I think what may have happened is prior to jdog changing the prefix dispenses with the dispense message were invalid because it would see the message as counterparty but the contents were invalid so the entire tx became invalid

But now it checks the opreturn, doesn’t see a counterparty message at all and continues with the dispense

So with regard to dispenses the replay protection actually made it unprotected lol

no, the issue was that dispenses werent labeled as counterparty txs as is the convention for all other counterparty txs, this causes issues going forward such as the replay protection/unprotection in counterparty classic. the addrindex issue is that it became a consensus critical part of the stack when the software itself is non-deterministic which has the potential to create accidental forks between nodes (as well as adds another piece of software that has to be maintained, etc)

Yeah it’s a weird trick I’ve never liked particularly given that there’s no indication that this is happening. Was funny about a year ago when TEST got the stamps green banner and lost its art temporarily because we used “test” in our JSON.

I’ve mentioned this about Horizon as well. I understand the need to display art which is the social consensus for a token. But there should be an indication (like a small icon or something) when something is displayed from an offchain source.
