It would just be an additional feature, but it would be a lot of work. People would have to really want it.

Lots of exciting stuff! Here's the full roadmap on GitHub: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/milestones
We've got an upcoming protocol change release in v11.0.0. Here're the release notes: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/releases/tag/v11.0.0-beta.1
Beyond that we've got an upcoming rebuilt CLI + wallet, then lots of miscellaneous optimizations, API improvements etc. etc.
A rough outline for some possible features in the next protocol change can be found in this milestone: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/milestone/48 All of that's up for discussion / debate of course.
That's just all of the general Counterparty protocol + reference implementation stuff. At this stage the ecosystem infrastructure matters as much as the node software, now that we've gotten so much work done on the latter over the past 1.5 years. -
Thanks for the juicy details, really cool stuff

Leave your thoughts on this in the GitHub. It would unify the current dex with an amm
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/2749DEX Market Makers (?) · Issue #2749 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-coreI had a thought recently and have been trying to think it through figured I would drop it here for discussion. Proper AMM's will require quite a bit of new logic, testing and new database table...

Hi everyone. I've been off theses last months as it has been very difficult for me IRL... and to add to that, I got the luck of being hacked on 2 addresses 15 days ago 😭
I have secured all the others now, but I'm still trying to recollect what happened. I saw this 2 days ago, and I have no clear idea as the hack was 2 weeks ago.
I tend to think it was a bad chrome extension that looked on all the data from the websites and got some information from rarepepewallet and horizon web wallet.
The fucker address is: 13USjbgmzM4RBqCav5ZHkmAQ33HKAn3shL
I haven't had time to check in details what he did, but if you interacted with that address, please beware (he bought a lot of rarepepes with the PEPECASH he stole ...) -

you got hacked on bitcoin? How

anybody else wallet been hacked?
-
how can you prove you got hacked?

Hey big brains !!
I’m trying my darndest to on board new people !
And I was wondering I could broker a deal !! lol
Counterparty takes down the odd message that FreeWallet is bad lol
And I’ll see if I can hunt up. A Jdog to remove the banner on token scan !
Maybe I could get him to put a nice message in its place ??
It all feels so odd to me and I have no answers to anyone who asks me about them. Because if you step back from a
“don’t understand the drama”
Point of veiw and step into a “just want to buy digital assets from the best place in the bitcoin universe”Type of idea.
It kinda feels
COUNTER PRODUCTIVE
NOT
A PARTY AT ALL
I know that I am not alone here just wanted to say it out loud !
Let’s fucking start partying again eh !!
So what say you !? -

I'm sorry, I really do understand everyone's frustration. Obviously the ideal solution would be for everyone to just get along. That's why I spent months and months last year trying to work with J-Dog. Reducing the scope of bug fixes based on his demands (which he immediately reneged on), etc etc. But I can't in good conscience remove a warning against dangerous tooling that has been used repeatedly to attack the network maliciously. The only answer I have is "Don't use Tokenscan or Freewallet". There are good alternatives now. If they're not good enough for your use case, please provide feedback to the creators as to how to make them better, or contribute directly if they're open source.

Discuss here? My two sats:
Two peas in a pod as far as I can see. Same story, new face but still unilateral rulership
- threatening to force vm on the community (major scope shift from feature rich to featureless)
- Avoidance of any metrics to guide development (no polling, or voting. Just censored github)
- Convoluting private service and public utility (horizon explorer/wallet do not belong to the community)
Obviously the ideal situation is open lines of communication. But it seems some lead developers don't believe in that
Looking forward to getting on board with the marketing plan from the new boss 🚀🌕
Will the community be expected to advertise Unspendable Labs service products for free?
Love how all these new features/bugs bury the older unfinished features/bugs that are obvious when you've been eating counterparty pudding for close to a decade.
Full steam ahead at chasing coat tails! -
lol… spent months and months trying to work with me on bug fixes, huh? We barely spoke ever since I handed control of the counterparty properties over to you, and I made it abundantly clear from the beginning that I would not run any version of counterparty where dispensers were changed against community consensus….. once you made it clear that you were forcing changes into counterparty, I simply kept my word that I would continue to run a version of counterparty which did not have changes forced into it
I also went on for many months and reported many many bugs on GitHub ( like the fact that MPA’s broke and the fact that you said MPMA has never had the ability to send memos until I prove that that was not the case)
If you’re going to say, lies, Adam , at least have links to back up your months and months of work with Jeremy bullshit…. I have plenty of GitHub issues that have been logged and are still open demonstrating my efforts to try to work with you to move things forward.
If you wanna keep your misleading messages up on counterparty.io under some misguided belief that you’re protecting users from losing funds (no one has ever lost funds on free wallet due to the fork) you’re more than welcome to…. However, this is another case of many members in the community speaking out and saying enough is enough and can’t we just move past all of this drama., and even I have said once counterparty.io is updated to remove the bullshit fund token scan.io will be updated…. However, you want to hold your guns and continue to say that it’s all me and that I’m the problem..
You’re entitled to your views obviously, but maybe keep the whining about the big bad mean message up on token scan to a minimum since you’re doing the exact same thing despite numerous community members saying enough is enough.
Good luck with your atomic swaps and whatever other features you have planned …. It’s been working out great for you so far.🙄 -
I’m leaving this channel now so you can have your little echo chamber again…. But felt it was worthwhile to join and once again call out your nonsense.
-
-
Fren your excellent leadership resulted in 99% of rare pepes now being traded on opensea rather than counterparty due to the insecurity of dispensers, and a huge community (SRC20) being kicked out of counterparty.
Are you labelling any changes you don’t agree as "forcing changes"?
You also agreed to transfer control of socials more than a year ago, why are you still holding the old channel hostage ?
And how is keeping the iOS freewallet unmaintained for years, yet still available for download, in the interest of the community ? -

Adams repeatedly said he would love to build a VM but it does not seem like that’s something the community is asking for
If you listen to Adams interviews, he purposely avoids mentioning Horizon (which I think is dumb, but I get why he does it)
Metrics to guide development - A high majority of us here want Adam to take the reins and bring us into a new era of technology on CP. Someone has to make a decision, otherwise nothing would ever get pushed.
Let me ask you Duncan, what have you ever done for CP? I can’t think of a single thing, besides whining and gaslighting. -
I think the tokenscan / freewallet messages should come down
However Adam does not trust Jdog. So in good faith, as he’s said, he can’t take them down. If he does, he doesn’t think what he’s doing to right.
Maybe this should be some sort of pole/community decision.
Adams stated his opinion, Jdog has also. Let the community decide. -
Counterparty.io repeats the warning provided by tokenscan and freewallet. Provided a side note disclaimer letting users know be aware which version you maybe using which can lead to loss of assets/funds not intended.
-
The only way of interacting with the "fork" is via 1 devs tooling, which he continues to operate and support....
-
That’s a great observation

everyone just needs to move on with their lives

counterparty.io you mean

The lol part is
"case of many members in the community speaking out and saying enough is enough and can’t we just move past all of this drama., and even I have said once counterparty.io is updated to remove the bullshit fund tokenscan.io will be updated…. "
but he's the one providing tooling and access points to a fork. With warning provided on his explorer -
remember when jdog got mad and removed numeric assets from freewallet?
-
Side note: I don’t even know if CP technically had a fork at 866 😂
-
its so funny Gwhiteknightmoney puts a clown there because it 100% happened and that in and of itself is a great reason to put a warning on the wallet or remove it completely

What dangers are there so I stay safe ? -
Very fine response sir more straight to the point. And quite neutral

There is definitely opportunity to make some amazing things happen. You’d think with all the amazing creative minds in here. That happen to be 100 years ahead of the world they could get together and share ideas and grow exponentially.

I actually think that a poll is a good idea in this case. Polls are easily gamed and TG != the world, but counterparty.io is a community asset, and frankly this isn't a 100% black-and-white issue. I put up that warning about Freewallet and Tokenscan when they hadn't implemented any replay protection, so loss of funds was very real risk. As far as I can tell that's done now?! IMO it's still a Bad Idea to use those tools for a number of reasons but 🤷♀️
-
Could always just add a general statement that says “use all wallets at your own risk” or something like that
-
-
None
-
-
It says why in the warning
-
It says fork but offers no additional info. Understanding the fork more would be helpful. But I'm not sure where best to look to understand all that encompasses this scenario
-
-
There was consensus of course. There's an FAQ entry on the subject here: https://docs.counterparty.io/docs/basics/faq/#what-is-the-origin-functionality-that-was-recently-lost
-

I heard a long time counterparty person talk about how they thought ordinals community was better.
I mention this because 'people problems' within a community are often just shrugged off cause the tech still allows us to build....
But id like understand what people issues we have in the CP community, because fixing these things will bring about tremendous unseen benefits.. -
J. Dog & Adam dont see eye to eye...from what im reading... or there are some misunderstandings and misconceptions ?
What can we do as a community to work this out so both leaders can be closer to the same page so overall we are stronger?
people will say we can just "move on",
But the people are the foundation & to neglect solving our human differences and division...and just keep building...is a problem -
i would say jdog has nothing to do with XCP in an official capacity, and provides some tooling as a third party option while also having official capacity leading an offshoot of old software
the sooner we stop paying attention the less powerful the actions of this third party provider become for us as a community -
we need a more enjoyable and robust explorer that makes old and new users alike feel comfortable forgetting about old explorers we used to use
-
we need people to shift their wallet interface selection where desired to other solutions that give less perceived power to previously stated third parties
-
we need to become unburdened by what has been
-
Xcp.io is pretty nice
-
-
i know i’m guilty of going to an old standard, i think we the community need to share/push the links we want to see in the world
-
Pepe.wtf is a fun to explorer without all the protocol tabs simply browsing collections and history
-
Also xcp.ninja does a fine job as well
-
one of the shortcomings is there are many great works that aren’t in a directory
i also know once people get used to seeing one thing you offer something else (even better) and it confuses the muscle memory of clicking in a spot to do a thing that many are accustomed to and that’s why i think tokenscan is still a thing after all the history -
There’s always kaleidoscope
-
If anyone in here is going to have trouble it’s me lol
And I have found no dangers other that not knowing what to do or typical stuff nothing to do with either wallet or system.
The warning is totally not needed. Because I would have had issues lol if it was warranted. -
I feel it offers alot more unfiltered information too
-
What do you mean “unfiltered” I can think of at least one asset that doesn’t show up there https://tokenscan.io/asset/DAWG
-
Oh I can probably name 100 that don’t show up in horizon stuff haha and 0 descriptions that people spend time on.
Is DAWG a direct attack token lol I guess if I ran FreeWallet and token scan I might filter that too
The art looks okay
But it’s impling the whole fork thing eh. -
Horizon does no filtering of assets.
-
I meant more of the information of most tokens you can dig into the assets better on token scan than on horizon.
Haven’t tried yours in a while I see it had an upgrade ish. -
Yeah, Jdog actively censors content that is on the bitcoin blockchain if he doesn’t like the art or doesn’t like the person. Not great
-
Hmm maybe. It just doesn’t have the info displayed then ?
Or is limited on mobile ?
Tokens are there but no descriptions on a bunch of -
I see that
If something gets filtered it should probably have an explanation
And I would assume only for nasty shit right.
The DAWG one must be a feels thing. And I can appreciate that it’s not great having censorship. -
-
Appreciate the time.
Folks.
I’ll just keep playing woow that little comment sparked a whole thing haha.
Remember Im new new !
But at my very first glance I see the mega potential and big brain smarts of so many of you in here.
And I hate to see any of that get stifled by some
Conflict.
I’ll just trust the unfolding from here on out ! -
Xcp.io doesn’t censor either
-
Nothing is getting stifled, it’s really only the rehashing of these same old arguments that results in wasted time, not your fault but it’s why I said it’s a dead end in response to your first comment
-

An advisory note to ensure the version of counterparty you’re working with is the latest version and then displaying the latest version should suffice for any user right? They should perform DD on the software they use.
If a new user enters the ecosystem and is funneled to a version of counterparty that risks their assets then that should necessitate a warning, but any user who stumbles into our environment gets funneled to products using the latest version, so there should be no issue. Am I missing something? -

Rares we're traded on opensea because they demanded more money, unlike today's paper hand prices after contract change and opensea being unfair.
Although rares and cp assets have the alpha, opensea had the money/community spending 100s of thousands on one nft, like ordinals came in with the "alpha" perceived as first nfts on bitcoin.
High prices on opensea resulted in more sales in dispensers as people made a profit vaulting them and selling on opensea, fakes danks and other collections also sold high volumes in dispensers, more so than opensea sales
But things have and continue to decline, I hear that's why rares stopped originally, the bear market, but it came back stronger in the future
Let's hope this repeats itself for the true alpha of nfts on bitcoin/CP
But confidence is down due to drama/change, the majority of long term users were ignored, but let's hope that doesn't mean it's the end. -
And then people make their bed banning long standing users for saying banned for this, do as I say not as I do attitude
-
It's all terribly disappointing.
-
What about ordinals and the HUGE amount of volume on bitcoin? It wasn't a matter of market, it's been always a UX issue (at different levels, protocol and tools)
-
I mentioned ordinals, a copy mint dank sold for stupid money yet the og was and still is available at the fraction of the cost, yh the volume and fees made it expensive to use, but the people buying were like these are first nfts on bitcoin
-
Very true!
-
Then you have sol memecoins, there's a variety of reasons why volume has reduced, but because of that we can't claim that dispensers were the issue
-
-
Even with these low fees now, operating feels expensive, I have dust, dispensers, different addresses, and to re organize everything is just too expensive, perhaps should have stuck to one address
-
I still believe whatever the drama, the true alpha will be appreciated in the future
-
The legends of yore shall rise again

JUST IN: 🇺🇸 SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce says tokenization is a technology that could significantly transform financial markets.
@WatcherGuru -
Welcome to 2014 SEC 😂
-
Is it time to let the normies in yet?
-
Things are down across the board on all platforms. Once things pick up again, be it this year, the next or sometime further down the road, it’s good to have UTXO binding possible to be able to plug into the new Bitcoin decentralized marketplaces rather than vaulting with a third party. It’s good that Derp, Adam and others worked to have these features ready now. I’d bet there are more UTXO bound tokens than vaults by the end of 2026.
-
I’d venture a guess that 80% of people who acquired Counterparty tokens in the last 4 years are unaware of the drama mostly, and that over 90% of future participants will be oblivious to it too.
-
what drama? the fork with no sends for over a month? 😂
-
The problem is when they check in on things, they’re likely going to xchain, then seeing the ominous message on every page. Even before the red banner, there was the Snapshot message up leading to block 866k.
-
Yet the fact that the red banner on tokenscan exists on about 100,000 sites, and it’s confusing to people who are out of the loop.
-
Actually, I guess there are over a million pages
-
Not sure how I feel about utxo bonded dispensers, not used one but sounds more expensive, but I'm sure there will be a cheaper way in the future
-
You don't bind a dispenser. You bind an asset "token" to a utxo to engage in an atomic swap- PSBT transaction
-
I think you know what I mean, how ever the asset is binded and sold, is there a chance of pruning also, I heard that there were some lost funds to start with?
-
Mis-spending utxo that isnt intended. If correct tooling is used which has safeties that will trigger a warning or if the Wallet has safeties built in avoiding spending utxos that have assets bound.
-
Anyway progress is good, when smooth for user, as cheap as possible and without error as that is the purpose of atomic swap? Trust less, meanwhile I would like the things I've invested in over the years and still have many assets in to not be made more expensive to use be deemed as so unsafe to use by the majority, I'm sure things will be easier/better in the future
-
I have so many vaults that would cost a fortune to get back or update, and seems that may be the case for dispensers if I wanted to arrange my assets
-
Which are now unsellable
-
Emblem vault has been doing tons of updates.
-
I've heard on their spaces they are working on infrastructure for unvaulting assets
-
They was supposed to self migrate, but majority I have to pay for, or pay to unvault, unfortunately I've been in this situation for years and am not hopeful
-
I understand why the migration, with opensea placing barriers, but that doesn't make me feel better
-
Understandable. This may need a following up on with the migration of contracts
-
And if its payment to unvault is just gas fee, then it's acceptable no? Cost of blockchain
-
But it does grant counterparty assets the power of crosschain trades
-
Plus loss of price history, well not really when u think it was costing about $100 a vault or more, and I have like 80,
-
3 currencies to create (eth, coval, btc) , high fees, and boom dead now I have to foot an exit fee
-
Not something I deem acceptable
-
But is what it is
-
-
Exit fee is a commitment to a transaction requesting to unvault. If done in low fee environment wouldn't it cost a few dollars instead of possibly the $100 you had paid prior to vault in a high fee environment. Should be cheaper for you to unvault today then when you vaulted.
-
Not emblem classics no
-
-
If I wanted to just unvault that's my porogative, if I have to because of migration after such costs creating, that's a different matter
-
Understand
-
I then have to use btc to send to an adreess that hasn't exposed it's private keys also
-
Is a long time, costly and pain in the ass
-
So to unvault that's a loss of 8k immediately (80X 100), loss of sales as I have been unable to sell, and then a bunch of eth to unvault, and a bunch of btc, fees to send btc to every address, and btc for fees to send asset to secure address
-
You may be able to list/sell On looks rare, but not opensea, not 100% on looksrare as I haven't tried and never really used it
-
Atomic swaps/psbt listings will alleviate the burden being able to remain on Bitcoin Layer 1
-
That is another burden, I have a multi dispenser that has 100 assets, to close that's 100 tx, to then create swaps equals 100 more tx, and that's just one dispenser address, as I said earlier just getting all my assets back is highly expensive and time consuming, but I guess is what it is
-
Does the sweep function close dispensers ? I do not know, personally never tried
-
No sweep doesn't effect
-
Hmm...so most efficient way of closing such a stack of dispensers, is you personally sending your own funds to trigger the multi dispenser emptying it
-
This where psbt listings are a golden feature. Just click, cancel. Done.
-
Yeah if you have a btc lying around to close them all
-
But main assets are single use dispensers, so requires lot of tx
-
Anyway, main priority is that the real og alpha bitcoin nfts gets the recognition it deserves, which I'm sure they will at some point, but like I say with the level of activity and costs just to operate in current conditions even with 1 sat fees is expensive

No I meant actual image in op_return on cp. Either tiny or non-standard txn which has always been possible

@c0rnh0li0 didn’t you do something like this where you chained multiple OP_RETURNS together through description field updates to encode an image?

Nope

Hi I messaged you all for help about 3 months ago. One of the admins contacted me and I’m hoping they are still here and can message me. My names is Aleina and I got an old counterparty 2017 account that was given to me after a family member passed away. It here gaming NFT’s in it and I don’t know what to do with them.
-
What's the wallet address?
-
I don’t have it with me at the moment I was hoping to talk to the gentleman that was helping me earlier. I can message in the morning with it
-
I wouldn’t hide details like this… I would ask in the open, provide address, because if a single person is helping you, you can easily be scammed if you don’t know what you are doing
-
-
-
Thank you, I am trying to be cautious this why the last person and I didn’t get very far because he wanted me to enter the wallet address into an online tool to sync it which might be okay but I didn’t want to use the 3rd party tool. It’s hard to find someone who you can trust and I have hit dead ends every where and ran into every one who say “yeah, I know crypto, get your ledger, or just enter it into crypto.com…” I would prefer to dm the address to you tho, thanks again it’s coming.

Learning how to use everything is a bit daunting, especially if you want to sell. The market is kind of down lately, so you may want to shelve the task for another few months.
There are at least two different people working on auction platforms. You could use one of them to optimize the gains from the sale -

Okay and to make matters more complicated I was on the ninja and did something created a nft? that put everything together. My family member was not really a gamer, but may have did something that he thought was an investment I also have an eth address that has a bunch of Pepe’s now he
Was an eccentric person and old school he liked desktop wallets I found a GitHub page that looked like someone was doing something for just him regarding validium. I have a bunch of pages he hand wrote re: naming service they are nicknamed- Netflix, chase bank, Walmart and so on. Everything he gave me was on thumb drives cell phones and two laptops and would write seed keys on the inside of frozen food boxes so they are index cards he also liked to hide things from my mother in law- let’s just say there is no Honer among thieves. So there is a note on one care with old linktree logins and one card with hand written private keys I really need help because this was his life work really crypto is all he talked about but he was the guy who lived in a trailer park and you may just have blown him off as a nut but sometimes I think he was brilliant mind and I am now the crypto daughter he always wanted. After he died I had a dream he told me the rustbits are hidden under the broken flower pot I think he was giving me a hint to something great, like whales. the only notebook he had has the counterparty address on the first page. I have at least hundred + seed keys. There is many strange details here like some of his seeds are wrong but in his notes he wrote if the eighth doesn’t work for you then I will pay cash dollars, and if I switch out the 8th word for pay, cash or dollars the seed works. It’s been fun but we don’t have money to hire someone to look just to find 21 million pieces of dust. -
So if anyone is the Vancouver Washington area it would be cool to share what I have in person I think I have cleaned up all the low hanging fruit and what’s left is stuff like rustbits which don’t really look like anything anyone uses anymore but could have been an accident or error on my father in laws part and he forgot what he did or things that were nothing in 2010 but now have some value. Or maybe he has a bitcoin in a cold wallet under one of there turtle address I can’t seem to access a turtle wallet for the life of me but that’s a question for another group
-
Rustbits are highly sought after. Very rare
-
Turtle is another Blockchain, I think
-
Never heard of those. Any idea where they are traded?
-
-
-
Why is there a value?

I also found the announcement and I found this https://medium.com/age-of-rust-game/april-dev-update-4b4b2d651650Age of Rust — Dev Update #5

Okay thanks everyone for taking a look at my wallet but it seems no one here has an idea what’s in it and what I can do with it. I was really hoping someone would have an idea since there is a value on your blockchain. Typically there isn’t a value if it’s worthless right? Maybe someone here can suggest the next place to look for help?
-
values you may see are based on last sales and not current potential in some cases
-
Do I have everyone stumped? Or just not wanting to help me?
-
Really is that because this is some kind of nft
-
Really tho?
-
there is a lot more conceptual theory and market structure required to explain it more than just “because nft”
-
Please you have my ear? I also read that these are not active and that there was some kind of split or change on your blockchain and the value is base off the price of a
Specific token or coin and that I can dispense these and burn them or something like that I may not have the terms right -
that’s a lot of terms and whatnot.
basically, i looked at the address you provided and i see 1500 rustbits. they imply some value based on previous sales that you are seeing and may be thinking there is a $15-20,000 windfall for you to obtain.
it looks like that token has not sold in about two years, and people haven’t offered to buy at that price either, so i presume you likely see inflated value but maybe someone is interested in buying from you.
the only way to know is to place some or all for sale and see if someone wants them at the price you list them at. -
Just a few months ago it was only 5k why would it change when no one has sold this in a long time?
-
When coin daddy came along what changed I wanna say that’s where the value is based on calculated btc price
-
Can I message someone who sold this or has this in there wallet?
-
You can see on tokenscan that there are 2 persons trying to sell RUSTBITS. Here https://tokenscan.io/asset/RUSTBITS on the 'Dispensers' tab. The second dispenser is 2 years old when bitcoin was trading at $30,000 so, that might be too expensive now with btc trading at 100k. There are 7.5mln RUSTBITS left in circulation. They are very old and therefore someone might want a few of these. Question is what would people be willing to pay for these. If there was someone very interested, you would have received a bid in this channel already. Best chance to sell is setting up a dispenser and see if people are willing to buy them.
-
Only 873 XCP still available on dispensers below 10,000 sat
-
Does anyone know wtf this is about?
-
The dollar value on tokenscan is meaningless most of the time, it can easily be manipulated and should never be trusted. RUSTBITS migrated to ETH ages ago and the counterparty ones are essentially worthless
-
Looks scammy

you can make a json and upload art for free if you are willing to be experimental and try something different

Haven't used the site in a while, but it loads up. That's a good sign.

I thought someone else got the domain, I could be wrong

its been back up and was only down a few days iirc

That is what we thought but I think it just expired. You can create your own json and post to IPFS or Arweave with a few steps. Worth leanring should EA go down again.

just make sure to use the longer arweave link to your json. if you do this EA is the easiset cleanest path

Is this the reason the previous tx hashes and links no longer work. I.e. https://xchain.io/tx/1552916 references now a different tx hash than in the past.
-
I don't know anything about Tokenscan but the only thing that's changing here is the consensus hashes, which are sanity checks to make sure the protocol isn't changed unintentionally—and then, only because of how bad the bug is (accidentally unspendable user balances; precluded support for some of the most popular Bitcoin address types). Turns out we don't need to change the hashes for early blocks, and we've pushed a patch that fixes that. The hashes will change only after 2017 (and there were no checkpoints at all from 2016–2024)
-
If v11 doesn't match v10 up until the activation block, then v11 is invalid. It then breaks the most fundamental property of Counterparty, immutability.
-
we put the md5 hash of every pepe we made into the description as a way of future verifying the artwork in case centralized services went down - http://shitco.in/2016/10/09/rare-pepe-fomo-and-the-alt-pump-dump-cycle/
-
a few people followed suit - off the top of my mind PEPENUKES
-
so not "the image" itself, but we put what is needed to verify an image file is the correct artwork in the future, kinda as a checksum.. i feel like this counts for something
-
If that is the case the old hashing code should be used for blocks up to the activation block? (If I follow - Not a dev)
-
So if I am understanding correctly, this is fixing an old bug. We can’t have p2tr or p2wsh addresses without this fix, and these address types are table stakes for modern tooling and CEX listings?
-
-
We can but the fix should be activated at a future block.
Retroactively changing history is unprecedented. Some stamps would change owner, for instance. -
Because they’re using addresses that were incorrectly calculated? what are the details of the change you’re proposing, in terms of what uses incorrect addresses and what uses correct ones
-
or am i not understanding why the ownership is changing
-
and maybe @teysol should confirm that ownership changes would actually happen
-
is it proposed or has it already happened?
-
it’s not activated yet i don’t think
-
Not yet activated
-
Compare PEPOLGA on tokenscan (v10) and Horizon (v11)
-
it looks like xcp.io and horizon match though
-
-
wait the addresses are the same on all of them
-
So no, i am not seeing what you’re talking about
-
I would say i haven’t yet seen an example of what JP is talking about, but waiting for links showing an example
-
pepolga:
https://tokenscan.io/asset/PEPolga
https://horizon.market/explorer/assets/PEPOLGA
https://www.xcp.io/asset/PEPOLGA
All holders matching, to my eye -
-
Joined.
-
v11 is not live. Has not been activated. No explorer is reflecting the proposed change
-
Anyone understand what @jp_janssen is saying here?
-
Could you post screenshots? I don’t see different issuers
-
A minting tool was used, the ownership token is separate from the actual tokens being traded and used on dispenser....its how stamped.ninja was able to engineer their royalty system to reward the artist holding the ownership token. AFAIK not the actual token balances will reflect the change.
-
Why would anything change at all?
-
AFAICT it’s just the way the address is parsed to calculate the ledger block
-
No addresses actually changing
-
And the explanation shows that a new migration_hash would be calculated from genesis
-
-
I read this also. Step 3
-
"Ledger hash" while ensuring the "migration hash" remains Identical
-
I’m still confused at what JP was talking about
-
The owner address matched.
this is the issuer address on horizon
https://horizon.market/explorer/addresses/bc1qpx40lk8luqqpqjjxf9rqqqgpqyqysqzgqqq0lkcqgvqpqzcvpcxqlnp0ns
https://www.xcp.io/address/bc1qpx40lk8luqqpqjjxf9rqqqgpqyqysqzg3hra0j
So there’s more letters on the end of the issuer address on horizonbc1qpx40lk8luqqpqjjxf9rqqqgpqyqysqzg3hra0j - XCP.ioView Counterparty assets and balances.
-
-
You would have to run v11 test net local and experiment, cross reference
-
So first question is is this a bug or intentional.
The ownership address is the same FYI -
-
I can transfer ownership tokens
-
So it can be intentional
-
done or am I missing something ?
-
issuer isn’t the same as owner
-
Maybe they swept their address moving their "ownership" a.k.a issuer
-
no the owners match, one second, i’ll screencap
-
on my phone so it’s a pain
-
Or maybe they updated their description- which reflected as a new issuer ?
-
oh sorry yes Shaban and i are saying the same thing, you can see there’s extra letters on the end of the Horizon issuer
-
they’re the same at the beginning and then there’s more at the end. So is that a bug in the explorer, in the protocol, or is it intentional?
-
That’s the first question before the pitchforks IMO
-
-
maybe a caching issue on horizon
-
cool, so just an explorer bug
-
No pitchforks needed
-
matches my 10.7.4 node too
-
but im wondering why everyone would be racing to explorer anyway because this update is in a yet to be activated version
-
i asked on another counterparty chat mostly of tokenscan guys how can someone interact with explorer, deploy collections and act equally like all other without permission of anyone. as bitcoin should be. and got banned for that question
-
now same question to horizon group
-
who is determining of when collection is collection
-
how to add collection without asking someone to do that
-
and how to be equal by owning keys
-
simply. how to have full control without asking Adam
-
or anyone else.
-
should counterparty be permission-less ?
-
as for now we have to ask someone to do something, which is antibitcoin to me..
-
or at least we have to know all explorers are private
-
So we should evaluate the issue
-
and there is no public explorer
-
this would help not to trust any of them then.
-
Yes, it’s an explorer bug I think. Good find to share with the horizon team
-
do we even know what the issue is?
-
There is no collection inside the protocol. So a collection is a social consensus
-
-
-
need to figure out what the concern actually is
-
stamped.ninja solved this by simply "signature"
-
anyone who owns keys controls the show
-
and no need any other person
-
to approve anything
-
one could make an asset that is the source of truth for a ‘collection’ and refer everyone to that asset to see what assets are a collection
-
yeah subassets do this in a way
-
thats probably the closest thing to a protocol method for collections
-
not interested in ucit, thanks
-
ok so back to the point.
-
wat
-
Do Horizon plan to be permission-less explorer?
-
you can use it right now without permission
-
ok i want to add my collection to it
-
lol
-
do it
-
Do you want people to build on counterparty
-
or you want to spin it around few older projects?
