Ive been around since 2021 and I've never felt insecure with Freewallet. And I've never seen one person tell their fund were stolen from Freewallet due to it's functionality.

I remember there were easy fixes if worked together but seemed one sided

I’ve observed the drama from afar and it’s obvious that you’ve been willing to work with them, but they just seem to want to monopolize it. Either way, it’s been fun learning about counterparty, freewallet, and “playing with my rarepepes” 😁

I too wish Adam and I could’ve worked together to build a better counterparty…. But he went his own way with forcing changes without consensus on dispensers and villainizing me for speaking out against it….. so that fork in the road has already taken place and I don’t think we’ll ever be back on the same page again…. Best we can hope for is for the fud on both sides to go away and just let Adam do what he thinks is best for counterparty and the community and time will determine if he had the right idea or not…. So far a year and a half in I’m not seeing a ton of improvements and the improvements that he has added a little to no traction….. so I’m not hopeful…. But supposedly he’s funding his venture himself for the most part so it’s only costing him and his investors money out of his own pocket….. which is fine with me

ugh.... and this is why it is a bad idea to rely on a 3rd party service in a software stack like Counterparty.... previously we had addrindexrs and it worked fine, yes it took up some disk space, but disk space is cheap.... the core devs in their infinite wisdom removed addrindexrs from the counterparty stack and replaced it with a dependency on a 3rd party service electrs.... so now, generating CP transactions rely on an external service not under the CP stack's control to generate transactions

I mentioned this was a bad idea when Adam and team were talking about replacing addrindexrs.... but it was ignored.... YAY, counterparty has a smaller disk footprint ... BOO, we now rely on a 3rd party external service to generate transactions.... previously, all that was needed to generate a CP transaction was a CP node which ran everything from bitcoin to addrindexrs to counterparty... now we replaced a component with an external dependency

</end annoyed rant> 😛

hopefully blockstream.info never goes down lest Counterparty be unable to generate transactions... of course, you can run your own electrs server... but then, why the hell replace addrindexrs with electrs and not make it a part of the stack itself?... questions that should have been asked, but weren't and now we got this type of dependency on a single website staying up in order to generate CP txs 🤮

guess I gotta bust out electrum and import a private key and send BTC through some wallet other than a counterparty-compatible wallet... since they all now rely on electrs 🙄️️️️️️

Reasons why stamps n spamming the utxo set under some “unpruneable” nonsense is bad for bitcoin…. They took it a step further by burning keys, forever bloating the utxo set and making it more difficult to run a node (forcing higher memory requirements), thereby centralizing bitcoin even more…. Kinda the opposite of what bitcoin is all about🤷🏻‍♂️

FYI... thanks to @DOGESTYLEEE pointing out some issues that he was having creating a dispenser... I identified that Counterparty 2.0 has lost some functionality and users are no longer able to specify a subasset name when creating a dispenser.... even tho they always have been able to in the past, and the current documentation indicates that users should be able to specify subasset name.... I've created an issue for Adam and team to respond to... we'll see if they do the right thing and fix the loss of functionality, or take the easy route and just update the API documentation to indicate users have to specify the numeric asset name now for subassets.

Really makes me wonder WTF their test suite with 100% coverage is testing... when there is loss of functionality like this and their test suite doesn't catch it

It seems like a "test suite" should be as simple as having 1 person who knows how to use counterparty, and having them try all the things for an hour before release

that is how I did testing beforee a release.... it was time consuming, but you thouroughly test the area which you did code changes to... as the dev, your accutely aware of what code you changed and how it could effect the functionality, so you test the shit out of the thing that changed.... here are a couple examples of things javier and I released.. and you can see in the pull request there is a bunch of testing and links to the transactions where the testing took place, etc..... test, find something that is not working, go back and fix it, test everything again and again..... automated testing is nice, but quite often it can miss things, especially if you dont write a test case for every single error/check in the code

btw... almost done with the xchain indexer... got swaps (swapping one token for another) working... just got orders and dispensers to finish up next week, then on to writing the xchain platform test suite... which will have a test case for every single error check in a function

ie... every one of those "Verify X blah blah blah" checks will have a test in the test suite which makes sure that the code is continuing to function, return the correct status on a transaction, and make the appropriate changes to the database..... the indexer will hae its own test suite, and Javier already the test suite for the encoder and decoder working.... there is a benefit to having all the components being separated, your able to test each one thouroughly, and also able to wrap the code up into portable modules (like wrapping up the encoder library into a standalone library which can be used by wallet devs without the need to run a node to generate and encode transactions) 🙂
