suggestion: make explorer to see what asset ownership address hold.
wallet show what you own but explorer still not. Explorer is capable to catch only what was issued by that address. But if someone issued it 5 years ago it doesnt mean he is still owner of it today.

that issuer is not the owner
  • @stackbtc #2691 05:33 PM, 19 Nov 2024
owner is who owns it at current block height and it doesnt have to be the issuer themselves
  • @stackbtc #2692 05:34 PM, 19 Nov 2024
a tab with "ownerships" would be something NEW on decades old network.
  • We don’t have a separate tab but we do have a “My issuances” filter which allows you to display only your owned assets

  • @stackbtc #2698 05:37 PM, 19 Nov 2024

  • @stackbtc #2699 05:37 PM, 19 Nov 2024
on my address there would be no way to verify i have it
  • @stackbtc #2700 05:38 PM, 19 Nov 2024
    xcp.dev was fetching that data
  • @stackbtc #2701 05:38 PM, 19 Nov 2024
but again i can suggest you on how to be the only explorer that people would need
  • @stackbtc #2702 05:39 PM, 19 Nov 2024
and there would be no reason to use another explorer
  • @stackbtc #2704 05:40 PM, 19 Nov 2024
for me personally i dont care who issued it. i care who owns it. and who controls it. thats why for me the owner is always on top
  • @stackbtc #2705 05:40 PM, 19 Nov 2024
"my issuances" makes not much to me. because i can be shown something what i dont have nor do i control already.

to me much simpler is "ownerships" because that would show every asset that i control including my own issuances.
in my perspective the key is everything, i care less of someone behind that asset in the past, i care of who is the key/asset owner at the current block.

of course when browsing the asset on explorer you can show(should show) both:
issuer and owner. this way we could verify who issued it and who controls it today.

all this together would be very helpful, as again, the main purpose of why i see someone should buy XCP is to issue token and own it.
  • @stackbtc #2706 05:40 PM, 19 Nov 2024
my two sats. hope it helps guys
  • @stackbtc #2707 05:59 PM, 19 Nov 2024
another suggestion, never ever put info in the form of "warning" as jdog did all the time. he basically scared everyone away with his warnings.
great example is if someone would open to sell 0.1 xcp dispenser , his tools would put a WARNING on it lol.
thats a stupid way of thinking because he is censoring people that use the SAME coins. if XCP is made divisible its for someone who OWNS the KEY to sellect of how much he want to sell. even if its 0.0001 it should be accepted just because it meet all the network criteria.
solution to this is simply putting a filter to show the whole tokens only. bingo, problem solved.
so again, less unnecessary warnings like some past explorers did and you will be much much better.

Horizon has a good potential to be the best and take all the customers.
  • @stackbtc #2708 06:05 PM, 19 Nov 2024
in short words it is crucial to solve the causing of the problem and not just putting a warning and hoping it will never happen again. warnings scarred people off.
to the great wallet and explorer suggestion would be to implement filter to show only whole tokens listed on dispensers. thats not necessary but better than warning given on other explorers for sure.

wish you the best in development

    again my two sats.
  • @LongbranchBear #2709 06:12 PM, 19 Nov 2024
    Excellent point about warnings ⚠️
  • @teysol #2710 06:15 PM, 19 Nov 2024
The whole reason we (and others) are able to have fewer warnings now is that we've fixed some of the worst bugs in dispensers at the protocol level.
  • @pappyG45 ↶ Reply to #2663 #2711 06:15 PM, 19 Nov 2024
I support unity in any fashion and trust me I tried very hard
  • I think this decision actually has some validity. People were selling 0.01 for the price of 1 XCP. While that is their right, a lot of people felt scammed. So highlighting in some way that the sale is “non typical” seems to be reasonable (to me anyways)
  • @stackbtc ↶ Reply to #2710 #2713 06:18 PM, 19 Nov 2024
    great achievement.
if someone use freewallet and tokenscan there is NO chance not to see "error" or "warning" in front of your eyes.
every single day all you see is "error" "warning" "limited"
and in most cases it is censoring of people which is kinda "anti bitcoin"

  • Explorers are, by nature, highly opinionated. Rare Pepes don't contain image pointers onchain, so the "social consensus" images are substituted. If "illegal content" were to be added to a token, I imagine explorers would feel its within their right to censor such content. If you want true permissionless, you gotta run your own node and local explorer

also another great thing to see that horizon wallet let spend BTC to zero and do not say "your wallet doesnt have enough" based on someone opinion like was in freewallet.

i hated to see on freewallet when it says "you have to have that much btc to do things" or something similar.

and again to horizon devs, if you want to see things to scale. let people control coins.

i never understood why developers havent copy pasted electrum.
OP return came with BTC omni, electrum does all the job perfectly since then.
if any CP dev took electrum and turned it to CP wallet that would have been simply the best.
so there is a lot to learn from electrum.
if the wallet would let do as much as i can do using electrum, then i would be stunned and use nothing else. Electrum is best of best example that doesnt require full node and you can work with it FAST and have FULL control on everthing. no downtime.
thats why i suggest open electrum and see what function it has and if you can implement to your wallet :)

    good day to all
  • @stackbtc #2780 07:16 PM, 19 Nov 2024
one last thing to add. custom fee and suggested fee has to be divided by 0.1 SAT and not the whole sats. 1 satoshi is a lot nowadays. and by letting divide it you would let users to broadcast their transfers much more accurate :)
0.1 is default by major bitcoin wallets and you should follow their example.
if its enough 1.1sat/B to be taken in to next block:
    1sat/b would be too less
and 2sat/b would be way tooo much.
This is way if i can target the accurate fee i can save in long term.
    i hope it helps

    edit.
freewallet had another annoying thing. it would ALWAYS spend all your confirmed outputs and consolidate it at no matter network conditions and no matter what you do.
if you have 10 BTC in 20000 outputs that nasty wallet would take ALL outputs to broadcast 0.000001 worth transfer and make you to be forced to OVERPAY.
i will have to test horizon with this and i hope that it will take just 1 output that covers the transfer or best if it would let control the coins and select it.

    edit. also for horizon devs,
such error as "Instance of 'minified:ad0'" when fee is higher than balance i guess has to be written in human language as again do you want everyone who see this to come talk to you and waste your time asking what that means, i guess not :)) hope it helps.

    can you explain why?
  • @PeriwigReascends #2794 09:07 PM, 19 Nov 2024
So we actually just built a little QoL feature for the orders: say you're selling XCP for PEPECASH, you can search to see who's buying XCP for PEPECASH. It'll show you the best prices available for the trade. If you click the "BUY" button, it will trigger the order form directly in the wallet with the fields fillled out. If you don't have enough XCP to fill the order (or you just want to buy less PEPECASH), you can scale it down, and it will preserve the same price so that you still match with the selected order.

@teysol designed and implemented the DEX over a decade ago. It's pretty great but it's also a bit barebones, so mapping its workflows to a typical orderbook experience will take some iteration. Definitely would like feedback. Cheers!
  • @stackbtc ↶ Reply to #2793 #2796 09:14 PM, 19 Nov 2024
because nobody cares of whats lowest price is, its not going anywhere. everybody cares:
    1. future
    2. present

    "best price" is past.
  • @stackbtc #2797 09:15 PM, 19 Nov 2024
first thing what i want from explorer is to see mempool, to see the future
  • @stackbtc #2798 09:15 PM, 19 Nov 2024
then i want to see whats the present
  • @stackbtc #2799 09:15 PM, 19 Nov 2024
and only if i have time i can go look at the past.
  • @stackbtc #2800 09:15 PM, 19 Nov 2024

  • @stackbtc #2803 09:17 PM, 19 Nov 2024
the time frame of when you can see the future is limited (next block)

  • @PeriwigReascends #2810 09:19 PM, 19 Nov 2024
so orders expire after 2 months. But I totally agree the default view for the orderbook when you haven't specified a trading pair should be chronological.
  • @stackbtc #2811 09:19 PM, 19 Nov 2024
thats why landing page(tab) is incorrect and i explained why
  • will create an issue for this. will get to it tomorrow.
  • @stackbtc #2813 09:22 PM, 19 Nov 2024
first what users want is good real time experience. Everything thats happening now has to be priority. whats already happened is in the block forever and can be accessed later.
  • @stackbtc #2814 09:27 PM, 19 Nov 2024
the thing that you let to sort by price is beneficial, dont take me wrong. its a very nice thing to have as an option, but that should not be priority.
  • @stackbtc #2815 09:27 PM, 19 Nov 2024
it should go by block height and by the fee paid in that block. in that order (edit: or first broadcast at that block)
  • @stackbtc #2816 09:28 PM, 19 Nov 2024
as example. the lowest fee tx paid and accepted in to block would be the very top order to show in explorer. it would be the "last" as it paid the lowest fee.
  • @stackbtc #2817 09:31 PM, 19 Nov 2024
lets say we broadcast three orders.
    X i pay 8sat/b
    Y i pay 10sat/B
    Z i paid 7sat/b

if we would all get accepted in to block the order book should go like this:
    Z
    X
    Y
  • @stackbtc #2818 09:32 PM, 19 Nov 2024
Y would be the first to "match" because it was the highest paid fee in that block. (at current rules)
  • @stackbtc #2819 09:32 PM, 19 Nov 2024
hope it helps. (or unless you will remodel everything and make orders work the other way which would be great)
  • @stackbtc #2820 09:33 PM, 19 Nov 2024
in my opinion all dex orders has to be rebuilt as they are wrongly built ages ago. i would list the order book by the first time seen at the cases when two orders matching at the same block.
  • @stackbtc #2821 09:35 PM, 19 Nov 2024
to avoid snatching it should be built in a way. that if our both tx would get confirmed in to the same block, the one who got the match should not be the one who paid the highest fee(this doesnt help to CP economy) but the one whos tx was seen first. based on the timestamp on when the node see it.
  • @stackbtc #2822 09:36 PM, 19 Nov 2024
in short words anyone who is skilled can cover CP and have advantage over new users because most of the things were built in a wrong way.
  • @stackbtc #2823 09:39 PM, 19 Nov 2024
if you want to see. lets pick order and try to fill it and if i would want for you not to fill it i can make that happen. to me thats bullshit. when executing an order first i should never be second IF our both tx were included in to the same block.
  • @stackbtc #2824 09:39 PM, 19 Nov 2024
if you guys will have power to rebuild of how orders on the dex works it would be great 🙏
  • @stackbtc #2825 09:44 PM, 19 Nov 2024
who should get the order match:
if there were few transfers that wanted to match an existing dex order and confirmed ON THE SAME block the match should go to the first broadcast and not to someone who paid higher fee. "paying more" doesnt make any sense as we both confirmed in to same block it means i paid ENOUGH too.
all this wrong set up made people to lose orders they want to fill, waste on fees, cause errors and many more.
the only winners were miners, even if you would have order snatched from your nose, you would then have to go and cancel that hanging unfilled open order- and again the only winners were/are miners. the model should be built that it would benefit CP users.
  • @stackbtc #2826 09:49 PM, 19 Nov 2024
the only exception of when the one who broadcasted and paid more should make a match is IF the order that we are trying to fill is unconfirmed in the mempool and it would confirm all together in to upcoming block. then it would all be decided by the priority.
  • @stackbtc #2827 09:49 PM, 19 Nov 2024
it needs deeper thinking. but the model should be bulletproof. you click first, you should get it. that how it should work.

    this
  • @stackbtc #2833 10:06 PM, 19 Nov 2024
because at the moment to broadcast first at the rules where the winner is who pay more is the worst thing to do.
let me explain why, lets say you see something you want to buy for 100xcp and broadcast the order to match it.
i see that you are "buying" something and thinking, let me see, maybe i want it too. and i have time until the next block hits.
    and if i do.
i can broadcast with a bit higher fee after you and make you trapped where we have to get back at freewallet output consolidation that i was talking about earlier today.
and there is no RBF no cancelation no anything. the first to broadcast would be trapped as fuk and he couldnt do anything. even if he would want to open another order with higher fee - freewallet would use the change from the first broadcast as all the coins were consolidated. that would make his first order to ALWAYS confirm first and spend 100xcp where my order with 100.01XCP would win it. and if you had only 150xcp in your balance you would lose that "battle" as all your tx that you pay 101xcp that came after the first would fail as insufficient XCP balance. you only had one shot and you used it broadcasting first.
not even mentioning if you would start panicking seeing you losing and click mouse twice a second trying to act fast - they would rate limit you on tokenscan and freewallet. so not that they would limit you to control your funds but they will shut your eyes to even see who won that "battle".
why do i wright all this here? because the changes are badly needed and i want to address the worst of what we had so we could avoid this. i am not hater of freewallet, i used it long time, i was addicted to it because there was nothing else to use.
and now when there is new wallet and explorer i will not look back. will stick to horizon and hopefully those changes will make CP great again
  • @stackbtc #2834 10:06 PM, 19 Nov 2024
always think about if there is a way to penetrate/beat the orders. if there is. they arent built correctly.
  • @stackbtc #2835 10:07 PM, 19 Nov 2024
i hope you guys will take this in to consideration and think about rebuilding of how orders on CP are working.
  • @stackbtc #2836 10:11 PM, 19 Nov 2024
freewallet didnt had a single function that was working correctly as it should, not even close to say it was bulletproof.
this is why i hope new developers will make some big changes as everybody need those changes for the better.
    Horizon is the new hope

another crucial thing. BTC pay can not expire ever if btc has left the buyers wallet. just because CP wallets do not has RBF or reverse or coin control. such nonsense as expiration that jdog had is another stupid nonsense.
imagine you set up BTC auto pay.
order matches and BTC leaves your wallet.
    now its pending in mempool.
and now imagine hypothetically the same moment degents would start to pump runes and would lift the fees to 100sat/b and keep it half a day. what would happen?
oh well. i would lose my btc because he thought its okay for btc pay to expire after 21 blocks
  • @stackbtc #2839 10:34 PM, 19 Nov 2024

  • @PeriwigReascends #2937 08:05 PM, 20 Nov 2024
yeah we'll get to that pretty soon, just still trying to knock out features.
  • @XCERXCP #2938 08:07 PM, 20 Nov 2024
Ahh, didn’t even think about the coding aspects.

    I was simply thinking security
  • @XCERXCP #2939 08:07 PM, 20 Nov 2024
It’s good for actually making people write it down
  • @PeriwigReascends #2940 08:07 PM, 20 Nov 2024
yeah i mean it's more secure to enter your pw each time but I get that that's a tradeoff the industry accepts.

Hi can you or someone please assist? I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but I can’t click on the buy button. I’m trying to sell some XCP for BTC
  • @teysol #2943 07:44 PM, 21 Nov 2024
    buys with BTC aren't supported
  • @PeriwigReascends #2944 07:55 PM, 21 Nov 2024
(BTCPay is a total PITA. Will probably be the very last feature we add.)
  • @PeriwigReascends #2945 07:55 PM, 21 Nov 2024
No offense @teysol I know you designed it 😛

Atomic swaps are designed by him too and much more cool
  • @ffmad #2947 07:21 AM, 22 Nov 2024
It's a good thing Bitcoin evolved since btcpay ^^
  • @teysol #2948 01:13 PM, 22 Nov 2024
the idea for atomic swaps on Counterparty actually came from @herpenstein !
  • @PeriwigReascends #2949 01:17 PM, 22 Nov 2024
(and Looney designed a variant, too!)
  • @ABlue0ne ↶ Reply to #2947 #2950 05:47 PM, 22 Nov 2024
Btcpay still exists as a standalone and doesn’t completely suck btw
  • @booey88 ↶ Reply to #2950 #2951 06:00 PM, 22 Nov 2024
Does anyone actually use btcpay? I've found it buggy and clunky when I tried (at least, freewallet's implementation)
  • @teysol #2952 06:02 PM, 22 Nov 2024
It used to work great with Counterwallet. Granted the fee environment today is very different from how it was when it was developed.
  • @ABlue0ne ↶ Reply to #2951 #2953 06:19 PM, 22 Nov 2024
Yes. Companies use btcpay without counterparty. BTCpay was represented well at the Nashville conference.

Atomic learning university and or easy for dummies button ? When ever ? Or ?
  • @PeriwigReascends #2958 11:28 PM, 22 Nov 2024
I am not sure I understand the question but firemints does atomic swaps and we'll be launching horizon market which will have a psbt marketplace in the next few weeks.
  • yeah they're totally different. BTCPay is a Counterparty smart contract to complete btc trades on the DEX. btcpayserver is payment processing software.
