Let me put it another way...
L1s each have attractive narratives that play into their strengths. SOL is cheap and fast and so its attractive for degen games. Bitcoin, by its nature, is slow and expensive to use. Therefore to justify that expense, the narrative evolved to be about eternal permanance. NEED is a funny word. I would say that NEED is whatever the narrative demands. -

Blockchains do the heavy lifting of establishing provenance and ensuring the tokens can’t be double spent and can be transferred freely, I don’t care where the image is stored because I can store it myself

Mountain lions generally dont break limbs as they parallel you. I had to walk over a mile in each direction in the pitch black to a creek to get water, had a desert eagle strapped to my chest and still felt like i was 100% in a bad situation where that gun wouldn’t have been enough for whatever was following me. I am trying to send an asset from Free Wallet to an emblem vault and I keep getting this Counterparty not ready message on my free wallet. Sometimes I also get the Counterparty API communication error. I have the latest version of Free Wallet and all the server settings are default settings. Any idea why this happens? -

The release notes say NOTHING about how to upgrade

IMPORTANT:
If you are running a version lower than 10.9.0, you must first update to 10.9.0 and only then install v10.9.1.
If you are running a testnet4 node, you need to rollback to block 64492 manually before starting the server process -
if there are specific commands to run, please list them... all I see is release notes that say upgrade to 10.9.0 first, and as I said, I did a clean install after removing all dockers and images

I think the lack of logic lies in our collective inability to facilitate coopetition effectively. Case in point the pace of development has been unsatisfactory and continues to be. However it seems like we're dealing with the other end of the stick as compared to five years ago. It would be great if, as a collective, we had an underlying process so that everyone of the people who use the protocol can be on the same pace

I would like to suggest that you make release notes as verbose as possible to avoid any issues like this in the future, had you simply put these notes into the release notes, all problems could have been avoided, as it makes it very clear what commands to run.... You may understand exactly what steps to run, but not everyone running a node will automatically know to run all those commands... being verbose saves time and issues

Either way, thank you for the commands @vectorconfetti and I am updating to 10.9.0 now and the 10.9.1 and will hope that resolves my issues. You may not agree that including the commands to run to upgrade are necesary, but definitely helpful users, so something I think should be incldued in the future

I understand taht. I appreciate you writing out the commands which IMO should have been in the release notes to avoid any confusion, and my feedback is for @teysol to include commands in the release notes in the future in cases like this.

The goal is very much to make it as easy as possible to install and maintain a Counterparty node. I think it's unnecessary to duplicate the upgrade instructions, but I'm happy to do so going forward, just to err on the side of having more documentation.

Yeah that's not normal. (No error is normal.) Haven't heard that reported before though. It's possible a restart will workaround the issue.

FYI... removed bootstrap.. pulled v10.9.0 and let it catch up current, seems stable, no errors or crashing... only after pulling v10.9.1 and spinning node back up do I continue to experience the crashing loop... gonna go back to 10.9.0 for now to keep my node up

FYI, this is why freewallet is having issues signing txs generated by 10.9.xx ….. and requires additional request to get raw tx from bitcoind and decode just to get input types…. Any reason u stopped passing this info in the new api?

This was a bug that was fixed. It's in the ChangeLog for v10.9.0 https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/releases/tag/v10.9.0 as "Fix issue where composed transactions contained script_pubkey (lock script) where the script_sig (unlock script) should be". Please read the release notes before reporting issues.

Thank you for clarifying that you feel that that is a bug. I will make the necessary changes in FreeWallet to enable signing of transactions generated by the latest version of the counterparty API.
Regardless of if I read the release notes or not, if I have problems with transactions and signing, I will be asking about them. You may think that your release notes are perfectly clear to you however they are not clear exactly what the implications are until someone runs into an issue.
Once again, thank you for your reply, and clarifying that this change to the way transactions have been generated for many years was because you feel this is a bug👍🏻 -

Getting a No inputs error on the compose/send trx the other day and they wouldn’t even load in electrum wallet like that. Haven’t had a chance to revisit -
