oh... trust me... it has downtime... I used to rely on chain.so for getting BTC balances on xchain.io.... had to switch after their API started acting funky.... the website is up most times, but the API will randomly cut out or return invalid/blank responses..... could be things have improved over the last couple years..... I stopped using them a while ago

currently using blocktrail.com's API for BTC balance info.... once the next CP release is out, we will be using indexd, so I can start getting UTXO and balance data from that directly rather than relying on an external API/source for BTC balance info 🙂

Probably best to wait for the next CP release for this.... it will contain Multi-Peer-Multi-Assets sends (MPMA) and will allow you to send tokens to many people all in the same tx.

So i’ve recently started to develop a minimal pure python Virtual Machine tailored specifically for counterparty. I’m starting this thread to keep note of development and design decisions, and also to get input from the community regarding what should the VM do. FAQ Why not use EVM? EVM was designed with ethereum blocktimes and specifics in mind. CP has already a lot of groundwork regarding tokens, bets and a lot of useful functions that don’t need to be recoded in a smart contract. Isn’t...

Nope.... it is still a ways off... John is focused on more immediate needs like segwit, mpma, updating to current version of bitcoind, getting us off the addrindex patch which we currently depend on and moving us to indexd, etc.... VM is prolly a ways out... still just a cool idea, tho possible with enough time/energy 🙂

"2 weeks" 🙂 ...... its ready when its ready... CP has always been about putting out releases when they are ready and stable and not before..... sucks not having tons of releases put out with lots of new features... but, CP is stable BECAUSE everything is tested so well and rock solid when it is put out..... I believe we will have the next release put out in the next month or so... depends on Johns schedule.

John is the primary dev at this time with repo access. Anyone is able to contribute to CP development by submitting Counterparty Improvement Proposals (CIPS) and/or by making pull requests....... however, access to the actual repo is tightly controlled and restricted to people who have a deep understanding of CP and the trust of the community.... much the same way that the Bitcoin repo is maintained... anyone can work on the code, but only a few select individuals with technical expertise review and merge the code.
