there was never ever a second since i am using freewallet that it would have been bugs free. each time i instal new update my first question is always the same "do they even tested it".
so my advice would be:

1st annoying bug on freewallet to start with:
if the wallet brings any error in fee calculation the error would never close even if you edit the numbers. or in other words, each error pop up require to close the tab. -
editing the fee and fixing the cause of error still does not make the wallet to work until you close the tab and try again

Our first goal has always been to do whatever we could to keep the network unified. There have been a few bugs of course (mea culpa 🙏) but we have been fixing them *aggressively*. I would argue even if one had to do 5 transactions to ensure they are safe to use is better than only having to do 1 trans but having risk that you get scammed. Atomic swaps as an onramp/offramp to the CP universe
Historically, the DEX has worked fine to use XCP or pepecash to buy and sell NFTs and other counterparty assets.
However, it was completely unusable for trading with BTC.
So if anyone wanted to start trading CP assets on the DEX, the only onramp was to buy XCP through the highly problematic dispensers.
IF the atomic swap feature enables smooth/quick/reliable trading between BTC and XCP, it will immensely improve the ease with which new users can enter the CP universe and start trading CP assets (along with others like runes, ordinals, etc.).
The lack of a smooth on/offramp was also probably a key factor for why many of the high value rarepepes ended up being traded on ETH based collectible platforms.
Hopefully there will be a great leap in overall trading activity in rarepepes and other NFTs on the native CP platform once atomic swaps are in place. -

I think we all became so used to the way things were (impossible to trade with BTC on DEX), that we just adjusted and forgot how much of an impediment it was to onboarding new users.

The big board on rarepepewallet was my favorite way of browsing and buying Rare Pepe cards. It's how I finally figured out how to use Counterparty back in the day. I bought 100K PEPECASH from Rare Pepe Trader and went on a shopping spree.
Since then, whenever I had a little pile of PEPECASH or XCP I would head over to the Big Board and see if there were any cards there that I didn't have that were in my price range.
Worked every time. Never had one issue. Never had one question. I didn't know who listed them or why, but they were there for anyone to buy at any time. -

Yes, the exchange was great for XCP and pepecash holders.
The problem was no reliable way for anyone with BTC or other crypto to get into the system (buy XCP/pepecash).
And for those who made some big $$$ selling rarepepes for XCP/pepecash, it was hard to get back to BTC.
I imagine that is why so many rarepepes ended up trading on places like Opensea.
Hopefully we can bring that back to counterparty!!! -

Honestly, I'm a Counterparty maxi. I look at ETH drops and Ordinals, etc. But Counterparty is where my very favorite group of people and artists reside.

I hear you, but call me crazy, I think we need a channel for general discussion of Counterparty that isn't completely filled with toxic nonsense that has zero connection to reality. There's no separate Counterparty 2.0 or Counterparty v10 or whatever. It's all backwards-compatible lol. There's just J-Dog attacking the network _again_ because the iron grip he has held on the ecosystem for years, preventing it from growing at all, is evaporating.

Don't get me wrong... I know we're in a shitty situation. After Counterwallet broke last year (when J-Dog broke it — https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/1294) everyone was forced to use Freewallet (...) which, despite its issues, is still the only feature-complete Counterparty wallet out there. Now J-Dog has said he's going to fork (to the last version that he committed to), users that stick with Freewallet are at risk of loss of funds and so everyone needs to switch. Others are building alternatives, but that takes time, and switching is painful. Add to that the confusion caused by all of the nonsense that he's peddling... it's very frustrating.
