Hey guys, I need some testers. I made a simple repo to help just about anyone interact with counterparty. It’s a simple html/css/js web app that allows users to use unisat, okx, leather, and any wallet that allows signing raw hex transactions (free wallet, electrum)

Legacy addresses in web wallets don’t work yet, I’ll try to fix that this week. Segwit and taproot should work

Don’t use any main address or any assets that are too valuable. There’s a lot of testing that needs to be done.

    Here’s the repo

    Here’s the app

Mpma works with taproot encoding allowing for very cheap sends. Just need to follow the instructions

    oh that's an excellent news

a testnet version could be cool as well

    What Is CounterWalletV2?

Based on its GitHub README, CounterWalletV2 is a web-based tool designed to let users interact with the Counterparty metaprotocol directly from their Bitcoin wallet, without being tied to any specific wallet software .

    Key Features:
    • Wallet-agnostic interface — meaning you can use almost any Bitcoin wallet.
    • Simplified setup and usage for Counterparty features.
    • Support for multiple Bitcoin wallets, offering flexibility.

How It’s Easier Compared to “Before”

    1. No Need for Counterwallet or Web Interface Dependencies

Previously, interacting with the Counterparty protocol meant using specific tools like Counterwallet, which is a standalone web wallet requiring its own seed, interface, and server support . CounterWalletV2 eliminates that requirement: now, you can just use your preferred Bitcoin wallet and interface directly.

    2. Simplified Integration with Bitcoin Wallets

Instead of managing separate tools, CounterWalletV2 acts as a middle layer—letting your usual Bitcoin wallet communicate with Counterparty functionality. That’s a big win for usability and reduces project overhead.

    3. Lower Barrier to Entry & Flexibility

Users no longer need to adapt to a unique UI or manage server availability issues (which have plagued tools like Counterwallet due to maintenance or server downtime) . You can simply spin up CounterWalletV2 locally (using something like http-server) and use any compatible Bitcoin wallet to interact—much more flexible and resilient setup.

    4. Lightweight and Locally Hosted

CounterWalletV2 runs locally (e.g., with npx http-server), which means no reliance on remote servers or external services . Contrast this with older setups where users depended on the availability and reliability of Counterwallet’s remote servers.
  • It just barely works ser. Don’t get too excited yet lol
  • @herpenstein #16786 04:09 PM, 04 Sep 2025
It has two remote servers it needs, currently:
    1) the public counterparty api endpoint for data retrieval and tx construction
2)mempool.space to broadcast presigned taproot encoded txs for you

the general idea is one self contained repo that can easily be used with whatever wallet you’re using. Right now it’s difficult to on board because new users have to download wallets they don’t currently have.
  • Can we play with it now ?
  • Yes
  • @NorthrnSatosh #16789 06:26 PM, 04 Sep 2025
As noted..still beta. Use a fresh address to get acquainted
  • Only pc right now or mobile ?
  • OKX, Unisat, and Leather have mobile application with browser abilities. You should be able to connect
  • @codythecampbell #16793 07:58 PM, 04 Sep 2025
It’s says it’s not connected. Maybe I should open it in leather browser ?
  • Yes open in wallet browser.

  • I haven’t tried it on mobile, but just made an update so at least you can navigate properly
  • @deltay99 #16796 10:00 AM, 05 Sep 2025
I don't see a bug bounty program for counterparty and freewallet/tokenscan. Are there any? Is security taken seriously enough?
  • @Niftyboss1 I added support for legacy addresses, updated so it looks better on mobile and made a way for you to share a list of dispensers with a link( connect wallet then click the wallet button and click create dispenser list)
  • Nice! Will take a look sometime next week as I will be (mostly) offline for a couple days

    Anyone see the fadednjaded
Asset I like how she set that up
Mint for xcp nicely laid out
I kinda on-boarded her and she was able to figure that shit out is 5 min
    New artists pretty cool
  • That is a nice one!

Has the minting already started? I have no experience with it, and I don't know how to interpret the supply being "0":

She left it actually true fair mint
For xcp only and transaction fee
    No pre mint
Supply goes until what ever it says not sure if she put a stop block on it or not. ?
Just cool to bring new people. In hope she finds some success

    Trying this now.

I signed the message…what do I do with the signature?
  • What are you trying to do? What wallet are you using? Sign message and sign tx are different, so make sure your signing the tx and then broadcasting the tx. If your generating a taproot tx, be sure to save the file in the pop up so if something fails you can retry and you don’t lose any sats.

When signing hex, make sure to check the tx out thoroughly with a tx decoder, or someone could drain your wallet.

  • @herpenstein #16843 07:57 PM, 24 Sep 2025
Electrum and free wallet have ui components to do this. In freewallet I think it’s actions ->sign transaction
  • @herpenstein #16844 08:00 PM, 24 Sep 2025
So if you did connect wallet with free wallet and then went to fairminter, and clicked though to mint something, the CounterWalletV2 ui will present you with the tx hex you would need to sign and broadcast to complete the tx.

If I use a segwit address with a few assets, that has no risk to other addresses using the same passphrase?

  • All tx generation is done with the counterparty api by using the address that you use to sign in, so that’s the only address that should be effected. Additionally, for web wallets I did have to write some code to use bitcoinjs to recreate the returned psbts because they weren’t quite right.

No the tx fees are discounted
  • @codythecampbell #16869 02:40 PM, 28 Sep 2025
    Hmm interesting. Indeed
Wonder what miners think ? 🤔
  • @XCERXCP #16870 02:44 PM, 28 Sep 2025
Miners want more txs in the mempool for the most part to drive fees higher
  • @XCERXCP #16871 02:44 PM, 28 Sep 2025
Even if the fees are discounted, it still adds upward pressure on the fee market
  • @codythecampbell #16872 02:48 PM, 28 Sep 2025
    Big brain question?!
What happens when the btc mining reward goes away ?
Will the miners have to just crank the transaction fees up ?? Waay. Up or ?
  • @XCERXCP ↶ Reply to #16872 #16873 03:03 PM, 28 Sep 2025
The miners don’t do it, they need tx fee pressure from users

If that doesn’t happen, bitcoin dies probably unless BTC is so important, then governments and business will subsidize miners
  • @deltay99 #16874 04:00 PM, 28 Sep 2025
