basically - the nodes are the backbone

the more nodes, the more decentralized

the stronger everything is

let's say you and i each ran a node and we were the only 2 on the system

then i had a power outage due to bad weather

then your node is processing everything, and that's terribly centralized

so the more nodes, the safer the network generally and the more "secure" if you want to look at in that sense
