A friend of mine has a theory that those who live closer to where bitcorn is grown are more religious. Because when you see how bitcorn is actually created,it gives you a real sense of awe. -

Here’s a random thought experiment about art on the blockchain.
A 1x1 black png pixel is 67 bytes which is small enough to fit in a Bitcoin op return transaction.
So the image could literally be on the blockchain. But it “looks” like:
89 50 4e 47 0d 0a 1a 0a 00 00 00 0d 49 48 44 52
It still needs to be interpreted and rendered to be seen. But you could own and transfer pixels.
Literally colored coins.
Since it’s the case that a computer would need to render the PNG bytes anyways, it would be more efficient to instead to store something like #000000 w=1, h=1.
That’s not an image file itself, though it could be interpreted and rendered as a black pixel all the same. And leave you with room for additional metadata like a title or author date.
Anything digital is compressed data down to 1s and 0s anyways. It’s the human OS rendering wetware that makes the thing work.
There’s no dollars on the blockchain and yet it’s $1T.
Is the implementation with the 67 byte PNG more valuable than the #000000 method? They ultimately represent the same image. -
Left.

Bitcorn needs more 1/1 cards
-
We have the dankness, need more rareness
-
we don't need more rareness, we need more demand. remember when Roger used to buy one of every card issued?
-
you don't need rareness to sell a 1 of 300 rarepepe for $8k
-
not like anyone cares what NFT actually means any more
-
submit some new cards people, before this game ends, or be left forever wishing you had just made that effort
-
I forgot about Roger. Does he have a tapedcorn?
-
no, and you should have said 1 of 3 in the auction, 5 were issued and 2 are at bitcorns museum right?
-
/c tapedcorn
-
I see 6 issued and 2 burned
-
But you’re 100% right. I should have said 1/3
-
Rarer
-
weird, I didn't check the actual blockchain explorer just saw it at https://bitcorns.com/cards/TAPEDCORN
-
Dan might've stolen one and covered it up by faking the numbers
-
-
The multi send, was your quantity 1 or was it 100,000,000 for sats?

Two transactions to the bitcorn submission address just hit

Noob question incoming: how do I get art work to show up on xchain for things not related to an XCP project. How do you know the art work is related to the token without having to host it and the point to that location?
-
-
-
-
The above format would be more of a standard created by FreePort to define an imgur link and title in the asset description as plain text.
^ Imgur hosts image (but only Imgur), not part of protocol. Image reference is on chain. -
XCP has as part of its protocol spec enhanced asset info, where you can define an icon image as part of a JSON object.
^ Need to host the JSON and image, but is part of protocol. Icon reference is off chain. -
There’s probably some in between that could become part of the protocol through a CIP. But like the FreePort approach of setting a standard it would still need to be adopted by sites crawling XCP.
-
How most of the sites work today is a gallery/central service is source of truth for which asset and images are linked and the hosting thereof and a custom getter is made per gallery API.
-
Easiest thing would be to extend the enhance asset info feature because that’s basically a little API endpoint per asset which is pretty powerful, but the downside is most people are not prepared to host their own JSON file and if they are they aren’t likely to host it consistently forever.
-
That’s why Freeport approach is decent because Imgur is likely to host the image forever (or a sufficiently long time into the future).
-
Freeport is chill
-
I can probably make digirare support it for the handful of clowns that use it
-
Noob question? I think not.
-
That would be worthwhile for us clowns.
-
I tried the JSON file strategy for several tokens, since that one really is part of the counterparty protocol. The main problem with that is exactly what you said, you need to maintain that JSON file hosted somewhere. Forever. I let one domain name expire, forgetting that it had this JSON file, so I need to update the description to point somewhere else.
-
What I don't like about it is - how can a buyer tell that the image is original? But if I store the hash in the token description field to ensure the image is unchanged, there's no reference to the image for a program to display.
-
r/NFT has people who want to creat bitcorn NFTs
-
Bitcorn is tough right meow since I’m running a Counterparty fork it’s possible my server won’t recognize an asset due to consensus mismatch. Happened with latest submission.
-
We're in a parallel bitcorns universe?
-
-
Ok guess it wasn’t a noob question but seemed like something I should have known after all these years. Turns out we are all just winging it
-
This would be great but then also requires digirare lives on forever right?
-
It’s hard to keep up with the changes made to XCP because the way I coded my sites I basically reimplemented XCP for parsing. But I haven’t had time to write code to handle dispensers, multi sends, destroys, etc. it takes time to upgrade fednode and reparse blockchain and then more time to code and test changes to my sites and reparse XCP.
-
I just screenshot tokens I like. Now I own them
-
Nothing stays gold pony boy
-
This is true for exchanges also, to a lesser degree, and part of why it got dropped by some.
-
Fork it harder
-
Xcp.io
-
That’s 💯 vapor wave
-
Why I brought this up is the TESSERACT art. The Json host is invalid. I’d like to tokenize farm art but don’t want to spend time hosting it. Imgur seems like the best option
-
Does anyone here have a Lindsey Lohan contact? I think she’d love bitcorns
-
A late idea but in our prime we should have created farm art tokens and had it recognized on Bitcorn site. Crest markets and whatnot
-
Here’s an Imgur one http://xchain.io/asset/A11193118127660742004

Can you use Freeport but spend the 0.5xcp to get an name?
