yes and no.
Validators are selected via a pseudorandom process through RANDAO. Because RANDAO is part of the infrastructure in the Ethereum ecosystem, the basic premise is that at every epoch, the Beacon Chain utilizes RANDAO to assign block proposers to each slot and shuffles validators around to different committees. They’re also planning to implement something called the verifiable delay function to mitigate against manipulating how block proposers get chosen.
But ultimately, and from an engineer perspective, it also doesn’t seem like you need overly complex systems to solve real world problems. But that seems to be what ethereum is steadily moving towards - a very complex system that only a handful of people fully understand or can adequately challenge (improve). -

That's a deep discussion, in my digs I have become convinced that humans are the only species on this planet that has two major genetic subgroups. Geneticists call these "r-selected and K-selected". All other species are either one or the other, but humans are split into those two (it's almost like there are two different species 👀)
To simplify I call them collectivists and individualists, if you look through that lens, many behaviors start to make sense. Some people are just inclined towards blindly trusting "the state", and because they tend to be incompetent and lazy, they seek someone powerful that can force the productive/inovative people to work for them, so they can eat too. That's communism/fascism (2 sides of the same socialist/marxist coin)
Take any other social issue, and you'll see the alignment with those two categories. It may be simplified, and the accuracy is not 100% (in nature, it never is) but it brings clarity. -

Lots about china, but I haven't seen any that work at the highest level.
