probably whatever has happened is not meant with malice, drop some details.

counterwallet and freewallet.io desktop are all open-source, so you can review the code and verify that the passphrase never leaves your local browser/wallet... and all the servers are run by me to ensure that no one has modified any of the code from the official repos...... I would say they are pretty secure... I will also be working on getting the hardware wallet integration working again in Freewallet in the coming weeks/month -

Joe looney developed the rarepepewallet.com and originally hosted it himself, but I now host that for him as well.... been spending some time over the past couple days setting up some additional servers to handle hosting stuff... soon xchain should be running from 3 boxes, and counterparty will have a few more API servers to rely on..... also working on fixing a couple issues with counterparty (where addrindexrs and counterparty stop talking to one naother, and everyone starts getting "Insufficent BTC Balance" errors even tho they have enough BTC.....
