this was back when we still used film -
so with ER patients we walk the films over to the Radiologist and slap them up on the viewer. he looks at me and says, what is the object? I go, rule out foreign body, i reply. He goes, there’s nothing to see, nothing is showing up. he goes, did you ask him what the foriegn body is? i reply, no, i figured i would just see it and then know. but nothing. we couldn’t see anything so i go back to the patient and i ask him, what’s inside you that we are trying to find cause we don’t see anything. He respond “a jelly donut” or at least that’s what i heard and repeated it back to him, and he goes, “no, a jelly dildo”. i walk back to the radiologist and tell him

turns out on the upright KUB we could see a small air pocket along the diaphragm. he had ripped a hole in his bowel!

this is super dangerous as infections can start rapidly in this space as there is no way the body can deploy a fix to this region
