To @davesta point about atomic swaps, if the atomic swaps showed on the explorer….
My understanding is once it’s enveloped, it will NEVER require a Bitcoin TX fee to sell, even if someone buys it and resells it
If it was shown on the explorer, every-time someone goes to list one of those enveloped assets for sale, it would require a Bitcoin tx fee everytime
So literally once it’s enveloped, there will never be another Bitcoin tx fee for selling via atomic swaps OTHER than possible marketplace fees -
Maybe this is a terrible idea, but maybe the option to pay a tx fee to have it show on the explorers
I think this would be a marketplace/wallet addition to send a broadcast etc… that a new atomic swap listing has been created
A standard format that shows X marketplace, etc… -
I certainly understand why people would want it shown on explorers and I also want it shown on explorers
But to add a Bitcoin TX fee doesn’t make sense IMO
No reason why the explorers can’t accomplish the same result with the order books -

There’s a fork running an earlier version of counterparty, but it’s essentially dead, last time I checked it didn’t have a single transaction in over 45 days

@teysol It seems that both Locking an asset AND transferring ownership of an asset cause the description field to be wiped.

Yep, this is a known issue, and an unintentional regression in v11. The original Counterparty protocol required the description to be re-included in the transaction for all subsequent issuance transactions. At some point, a hacky workaround was put in place to skip this to save on tx fees. However this functionality wasn't documented or tested anywhere at all (as far as I know), and as part of adding Taproot support, we bypassed this logic and didn't realize it'd cause any problems (it shouldn't have). And because locking assets and transfering ownership re-use the issuance transaction type (🤮) the protocol understands those transactions as re-issuing the asset. There's an open GitHub issue to discuss the matter. In the meantime, wallet providers can update to re-include the description in these txs.

What .yaml and .py changes need to happen to make counterparty docker use my existing docker btc node and resources/volume instead of creating another? Someone said its a lot quicker to spinup a counterparty node now but this docker has me downloading blocks from 2010 when I have a docker full node now -
Depends on how your existing Bitcoin node is configured. You need to have all of the required options (in the Counterparty docs) enabled.
