Ok, can't quickly find a formula to compare LTC hash to BTC hash, numberwise LTC has 422TH/s, if that would be a 1:1 with BTC, it would mean just 4 decent BTC miners, even if the ratio is 1:100, it's still no comparison.
So even if the software is sound, there's no one protecting the funds (and more sadly probably, no one to try to steal from or corrupt the network, due to lack of interest)
I get your general point, but we're on the battlefield and ideals are not always possible.
Personally I see Bitcoin as the only chance of freeing myself. If I'm wrong, Litecoin won't save me, nothing will.
So it's an "all in" deal, but I agree it's not ideal, and I'm not in this sitiuation of my own free will. -
