Counterparty risk is any situation where there is a risk of default or non fulfilment of a trade by one or more parties.
In the specific case of Dispensers, they can be front run and closed out with a higher fee.
So if a bad actor sets one up to sell XCP or another Counterparty protocol asset for a large sum of BTC, then monitors it for incoming BTC with a low to medium fee, they can pay a high to very high fee to close the dispenser ahead of the dispense.
They keep the asset being dispensed and the Bitcoin.

This Counterparty risk does NOT exist with the Counterparty Dex decentralised exchange protocol which is an order matching protocol for all asset pairs on Counterparty, including XCP to other assets.
So the Counterparty asset exchange protocol itself is a trust-less protocol that eliminates counterparty risk. -
Dispensers are a different beast, because a BTC send is a one-way non-recourse operation.
So you’re sending payment principal as a payload, that can be lost.
Not just a small transaction fee that could be wasted if someone closes a Counterparty pair order ahead of you. -

Ok so on freewallet, the "exchange" tab is executing transactions using the Counterpart Dex protocal and the dispenser tab is using the above mentioned dispenser method which is a one way transaction and can be "hacked" by someone pulling a quick one and closing out with a higher fee first

Counterparty protocol is a set of rules that are defined and executed in a code base on Counterparty servers that scan for and parse correctly formed Counterparty protocol payloads on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Asset states and balances are decoded on those Counterparty servers into relational database tables and the state data is made available for consumption via APIs and operational execution via interfaces like GUI wallets. -

An example of a Counterparty Dex Trade.
In early January I put up a Bid/Ask offering to give one CHEECHPEPE in exchange for receiving one CHONGPEPE.
My CHEECHPEPE balance was deprecated by one and the order (offer) appeared on the Counterparty Dex.
Waiting for a Counterparty to pay the fee and put up a CHONGPEPE on the other side of the trade.
If someone had done so, as soon as their transaction had confirmed and been parsed by the Counterparty servers, I would have one new CHONGPEPE and the other party would have my CHEECHPEPE.
Orders can stay up for several months (I’ve forgotten the default expiry time in FreeWallet) until Matched, Cancelled (initiator can pay another fee to cancel and get their offered assets back) or Expired (assets revert back). -

Depends entirely on the sats/byte of your Bitcoin fee paid.
There are a number of variables that go into determining the byte size of your order.
Very hard to know this specifically in advance.
So we just pay a medium or high fee and hope we don’t have too much dust in our wallet :)
Biggest factor is the fragmentation of Utxos in your wallet.
If you have a very small BTC balance made up of dust (lots of tiny utxos) then you’ll need to be paying a fee at the highest end of the mempool to get an acceptable sats/byte fee ratio for miners to pick up your transaction. -

A Call to Return to the Land
This video covers an immense amount of ground.. perhaps too much. It's sole purpose (for the moment) is to foster fruitful discussion down these paths, and hopefully help spur some new types of thinking - I don't think we have a great deal of time left. I'm under no illusions that my own words here will immediately kickstart all these grand goals.. nor are they yet concrete enough to be pursued, just yet. It's my hope that they might play some part in eventually bringing capable (and devoted) minds together to properly flesh these things out. I've done the easy part, like an idealistic child, and set down some broad strokes, only to help get the ball moving.. seeking only to be concrete and specific enough to paint this broader picture, but not so much that others can't use their own imagination/vision to effectively 'fill in the blanks', and better expand on the core ideas. It's also a bit redundant in parts - I really wanted to more deeply 'imprint' a few concepts that I consider most important. The audio quality isn't great in portions - no more recording all audio next to a crackling wood stove. It also feels just a bit scattered, as I attempted to cover several individual topics that deserve their own short novel with a few brief passing remarks. But none of this matters a great deal. Again, no matter what type of discussion this video inspires, it'll have served it's purpose in causing one to *think* on these topics - to imagine, envision, conceptually conjure - and I have no doubts that doing so is the first important step, down a potentially beautiful and powerful path. I look forward to all constructive comments, critiques, feedback.. Had something similar happen to me not long ago, i was in local spiritual group and i found out that leader was exploiting most naive and trustful members, tryed to warn them, but was opposed by most members(with some nuances but in general so)
It's like in the matrix, if you push them hard their internal agent smith wakes up and push you back, even if they are wrong

When I first saw bitcoin I thought it was a scam, but I immediately did about 30 minutes of research to find out it wasn’t a scam.
It also took me about a few hours of research to realize most if not all altcoins were scams.
Same with vaccines, if people would just spend 5 minutes of research looking at the ingredients in them they wouldn’t take them, thus saving their own lives.
Ignorance (refusing to look into the matter and think for oneself) can cost one a fortune and in some cases their lives. -

Cant remember when i exactly find out about bitcoin, but remember that when it dropped to $3k i was seriously considering to buy mining equip, was almost ready but didnt, since then i bought lots of scam coin, some on icos, was losing money straight for 6 years on it, i really cant remember even one time i made anything on it except losing😂im like living defenition of pleb losing money on shitcoin ahahaha *tears*
And only when i got tired of losing it slowly started to come to me, about inflation, about satoshi, whole picture started to make sens
Some stubborn people like me learn it hard way unfortunately😔thats probably why its taking us so long
