i’m pumped for the founders coming back and making stuff happen to improve both the functionality which could improve adoption.

Anyone know the Tether ppl? We could have them load a few billie tethers onto the new and improved DEx 😁

this would be amazing

im sure tether will support it

i've assets i want to migrate from xcp(freewallet) to eth, what changed ? do i need to take some precautions? thanks !
-
its the first time i do it :D
-
i don't want to lose my assets , then when there will be desktop horizon i will use that..
-
I ask of you to issue shares on Counterparty and distribute them out for further transparency.
-
It sounds like you would like to create an emblem vault. You can still do that all the same. It is a send from your wallet to the emblem vault's wallet address, so no extra precautions needed.
-
thanks cornholio , so i need to go there https://emblem.finance/createcurated , select project and card and send the card to this address generated on the website?Emblem Vault
An entire wallet inside a token
-
That looks right to me.
-
thanks so much! if i will encounter some problems i will tell you :D
-
@jakegallen can help too
-
thanks so much!
-
You are not really migrating them. They still are xcp assets just wrapped in a eth contact so you can sell or buy etc. I think you know this just want to make to clear for others. You can also put many assets into one vault.
-
thanks for the explanation ! :D

Counterparty Core Development Update
We're working on the upcoming Counterparty Core v10.6.2, which will include a protocol change to fix a number of outstanding issues esp. in the recently released features. Milestone on GitHub: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/milestone/44 This release will be fully backwards-compatible, except the new UTXO attach/detach API calls might still change (to make them simpler). We're adding significantly more tests for that feature, as well as for fair minting.
In the meantime, the last protocol change to fix multi-dispensers activated yesterday. Triggering a dispenser at an address where other dispensers were previously closed should be working again. 👌 -

GM frens! Started v10.6.1 in docker container and see “could not connect to backend at http://xxxxx@localhost:8332” messages in the logs. First time starting a node, do I just need to wait?
-
Hi Anton! I’ve seen that before too. It connects on one port but not another. if the process is continuing it should be fine - is it still continuing?
-
Yes, doing attempts every other second. Maybe i just misconfigured something. Trying to spawn the node in akash
-
-
It should just work (TM). Are you getting block transactions? if you run this, you should see a bunch of similarly-numbered ports - 8332,8432,9332,9333 from docker-proxy, what's it looking like?
sudo netstat -tanp -
Basically, I've seen the error on just that port but when I've seen it, everything still works, and it eventually stops
-
hey guys i’m in buenos aires. talked to Peter Todd, he’s going to add counterparty to his L1/L2 analysis :) reminded him of us and all the positive progress
-
-
Great initiative 🐸
-
-
yeah he called it an L1
-
I can’t tell if he hates it or not but either way, bringing up visibility. also talked it up at my talk here, which is videoed so will share when I get it
-
can I ask a prob dumb question? does an xcp asset add weight to bitcoin like an ordinal does?
-
-
right, unless you’re adding pictures into the bitcoin transaction (like stamps and ordinals do), it’s small
-
I'd be happy to discuss this with him :) The original L2 was Lighting, which was—notably—stateless.
-
-
interesting ok
-
so if I wanted to put an actual song into something, what’s the best way to do it? like an mp3 w art
-
other people who are more knowledgeable about the tool space would probably be able to answer this one - it might be pretty expensive to pack all that data onto the blockchain because the fees scale with size. but doing something like 8 bit music with 8-bit encoding might be cheaper, a la the mario theme song
-
best to ask Scrilla and Kane Mayfield about this - they commonly have to choose what to include in tokens, how much space it will be etc etc .... Scrilla previously did a GhostFakeKillah ordinal drop with this entire conundrum in mind
-
ok but no way to do it w counterparty yet?
-
FWIW we're going to going to be making it much cheaper and easier to store data in Counterparty transactions in the future using "modern" encoding methods. But ultimately it's still gonna be tough to put an mp3 on Bitcoin affordably. You'd have to use an aggressive compression algorithm to say the least.
-
-
always has been ways to do it with xcp - but the rest of the bitcoin nft community is OBSESSED with 'on-chain' - which is why people skim down and compress their mp3's so much to even fit it on an Ordinal

the costs are INSANE for even small songs
-
I reduced a file to 3.2 or 3.9, I wouldn’t wanna make a crappy track though. also I worry my maxi friends would have a meltdown for me using bitcoin w all that weight. cost is annoying but not quite the main factor
-
nice find, this would be fun
-
I think like 6000$

-
if I put my silk road song on there for example though it may be worth it

and maybe add on the physical hand drawn art

as a real life piece or just use the image

will the song quality suck? I use full bands etc

I worked at a recording studio so making it lofi isn’t really that appealing unless I made a new song w that as the goal, keep it simple like guitar vocal one take type thing, but silk road the song for example is lush and high quality and I have a hard time wanting it to be small and squashed

it’s a 4 min song

this would work for the original bitcoin jingle for me

could make it a bit shorter but seems cheesy a little

yes it can be done in a new song as a funky effect, kinda like the no ordinary kind song by violetta

things the meh way, seems like it would be best to do it as a realmordinal and shell out the dough -

-
How about breaking it down into each individual track? You put each one on-chain with a final transaction that pulls them all together (just don't ask me how to accomplish this).
-
I forget what it's called, but pfp collections do something like this by first inscribing each trait
-
recursive inscriptions
-
We have that for stamps too
-
But it costs 4x as much
-
sounds complicated, i’m already v confused lol

for those interested in our testing strategy, we've just implemented an advanced technique called property testing for the node: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/blob/95273ec485ee99e031527990a7811a01a5591b00/counterparty-core/counterpartycore/test/regtest/properytestnode.py https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/blob/95273ec485ee99e031527990a7811a01a5591b00/counterparty-core/counterpartycore/test/regtest/utxosupport_propertytest.pycounterparty-core/counterparty-core/counterpartycore/test/regtest/properytestnode.py at 95273ec485ee99e031527990a7811a01a5591b00 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core

What I'm imagining is say you have 16 tracks. You inscribe each track for ~200kb each then a 17 inscription that ties them all together.
-
and the 17th one is the one that goes to market and the 16 can be sent to a burn address so all that trades is the final, and you could make others using those 16 snippets
-
The 17th run is used for ORD: on Counterparty
-
yep
-
can an ord be on counterparty?
-
Yeah, Counterparty tokens can point to an inscription all the same as Ordinals does

Apologizing for use of block space is not the right approach in my opinion. If a txn pays for inclusion in a block that’s enough. It’s valid. Saying it’s “small” so it’s somehow better than a big txn misses the entire point. We pay to be included in blocks based on a fee market.

Inscribe sorry.txt 1000000 times

definitely, not my intention to say smaller is better, just that it depends on the data in the tx

Bigger is better

No apologies as there’s nothing to apologize for. Paying to use block space is all that matters. How it’s used is none of anyone’s business

It's not really either, as counterparty isn't a blockchain

Adam used the term “fork” on the X space last week, referring to J-Dog’s fork

yeah. I would say it's similar to a soft fork, as it's backward compatible

How’s the activation mechanism work compared to Bitcoin soft forks ?

And from the users side, what’s the meaning of having CP classic & CP 2.0 ?
-
There is no CP 2.0. Just last version Counterparty v10.6 and some people keeping and obsolete version v9.6 called "Classic" for some reasons
-
the upgrade activated at a certain Bitcoin Block
-
It's a token by token fork. Certain actions result in an invalid tx on one side or the other, while being accepted on the other side.
-Opening a dispenser on an empty address on old versions
-Buying from a dispenser from a vanilla BTC wallet rather than an XCP wallet will only dispense the token on old versions.
-Fairmints and UTXO binding on the newest version
These are the actions that result in tokens being forked. -
-
It should be noted that this is nothing new. If anyone uses an old wallet, you are potentially exposing yourself to similar risks.
-
For example, the update from 9.59 - 9.6 had the reset divisible asset function. Once an asset was reset, it was forked away from its previous self on all versions prior to 9.6

"only dispense the token on older versions"... Is this really a good idea? Can't the new version recognize when tokens are being sent to a "vanilla" wallet?
-

???
Sorry, I have no idea what you’re talking about. Why would you need to reopen 40 dispensers ?
And can you clarify what you mean by « recognizing token sends to vanilla wallets »
Doesn’t make any sense, at least to me -
Self-custody / is Saylor Moon still our friend?
In past years, Saylor has done much to encourage investment in bitcoin and raise its profile among both the public and institutional investors.
This is somewhat OT, but given that counterparty runs on BTC and that almost all counterparty assets are in self-custody, Saylor's recent "bait-and-switch" move towards institutional custody is surprising and worthy of discussion.
I listened to his comments in an interview today, which unfortunately I could not find, so instead I will share an article summarizing his current thinking.
https://coinmozo.com/michael-saylor-bitcoin-controversy-custodial-debate/
Key points from Saylor:
"In an interview with financial journalist Madison Reidy on October 21, Saylor indicated that Bitcoin holders would be better off entrusting their Bitcoin to major, regulated institutions such as BlackRock, Fidelity, and JP Morgan rather than attempting to hold it themselves."
Previously, Saylor "believed that keeping Bitcoin in self-control would prevent strong custodial entities from destroying the decentralized essence of Bitcoin."
His latest comments "imply that Bitcoin is safer in the hands of huge financial institutions, which are regulated and backed by lawmakers and government officials. He argues that institutions such as BlackRock, Fidelity, and JP Morgan offer trust and stability that private individuals cannot match."
"He dismissed concerns about confiscation as “paranoid” ideas held by “crypto anarchists.”
"Reidy highlighted the US government’s gold seizure under Executive Order 6102 in 1933. Those who advocate self-custody frequently point to this historical incident as a cautionary tale."
"Saylor disputed the parallel, claiming that........the government has no motive to take (seize) Bitcoin."Michael Saylor Bitcoin Controversy: The Custodial DebateMichael Saylor Bitcoin Controversy which created a trust in big financial institutions for self-custody, has recently triggered a debate.
-
On modern counterparty, you now just need to trigger dispensers from a counterparty wallet, versus using a bitcoin wallet. But there’s no need to reopen all your dispensers. If you are running a modern wallet, your dispensers all got upgraded automatically.
-
I wouldn't even say a Counterparty wallet but send a bitcoin transaction with Counterparty data
-
There is basically only one version of counterparty that is being maintained. While JDog is running an old version he is calling “Classic”, he is not promising to maintain or upgrade it in any way. It will stay exactly as it is. It’s not recommended to use it because you can lose assets on the main chain, and then you’ll lose those assets on the counterparty version that is actually getting new features and updates.
-
-
So you're not considering Freewallet a "Counterparty wallet" anymore? Im really just trying to understand what's going on.
-
It’s not a recommended wallet because the person running it is hosting a fork, but as long as you are careful, especially when you open links from other people who might try to scam you, to only ever use Freewallet 2.0 and tokenscan 2.0, it will work as expected. The reason that it’s been disclaimed on the website is that it’s a big trap for newbies to fall into with bad actors
-
The goal is avoid losing assets on the main chain
-
-
The counterparty states between “classic” and main (which are both nested inside the bitcoin chain) are different and they will continue to diverge. You can already see people complaining in the other chat that their balances are different on the fork versus the main chain
-
-
No, JDogs plan is to have two versions of freewallet and two versions of tokenscan. As long as you always use what is up to date it will work the same exact way as Horizon, Rare Pepe Wallet, etc.
-
-
Yep, the main trap right now is to make sure you’re not accidentally looking at la “classic” tokenscan link, especially when someone sends you a link. Unfortunately the websites look almost exactly the same except a reworded banner and the link text
-
-
Not trying to offend, this is just a public chat room so I want to be clear for anyone reading along
-
But technically the fork is the always newer version (?) for example : Ethereum is a fork of Ethereum Classic
-
-
-
It recognizes sends
-
It’s just dispense triggers that have changed - They need to be marked as counterparty transactions now
-
Just like you couldn’t send from a vanilla btc wallet before, you now cannot trigger dispenses from vanilla wallets anymore
-
-
-
Dispense triggers from a “classic” wallet will not trigger a modern dispenser
-
There seems to be a misunderstanding here… Where did you read that this is the case ?
-
-
What is a dispense send? I just want to make sure we are talking about the same thing
-
Yeah the following terms have very specific meanings and shouldn’t be mixed up:
Send
Dispense
Wallet
Address -
-
Only if they are using the modern version of freewallet. If they’re using classic it won’t
-
It’s not a wallet thing, the counterparty nodes themselves won’t register it
-
Up-to-date FreeWallet and Horizon use the same ledger
-
-
-
For sure.
-
The “classic” version and the modern version will also continue to diverge at the protocol level as new updates are introduced to the modern version, so what is true today may not be true in a year from now. Trying to use an old version intermingled with a new version can continue to have increasingly unpredictable behavior. There is no long term plan in place by any developer to update the classic version and it’s not supported by the modern version
-
NB: not a counterparty or wallet developer, just a user
-
I would like to drop the idea of using "Classic" terminology. There is only current CP and then bad actors supporting tooling for older versions that will cause users risk. There is not reason to use tooling that is not talking to the latest version of CP.
-
I totally agree - I’m just trying to figure out the best way to communicate with people who are getting most of their info from JDog.
-
100% get it
-
I just refer to it as 9.x as it is just a older version of the ledger.
-
No there are two
-
-
What? Nothing has changed with asset sends
-
Great, I’ll do that going forward.
-
-
Unfortunately JDog has really dug in on this victim mentality - like he isn’t doing anything wrong by running a protest (hostile) fork, so does just directing them to a different wallet that doesn’t have the features that they want right now really help with that?
-
👋
I use thé old version for mpma for cheapest fées as some months ago , so to bé honnest, it is a good thing for some of my TX 🙂 -
-
-
So many counterparty classics!
-
Are counting the various versions of freewallet . io or including the freewallet . org which has eaten a lot of assets over the years?
-
The community pleaded with him to rebrand to avoid further losses, since the .org wallet doesn’t give access to private keys.
-
It baffles me that J-Dog keeps inventing ways for users to lose assets
-
That would make 3
-
But yeah, i don’t know if this approach is working for people who have been around for a long time who want to understand what’s going on. It’s the right approach for a new person, but someone who is used to freewallet and listening to a lot of lies from JDog is not gonna learn what they are trying to learn from this approach
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
these are the rules we have for the public, free nodes

Why would you do that?

There have been like three Twitter spaces in the last few months. Plenty of opportunity to join the conversation then. Hahaha. I'm not a core Dev, but I ran out of patience for durrrdog long ago -
If they’re implementing replay protection, it’s fine. People who really want last year’s version of counterparty-core forevermore with just one tool, Freewallet, can use it. It’s a fine resolution IMO.
-
no one will actually download/use classic, its purely being used as a battering ram. glad the devs here are fully focused on the protocol itself
-
There's only 1 dev and his product/tool that is causing the confusion. Which he also provided access to the current 10.6,
-
If I would put a number on devs, there's 30+ running 10.6 and maybe 2 who run 9.6, which neither are actively building products or improving
-
I've not heard leather, Okx, or unisat wallets complain/ throttle/censor our usage. And all 3 are opensource audited.

So, it is still an issue -when I have several dispensers on 1 same addy- the buyer can trigger other dispensers while buying from one..
-
That behavior (sometimes called multidispenser by people who like using them that way) remains unchanged from before
-
Thanks, I got it
-
-
Why is it that you are repeating yourself while ignoring input from other members here?
-
I appreciate the feedback, but the question was for Adam
-
-
-
He's extremely active on github
-
Amazing work on the protocol improvements
-
Did you ask J-dog too? FYI he declined to speak in the last space with Adam
-
Yes, he agreed
-
-
-
Ok, if you were willing and he is willing, maybe some good could come from it
-
-
-
I hear you, I just wonder if you two talking about it might lead somewhere good.
-
I feel like you keep refusing to listen to what everyone is telling you :/
-
I'm asking Adam Duncan.
-
-
Duncan, I'm interested in what Adam has to say. Communication is a good thing, please stop trying to shut it down.
-
Jdog doesn't want a bug to be fixed, while any other dev working with Counterparty is happy to not have it anymore. That is all.
-
-
-
You’re asking in a public chat, if you need to have a private conversation do it over DM
-
Dispenser logic chnages and atomic swaps were a year in the making...
-
This is not a conversation I wanted to have in private. It's a counterparty issue. This is the Counterparty chat.
-
I'm here taking time out of my day to explain things to you
for the benefit of everyone involved, maybe you could try to help keep the Jeremy fan club to the other dozen chat rooms where he constantly tries to spin his disingenuous yarn one illegitimate statement at a time -
Cool, the counterparty community has responded to you a lot.
-
Protocol and community in the best state it has ever been...
-
Since 2014

Hello, Suvangi here from Coinstore- a Singapore based cex.
Whom do i contact to discuss a partnership/ listing opportunity? -
If you would like to learn more about the project stick around please. You will learn that this is an open source endeavor that will not make an economic contract for listing
thank you for your time -
frens, how far out dex capabilities in horizon wallet? Is there any way to buy from dex?
-
-
Perfect
-
@horizonXCP for horizon info
-
-
-
impatiently waiting for what’s to come! looking forward to it
-
firemints.xyz
-
this is the first platform to implement atomic swaps in counterparty, im sure more will come but at the moment if you want to test atomic swaps this is the place, i built it so if you have questions please let me know :)
-
-
-
Yes!
-
-
open for buying :D
-
Can't wait till this 2.0 version of counterparty is separate from muh Pepe's.
Thinking about burning all the 2.0 fork copies and keep the original OGXCP versions.
But I'll sell ya dank AF OG Pepe's on original counterparty/classic once wallet is ready.
Till then I don't want muh art diluted so I'm trying not to generate TXS on the fork version. -
-
Big Bcash vibes there
-
Looking forward to the replay protection and letting the market decide so we can stop talking about this over and over.
-
betterr selling me the fork assets than burning sir
-
-
-
Bitcoin cash, Jdog is doing his best interpretation of Roger Ver right now

Yup, it didn't want to upgrade. It died. End of story, except the one who believed this was the "real Bitcoin" lost a huge amount of money
-
You’re the fork! No you’re the fork! etc etc etc
-
-
Yeah, Bitcoin cash turned out "great" for those who went all-in and sold their BTC and held the Bcash.
-
-
Wait? What?? The fork was off from original counterparty I thought??
-
The market will decide
-
-
-
The worse part was the Bitcoin . com website selling Bcash as the real Bitcoin
-
-
-
What do you mean.
The Software forked. There are two separate ledgers now since 2.0 forked🤔?? -
-
nothing! just the benefit of hindsight, which can only be had by waiting
-
So let’s wait and see
-
There is no v2
-
-
Forks are off the main chain.
BCash forked off BTC.
2.0 forked off classic.
Those are facts not market speculation right?? 🤔 -
there is current counterparty and out of date counterparty, drink if you dare
-
sometimes the milk is still okay, other times its chunky
-
The 2.0 fork isn't working though. It has made bugs??
-
it works fine
-
no it doesn't

-
There wasn't a real single update in counterparty for years, sir
-
works fine and works perfect are two different things
I'd ask you to show any previous version release that was perfect -
-
-
CounterParty 10.6.1
-
-
you drank the koolaid I see
-
There is only 1 CounterParty
-
-
Then those who choose to experiment on obsolete versions.
-
Yes the seven sons of JDog have made a few stops here today
-
-
+30 dispensers and +70 dispenses in 3 days
-
-
-
-
-
Collectors and market won't give value to the outdated version. I can tell Pepes there are worth zero
-
(Spoke to many big collectors)
-
10.6.1 works amazing with Leather, OKX, and unisat
-
But again, no need to talk about it endlessly. Isn’t everyone absolutely sick of this conversation? Just me?
-
-
Ok, what’s your question?
-
Because so far it looks like trolling.
-
If you care, follow the consensus, or you will lose money. It's as simple as that. And everyone runs the latest version of Counterparty.
-
I'm trying to understand how long till muh art and XCP get separated from this ridiculous fork 2.0....
Muh dispensers I can't even close from main addy anymore....
And I have to send funds to each addy now to close them...
The dispensers stopped working correctly after 2.0 fork happened. Funds would arrive but not trigger dispenser. This almost cost me 350$ of xcp that I sent to dispenser that didn't trip. Luckily the owner sent them manually.
I haven't been doing TXS since because of paranoia of loosing money in fees.
Now I just want to know how long till the fork 2.0 version adds replay protection??
🪖🙏💚 -
What's the latest node count?
-
JDog is adding replay protection as he already said. He said sometime next week. Is that clear enough?
-
So I can move on
-
Wait?? Doesn't the fork add replay protection??
Like BCash?? -
-
-
-
-
Warning 2 : please stop trolling or you’ll be muted
-
-
-
-
-
everyone using FW is screwd and the horizonwallet looks like its in beta and you make ppl pay 3 times to close/open a dispenser and you think that is ok???
-
-
What are you taking about?
-
-
-
Sorry, what’s your question Arvik? I think I answered it.
-
Let me know if you need any clarification
-
-
-
-
Ok, so you’re repeating the same question over and over and ignoring the answer
-
Jdog is adding it
-
-
Horizon is the only wallet that works with the fork I thought?
-
-
-
I just muted
-
thats all it was for it did 1 thing really well
-
What am I doing to get kicked out I'm trying to understand why the 2.0 fork is waiting so long to add replay protection?
-
this has been answered
-
no sir now you can use many others unisat, okx, leather, unishat, phantom....
-
Dozens of wallets 🔥
-
We really gotta think about the people being fooled into a cult of personality and try to find a way to bridge their being misdirected so they can see how they are being played
-
Ugh, yeah IDK. I’m not good enough for that
-
This is SO much like Bcash
-
thats where we need to be good enough and care enough
-
-
-
I know we can do it
-
Pepes there are worth zero. Market will teach.
