Alright Pepes, I have a unique situation, have not gotten any clear direction from God via prayer, and thought to gather some fren data.
BLUF: I have acquired / negotiated a tough decision.
Option 1: I accepted a new, virtual job. Saves gas money (70 mi / day) and time (~1.5 hours / day). Job is more in my wheelhouse (satellite system safety). SCIF work, no phones or anything all day.
Option 2: My current employer asked me “what can we do to keep you?” I costed out all of that gas and time and said, give me a 17.5% raise. I think the crazy bastards are going to do it (will likely undercut that by 3%). But I would still have to get up early and drive every day. Job is not in my wheelhouse, but I can learn via firehose / ass pain (software safety). Job has had no training and I have no clue what they want from me, in spite of me asking and asking.
So, take a smaller raise and have more unpaid time for whatever. Or take the money. I am honestly torn. -
Funny I just left my previous company and started the WFH deal it’s actually amazing I haven’t had to put on pants or shoes yet kek. Honestly though with the connected world you don’t need to drive and sit in a box all day the system created all this bullshit to further shackle us. IMO be free take the WFH deal have some peace and spend more time with your family.
