Be careful advertising and using this for BTC addresses. Some versions of steganography apps are very easy to detect in an automated way.

If it’s encoded even at a basic level it will be perfectly safe.

Just a short alphanumeric seed known by the sender and receiver would be adequate.

Someone might be able to tell there is something there if they really scanned it closely, but they would have mush unless they had the seed.

Just saying, it's usually trivially easy to tell there's something encoded. And data at rest means there's plenty of time to brute force. So I wouldn't risk large amounts of money.

I will put this theory of yours to the test.

I think you're asking me, but I'm not gonna waste my time trying. Machine learning algos scour the net though, on behalf of corps like Getty Images looking for watermarks. ML algos working on behalf of state actors presumably look for messages passed out of country. Criminal outfits are starting to use these ML techniques to look for Bitcoin addresses too.

I think the real question is why would you do this? There are plenty of programs to do this which are battle tested.

Well, you say that there are plenty of other battle hardened, extant things there for steganography BUT none fit the bill for what I wanted to do, which is robust and invisible to the human eye, without detracting from the quality of what is being stamped.

The claims made to such quality and resiliency are far from accurate.

The algorithm is unimportant for my uses. THe way it is stamped, is important.

99.9% of steg stuff out there runs on single pixel stuff that gets erased with a simple resave of the jpeg.

The old ones that use LSB and embed files are the sloppiest. But people don't usually use those to do anything important. If you didnt invent some new algo, you're just copying someone else's work.

I already told you we're using QR. I made no claims to the newness of what we are stamping, merely how.

Anyways, I can shoot those images from this monitor, on my smartphone, and still decode the result.
