Hello all - was annoying CP folks with horizon questions and they directed me here 😛
  • @rabbidfly #5700 04:30 PM, 05 Sep 2025
I want to issue a fake rare via some gamification on a laddered price point (lots of 10 or so) - but I also want to use the latest tech - should I use the mint feature here or just the swaps? I could use dispensers easily but I never liked the lack of txn atomicity with them.
  • @rabbidfly #5701 04:31 PM, 05 Sep 2025
I also considered emblem vaults but the cost is too damned high
  • @rabbidfly #5702 04:32 PM, 05 Sep 2025
Oh crap - there is also the xcp dex - wow almost forgot that dinosaur- horizon have a dex to replicate that or is it the atomic swap feature?
  • @rabbidfly #5703 04:33 PM, 05 Sep 2025
Sry for all the questions- tryna fix the tech stack so I can inform my fellow fake rare frogs 🐸
  • @rabbidfly #5704 04:35 PM, 05 Sep 2025
Knew I had one more question- we support sub assets?
  • @rabbidfly #5705 05:08 PM, 05 Sep 2025
also odd that i can import my "1" address in horizon extension, but on horizon.market i cannot connect with it - just the 'bc1' addys
  • @rabbidfly #5706 05:08 PM, 05 Sep 2025
you guys use 'leather' wallet in all the videos? why not horizon extension? did i install a fake? :)
  • @rabbidfly ↶ Reply to #5705 #5707 05:34 PM, 05 Sep 2025
i think it's because the horizon market can only use segwit - wow ok - i have to move all assets from the legacy p2pkh addy to the segwit addy
  • @rabbidfly #5708 05:34 PM, 05 Sep 2025
i have 1000s of assets - i guess dispensers are it for now unless i'm missing something
  • Legacy is fine for dispensers. Native segwit for psbt transactions on Horizon market
  • @rabbidfly ↶ Reply to #5709 #5710 05:46 PM, 05 Sep 2025
ok, so in other words, to use atomic swaps, i have to send the asset to my segwit address
  • Yes bc1q**

  • "The Horizon Dex", is the counterparty dex, which is a swap on the protocol level

@mikeinspace any chance you can help onboard rabbidfly? it would be great to have more fake rares and OGs on horizon.
  • @deltay99 ↶ Reply to #5714 #5716 07:00 PM, 05 Sep 2025
DEX is great to trade to stuff for XCP, atomic swaps are great to trade for BTC (and potentially integrate with other marketplaces in the future, as they are a layer-1, non-Counterparty specific technology)

a personal recommendation would be to eventually no longer use the legacy addresses...they are no longer the bitcoin standard and transacting is more expensive.
  • hi @rabbidfly , I highly recommend using the Sweep feature on horizon market, if you are able. you can sweep all your assets to a new address.
  • @dimesquanderer #5723 03:15 PM, 08 Sep 2025
the counterparty sweep option is also available in the wallet.
  • @deltay99 ↶ Reply to #5721 #5724 03:16 PM, 08 Sep 2025
Agreed for new users, but for OG whales with thousands of assets spread over dozens of legacy addresses, migrating those to segwit is a headache (costs time and money)
  • @dimesquanderer #5725 03:19 PM, 08 Sep 2025
of course. unfortunately, a lot of the new bitcoin functionality (swaps, for instance) doesn't play well with legacy addresses. this is why the market doesn't support legacy addresses at this time; it is a bitcoin limitation, not a counteryparty or market limitation.
  • @dimesquanderer #5726 03:22 PM, 08 Sep 2025
but we are looking into supporting legacy addresses for all legacy-available txs in the market, so we are hoping to help out the OGs.

fire off all the UTX0s into a new address with reckless abandon and trust in the dev

  • Most CP assets are not attached to UTXOs. You’re just updating balances on a new address

you do not need to do that. you can simply create new wallet (new seed) on horizon. and then import your old addy that you collected on to as a single private key. and you will have it there without in need to sweep.
  • @thecounterpart #5740 11:25 AM, 11 Sep 2025
you will not have the feature to open dispenser on the new address but beside that everything will work as normal. later if you feel the need you can sweep your addy.

  • yes sir. because your key imported is not derived in native horizon way.
  • @thecounterpart #5747 04:34 PM, 12 Sep 2025
they will not let you do it.
  • @dimesquanderer #5748 04:34 PM, 12 Sep 2025
let me double check on that.
  • @thecounterpart #5749 04:35 PM, 12 Sep 2025
if you want to open on new addies you would have to sweep to horizon wallet created from their word list
  • @thecounterpart #5750 04:37 PM, 12 Sep 2025
but mathematically its cheaper to send the asset in a standard way and fund the address with dust payment and open new dispenser on empty address. would cost slightly less than using "create on new addy" function. but you have to know what you do.
  • @thecounterpart #5751 04:38 PM, 12 Sep 2025
send from segwit at 1sat/b which is 0.0000017 btc and fund that addy with 0.0000057 and open from it. thats 0.0000074 btc whole the job.
  • @thecounterpart #5752 04:39 PM, 12 Sep 2025
you would only need to make yourself plentiful new key pairs for dispensers. and you can still use your old addy.
  • @LordAntHreX #5753 04:39 PM, 12 Sep 2025
well that is disappointing, I reported this "error" few weeks ago, still unresolved. If that is the case then just please change the error notification from "Unspecified error" to "This function is not available from an imported addy"...All this time I could have done it, but just waiting here for the issue to be fixed

    Hello everyone
  • @deltay99 #5757 05:28 AM, 13 Sep 2025
What are some features people would love Horizon to add?

    I'll start:

    1. lower fees (a quick-win would be allowing sub 1sat/vB fees)
    2. mobile version of the wallet
    3. well-known items for sale on the market (stuff that has actual demand for it - just look at opensea rare pepe trades for ideas of what's hot)
    4. quests and bonuses for using Horizon
    5. seamless taproot encoding for MPMA sends

If these things get added, I would use Horizon _much_ more
  • 3rd. not an explorers job to decide of what is well known item or not. explorers job is to show the data. if it will wrap everything around few "well known" assets then it would be not as decentralised and opinion-less as we would want. Better idea would be to show projects by the volume of that day or week, last highest sale or etc.

    just my two sats

To clarify, I'm not suggesting at all that horizon should filter what to show. But they should incentivize owners of highly demanded NFTs to list them on the marketplace, to increase quality of the items available

    Hi
  • 15 September 2025 (3 messages)
  • tfor opening a dispenser on a new address, we chain 2 transactions, first is sending the asset (and optionionally some extra bitcoin, i specified) to the new address, and the second is opening the dispenser on the new address. the fee for the send is based on the standard tx for a send times the selected fee rate. The error you are seeing is directly from the bitcoin network, you'll need to either increase your fee rate or try again at a time when the network rates are lower.
  • thanks @deltay99 , you've actually hit on a number of features that are in the pipeline. as a small team, these things take time, and I am glad to hear there is excitement for these features!
  • It did not matter what fee rate I put in. The Min Relay fee stays the same. Whatever, it just don't work. I then sent cards manually to each address, sent btc manually to each address and then opened the dispensers on each addy manually. The multisend is nice, but much much more expensive, so manual is the way..

    Gotta go now, speak later
  • It looks like your extension is using the the Horizon Native seed, whereas you are signed into your browser with a Freewallet or Counterwallet seed. Horizon Native defaults to a single address, whereas Freewallet or Counterwallet generates the 20 addresses you would see in Freewallet. To confirm, look at the address generated in the extension (the QR code button). it would be different from all the addresses in the dropdown list in your browser.
  • @dimesquanderer #5810 04:27 PM, 20 Sep 2025
if you are trying to access Freewallet/Counterwallet addresses on Horizon, you would need to reset your wallet extension (be sure you have your seed safely stored somewhere) and sign back in with your seed but choose the Freewallet/Countwallet from the select dropdown.

XCP is the native token needed for creating (named) NFTs

Most people buy XCP from dispensers, using horizon wallet (chrome extension) or freewallet.io (desktop executable)

    Current floor XCP dispenser:

Horizon Market is the home for Bitcoin NFTs like Rare Pepes and Spells of Genesis. Trade Counterparty assets with trustless, one-confirmation swaps.
