Hopefully he changes that but I don't really see a change to what's happened in the past
-
I even helped to pay him to develop full time and got no core features
-
I'm not asking for your opinion on JDog and his development. I'm suggesting that JDog consider commenting on his view of this specific topic as well.
-
The proofs in the commits
-
Are you saying more commits wins?
-
I'm saying commits equal development.
-
You either putting the work in or you're not
-
They can't help themselves
-
Freewallet runs the most updated version of Counterparty
-
Cool
-
-
I know many shitcoiners revert to how they build more. It's a strange view considering they don't have direct insights into other people's lives and what others are doing.
-
It's deflection.
-
from what? what is the point you’re trying to make?
-
When you type j d o g the vampires come for blood
-
Sorry

WTHD
-
Imho, moving a decimal point does not create liquidity
High frequency trading will happen when there are more users
Look at other projects who did this already? Moving the decimal point didn't help the Shiba Inu users much. -
I've been with XCP since the beginning. Shout out to Adam, JDog, and all who have kept this protocol running for so long.
-
I don’t know anything about this… they tried to move the decimal point? SHIBs marketcap is $12,000,000,000.
-
Maybe the theory of reducing the required xcp fee to do such functions could provide similar result ? Without moving the decimals over on the supply, which could be like a last resort ?
-
-
-
then why not just simply reduce protocol fees for creating assets from 0.5 xcp to 0.05 xcp? (Along with the other features that use xcp)
-
It’s perception
-
this makes more sense as increasing the supply would surely create more fud
-
-
-
-
Financial engineering for whom and what specific reason?
-
is 5 dollars really too much to issue a named asset at this time?
-
Holders of XCP
-
-
Saylors tokenization presentation had the cost at around $40 so we still cheap! XCP to $80
-
-
-
-
Satoshi please financial engineer me
-
Xcp at $100 killed asset creation
-
That’s exactly what he did
-
-
No
-
-
If $100 kills asset creation it probably didnt need to be created in the first place. Tell them to go to dogeparty
-
Maybe
-
You are comparing yourself to Satoshi and clearly you make different decisions
-
-
I didn't say that
-
If major corporations start to tokenize a higher price to create would be more attractive to them imo
-
"financially engineer"=change max supply
-
Based.
No spaghetti
No dirty wall..
I know... Coming from me that's rich.....🙏 -
This is a weird conversation. The only proposal I've heard has been to change the unit of XCP. This would *not* to increase the supply. It would have precisely zero economic effects. It's just renaming "cents" to "dollars".
Reducing fees otoh *would* have economic consequences. Serious ones. (I'm all for changing the existing broken fee structure, fwiw. Right now it's a terrible barrier to entry into the ecosystem. But the way to do that it to make the fees dynamic, based on tx volume, the way we did with attach transactions, so that the fees are exactly 0 when usage is below a threshold value.) -
Looks good in wallet is short view. Long view is seeing max supply change after 10 years.
-
Why is this change important?
-
-
-
-
-
"Looks good in wallet" & "Liquidity"?
-
-
Yeah, he still good.. still has his other 250,000 Bitcoin he didn’t tell anyone about
-
Poll currently 13 NO, 2 YES
-
But honestly not trying to shut down the convo. Still want to understand.
-
If you want to be poor, vote no
If you want to be rich, vote yes -
This is a textbook case of how not to construct a poll. It's asking like three different questions all at once. I voted "no" myself. It gives casual readers the idea that there's now consensus or something.
1. It's obviously not the time to make another substantive protocol change of any kind.
2. Moving the decimal place won't "increase liquidity".
3. Moving the decimal place won't change the supply. -
What if you're already rich?
-
If you want to be rich, vote no
If you want to be super rich, vote yes -
Agree with 1 and 2
-
I would assume that explorers and other informational sites would update max supply in some manner.
-
-
-
-
Classic could appear more rare.
-
Technically it's just a change in terminology rather than an increase in supply but perception matters so it's worth considering
-
Peoples perceptions are worth considering
-
-
But my reverence for the individual is infinite
-
Why did you inflate USD basis there sir.
-
Top of the curve stuff
-
not sure how you have been here from the beginning but can't understand its not debasing anyone from an increase
-
-
We hate money over. Money bad, then we can build all sorts of stuff.
-
I was referring to Xcer specific example with USD increase
-
-
You are one person
-
Are you American? Is English your first language, really curious.
-
-
Ya poll wasn't worded correctly however the convo is stimulated and many great perspectives
-
Supply would change from 2.4mill to 240mill, price per token would decrease from $10 to .10cents but your ratio of coins you own to the supply would remain u changed.
This would improve liquidty and remove barriers of price to high to buy/create assets. -
Thanks for your comments Adam. Always nice to know where the lead devs stand.
-
-
Kicking up new users by spreading this poll around to other xcp groups to get feedback
-
I was away and confused. Is this the new official chat?
I am having trouble with wallet. Counterwallet doesnt work anymore right?
Which wallet can be used after the fork? I assume freewallet is for the "classic" ones? and what official wallet is used now by the new maintainers? -
-
I hate this so much
-
Horizon wallet seems to be the preferred wallet instead of freewallet. With the horizon market, it should have alot more functionality.
-
Thanks. Appreciate it.
So horizon
But what about the other questions that I asked -
-
Nope, the networks are completely separate
-
The only substantial chance for confusion is on tokenscan
-
I assume freewalet could host the forked cards right?
How can you detect the forked cards on tokenscan or somewhere else?
Appreciate it -
fw supports both, check each ledger to see
-
Freewallet supports the new Counterparty 2.0 ... And the version on the Freewallet website is v2.0.1 and includes more Counterparty functionality than all other wallet at this time
You really have to go out of your way to find and download Freewallet Classic
Sad to see you were probably influenced by the scary big red warnings on the xcp website? Is that correct? -
or maybe the big red warning on every tokenscan page
-
-
-
-
-
this is all silly, no one is using the fork and no one even really knows why it exists at all, and everyone is bored of talking about it. you do have to go out of your way to download freewallet classic, but it is very easy to accidentally find yourself on tokenscan classic by accidentally clicking the link that is present on every single page, hence my answer
-
this answer
-
The only substantial chance for confusion is on tokenscan
-
Yeah silly but if any confused person asks a question the vampires rise from their coffins
-
Lol old time user just popped in... Asked why Counter wallet wasn't up and then assumed the wrong information due to your warnings
-
-
This isn't the chat to argue about the fork. It's time to end this discussion. The user received an accurate and fair answer, and all of this extra discussion is just pointless shit stirring

You think I'm arguing about a fork?
I volunteered to write a user manual to educate users (and took hundreds of hours writing it) on how to use Counterparty and y'all slapped a big warning on a wallet that literally runs your protocol version and includes more extensive and comprehensive functionality that all the other wallets
Then when old users come in assuming incorrect information due to your warnings on the XCP website you simply push them to Horizon
THEN you act like a security guard and restrict further discussion
After also studying the history of xcp I'm not sure y'all truly realize how non-beneficial Vector's social skills are to this community. @teysol how many community members got to express this to you before you take it seriously
Sunset FW after you have a working comprehensive replacement, since that is your goal... (As pointed out a long time ago by Kane on the last Emblem space Adam was on) -
I am not a horizon dev, i didn’t put the warning on the website, and I didn’t even tell this user to use Horizon.
-
So whats your purpose exactly as admin of the cp chat
-
To be an admin of this chat
-
-
Secret society admin agenda
-

-
I agree victor the vampire is a terrible representative for counterparty.
-
-
-
He has proven it time and again from day 1
-
How he came to represent us is still unknown
-
Anonymous pet trolls are fun though
-
-
I can give examples of my positivity if you'd like
-
-
I have a bit of a skewed view from participating in the vampire chat, I confess
-
Almost none of you have seen the administration of this chats behavior there
-
@davesta I didn't see @banlee5 assuming anything incorrect. As far as I'm concerned it's actively dangerous to use Freewallet or Tokenscan, given the fact that that software has been used to fork and attack the network twice in the past twelve months. We put the warning up the second time.
I'm not sure people hate @vectorconfetti so much. Are they jealous that he's an admin of this channel and also a new face? I know him and trust him. He's technically competent, reasonable, and extremely helpful. -
You haven’t been around in 10 years and you’re the only one that knows him. Seems like you should be a bit more balanced with the current community but that doesn’t seem to matter these days
-
-
-
Imo
-
Wow.
When Monaparty forked the network it was left on the website for many years as the community was proud the Japanese token enthusiasts chose to do their own thing....
When Overstock forked there was a proud written article on the xcp website wishing them good luck....
And now your reasoning for pointing out Vector's terrible record of handling people (and vast majority of people already here before y'all came back) is because we are JEALOUS?
my God wtf -
I mean I'm not gonna start forwarding messages or anything but...

I just want a good leader for the protocol that I love

I thought it was more in line with what I was trying to convey

Counterparty is a centralized protocol with decentralized features

Always was

It is already happening, yet some people still do not see it. Just saying

Counterparty was extremely centralized from 2019 to 2023, basically a 1 man playground

the only person i've ever seen warrant a ban in 7 years is Damien. He has issues.

I truly enjoy him even though it appears he detests me

Youre the only person I've ever banned which is top kek

Same with stack. I like knowing the meanest because it shows how welcoming the vast majority of the community actually is

I actually removed myself from the room, and gmoney messaged me and told me i could come back but chose not to

gmoney also blocked me after calling out jdog so whatever

I used to be inclined to read the backlog in this chat.
-
-
imagine if they only worked in the horizon wallet setup
-
even i would rage
-
Ive only ever used this site before - https://ordinalswallet.com/ and it seemed to work pretty wellOrdinals Wallet
Ordinals Wallet is a non-custodial wallet and marketplace built for Bitcoiners.
-
ya thats my question so could potentially we sell our assets on these other platforms?
-
if we can PSBT then we should be able to PSBT everywhere I would assume, and that would open a lot of wallets AND marketplaces
-
but if someone wanted to keep it on their marketplace and made it so the signatures were unique to the wallet only in the protocol that would really suck
-
Thats the entire idea. Attaching assets to UTXOs makes it possible for those platforms to integrate CP assets into all those platforms and all current web wallets
-
It’s now just a matter of adoptions. Technically it’s now pretty easy for them to do it
-
-
-
So I have an asset attached to a utxo currently. I can send that utxo to ME and then once they implement the viewing of counterparty assets it will be visible in ME?
-
I would not do anything like that yet!
The update provided a utxo based tx structure that is compatible with their infrastructure. That said, actually being able to use the assets on ME will require ME to support counterparty utxo based assets, which they currently do not. -
They may or may not ever decide to support counterparty
-
Regardless of if ME supports cp or not, various parties will step in and try to be the market leader for cp psbt trading.

Not sure what is happening over at the "official" Counterparty Chat TG group, but when I post over there it seems to get autodeleted within seconds.
I can post "test" and it stays, but more substantial posts (even innocuous things like an XCP dispenser notice) seem to just disappear as soon as I post them. -
I can't recall publicly arguing or insulting anyone —- not sure why I would be on a "bad boy" list for autodeletion of posts.
-
Consider a DM to the dog, maybe he can help or explain further
-
I honestly can't recall causing any trouble in any of the public chats.

Maybe censorship is a real thing

Maybe tit for tat
-
please discuss moderation of other rooms in the rooms where they happen or over DM, thanks!

Thanks Vector — I would, but based on recent experience it looks like it would get autodeleted.
Perhaps this is of interest to some here? Perhaps not. -
Am I now in trouble for mentioning this issue here?
-
nope, just a request
-
NP, just seemed relevant given that some community members have complained of excessive moderation here.
I was surprised that when I posted it just vanished instantly — several times. -
I got the ban hammer also in that room

I got banned to

Never said anything in that room

Why are you ignoring Vector's request?

Because it now seems it has spread across more users.

Yeah, lots of people got banned but please refrain from discussing it in this room, it just starts drama and it’s not productive

Np.

thanks guys

Thank you all for the feedback.
We can now make educated guesses on what might be occurring. -
I could forward it again

seems to be alot of misinformation regarding PSBTs going around, people claiming CENTRALIZATION and what not, if anyone has any questions wrt PSBT atomic swaps feel free to ask, javier from firemints and I settled the first atomic swap on Counterparty back in October so I might be able to provide some insight
-
Also interesting is how everyone overlooks how utxo binding gives users replay protection from any future fork
-
I think all the vampires got banned

I heard they don’t like sunlight

Can you explain how this works

Hey, Gmoney, I like a lot of the info you put out.
But I wonder, is it helpful/constructive to refer to the current maintainers (and/or their supporters) of Counterparty as "vampires"?
How does this benefit any of us? -
I never said that

Maybe I misunderstood — who are the "vampires" referred to above?

FWIW I noticed I can follow your channel, but banned from your chat, so let me respond to an important topic here (apologies all):
-
-
May have been the bot I can add you back. You need to create a handle tho on tg
-
I having recently discovered, and am currently studying the thesis that:
*BTC is being promoted by the the oligarchy (whoever they may be) as "digital gold," not as a P2P payment system. They want us to HODL and use it only as a reserve asset.
*Stable coins (Tether etc) will be promoted for use in small transactions, cross border payments for families and small businesses, etc.
*Stable coins based on algos will be banned (supposedly in the bill from Wyoming —- apologies if I get this reference wrong), and only stable coins backed by US treasuries will be allowed.
*This will funnel money into US treasuries, and allow for a transition from the "petro dollar" to the "bitcoin dollar" (bitcoin replacing gold as the reserve asset and stable coins as the mechanism for promoting international purchases of US treasuries (debt). -
-
Added you back my bot removes folks without handles sometimes cause we get lots of spam
-
Sorry —- I won't take it further and Gmoney has added me to his chat, so I'll follow up with it there for now.
-
but I also don't think its helpful when folks in here attack JDog either
-
2 more weeks
-
Come back often
-
I would say it to him directly if he didn’t ban me. And I never attacked him until he banned me from both of his rooms one of which I never say anything. Asking questions is not trolling, I made the sin of posting in a room that has free speech that he didn’t like.
-
I asked you for help actually gmoney after he did that and you blocked me
-
Bro you were spreading fake news and wouldnt shut up about it
-
your mind was already made up I dont have the time to argue
-
It’s actually not made up at all. I’m curious as to what will happen moving forward and open to all possibilities that make sense.
-
I think we agree on a lot more than you think. I’m primarily for anything that strengthens the protocol and drives traffic to transacting on dex and using xcp. I’m not a fan of vaults and directing business away from it. So however that plays out I’m open to. I’m not a fan of jdogs attitude and the way he has decided to proceed. It’s counterproductive. I also don’t fully trust him and think he has milked XP for years without doing anything. Anyway, that’s my two cents.
-
"Vampires" is in reference to what i call the Vampire chat, a chat of narcissists run rampant. The administration here are participatoors in the blood letting. Not the Lead Counterparty Dev though. The Horizon dev is in there
-
Its a gamma hive directed at past administration of counterparty
-
It is morphing into something different these past few days I will admit
-
@LongbranchBear, you should meet me in New Orleans sometime in the French quarter at the Dungeon.
-
assets bound to utxos are, in a way, locked into the counterparty version at time of binding because they now ride the bitcoin rails in terms of ownership, as long at they remain bound changes in counterparty largely do not affect them
-
again the attacks... but please list all the thngs you provided to xp to keep it running over the past 10 years? did you donate to J directly, do you use his open secure free software??? cry me a river

i disagree that "chaos was needed", its just you and the pepe project pals contributing to it, not sure what your goal is since none of you are actually using counterparty classic

"Looney" is an informal, derogatory term that means someone is acting strangely, crazy, eccentric, or behaving in an unusual way. For example, you might describe someone as "looney" if they are wearing mismatched clothes or talking to themselves...
the memes write themselves 🤣 -
hasnt been a send on classic in 11 days, there are zero developers outside of jdog, im just curious what your end game is, personally i dont think you have one, just thriving in the chaos

classic is "insurance"

bitcoin is insurance my man
-
I was complaining about other stuff. I never wanted to use classic. Most classic talk came from 2.0

we can break that streak if you sell the classicamoto

if it was a thing id be able to dump my fake rares

So no matter what version a swap marketplace decides to run in the event of a fork, it does not matter until the asset exits the uxto to CP?
-
pretty much, but only for those assets bound to utxos prior to fork
-
-
utxo binding empowers users, theres finally a path for long term passive pepe storage
-
How does this differ from holding assets not binded in a CP wallet?
Does it take away the security risk of a possible security flaw being programmed into the CP software since the asset is independent of CP? -
You can transfer them without using a counterparty message
there is some nuance here of course, a new version of counterparty could have a rule that after it’s spent, a utxo based asset is automatically detached without a detach message or something to that effect -
But I think trending toward utxo based ownership is the best path for long term storage
-
LOL WTF

Bought them 10years ago.... sent them to hell yesterday

There are several unrevealed factors in play from JDog's side. Xchain soon. Perhaps Counterwallet soon. BTNS. It could be that users are waiting to see how things develop before they go thru the process of claiming classic safely.

there's some fixes that need to go in on the search bar -
Thanks Vector
-
no, this is something you made up
-
Sorry, as has been stated, this is not a place to discuss Jdogparty.
-
Yeah, that just means this chat is to discuss Counterparty, not any other projects. You can see people are often sharing links to all available explorers, and no one (except you) has ever made a comment about it
-
Adam suggested any discussion of BTNS, classic, and XChain was considered off limits as "JDOGPARTY"
-
yes, those projects have their own chats
-
No they don't

I thought they were also "Counterparty related" but it was suggested otherwise. I assumed anything associated with JDog was banned.

Notes:
- As always just DM me if any questions or issues with these dispensers
- Larger lots are also available OTC - DM for more info
- Some XCP lots are also available on the atomic swaps market (rug-free!):

@MachineUser don't spread cheap lies
-
Adam to be fair you shot down discussion of Classic, BTNS, and Xchain and mentioned "JDogparty". I assumed you wanted no discussion of anything related to JDog. Tokenscan is realted to JDog.
-
I was responding to a user about classic usage.
-
-
Okay so I want to open a dispenser with all that’s happening now what the hell so it do haha
On main addy ! ? Or three transactions to a new addy ? -
Stories about the "changes to dispenser functionality" are simply FUD. I can't speak to what other wallets support, but it's a one-step operation in Horizon Wallet (to create the dispenser on a new address, as always; it's just two tx under the hood). You can ask about that https://t.me/HorizonXCPHorizon Market
https://horizon.market
-
Or is this market thing all we can do now ?
-
Ya
-
i just opened a dispenser using the ninja wallet using 1 signing, 2 txs are created simultaneously.
-
depends on wallet you are using and if its been engineered to do such

Can binding assets to utxo be defined as a bridge ?
-
I like to think of it as similar to storing the asset in an emblem vault
-
-
That's the convo devs are debating and referencing
-
So was like hmm... interesting they referred to assets in utxos as a bridge
-
But emblem is still not really permissionless. Need their systems to be online to Crack vault, and move assets back
-
Binding assets to utxos is more sovereign, I think
-
The only argument they would have is the xcp fee for binding
-
Will be interesting what they do. Sounds like they are reverse engineering CounterParty to cater to runes and ordinals
-
"Bitcoin Explorer "
-
-
I'm just trying to understand their vocabulary as it's being used for same applications
-
Or I mean similar applications
-
Bring applications to tokens and assets by bridging them to a protocol where they'll gain features
-
I love emblem but if they can move your assets to new vaults, I assume that means they have the keys
It’s a like a decentralized CEX -
But the protocol uses Bitcoin wallet, Bitcoin fee
-
It's not a perfect system. But they the only engineers pursuing the space. The space is all based on trust. And no one is forced to use such services.
-
But when the Ordinal dev are discussing bridging their runes and Ordinals to another "layer" or it's another "index" that runs in synch with the ord client
-
"Casey will run the ord client repo as he pleases "
-
So the Q. What do outside developers do if they want to participate on ordinals, but the core is not accepting of their request
-
A. Another metaprotocol that works with those assets, and by carrying assets over they gain functions.
-
But this comes the issue of gaining liquidity or consensus. Becoming a space standard
-
This kind of reminds me of how stamps had to engineer src20s to run in parallel on the stampchain index, which also works along side CounterParty
-
wow they can? that seems odd. you send a CP asset to a btc address within a vault. and then they can move that to another address and CP will reflect that?
-
No I think they move the vault itself
-
So like eth vault can move to sol vault or something like that
-
Q. So we can bind multiple assets to 1 utxo under the condition of: "has to be done in 1 transaction" ?
-
I think only multiples of the same asset
-
@teysol had made a comment of: "the only way to have two assets on the same UTXO is to have an asset attached to the UTXO that you spend in the attach"
-
Ahhh I see so attach to an already bound utxo
-
Yeah that makes sense
-
So I can bind more then 1 asset to a utxo. But I must do it in 1 transaction
-
No you would do it in multiple txs
-
Does binding assets to utxo’s effect the scalability of the xp protocol
-
Ordinals Theory was discussing scenarios were they may be able to bind more then one inscription to 1 utxo. Build a master piece from multiple Inscriptions. Or use that utxo as a WL singing (if user owns X,y,z, in 1 utxo) it can be used as a pass
-
Not sure what you’re asking
-
You can load a utxo by spending and attaching as many times as you want with as many different assets as you want
-
scalability, no. performance yes
-
utxo binding seems great for long term holding but doesn’t seem like a preferred method for masses if we use an internal gas system to trade xp assets
-
It’s the best way to buy and sell with bitcoin, not sure what internal gas system you’re talking about
-
Plus if it gets enough use it will incur a cost in xcp to bind assets
-
-
To send assets?
-
That doesn’t sound right
-
Bitcoin Layer 1
-
Bitcoin is your gas fee.
-
Oh those relay things ?
-
The things Devon was working on years ago?
-
Something like that. Where another token maybe accepted ...something something
-
Just remember discussions on it
-
It always gets brought up when fees spike and then they go back down and everyone forgets about it
-
But those for transfers I think. Not for atomic swaps
-
Atomic is utxo bitcoin language
-
Yea the thing I’m talking about was for sends
-
I think that's what the case use was for
-
-
I think people get all the terminology mixed up too, utxo psbt and atomic swap are all separate things
-
No one is increasing supply
-
Terminology is 100% friction to comprehending what's being done or what's trying to be achieved
-
Dividend whatever u know what I meant
