Tokens are coming to Dogecoin. Dogeparty is back at dogeparty.net
The Dogeparty platform first launched in 2014 giving Dogecoin users the ability to mint and send tokens directly over Dogecoin. Two and a half years later, the last Dogeparty node shut down, due to a lack of funding to maintain the platform, taking Dogeparty offline.
Durign the original burn the Dogecoin burn address DDogepartyxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxw1dfzr was used and that wallet that holds 1,854,583,682 Dogecoin currently worth over $590,000,000. These funds are not accessible as there is no known key.
Even though the last Dogeparty node went offline 5 years ago, the original Dogeparty data still exists on Dogecoin.
Dogeparty doesn’t store data, it reads and writes data onto Dogecoin.
Dogeparty is being rebooted with the entire original transaction history and wallet balances from 5 years ago, including all XDP burns, and assets/tokens that were issued.
Since Dogeparty is a fork of Counterparty (counterparty.io), the reboot of Dogeparty will include the latest version of Counterparty software with dispenser technology and NFT sub-assets and many more exciting features.
To avoid future funding issues of maintaining the public Dogeparty codebase and servers, the reboot will include a new burn period that will last two months.
Unlike the original burn, the Dogecoin generated during the new bern period will go directly into a community fund wallet that will be controlled by a community elected Dogeparty Foundation.
To avoid confusion, we’re calling this a Bern, as in do you feel the bernnnn.
The new bern period will commence on September 1st with a rate of 1.5 XDP per 10 Dogecoin berned. The bern period will last 86,400 blocks, approximately 2 months, with the bern reward declining each block for a final bern rate of 1 XDP per 10 Dogecoin.
To get the party started, we’re going to be giving away a bunch of cool Doge NFTs so make sure to follow us on Twitter @DogepartyXDP to score some.
To the Dogecoin community, we are super excited to reboot Dogeparty with the latest Counterparty technology. We look forward to helping send Dogecoin to infinity and beyond.
To get started learning about the Dogeparty platform please visit the official site at https://dogeparty.net
To get started using Dogeparty, you will need to use a dogeparty compatible wallet which can be found at https://dogeparty.net/wallets
To view the tokens and transactions taking place on the Dogeparty network, you can use a dogeparty explorer which can be found at https://dogeparty.net/explorers
To learn more about the Dogeparty Foundation and its purpose and how the foundation will be elected, you can visit the official website at https://dogeparty.net/foundation/
For developers who are interested in learning more about how Dogeparty works, we have a documentation repo setup at https://github.com/DogepartyXDP/Documentation, and our our official github repo lives at https://github.com/DogepartyXDP. (Note: the dogeparty-lib and dogeparty-cli repos will remain private until after the burn period, after which point those repo will become public as well). -
@XCERXCP @hodlencoinfield ^^ there is the very basic announcement that we have... clearly can be much improved to make it less dry, hype up more about the history, reference NFTs, etc.... really appreciate all your help joe to make this announcement fun 🙂

i'll be taking the beta.dogeparty.net site live later tonight at dogeparty.net...

it was a good movie for sure... and the meme power is strong with that movie 🙂

That’s so true. I honestly can’t remember it but besides them carrying Bernie around dead and hot chicks.. I was probably like 9 hahah

-
good meme power to start
-
looooool
-
this one is great
-
does the foundation need any legal help? have a local friend that loves doge and is a lawyer
-
-
I think that be cool but I know Jdog has someone he’s working with.
-
let me know, i can invite him in, hes my neigjbor
-
right now foundation doesn't exist other than in name and with us 3 founders on it... we aren't going to take any actions to actually setup a legit foundation (company) until after the foundation elections happen and the elected ppl decide how they want to set things up
-
sounds good
-
went down the road with robbyd trying to setup 503c company... and we saw how that went... years later still trying to unwind that mistake.. 😛

just pushed the new dogeparty site live at dogeparty.net and updated it to include info on the "Bern".... please review and let me know if you feel it needs more tweaks... or additional FAQ questions (perhaps about the previous platform existing since 2014, etc)... open to suggestions to make the website more fun and informative
-
Going to take some time to look at everything this weekend
-
perfect! thanks Joe... really appreciate your help and feedback 🙂

dogeparty reworked
Dogeparty Dogeparty is a smart contract built on top of the Dogecoin (DOGE) network for minting tokens and NFTs. It was initially launched in August/September 2014. What? In January 2014, the Counterparty smart contract (counterparty.io) was released which allowed anyone to mint tokens on Bitco...

Better late than never!
-
Was working on it last night and fell asleep on the couch luckily computer didn’t fall on the floor lol
-
looks good joe.. thanks for your help
-
👍🏼
-
Nice!
-
I think we should remove all comparisons to counterparty about why it’s better
-
Doesn’t make sense to market it that way
-
Like the whole section that says 10x cheaper, 10x faster can probly just be removed
-
It should complement counterparty rather than compete
-
The value is in the meme and the history
-
-
Doge
-
Doge meme
-
10x cheaper makes sense to remove (since that is not the case anymore since price of DOGE has risen so much)... but the 10x faster makes more sense to keep I think... since block times are faster, therefore transactions get processed faster
-
Yeah I just think the messaging is confusing because it’s supposed to compliment not compete with counterparty
-
It is faster but do you think that’s going to be the reason someone uses it?
-
I think the reason would be more so because dogecoin is fun and dogeparty is historical
-
yes... I do... like some ppl use ETH cuz of the fast transaction times of 6+ seconds... i'll def kill the cheaper section tho.. and consider the 10x faster argument some more
-
crazy busy with xchain updates this AM.... hoping this latest round of changes fixes the xchain data... the update last night broke things worse (left dispensers appearing as open when they were in fact closed).
-
might bump the launch date another week or so... want to make sure that we are ready for it, and honestly, not feeling ready (technical stuff is ready, but not organized on the other social media front... plus need to figure out xchain issues and fix, cuz same shit will happen on dogeparty)
-
Other chains are faster, people use eth cause that’s where liquidity is
-
now that is the case, initially that was not the case
-
Good thinking
-
In a way you’re lucky to have load testing now so you can prepare better
-
Also people used eth initially cause it was cheap 😂
-
will be happy when counterparty is running on a modern mysql/mariaDB database so I can do away with counterparty2mysql... the porting of the data from CP database (sqlite) to mysql is the cause of many headaches
-
Is that in the works?
-
yes... Javier and I would like to do that, John wanted to as well... but it is no small undertaking, as it requires a bunch of database changs and testing
-
prolly sometime in 2022
-
In fact, I want to do it so bad, hahhahahaha
-
I wonder what Dan used for xcpfox

-
FYI his repo has been open for a couple years... but gotta know/dev in laravel... and i'm not versed in it
-
dan queried XCP sqlite database directly... which is why things were so slow
-
xchain is "fast" cuz all the addresses/assets/transactions are indexed which makes things go MUCH faster than looking up via full text searches (which is what has to happen in sqlite, cuz all addresses/assets/transactions are written many times)
-
Ahhh ok
-
Makes sense all his stuff is in laravel
