What are your chances of winning?

The election is by next year February. The campaign is going steadily but can move faster with some support. So far, my team would have spoken to thousands whether directly or by proxy (billboards, fliers, posters, customised baseball caps.
The funding as not been encouraging. I've got few hundred dollars from family and friends that's all.
The big parties made wrong choices in their choice of candidates. That leave us a very strong chance of winning providing we get enough resources to reach across the Constituency.
Note: Apologies for the late response, I was in a meeting until fee minutes ago. And can we discuss privately so we keep Dogeparty TG solely about everything DOGE? -

I think it also kind of devalues the ownership of an asset as you can piggy back off of someone else’s token network they built

DP has an api that let the user create any possible transaction in the platform (sends, dispensers, broadcasts, etc). These transactions are constructed with two outputs: the first one being a OP_RETURN (a special script in dogecoin and bitcoin alike coins) with the encoded message, and the change you mentioned. Like you said, you could take the hex returned by DP and change the address of the second output, then sign the message and broadcast it. That should work to have the change on an address different from the source.
