Is there a point in filing an issue on github? Seems like others here are having the same issue with signing txs using 10.9.xx, exact same as I said I am having, and I was told it was my fault for not reading the release logs and it was a "bug".... so, will filing an issue get a different response? Not trying to be argumentative here, just saying, issue has already been raised and dismissed by you as a "bug"... and, its already been indicated how to reproduce, try to sign a tx from the API... in freewallet, electrum, sparrow, etc.
-
if everything is "backwards compatible", one should be relatively confident that things which worked before should continue to work no? Or am I mistaken. Again, not trying to cause issues, and happy to leave the channel if you would prefer.... but, it seems like the response here is to not discuss ppl having issues, and to discredit my issue as a bug, and try and flip it around on the developers who are updating to a "backwards compatible" version of CP without properly testing.

Thanks for your respectful response to users reporting issues with signing in freewallet and pretending it was not an issue related to CP API updates, and indicating that things were 100% backwards compatible. Now it turns out that other users other than freewallet users have reported issues, and no conversation happens here related to it, just the standard "create a github issue for it", which you can easily close and ignore without much fanfare or community outrage. I think there is not much point in me being in this channel any further, as issues related to CP API updates are not being taken seriously or addressed. I will return in the future if/when I have additional issues with Counterparty-core updates, but for now, I have managed to resolve this issue on my own and get freewallet signing transactions again. I had hoped that after many months of drama, we could be respectful and you would be interested in actually addressing concerns by users, but that appears to not be the case. But then again, that is just my perspective. @vectorconfetti thank you today for your help in resolving the issue I was having with "upgrading" to 10.9.0... it is sincerely appreciated 👍️️️️️️
-
For any users looking for how to resolve the issue with signing v2 transactions with no input types returned from the CP API, you may find this commit helpful. https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/commit/95c92feb00a129fee1bbcd6493c784398a7ba9abupdates to allow signing of txs generated by counterparty-core 10.9+ · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop@95c92fe
As of counterparty-core 10.9, the core developers have determined that passing `script_pubkey` as has been done for the past 10+ years is now considered a bug. This resulted in signing libraries be...

According to your logic, you can fuck up absolutely anyone - there were a lot of maniacs and murderers in the world, whose names and surnames coincide with ordinary people. Only a mentally retarded idiot would say, "Oh, dude, you have the killer's last name in your pseudonym! Ha ha ha!"

Relax dude, i’m sure he didn’t mean any harm by it. The waco story is just very popular in a certain part of the world.

MPMA Sends fail to generate a transaction with more than 3 addresses · Issue #2988 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core
Ever since "upgrading" to counterparty-core 10.9.0, users have been complaining about being unable to do MPMA sends and getting an "Unknown Error" returned from the API. I have ...
-
FYI... MPMA sends not working.
-
github issue created with steps to reproduce and verify issue, just like you prefer. Hope it gets fixed soon as many users have complained about losing this functionality in the past 24 hours after "upgrading" to counterparty-core 10.9+
-
Pls ensure that MPMA testing is included in your test suite... as i've been the one finding issues with MPMA manually (memos missing, now mpmas not working)... would be great to have that stuff tested automatically. Thx. 👍️️️️️️
-
It would be cool if you would un ban me from the free wallet room that I’ve never even posted in so I can see what’s going on with your wallet. I won’t say anything.
-
Happy to do so, just please stay on topic👍🏻
-
FYI, the MPMA stuff is not a wallet specific issue… as is demonstrated in the issue that I created, it is an issue with the counterparty core API returning an error instead of a raw transaction.👍🏻

absolutely, this isnt the first old user to ask about Counterwallet and wont be the last

unfortunately, Counterwallet was abandoned over half a decade ago, and it completely stopped working over a year ago. its architecture makes it hard to maintain (it has a huge, not-super-necessary dependency on the "Counterblock" middleware). anyone is free to try to revive it though

Looks like this was quietly fixed…. Thank you. @teysol Can we please get a 10.9.2 hot fix release for this as this is impacting a great number of users trying to do MPMA sends now and is costing users much more in transaction funds having to send transactions one by one.
-
Also including this fix in the hotfix release, so 10.9.2 runs stable would be appreciated 👍🏻
-
filed this issue: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/2984

@teysol any response? Would be nice to be able to tell users when they can expect MPMAs to start working again.

Why can't I send asset or btc from freewallet? Few peeps having issues
-
-
-
This is not a freewallet specific issue Adam... the error is coming directly from the counterparty API
-
Also, any word on when MPMA will be fixed and included in a working release? Interesting you can reply immediately upon the use of the word FREEWALLET, and immediately discredit, but have no time to answer when MPMA fixes will be included in a release
-
Can we please get over this unnecessary drama and focus on getting counterparty-core working so the USERS dont suffer?
-
Will happily create a github issue showing the issue is with counterparty-core.... but, I get no responses from you on when those fixes will get integrated into a release.
-
The only thing that uses electrs in counterparty-core... so pretty easy to determine the error is coming direct from Counterparty API and not discredit anything as "freewallet"... but if you want an issue creatd, happy to do so
-
Could it be just how your third party software is using the current api based on the old api you used to use?
-
Just thinking out loud
-
huh? Freewallet only communicates with counterparty-core which is on 10.9.0... so not sure what your getting at, nothing in FreeWallet has changed in the past week except updating to use 10.9.0.... at which point, it became clear MPMA was broken (fixed now, but no info on when it will be included in a hotfix release... just ignored by adam)... and now users getting errors from counterparty API about electrs (again, something ONLY used in counterparty-core)
-
-
Github is the right place to submit issues. Your well documented issue filed on a Saturday night was solved in under 18 hours. I am sure a release is coming soon. Has not even been 48 hours yet. Really strong turn around time from Ouziel, so I think filing an issue on github with steps to reproduce is the fastest way to get what you want.
-
so these issues fall squarely on the new counterparty-core release... not trying to get into a blame game... simply trying to report issues and get an answer on WHEN stuff will be fixed... but unfortunately, still seems ot be way to personal as I can't even get any response from the core devs on when the broken stuff will be fixed..... in the meantime, the users continue to suffer
-
thanks vector.. I reported the issues on github, and thanked for the fix... however, I get no response as to when MPMA will be fixed and 10.9.x stable... I believe MPMA being broken and costing users lots more in fees is worthy of a hotfix... I asked adam for any response and get ignored.... Are we just supposed to report issues and have no response or expectation of things getting fixed and included in a release?
-
not trying to argue... just want answers.... saying "Nope, that fix will be in 11.0.0 in 3 weeksa" is fine.... it will suck, but still will at least have an answer for users who ask why they cant use MPMA now because it broken in counterparty-core 3 weeks ago in 10.9 release
-
The reported issue was fixed? I trust Adam will cut a release when it's stable.
-
Just did a transfer using Horizon. Worked fine.
-
Yes, MPMAs and sends are working fine in other wallets. That doesn't mean there isn't a bug.
-
Got it... report bugs on github... wait for the black hole of dev to fix and put into a release, and expect no type of friendly response on when to expect releases, including hotfixes.
-
Thanks for the clarity Vector 👍️️️️️️
-
will leave here and just report on github I guess and publicize my github issues in the main CP channel... since it seems there is no expectation of actual support here... just "it works in horizon, and a release will be ready when it is ready"
-
Sending 30 messages on the same issue when you reported it 43 hours ago and it was already fixed, just hasn't been released yet. You really don't see how you're being a little unreasonable?
-
the tickets I've filed for freewallet i didn't get a response for like 4 months, and then they were just closed without any resolution
-
30 messages? I thanked him for the fix and asked when it would be in a release and waited 6 hours for a reply... then asked for a reply
-
anyway., pointless to bicker in here.... got whta I needed... l8r
-
big of you to expect friendly responses after your last 18 months of friendliness, maybe reflect on how you've acted and think why people aren't quick to respond
-
He did get a response. The response was "Fixed" with a link to the code that fixed the issue.

According to your leader, this isn't even the main counterparty room. So I'm not sure what marching orders you are following at the moment. But he is right, all the unnecessarily drama is quite tiresome
-
Leader, marching orders, what you been smoking
-
I just want to send assets and btc in the wallet I've always used, and getting cp api error messages
-
Issue was pinned on CounterParty core api systems. I was just noting transfers are possible.
-
Fixes are possible
-
I was joking, but seems bit fishy frw facing issues
-
I like unisat honestly
-
But do use Horizon for my CounterParty needs
-
people can talk about wallets in here, it’s just not a wallet support room. People with Horizon issues are also directed to the horizon chat.
If there is a counterparty issue, the wallet developer who has found the bug can provide a bug report on github, with the api request used and the error returned, rather than a picture of someone’s laptop screen. -
Well I dropped the image to show what message we are getting, there's quite alot of people wondering what is the issue, I can't ask what is the issue in here?
-

Why so many bugs/issues, seems like there's always something

werent we relying on a bootstrap to reboot the network everytime something failed?

How's atomic swaps?
-
I remember the days of pinging the old maintainer to reboot servers because nothing was working
-
-
the lack of keeping counterwallet up is what forced me to become a freewallet user, almost as if oh nevermind
-
Well I've never had issues with sends, multisends, creating dispensers until 2.0
-
whats 2.0?
-
you mean counterparty?
-
Cp2.0
-
-
I don't know her
-
Well like creating dispenser from different address, now it costs more, more tx etc
-
There's no such thing as "Counterparty 2.0". see the FAQ. https://docs.counterparty.io/docs/basics/faq/#what-is-counterparty-20
-
I thought that's what you name you chose
-
-
I think it's called projection...smokes harsh they say
-
So how does atomic swaps work, utxo?
-
This is also addressed in the FAQ. https://docs.counterparty.io/docs/basics/faq/#what-is-the-origin-functionality-that-was-recently-lost TLDR; there was a critical security bug that had to be fixed, and that means the effective BTC fee has to be 2x as high
-
Also in the docs (yay docs!) https://docs.counterparty.io/docs/advanced/how-to/atomic-swap/
-
Yh that's what I mean, lots of bugs or removing funcunality, but there's has been quite a few after releases, always seems to be other issues to do, is there more testing in future releases
-
Will give a read, cheers
-
@DOGESTYLEEE no real functionality was removed... see https://docs.counterparty.io/docs/basics/faq/#what-is-the-origin-functionality-that-was-recently-lost

Hey I've got a question about the trading price info on pepe.wtf info for individual pepes.
I suspect that Counterparty DEX orders are not included in this list for some reason.
For example, if on the JORDANPEPE list of available assets and last sales:
https://pepe.wtf/asset/JORDANPEPE
There are no prices listed in XCP.
I have a JORDANPEPE up for sale in XCP:
https://horizon.market/explorer/tx/cf7020febea7f6415a5e75e5aaff2bc974f5f131ed65cfe477a7b26712aab324
But it is not included in the list.
Any idea why this is the case or if it could be modified to included Counterparty DEX trading info?JORDANPEPE | Pepe.wtfDiscover the universe of Rare Pepes in Pepe.wtf

Think they removed freewallet/xcp and added horizon, so dispensers made in frw can be bought/seen on horizon, and show on wtf, but not xcp orders
-
Oah you can still see xcp orders, but it sends you to horizon
-
-
Sometimes it doesn't update on wtf properly, so when looking for floors check that there is for sale on eth for example
-
Sometimes it says floor 200 for example but the floor could be way off, like 600, so just double check the listing's on dispenser/dex/opensea to get accurate info
-
Buts seems to be showing yours as floor, sometimes just have to wait for it to auto update
-
Yeah, I noticed the numbers are pretty weird in some cases.

Yes. I would recommend that tool to other people for sure. I have already created a similar form but have not released it to the general public because it's not completely functional yet
When it comes down to it, I'd much rather have the ability to edit a text file on my server, than have to redirect to an entire new json file spending a Bitcoin fee in the process -

if arweave survies and is a peraweb then it is the best place for stuff. Yes it might not make it but there are a lot of other data points that want to be able to be placed on the web and not be taken down more than our jpegs and that give me hope that it will survive.

10,000 years! Wow these guys are planning ahead. 10,000 years ago we were in an ice age using stone tools.
-
-
I’m not convinced Bitcoin will still be around in 200 years. Just look at the rate of change over the last 200. We can’t predict out that far with any reasonable assurance of accuracy
-
-
-
Just looking at options I think it has a chance to be around longer than other options is all, not saying it is perfect at all just that I think IPFS will fail before in some cases.
-
-
-
More honest at least.
-
-
I have found AW seems to be fast, or not dead slow as I have found with some IPFS systems once the data on up.

for as long as there are people that care about/ are invested in cp nfts, they can just host arweave/ whatever themselves
-
Am I the only one to think that the counterparty landscape will be radically different (more vibrant, active, exciting) 12 months from now? Even though market activity is still quiet, there is so much great work being done by various teams that I feel it is inevitable!
-
Thanks for the reminder that I should stay on topic
-
u are probably the only one
-
Hope so. Easyasset going down is a bad look tho. It's caused a big fiasco in other chats...
Artists need that tooling. RPW offering IPFS is awesome tho. Great work there..wish more wallets made it easy to simply upload file, convert to CIP25 standard and boom. Ez
Easyasset was nice because it was free... But that's probably why it failed... It relied on donation (though if someone made a replacement I really wouldn't mind throwing arweave for each mint to use it)
^ you add insta payment in BTC or XCP and it auto buys arweave would be even easier too
Not a website builder myself but just saying my two sats on the issue
Paid services for enhanced assets never really were successful from what I've seen.... Coindaddy offered it for a long time
Though nowadays paying thousands for inscriptions maybe changed the game idk
Furthermore it's so freaking easy if you take like an hour to figure out arweave JSONs... But not many artists have followed RobotLoveCoffee's tutorials on how to host it and create it themselves -
I don't think so 💥💫
-
Yes easyasset's model was unfortunately unsustainable :(
Too bad it was the only easy option for such a long time -
most people aren't aware of Counterparty at all. Alot still think punks are the first NFTs and a lot think Ordinals were the first Bitcoin NFTs
Maybe it's because Magic Eden has a Bitcoin tab but only shows Ordinals 🤷♂️ -
Obviously, this is the current status.
BTW, are ordinals still very active? Mempool seems to be so quiet these days... -
The person who created ipfs also created filecoin. I think filecoin stores thi.gs right?
-
-
-
yeah the blockchain architecture isn't well suited for it. blockchains are state machines. but IMO the ecosystem does need something BFT for storing critical data ~forever. not to compete with S3 or whatever, like Filecoin tries to do, and not like Arweave which has the wrong design
-
It’s a database lol. By that rationale a database is a bad place for data
-
-
BFT?
-
-
I literally read it as BTFO. Made sense
-
Lol
-
-
-
sounds very Softwarish... Adam gets it
-
Well it could be said it’s an append only ledger. It does store data anyway
-
The generals. Gotcha
-
-
-
A state machine on top of an append only ledger perhaps is more accurate
-
-
-
-
I’d hash that
-
-
more specifically a timechain
-
Kind of both from different perspectives I guess
The Ledger is where all transaction data is permanently recorded, and the state machine is the method by which that recorded data is processed to yield the current state.
Just trolling gmoney anyway cuz spam lol the point was that it’s there to store data err spam -
sounds like you failed anyway 😆

ANN hotfix release of counterparty-lib v9.61.2
This release fixes three critical bugs that can disrupt the network:
* Integer overflow in dispensers
* Invalide broadcasts with malformed text
* Bad logging for destructions with an invalid asset
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib/releases/tag/untagged-d7002d440f94bfcee202
Making this release because the next real version, v10.0.0, is going to take another few weeks to come out. Hoping to have v10.0.0-alpha out in a week or so, however. To track what we're working on for that release, see the GitHub milestone: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib/milestone/12Releases · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-libCounterparty Protocol Reference Implementation. Bulk XCP current availability:
[removed - checking] -
XCP is not the most valuable thing on counterparty no more.
-
Is there high demand for bulk XCP?
-
So far it's been rather quiet in 2025 but I think that's only temporary

you could do that or just send it directly to the buyer in the first place to complete

@teysol I've found this old feature request, any chance this could be implemented?
I think it could make common actions easier
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/649Pay Transaction Fees with Different Inputs (Multiple Source Addresses) · Issue #649 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-coreAt the moment the bitcoin transaction fees have to come from the "source" address unspent outputs. Are there plans to allow payment of bitcoin transaction fees using a non source address....
-
It's essential for xcp/pc to pump for this to change. The reason nfts are on eth is because eth has a lot of money to spend on nfts.
-
It all comes back to this.
-
Then we're good, because I don't see how the new US gov policy won't pump XCP (and the entire BTC space) big time this year
-
Hehe this guy seems to agree with me 💥
-
Why so many lettuce hands these days
-
Eth used to have good sales before migration of emblem vaults, now can't see price history on new vaults and all it shows is the lettuce hands
-
Counterparty will pump when it starts being used for something other than frog pictures. And that will give some of your frog pictures provenance. They'll see how much XCP and Bitcoin you wasted kek
-
Is eth used for something other than pump and pictures of cats?
-
Yeah it buffered bitcoin for a while for the Pedophiles that worship satan

Hello to everyone , I want to open a dispenser from freewallet . Is there any risk to open a dispenser for the other assets I’m holding ? Thanks !
-
I’m a noob with dispensers 😂😁
-
There is not
-
As a seller I believe there are no risks.
-
-
-
-
Why?
-
So I need to move pepecash(example) from my main wallet to another wallet and then open dispenser?
-
-
-
But nothing technical, right ? Just a precaution ?
-
-
yes, if you open a dispenser and then send btc to it, it will just dispense to the sending address if you send an amount great enough to trigger the dispenser.
Some wallets (ninja and horizon, that I know of) will allow you to send the asset and enough bitcoin for all open/close/withdraw fees easily with one transaction.
You can also open a dispenser where the asset is, but of course, any time BTC is sent there it can also trigger the dispenser. That’s currently why people open a new address to create a dispenser. It used to be mandatory to make a new address but it is no longer. -
Thanks for clarification 😁
-
Thanks for the super clarification Vector !
-
I don’t need to receive BTC atm on this wallet , so can I proceed to open dispenser on my main wallet ? I’m selling something cause I need some BTC 😁
-
yes that will work just fine, it’s a bit cheaper as well
-
Thanks vector ! Thanks to everyone ! Happy to see a lot of people helping in just a few minutes

🛠️ Announcing Counterparty Core v10.10.0 🛠️
This release includes a complete rewrite of the entire test harness for Counterparty Core, as well as both restored and all-new integration tests and GitHub workflows for continuous integration. This release also adds support for Python 3.12 and 3.13, which means significantly improved performance overall. There are of course a number of bugfixes, especially for node stability when Bitcoin Core is overloaded.
This upgrade does not include a protocol change and is not mandatory. User-facing changes to the API include a decrease in the default output value for attach and move transactions to 546 satoshis and renaming the --testnet flag to --testnet3.
Note: If you are running a version lower than v10.9.0, you must first update to v10.9.0 and only then install v10.10.0 (!)
Full release notes are on GitHub as always: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/releases/tag/v10.10.0 -

Looks quite simple, thanks!
How long does the initial setup take? -
-
The documentation doesn't mention RAM and storage requirements though? Am also curious
-
It does mention a 1.5 TB minimum storage requirement, but that might be lower now than AddrIndexRS is removed. Can @teysol provide updated minimum storage / RAM / core count / any other material HW requirements? Thank you!
I can also file a documentation ticket in a few hours as this question has come up a few times.
Something quite small should be fine, I just don’t know how small. I self-host. -

sorry i missed this question. my setup took about a day to sync, which was pretty much just the time for bitcoin core to catch up from the beginning. the limiting factor was my internet speed at maybe 200 megabit/sec. It’s also important to have an SSD instead of a hard drive for reasonable performance.
Running the commands to get everything set up is just a minute or two. Happy to help if you try it out and are having trouble with anything -
The existing list of verified dispensers looks nearly empty, so here is a new one:

I found a bug on counterparty @vectorconfetti @teysol
On the fairmint I launched yesterday
https://horizon.market/explorer/assets/A95428957892599213?marketsTab=swaps
The sum of balances of holders is 93 but there are 114 valid fairmints. This means there are 21 lost tokens appearing in no one balance. Eventhough the supply is 120. -

-
@yodark I've filed an issue. We'll look into it: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/3036Possible Bug with Fair Minting · Issue #3036 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core

I think he clarified that the missing supply was just deducted into dispensers, which is a dispenser quirk

Is it possible to lock the asset description using message IDs / flags in the op_return? Is there any documentation about this?
-
Don't know if there is documentation, but it is possible as the horizon wallet implements the feature
At protocol level, this composes an issuance transaction which sets the description field to "lock_description" -

What I’m asking is how can I lock the description field when constructing the Counterparty’s OP_RETURN issuance message.
-
I understand that description=lock is available, but I’m not sure exactly where to place it or if its position has any significance.
-
Building a private solution in an already crowded landscape is not quite the topic I was addressing. When your project is done, you are no doubt going to market it. But I don't feel that's the same as inviting new users, of all sorts, to the entire ecosystem
-
How are you constructing the message? Using the API?
-
Nope, I’m generating my own OP_RETURN issuance message along with the whole issuance transaction
-
Using the cntrprty prefix
-
As far as I know, for issuances, whatever is present at the end of the message data is considered to be the description
-
Yep, however I already have STAMP: in the description and want to lock it with the issuance
-
Are you saying that the description can’t be locked during the initial issuance if it already contains other data?
-
@teysol
-
Counterparty Core API · Apiary
A place where APIs are kept.
-
i think the parameter is just missing from the docs
-
also if you're constructing your counterparty messages manually the api is a good way to check your results
-
-
it looks like instead of adding a parameter you just need to use the old method of locking an asset to lock the description
-
so you cant lock the description on initial issuance otherwise you'd just have a blank locked description
-
you'd need to perform another action where you set the description to "lock" which would then lock whatever the current description is
-
Thanks for taking a look at this. Appreciate it!
-
That’s not ideal, to be honest. As an artist, if I allow others to mint my work, I’d want to lock both the asset and description at the time of issuance. Perhaps a separate parameter for this should be considered in the future.
-
hmmm if others are minting your work then they could choose not to lock anything?
-
Fairmint I believe is the case
-
couldnt you lock the description before your start the fairmint?
-
Artist creates their art. Community defines supply.
-
Not with stamps
-
The Stamp has to be restamped when locking at the end
-
For the CounterParty asset
-
the lock doesnt replace the description
-
it locks the previous one
-
On the stamp index it reflects as a new asset
-
the description doesnt change tho, why would it show as a new asset
-
With Stamps, I believe the artist should have the right to choose whether to lock their artwork or leave it unlocked at the time of minting.
-
i get that doing a second tx is a slight inconvenience but i dont understand how it prevents you from locking at the time of minting, its just two txs prior to setting up the fairminter or dispenser or whatever
-
As I mentioned, if I allow someone else to mint my artwork, I won’t have a second chance to lock it.
-
so allow them to mint your work after you lock it
-
This feels like the birth of a new asset class! 🙂
-
lol, by lock it i mean the description only
-
-
-
To be fair, the term mint is now part of the counterparty lexicon with the addition of fair minters
-
Is that your proposal for how we should collectively market the protocol to outsiders—without using the word mint? lol
-
I beleive the issue to bring new users is UI. So basically it is putting an UI on the "minting" feature that an artist can handle without owning a Phd 🙂
What happening under the hood is just using counterparty token issuence features -
I beleive we need to update the cannons. XCP is 10 years old and came before a lot of usecase that people are using today (NFT for example)
Typically "issuing an asset" is not a good name compared to "minting a token" or "issuing a token".
the today usecase are "minting a token" => "associating metadata" => "linking metadata to assets" -
-
How about we try using it correctly first?
-
Industry has already defined creation of a digital asset is synonymous with minting
