No green banners or identifiers for legitimate assets ??in horizon
-
We aren't sorting by collection yet. Will add support as part of showing images en masse.
-
Hmm 🤔
I don’t see a place in there for a website or anything
Have to double check it all - 04 October 2024 (1 messages)

So I’m up to snuff here in new version what’s fair mint gonna be like and can anyone create a token for fair minting
also will they have the same xcp name lists
So all old names won’t work right ? -
I wanna be ready
-
I am not sure I understand? you can fairmint on issuances and issue on fairmints (if the supply isn't locked of course)
-
Ah k I haven’t done it yet lol
So wanted to see how to mint in xcp ?!
I wondered if it was gonna be a new thing.
Haha
So you can already do it haha -
You definitely cannot mint more xcp..
-
What you can do is have an xcp denominated fee paid by minters either to you or to burn.
-
Ya I know.
But can you right now create an xcp token then have a fair mint in the token ? -
yes.
-
Geeesh I’ll have to get command scrips from git hub eh
Because there isn’t a button for that in horizon is there ? -
Or threw freewalllet still
-
Sorry to be such a newbie haha but it’s all new really to me 3 months collecting assets and 1 month making them haha
-
no worries! we'll be adding fair minting support to horizon in a few weeks!
-
next features are subassets and actions on existing assets.
-
Oh k cool so I am not missing it lol 😂
It’s not there yet haha
But. You say it’s in FreeWallet now ?
Is git hub the best place for learning minting command or is there a button lol for that in there -
I’m just asking piles of questions while I got you haha
-
Fair minting is part of v10.4.0 which activates at block 866,000. If you want to learn more about it you can read the specification: https://docs.counterparty.io/docs/advanced/specifications/fairminter/Fair Minting | Counterparty
Fair Minting is a process whereby users are able to “mint” tokens in a decentralized manner. One user initiates the mint (either with or without a “premint”), and then other users are able to trigger it to create tokens for themselves. Fair Minting was likely inspired by the original Counterparty Proof-of-Burn mechanism, by which users sent BTC to an unspendable address and XCP tokens were generate for them automatically.
-
Perfect 🤩
-
So the new wallet buttons will have these commands built in
Or will you need to type the code commands in ?! I’m no coder haha -
it will have buttons, for sure.
-
And then will there be a checker to see what I screwed up haha because that’s gonna happen
-
So will free wallet work in the new version ?
I’ve got so much stuff on there -
Horizon and Freewallet are different wallets. It's best you ask about Freewallet in a Telegram channel dedicated to it. Having said that, Horizon supports both types of Freewallet seeds, so you can load your Freewallet wallet in Horizon.
-
Oh k good like my rare pepe wallet is loaded on FreeWallet because that’s how I started I could load it onto horizon
I knew that I think good 😅
I was worried I might have to send them all ? Or sweep or what ever wouldn’t want to screw that up -
Nope, don't have to do that! If your wallet works in Freewallet and Rare Pepe Wallet then what you want to do is:
1. go to https://wallet.unspendablelabs.com
2. click "Load Seed Phrase"
3. Enter your seed
4. Where it says "Wallet Type", there's a dropdown menu, select Freewallet/Counterwallet -
Yup see that got it
-
I like that I can check stuff on my phone and in FreeWallet and horizon all at once lol 😂
It helps me as tg is only on my phone haha
I refuse to have it on my computer not sure why ahah just because I guess - 09 October 2024 (4 messages)

let's talk about the bc1 addresses in horizon.
-
so we can create assets on these and transfer them now what about dispensers on bc1?
-
horizon's functionality works for both legacy and bech32 (specifically p2wpkh) addresses. Horizon will support dispensers around the time of v10.4.0's activation.

I see green check marks instead of banners not bad
Explorer still kinda lacks what newbies want with flashiness
Unless you’re not looking for new blood ? -
the explorer is WIP. gonna put out an announcement post on Twitter detailing new features shortly.
-
Hello in here ?!
A lot of people asking how I can tell what has a utxo attached or not ? Am I gonna loose funds or assets my moving things around. How do you know where do you look ?! -
Hello lots of questions happening all around ?!
-
The block height hasn’t even been reached yet for feature activation. Zero assets are attached to UTXOs at this point.
-
K so what happens when they are ? 0trading or buying till we know
How could you even tell if something has utxos attached ?! You have to wait until the block closes each time or ? -
Block height is mere activation of the feature within the protocol. It would then need to be made use of... not sure if any tooling will be available same day as activation. Also not sure about how it will be "visible" within wallets
-
This is a very technical subject about the protocol. We'll be adding UTXO support in Horizon Wallet in the upcoming weeks, but to create a smooth UX it will take some time. Expect a slow rollout.
If you have any specific questions about Horizon Wallet or Explorer this is the best place to ask but for more general Counterparty questions @Counterparty_Dev may be better. -
It sure is technical and I am not lol I’ll see what they are saying.
-
Okay, all, new version of the explorer is released: explorer.unspendablelabs.com. We've got most standard image encoding methods covered (imgur, ipfs, inscriptions), and famous collections have got a green banner.
If we missed any collections please post here. I know bitcorns were being a bit fiddly.
Thanks! -
Is pepe project famous?
-
-
LOL I mean there's no particular standard. If you want your collection ID'd just share a reference URL with the NFT collection (preferably as JSON) and we can add it!
-
So, pepe project is not famous...
-
-
-
Ha
-
@robotlovecoffee you got a reference for the pepe project?
-
not sure what project this is, but the peope running it should have access or can point to the json if they has a Green banner before
-
I’ll be there reference
There the best you could
Ever imagine lol
Such great guys doing historical work
How’s that for a reference -
I don't mean reference as in a recommendation I mean a hosted json file.

anyway @LongbranchBear if you share that we can get the green banner up. thx.

Speaking of which, you can now deploy your own fairminters on Horizon: https://x.com/UnspendableLabs/status/1847707437425377315UnspendableLabs (@UnspendableLabs) on X
Horizon Wallet now allows you to deploy your own #Counterparty #XCP fairminters for others to mint! Check it out at https://t.co/hWD1Z496DX
-
-
With the horizon tool, does it automatically fairmint the max allowed (per mint)?
-
I noticed it makes a big mess of the Issuances tab! MINTS before = 2 lines. After = 99,431 lines
-
And the asset isn't locked? But it's minted out? Must be a different functionality
-
this has been fixed in v10.5.0, actually.
-
good catch!
-
(not a horizon thing, a counterparty thing)
-
If the asset does not have a price you fairmint the max per tx. (again a counterparty protocol thing, not a horizon thing)
-
Great, thanks for the quick replies
-
LOL yeah we are working on creating a separate table for fairminters and fairmints in the explorer at this moment. Hoping to get it out toda.y

(2) I'm anticipating a lot more fairminters and don't want to have to make users scroll through -
great idea. will file an issue

Horizon is more formal. Raw data

explorer's pretty bare-bones. Focused on the wallet and protocol contributions.

we gotta do more there.

its nice and simple... in the future would love to import with PK - that an option yet?

yep you can

but not into a wallet i don't think? I haven't tried it

not seeing this, just everytime i do 'add account' it generates a new addy

You can currently import from bip32 master private key. We don’t yet support importing pk for an address

When I select an asset from this drop-down, my assumption would be this is a list of unlocked assets, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It's also not a complete list of the assets I have minted/hold, so I can't actually select the asset I want.
-
Ah we may have a bug here. What this dropdown shows you is all assets you have issued. What is probably not being shown is assets you have minted. I will file an issue
-
You are also correct, we are not filtering out locked assets.
-
@dimesquanderer would you file some issues?
-
Yes
-
thank you @mikeinspace
-
@mikeinspace if you notice any weirdness beyond not filtering out locked assets and not displaying minted assets, lmk!
-
@mikeinspace
> It's also not a complete list of the assets I have minted/hold, so I can't actually select the asset I want.
not sure I follow here? you can't deploy a fairminter on an asset to which you don't have the issuance rights. -
I might be misunderstanding what you're saying sorry a bit tired!
-
What I expect to see here: assets that I hold the issuance to and are also unlocked.
What I am seeing: a partial list of assets I hold issuance to that are a mix of locked and unlocked -
gotcha gotcha okay yep some bad filtering.
-
Which unlocked assets are you not seeing?
-
(i.e. are they of a certain type?)
-
Bare in mind I have thousands of assets in this particular address. Looking for MIKEINSPACE
-
yep okay. @dimesquanderer @teysol have a think on how to do this. Straightaway I think the easiest thing to do is just to allow someone to manually input the name of the asset for which they want to deploy a fairminter.
-
if they lack the issuance rights validation will fail anyway.
-
Thanks, Mike, will try to get to this tomorrow.

Which one should I choose when importing from Freewallet on Windows?
-
As @Niftyboss1 pointed out it is *very likely* that you want to select Freewallet/Counterwallet

give that a try and if your addresses don't look right then try Freewallet (BIP39)

Yes you can’t import additional PKs into an existing wallet instance yet. I was confused by the same thing. If you want multiple PKs open at the same time it’s gotta be multiple private browsing sessions, for example

Why are these denominated in sats?
-
Don't know what this message means... hope its not bad
-
So it appears that converting my pre-existing asset into a fair mint blanked out the description field containing the image pointer. Feature or a bug?
https://explorer.unspendablelabs.com/assets/MYSTERYBOXHorizon ExplorerHorizon Explorer by Unspendable Labs
-
Not bad at all—just a display bug
-
I have a bug ticket for it that I will get to tomorrow
-
your transaction was successful
-
If I issue another tx adding the description back, will that impact the fair mint or even be observed by Horizon/xchain?
-
Ahh this is also a bug. These are normalized, not in fact sats. Fixing now.
-
Or wait….i may be wrong. Looking into it.
-
let's slow down one sec.
-
if the asset is divisible it's deenominated in sats. @dimesquanderer makes sense instead to express it as a decimal point.
-
this is not bad: we just need to add explicit support for fairmints/fairminters in the transaction history feed. That will get done on Monday. In the meantime if you click the txhash it'll take you to mempool.space (which we do for unrecognized tx types/btc sends). If you take that txhash and put it in to the explorer you'll see your tx details
-
I do not understand this question. Can you rephrase?
-
I’m still not sure why you’re denominating in sats at all. This is just the max mint for the fair mint. It’s kind of divorced from the actual fee as that’s contingent on the mempool
-
sats is a catch-all term for integer values for on the decimal side a value.
-
it's just denormalized
-
It's not specific to BTC. We will normalize it.
-
When I turned my asset into a fair mint it erased the description field which contains the image pointer. I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that fair mints could contain image pointers
-
Will get back to you asap. FWIW this would be a Counterparty thing, not a Horizon thing.
-
Yeah I agree
-
FWIW @mikeinspace there is now description locking...
-
I guess my question is: should I issue a new tx adding the description back and then lock it?
-
-
Yes. You can update the description when the fairminter closes.
-
-
Ok… so not before it closes? Hmmm… kind of defeats the purpose
-
? how does it defeat the purpose?
-
(again, let's not confuse Counterparty with Horizon, please.)
-
I can’t show the fun image to entice people to mint it
-
You could have... if you had locked the description.
-
I’ll remember for next time
-
don't overwrite description with `''` if you don't explicitly ask for it · Issue #2496 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core
e.g. when fairminting an existing asset
-
@teysol that's a protocol change.
-
or if you had passed the description as part of the fairminter. The behavior is unintuitive and can be changed as part of a future protocol upgrade, but for now we can adjust in the wallet.
-
Yeah no worries. I understand it’s still a bit of a bumpy road.
-
-
-
ahhh right
-
great!
-
@mikeinspace sorry about that. New feature, growing pains. etc..
-
@Luffees this has been fixed.

Let’s see how this goes haha…

-
I am kind of curious
-
You don’t know??
-
Should I???
-
I can't place it lol
-
-
That Hairline
-
-
@PeriwigReascends if I were to issue a tx adding back the description right now while the fair mint is active it would be invalid and ignored?
-
correct. an issuance can happen if and only if a fairminter isn't happening
-
Again, regrettable but these big assets are minting out in like 2 days lol
-
can add it back soon I am sure,.
-
(a fix to the api has been made and will be part of next release)
-
So out of curiosity: I could have set the fair mint to start at a future block giving me time to add the description back?
-
-
-
this entire column for me is all the same, even the ones from 2 years ago
-
yeah we're figuring out the right way to display that.
-
ok
-
i agree with this
-
just opened horizon to explore deploy fairminter
-
the drop down list has a list of tokens
-
that are all locked, and not valid for fairminting
-
hm, not sure I follow? this is the fairminters tab. what would you like to be changed?
-
in the wallet
-
horizon wallet
-
oh yeah it's just a bug. we're going to fix it today.
-
6 blocks is still an important security heuristic. So how about greater than 6 blocks and we put in how long ago the tx was like in the explorer
-
ahhhh i see ">"
-
blind
-
-
lol no worries. still good to change that.
-
Hi, I have to give my password before every transaction? Thats a lot of typing 🤓
-
yes, it's a security thing. we'll have autolocking etc. later but for now yeah you have to enter your pw
-
-
Mints still showing as open
-
you can't mint on it but we need to do a reparse.
-
@teysol
-
-
-
i see the other tokens are turning closed correctly
-
just this one specificly
-

Hey, everyone, just released a small update to Horizon with a few improvements to fairminters:
- Sats denomination has been replaced with normalized values (decimals)
- Filtering/searching for assets to deploy has been released (and all the necessary validation there)
- You can now specify as part of the fairminter that the quantity will be locked when hard_cap is reached -
Feature (minters and issuances are decoupled) but we want to make it as simple as possible for deployers and minters so we've added lock quantity as a passable parameter to the fairminter
-
@mikeinspace you can just lock the quantity after the issuance now.
-
-
@dimesquanderer did I miss anything in the update?
-
Adds to the excitement haha
-
Just adding that locked assets will no longer show up in the fairminter asset dropdown.

glad that worked!

You know what would be cool... if the Dividends feature allowed you to do asset drops equally across addresses, regardless of the amount held. This would incentivize holders to at least spread their supply across multiple addresses, so you don't end-up with very obvious whales hoarding supply

Love this idea

I think what this first round of fairmints has revealed is the need to somehow limit mints per address. This could be done during the fair mint process itself or incentivized through a more flexible approach to Dividends. A lot of people feel that MINTS potential has been stunted by the fact that whales hold much of the supply and while this can never truly be addressed, the issue is really one of perception: whales are quite visible. If they were forced to split their supply across multiple addresses, fair mints would seem more "fair" and more people would participate, rather than feeling "burned".
I also think Dividends is Counterparty's super-power once atomic swaps start to be utilized. Massive (but cheap) airdrops will be possible unlike any other protocol out there. Essentially, the cost deferred to the recipient, when they attach their airdrop asset to a UTXO. Anyways, I think one (or both) of the options outlined above would help to make Fair Mints a success. @PeriwigReascends -
Horizon been down the past 20-30 mins
-
-
-
That’s totally been available for months it’s a great idea for sure
-
First part sounds like a wL, second part 🔥
-
Dividends is a gem of a tool.
-
Baking wl, or limit mints per wallet into the protocol I think is excessive imo
-
It could be and I don't pretend to know the solution. Perhaps flexible dividends (as I mentioned) is better as its more about incentivizing behaviour.
-
I literally proposed a specification that included max mints per address: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/1843#issuecomment-2176020646 (ignore the ugly signatures). valperez strongly recommended against, and no one else weighed in 🤷Fair Minting · Issue #1843 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core
It'd be great if we could have a decentralized token minting process, sort of like opening a dispenser on a burn address (which will not be possible after #1785). See https://github.com/mikeins...

Yeah a lot of this stuff seems obvious in hindsight. Personally, I likely wouldn't have had a strong opinion before MINTS launched. I likely would have even agreed with Valperez, in theory. But now, it does seem like a huge issue, if whales are going to kill the momentum by minting large amounts of the supply. I don't even see how its in their best interest to do so.
-
You didn't just agree in theory lol
-
strong opinions loosely held lol
-
What's miffing people are variants of Sybil attacks... which is what proof-of-burn solves. Half-measures like limiting mints per tx and mints per address don't actually help
-
I agree they don't actually solve the underlying issue. But perception is reality. If you don't know there are whales out there, then you're probably not gonna care.
-
This is why we've implemented proof-of-burn as part of fair minting. And we'll be rolling it out in the wallet.
-
I been trying to create a Stamp from the explorer wallet but been having this same issue for some hours when trying to sign and broadcast. What could it be?
-
-
@teysol was working hard all night to get the nodes in a stable state. I just submitted a tx with no issues.
-
Import Freewallet Private Key -> Set Password -> Is the unresponsive issue not fixed yet?
-
Not yet.
-
I Hope you had some rest, last few days been intense for you guys! Thank you!

So the MINTs are not trading on counterparty platforms?
-
-
Mints/xcp pair is available on counterparty dex. But no usdt
-
-
-
-
Yes that's the xcp.io Explorer
-
Will Horizon Be getting a CounterParty dex dashboard?
-
-
-
Swap the pair around
-
yes.
-
-
-
that is tokenscan, not horizon.
-
I replied to you in the CounterParty room.

-
-
please post about freewallet and tokenscan in a chat dedicated to that wallet. it's different tooling. thanks.
-
-
-
Enter asset1/asset2 in the search box n click the icon to navigate directly to the market. Will allow u to create buy/sell orders for the new market. Markets only show up on tokenscan/freewallet once an order in a market is placed
-
Pls share link to channel if ur gonna tell ppl to ask there👍🏻
-
I don't have a link to the channel. Please provide one. Thanks.

fyi wallet and explorer went down a min ago. getting them back up.
-
we're back
-
Just pushed an update that should address issues with importing private keys plus a few other bugfixes.
-
Importing *private keys
-
-
I am getting: "Error: Invalid buffer length"
-
Please provide screenshots (with private info filtered out) and steps to reproduce.
-
ah is this when entering your password?
-
yeah exactly, when entering the password
-
got it, okay then your password is incorrect. missing validation. will confirm that issue and then file it and address it. for now, though, you are entering your password incorrectly.
-
I'm not getting this error. what specific workflow are you doing?
-
importing private key --> freewallet/counterwallet and then I am supposed to create a new password, which, if I enter one, I get the error above
-
impüorting via seed phrase works
-
oh interesting. okay let me try to replicate
-
huh still can't replicate. cc @dimesquanderer
-
Ahhhh I think that is not a password issue
-
Your private key may be invalid.
-
It is expecting the master private key.
-
Are you trying to import an address pk?
-
"and then I am supposed to create a new password, which, if I enter one, I get the error above"
-
Is there a minimum character for wallet password?
-
8 chars
-
But the pk validation happens when you try to login.
-
He says the error is on creation of password
-
validation around passwords is quite thorough. would be surprised if that were the issue... might just be some bad error handling in the pk import making it look like a bad pw
-
Yeah it is not a password issue, but clearly the UX here is not helpful. The pk is validated on password submission, so it must appear that the password is failing.
-
makes total sense. will file an issue.
-
thanks for the report @heisenberg_btc
-
Yeah thanks for all the info 🙏🏼
