I went to recover my freewallet mobile wallet on a hardware device and found that freewallet gave me a non-bip39 seed word. I know only the first four letters matter but I can’t recover because it is failing. Anyone know if freewallet uses something other than bip39?

I still have access to the freewallet wallet, and verified the seed words live from the freewallet app and the github bip39 wordlist.

I know this is opposite of what you are trying to do but I think it's only a one way thing for now. Can move xcp assets from a HW created address, can't put xcp address onto a HW

Thanks for that quick reply and good read. Good info there. I understand that the hardware wallets won’t show the assets and such, I was hoping to still be able to manage btc with the physical device and HODL the assets until later. The seed word freewallet gave me when creating the wallet has 3/4 of the first letters matching the bip list but not the fourth letter.

ok well. for the most part, Counterparty does not use bip39 currently. However, that is not the case with EverdreamSoft products. otherwise you can export the full private key to use elsewhere... if you are unable to get that from freewallet, then use vanilla

Thanks guys @carsonated & @krostue I’ll keep trying to figure this out and let you know what I come up with. I’ll probably just use the private key and recover to a desktop then transfer all to a new wallet, I was trying to avoid all of that drama because my hardware wallet only imports with seed words and is validating the word as I enter them meaning I can not proceed. I havent tried recovering with another btc client. I assume a wallet created by freewallet mobile is recoverable in another client like electrum desktop. I’m still confused about why freewallet game me a non-bip-39 word, counterparty has something to do with that somehow?

Thats funny, I tripped over that wallet for the first time yesterday when looking into blockchain games. Are there any good blockchain games? Sog seems to have an interesting aura to it.

counterparty words were developed before bip39 and have not been updated. the word lists are different and the way it encodes is different. even if you use the same 12 words, the public key will be different
