What’s the best way to buy XCP, is it on any exchanges?

As long as you use a current version of Horizon or Freewallet.io to send from one address to another, you should be good

from memory people were importing private keys into Bitcoin wallets but the XCP were lost

Also, what is Free wallet “classic”, was there a fork?

FW has two version running and only FW supports the 9.x version (classic)

Hey guys does anyone know how to issue numerical assets via counterparty API ? The field asset is required. So how do we create a numerical when the name is supposed to be null ?

Pick a number between 26^12+1 and 2^64-1 and place a capital A before it and use that as the asset name

I would create a number and then check if it exists and if not create and check for failure. Have not tested this but assume logic would work

Correct, the likelihood of a collision is so small that you can ignore the risk.

In principle the same as when you generate a bitcoin address. You don't check if the address already exists because a collision will never happen (..assuming adequate random number generator..)

fyi collisions do happen.. and a number of ppl do run random address generation and check address balances... occasionally you get a collision and get access to a wallet address.... Tho, I guess in shaban's case, the worst thing that could happen is he would try to do an issuance for an already existing asset and get an invalid issuance since it is not issued by the asset owner (this has happened a few times in the past)... now i'll STFU and go back into the hedges, lest I trigger the CP 2.0 troll anger 😛
