I kept reading first 200 msg and then when I got back there are like 500 unread msg's. chat have never been so busy. All I can say Oliver and Skept are legit as fuck. So Oliver perhaps didn't tripple check all before all deal happenned, human error. Skept spent lot of money, If I would spend 30eth on something like that I wouldn't give up. There were no Big red flag signs of hack on particualr address. I am in crypro 10+ years, in xcp almost 7 years. I check each deal but nobody is perfect. People lately sweeping their original wallets to new ones and its even hard to keep track to OG old addreses 😄 That thief could easaly sell assets on dex and I would buy them( thats why it is DEX and not CEX). I am personally have no time tripple check each tx I make but I try. Imagine new people coming here and found out they bought something that was stolen ages before and asked to give back??? I was scammed before and suckeced it up as it is part of the game. I am really interested how the scammer got privete keys, asking as worried about mine? As some stupid advice of game plan.. I would try sell all assets for like 45 eth. give original owner 15eth as good gesture and keep my investment. But going after those two guys as wich hunt is stupid, you look stupid yourself. You can say laws, court and etc.. but just from normal human view.. they did nothing wrong. Ok, I said it, now you can come after me. P.s. scammer got money and community got fucked and divided in opinions now. we lost. P.s.2 lets say I have deal with known pepe og. I know his original address but dont know that he is hacked like last last week. All the sudden he is selling me some pepes for good price. fuck, no problems I will take a deal. And NO way I will pay back something if people say "Oh this wallet was hacked". Who said it? blockchain is blockchain and we all can see things there. I have firends on all sides of this argument but I wanna say that Longbranch needs to calm down and keep cool head.

@Skept0x "snakes are gonna snake" as a reply to you was intemperate and ill considered.
I withdraw that as a reply to you and I apologise for replying to you directly with those words.
1. A serial scammer continues to plague this community for well over a year, running extensive and clever scams to get assets from multiple victims.
2. Various buyers continue dealing with this scammer, either directly or through @ollieblockchain, buying from the scammer and rewarding him for his serial thefts with hundreds of thousands of dollars, without doing any due diligence on the source of the assets.
3. This scammer has been involved in multiple scams and shady projects and @ollieblockchain even after you know what a despicable character that person is, you as a broker showed up in the middle of a deal with him helping to move the stolen assets.
You've been part of this community since the start. You know your way around Xchain as well as anyone here. You have full access to search chat history and see the same things that I see and that @c0rnh0li0 sees.
How does that keep happening and what lessons are you willing and able to learn from that?
4. Skept @Skept0x You have tabled the clear position that you were buying assets at a fair market value, without knowing they were stolen.
I unreservedly apologise to you @Skept0x for any imputation that you were knowingly involved in trading stolen assets, as you're correct, I have no direct evidence that you were aware you were buying stolen assets.
This however does not satisfy me personally (others have varying opinions) that you are being a responsible buyer.
My anger stems from a total lack of care and diligence being taken by people in all the OTC deals buying assets off this scammer.
Not researching, just looking a gift horse in the mouth and buying stolen assets without taking time to ensure they are clean.
As @c0rnh0li0 said, it took him two minutes to identify that those were swept from a two year ago active wallet, that didn't give you any pause to ask around?
6. This scammer is a cancer in our community and as long as people keep feeding the scammer, the scams will not stop.
I was very tired at the end of a very long day, was about to sleep when I saw @LongbranchBear post and knew that I had to table this issue of stolen assets publicly.
I am sorry for the clumsiness I exhibited in how I did it.
I should probably have slept on it and waited for a new day and a fresh perspective.
7. There must be zero tolerance for scammers thieves and it is my view that everybody has a responsibility to take the greatest possible care in all dealings to ensure that scammers and thieves are never rewarded.
I have posted publicly multiple times on this issue as everyone knows... I've posted lists and addresses of stolen assets, yet people still buy from marked and pinned post dispensers, for their own convenience without regard to the victims who lost their assets.
People can do the work to track back what came from where, but choose not to, because they put the allure of the treasure ahead of any other consideration.
I don't have all the answers, I'm not any higher authority on this issue than anyone else, beyond having invested many hours of my time into attempting to keep this community as safe as possible. - 30 December 2023 (419 messages)

Various buyers continue dealing with the scammer through me? I don’t know of any other deal that i’d brokered that were stolen assets. Possibly it was someone impersonating me that happens a lot to yourself @rarepepetrader and to others
-
I remain deeply saddened by it all and I regret that I am not able to rise to a level of leadership sufficient to ensure a safe trading environment across our community, it's not possible in the nature of decentralised blockchain assets as @TomiDevim correctly points out
There are some incredibly smart and clever people of goodwill in this community.
Perhaps there are people who can pick up this issue from here and work to achieve some kind of address checking registry and make it available in a bot at some point. -
You don't know because you don't look? You don't look because you don't care?
-
No I just know that most people I’ve dealt with are known people, I was very skeptical at first when this guy Dmd me selling these assets. That’s why I asked for proof and he sent me the xcp, I even asked Skept and introduced this seller to Skept to also double check. I do check and when I did check i could see it was swept from an address that was 7 years old, I did search that address on telegram snd didn’t see anything being this address https://xchain.io/address/1EcsAJ1LdZw3NyAzNWhgeYkh3ky2gqsAt5

-
If you can't, watch for it to come back around because it always does
-

-
Okay, let's treat this as an open investigation without any accusations at this point.
Step us through what happened with this address https://xchain.io/address/19kfnkV9NngBy1WNjNVxLHBLPKQmDhMQb4
What was the sequence of events?
Assets were swept to @Skept0x using the 0.5 XCP you supplied.
@Skept0x has stated he asked you to provide that XCP
Some assets were also sent to an address known to be controlled by the scammer.
Skept, you mentioned a "TG" - Who is TG? -
I’m not admitting I knew that they were stolen assets as I didn’t. I’d admit I made a mistake brokering these even though I didn’t know they were stolen assets.
-
Lame as fuck

@Skept0x as for saying the victim can buy back from you for what you paid... what if that was their nest egg, with no capital to do that?
You didn't do DD on the assets, that's on you.
Do we want to act like the normal rules of civilised society don't apply here, just because it's blockchain? -
I was approached by someone by the name of Sog Ogz, I got screenshots from the conversation. But the account is deleted now, he asked me if I knew any satoshicard buyers as I was posting about at the time looking for a seller. I asked for him to prove he owned it as I was very sceptical he sent me the XCP to 126VuKw3LTUWgmYx94TtSqfjiQooRdpva6
https://xchain.io/tx/2526368
I Dmd Skept to say he’s legit and has proven he owned the satoshicard and introduced him to Skept. We made a group chat and they started chatting, the first deal we did was satoshicard and we did it in parts, then the seller said he was thinking of selling all his cards, and that’s when I supplied the xcp to Skept, and Skept was sold the private keys. but at the time TG/JackJack/vanguard swept the wallet. I didn’t communicate with Jack Jack about this deal at all, but he did dm me saying why am I trying to get involved in his deal, I sent you that screenshot privately @rarepepetrader I can post here if you’re wanting. Skept didn’t even end up with the other assets, he got the satoshicard but ended up paying more as he never received the other assets as they were swept by Jack Jack. -
@Skept0x is a victim here as well for having bought assets that are stolen and not knowing it, if you were in this situation and had spent 30-40e on NFTs would you give them back? You can’t expect the buyer to miss out because the original owner got scammed. I’ve been scammed before like most people here or have lost assets in some way. But I’ve learnt to accept it and can’t expect them to come back to me ?
-
-
I would give them back. I wouldn't want to be near them. If you can spend that on jpegs you can afford the hit. Take it
-
Okay, we can now see @Skept0x is a victim in a trade you facilitated, and that you say you said was legit.
Is that where we are at now?
"I Dmd Skept to say he’s legit"
Please do better than that in future. -
Well it was legit in the sense the seller was a legit seller selling something that he owned, I did my research on the addresses and couldn’t find any posts about it. So what am I supposed to do? How do you know they were stolen assets the address that was 9 years old isn’t public anywhere ?
-
Like they did have ownership of the assets that’s what the main concern I had, and once I had that verified and knew the address he was saying was his, I did my research on the addresses and didn’t see any posts or people saying don’t interact with this address etc
-
Did you ask when they first got into SOGs?
Did you ask how they acquired those assets?
Did you ask what other SOG OG's could vouch for them?
Did you go back on chain on the address to see its early trades and ask any other known SOG traders who that account belonged to?
Did you post the address in Counterparty group or EDS to request public confirmation of the bona fides of the seller? -
That's the type of DD you do on six figure deals.
As I said, please do better than that in future. -
Another question...
Did you ask why they were selling assets from a freshly swept address? -
-
-
I did ask about when he got involved he said like 7-8 years ago, we’ve seen new accounts that come online after years of being offline, like the guy who sold those Rarepepe nakamoto’s for cheap on dex. I didn’t ask other people as he already proved he owned the assets by sending me the xcp, this is definitely an extreme list of things to do. But I’ll try and do these in the future, since this deal I’ve chosen not to interact with new accounts I don’t recognise.

I humbly state the moment you saw tg/vanguard/jackjack you should have removed yourself and cancelled participation in brokering a deal

-
Would you knowingly buy an entire wallet you knew was stolen?
-
the solution is to freeze out traffickers of stolen and exploited goods based on community standards
-
Last thing I will say tonight.. you brave in comments here, but I have met most of those guys in person and and its not as all cleer cut as you state here. Longbranch fuck off and chill. It takes time to resolve such a complicated cases. You are like dog barking by lonely house and seeking attention.

eventually they will end up with nothing but untradable goods

The only issue seems to be people upset they got to this deal first 🤣. If you are a dumb ass and don’t know how to keep your key safe then who’s to say someone was scammed? Whos the ultimate arbiter of truth? Permissionless means zero trust so honestly “stolen” assets are just teachable moments
-
"knowingly" is a key word. The point is that would I have done the due diligence? Probably not

Exactly. Why some sort of deal that makes the person who it was originally stolen from feel whole.
Without their blessing, you’re selling stolen assets.
You may have been scammed yourself, but selling stolen assets to the next person is equal scamming -

still confused, was there a scam or not a scam?
-
-
-
everyone went to sleep

If I have to use a broker to secure me some cards I sure hope they don't trust some random guy that is not known, that sends 0.5xcp from address to prove he owns the assets, when the address has no history other than a recent sweep, as generally that's a lot of red flags, of a scammer, which would most likely scam the btc/eth from me also, I mean not much of a broker service if that's the results, trust in any pleb
-
Yh, and that seller would be an og right
-
Easily noticeable
-
On the other hand gotta be more careful with ya assets, and there's not much u can do, scams in real world and here
-
the question is, what is the scam
-
I guess if ur spending 30eth you are pretty familiar with what you are buying lol, or if ur a good broker also
-
-
It is about morality though
-
-
the question still is, what's the scam
