It is a shame tbh. I've done so many p2p trades where I just send the asset (or the asset is sent to me) and then we settle up. Never had any issues, but I definitely understand that its easy to be scammed this way.

There’s a solid group of around 250 to 300 long term members in Counterparty where this is absolutely fine, for direct swaps and settlements up to reasonably high values.
But if you haven’t been here fairly consistently for seven to eight years, you don’t necessarily know who the trusted parties are. -
