there will be levels of your BTC research. we are all entering in different phases. I came about through alt coins (rugpulls) but others are entering through NFTs. perhaps the most important basic thing you can do is convert trash (Fiat, gold, trump NFTs (kidding... but seriously)) and convert that into BTC.
on ramps for that process will be strike, swan, coinbase, etc. these are the easiest because you link a checking account and instantly convert. then you want to get into a self custody cold hardware (trezor) or hot wallet (i.e. free wallet) where you own the keys. if you buy BTC on Coinbase and then leave the coins there... you haven't done enough research and you'll learn quickly (refer to ftx or blockfi). it only takes 1 lesson there.
from there, you can get more advanced such as self sovereigned maxi that includes running a node or setting up a seed signer /multi sig wallets. the power is in your hands!!! and no one else's!!! that's how Satoshi intended for it to be -
