I think the future of Counterparty is mostly in finding low cost/low difficulty ways of saving your private keys and creating and sharing a narrative of your tokens being fossils from the primordial ooze a la the Homebrew Computer Club.

So in the future you can have very rare and deep cuts into where these things began. For example, I transferred ownership of BRRR to wheeler and that asset is registered in 2015 the same year that ETH is launched.

Because the technical, economic, product-market fit isn’t really there for XCP. BTC people turn to Lightning for shitty tokens because BTC has the liquidity on its own and Lightning is gravy and ETH people turn to shitty tokens because it’s their only source of liquidity. ETH ate the token lunch whole. And XCP has been led, once the founders fled for higher paying opportunities, by people who are somewhat anti-capitalist while simultaneously involving themselves in a financial software project.

I think the first step would be to try and get XCP tradeable again.
You could create a simple ERC-20 wXCP token and link it to a wallet address for 'minting' new wXCP or destroying them, then set up a liquidity pool on uniswap so people can actually get XCP of they are interested in all the NFT stuff. -
I'm doing it for another token just because I'm pretty sure uniswap and other similar ETH decentralised exchanges are going to be the shitcoin casinos of the next bull run and it's where all the money will be

Another issue right now is the lack of liquidity for XCP. If your a developer and looking to benefit from improving protocol, there is not enough liquidity to benefit from the price rise of XCP.

That's the other option - we just fund one of the telegram crypto bot projects to add XCP integration and NFC. You could then trade XCP P2P and sell cards in the same way too.
I know a few of them so could get that done but not sure what it would cost, maybe 3 BTC or so. -

Dispenser
A dispenser message creates a special type of artifact on the counterparty db that watches an address for incoming main chain asset (BTC). When any BTC reaches a dispenser enabled address, the amount received gets divided by the dispenser mainchainrate (or satoshirate in the db). The quantity rounded down is the multiplier to give_quantity that is sent to the first address on the sending transaction. All dispensers that can match on an address are triggered by each BTC send that has a dispense multiplier of at least 1.
A dispenser can be in either of two status: 0 (open) or 10 (closed). -

It would make the operation of a node and it’s components faster, which you’d only notice if you were using the API, like counterwallet users do.

I would consider this a bug fix or optimization as opposed to a new feature. It’s like maintenance.

Bitcoin’s core software doesn’t come with an address index or “address book” because addresses aren’t that important for BTC, it’s more geared towards unspent outputs, their scripts and signatures, not address re-use.

Counterparty nodes need an address index because addresses and their token balances are very important throughout the code.

Counterparty used to use something called addrindex, but it became unmaintained, and then Counterparty changed to using indexd in 2018(?), and this update is to transition to a third piece of software to do the same thing.

It’s also funding for the “official” developer, which is how it matters, more than the code change itself.

If you have FreeWallet.io you can see Dispensers near Exchange. There is orders for btc, and orders not dumped in 2-3 months as at dex.

Also if you make the dispensers, there will some orders for one paying.
For example: here were put some orders from one wallet and buyer of Bitcorns got also xcp + pepecash.
Thus need to make few wallets to put orders separately. -
