BoO and Casa Tookan should get a QR code reader for redeeming collectibles. Spells Genesis has paved the way for all cryptocollectibles. Why not intergrate some of the cool features from the latest projects!

The community needs a little better explanation in my opinion of the strategy behind that action plan. For starters, what is the point of getting BCY listed on exchanges if SoG is essentially being abandoned by developers. No new development, no new content, with no promises of that changing according to the announcement.

The main reason for being a little vague is because we are still working on the prioritisation. There are several thing we are working on. By helping means building APIs for game devs

For example SOG has API to link to a player wallet to the game. We are building public API so any game could connect to a wallet. And with casa tookan you can link counterparty as well as Ethereum

Other thing is we have tool allowing to create collectible (dis playable in BOO) right now the tool is Alpha but we are polishing it to make it accessible to professionals and hobbiest

It works for counterparty assets but we will allow the user to choose the blockchain tech

BCY used to be SOG only project but since several years it’s not only SOG it’s also wallet, book of orbs and soon other tool to help devs and hobbiest to create and share their creation

Basically we started as content producers and as well software solution providers. Now as the market evolve and a lot of good content is created we consolidate the technology and software

Big companies are coming into the game and things will move fast. The good positioning for us is to be facilitators

with the current situation (bcy not listed in any exchange, SoG in a pause state, counterparty development progressing slowly etc...) why a new game publisher would consider publish its game under the BCY ecosystem, and not consider other options (i.e. enjin). I do not want to sound harsh, but I was just wondering. If I understood correctly, you are stopping (or at least putting on pause) your flagship product (SoG), in order to focus on providing tools for developers/game creators to publish their products under the BCY ecosystem. SoG won't stop. We are still supporting it. We just won't do new release for the moment. Leaderboard and game will still be there.

Your intention might be to focus to create & provide some tools. I am pretty sure (and confident) that a lot of people (game creators/hobbiest) will use that tools if you provide them free of charge. If you intent to charge a fee (ie. you need somehow to make a profit), then you need to give really good motivations, and also to work with developers in improvements in the counterparty infrastructure. The competition out there is strong, and you need to provide reasoning for creators to use this platform rather than competitors platforms. Just my 2 cents

The focus has been shifted to other areas inside the decentralized projects offered on bitcoin blockchain.

No reason to compete. That's been the problem in the cryptosphere. All new platforms claim to be better than bitcoin and to solve bitcoin problems. Complementing and encouragement better imo. I like the QR code redemption they have. Rare Pepe been had that with the gift card redemption, but not easily accesible like the QR code. That feature would be nice in BoO & Casa Tookan. It would be awesome to redeem Rare Pepe codes in other wallets besides RarePepe wallet.

Reading the announcement and comments here from @yodark it appears to me, both as a business person and an artist, that what EDS is doing is very wise. After all, SoG is already a really great game. So them saying that they are putting its development on pause is not that big a deal... because it is already very well developed; SoG is a fully working product that has already been through many fine upgrades and game play is operating well--exactly as planned. Focusing on building out the BCY ecosystem with more tools and clients is exactly what is needed for the company to take things to the next level. Bravo!

My main concern is that there’s no further progression in the game that was fully realized. The campaign ends with no legit PvP to fall back on for end of campaign replay value. The current PvP doesn’t really feel like it, and there’s no customization to matches. Once you max level up and fuse all cards, which isn’t that hard to do, it does just end and become a little stale with no further development. The only thing that would maintain some excitement is monthly competitions but I’m not sure that was fully confirmed in detail... will there continue to be cards issued to top rankings?

While I agree with most of the statements I also have some comments about the announcement:
first I think the team probably started to many projects based on their size and are unable to well maintain all of them. I think they should focus on developing their already existing tools. I would also recommend open sourcing some of them to allow other developers develop games on bitcrystals ecosystem.
As for SoG I think there should be more development put into the game. It has been quite some time since some mayor update. How is the development of guilds progressing? A more engaging multiplayer would improve an already great game a lot.

The development of tools for creators and devs is a nice move. Making creation of assets simpler and more accessible, maintaining & upgrading BoO and Casa Tookan also needs more focus than creating more content for Spells of Genesis. As a company, the strategic shift helps them stay around longer instead of a exit out the game. This isnt the end, only a new beginning. Real players of any game know how to adapt in order to survive and still be around for future.

Broadcast issue is linked to the blockchain network, for example if you already setup too much transactions that are in the queue

i think you are only partly correct. broadcast issue comes from that how the network fees are performed/defined in certain software.

example BoO is the same: with 1 sat fee its always broadcast error, with 2 sat it goes trough. since network actually does not care how high is the fee, this problem can be only in aplication side. probably it defines fees different as network when it is lower than 1 sat. 2 sat fee in BoO means that its for network 1.992 sat, so from this information i take that when you want use in BoO fee 1 sat then it will be prformed to network little lower as 1 sat and from there the ‘broadcasting error comes.

other example is CT: here is fee defined some strange way also. when you want to make transaction with 1 sat fee then it gives to network 1.516 sat fee (382 sat per transaction). exactly same thing happens when you set the fee to 2 sat - every transaction has the 382 sat, so same fee as with 1 sat.

I said short after EDS e-mail announcement that i will say my personal opinion about it in the moment when i find enough time to do it properly. now its almost one week gone since announcement and here comes my opinion. and it will be a long story…

First maybe some words about my general background, to maybe give a also some weight to things what i am saying.
i myself am in crypto scenes already since 2011 and was active in many different crypto related projects and also in coins development. Since round 2 years i don’t have any other job and am engaged with only cryptocurrency related projects. At the moment i am related to one not yet published crypto project which also includes crypto collectibles and blockchain based gaming, for sure there will be soon a announcement about it also.
Several years ago i was also engaged as advisor in one of the biggest European gaming company which was interested about blockchain technology for gaming, but they postponed their plans since they were not certain that gaming market is ready for mass adoption of blockchain based gaming assets. They saw also big problem in missing legal regulations about crypto assets. All in final they did not see yet big money in blockchain based gaming at this time.
Trough my experiences and activities in crypto societies, as also trough my educational background in economics/business analytics, i also have pretty comprehensive knowledge about tokenomics and legal backgrounds for crypto adoptions.
Summary: i know more or less what about i am talking in following statements and will try to keep out everything what is over my knowledge level.
Sorry about my poor english grammar, but since most of community members are not native speaking anyway, i hope that everything is still understandable. i will be open for every question here in this group or per PM.

My opinion i will split to 2 different parts:
1. General EDS strategy announcement
2. Announcement about SoG and some suggestions for the future
And please, do not take ANY of that what i write as insulting or blaming. It is even not a critic. I really honour the work EDS has done and hope it really will go on!
Only reason to write it here is that EDS announcement is only pointing on (possible) solutions and not really showing bigger picture. this bigger picture i try to paint here.

General EDS Strategy.
Main thing what is said here is: not enough money to go on with all projects, so we stay only tools (wallets, APIs etc.) developing company, no money left for developing games. Lets look little bit a nearest (public) history around EDS and BCY.
1. BCY makes in January 12th 2018 ATH (with rising trading volumes) 1.85 $/BCY, even thou BTC is already entering bear market, but crashes 60% in few days and stabilises by 50% of the ATH price.
2. End of February all cryptos enter to bear market and price falls additional 30% to round 0.50 $/BCY.
3. Bear market continues and price falls until August on round 20 cents/BCY. at this time there are big discussions about security and utility tokens.
4. In August Bittrex announces BCY delisting (correct please if this is not right time) because of doubts that BCY could be classified as a security token and price fell to round 10 cents/BCY and stays until delisting more or less stabile.
5. Beginning of October Bittrex delisting and Zaif closes all new registrations. BCY generally only tradable in Tux and CP Dex. Price down to 2-3 cents/BCY. Since that BCY is hardly tradable and price spread until beginning of December varies between 2 and 5 cents/BCY without almost any acceptable trading volume.
6. October/November: Casa Tookan released and á Table pre-sale starts.
7. BitCrystals Snowfall. Round 800k BCY distributed (correct if wrong) instead of announced 5mio BCY. price variations 1-3 cents/BCY. in the same time Tux announces delisting. After delisting only marginal volume trading in Dex possible with price 0.7-1.2 cents/BCY. (in my opinion/analytics at least 40% of all Snowfall BCY were dumped in Tux, but i can be wrong.)
8. á Table presale cancelled/postponed.
9. EDS participates in UbiSoft incubation program middle of January.
10. Beginning of February ‘possibility to buy BCY’ is announced. Price level is 3-5 times higher than in Dex. technically EDS started kind of central selling of BCY which is not good for free market and decentralised currency. When until then it was not sure was Bittrex right with their doubt (security) then here it got clear that BCY is security token in most common sense! And you started with that just 2 days before announcement…
11. February 6th ‘EDS action plan Update’ announced.
12. All trough 2018 and beginning of 2019 SoG was slightly developed with some nice new additions, but without any major update (correct if i am wrong). Last new released card in this time period was on 18th January 2018.
Lets put now all this information together to one ‘Big Picture’!

From all EDS products most development power went in Casa Tookan and it is really nice already. But its development costed money and it did not bring any money back to EDS yet (will it ever as a single product?). Probably also á Table development costed lot of power and also some money. So the already existing SoG (and only one which brings some money in) stayed least developed product. Generally it is not a big deal because SoG is really already great product and working good, but to win new players you need some new improvements! (later more about SoG as game). Selling playing/collectible cards brought also some fresh money but if we look on BCY price development in this time period then it is obvious that this money was decreasing from month to month. since there were almost no new card releases sales were going down since older/early collectors already have most of cards and new players collectors were rare to find. Also comes that revenue from card sale is, compare to January ’18 (and earlier), bringing almost no money because of BCY price fall of 200 (!!!) times, its 99.5%. Card prices in BCY in the same time did not go up so much. It is also important to see a fact that trough deflative character of BCY (burning BCY from card sales) selling cards with too high BCY price can also get dangerous to all ecosystem. In this point it gets visible how deflation can also be a negative attribute under certain conditions… BoO/CrystalsCraft is also a nice product, but same as Casa Tookan its difficult to make money with it. For that you will need a huge community growth!

Important Notice!!!! Following segment is only a speculation from my side but its only logical conclusion which is possible if we look on listing above.
All in all it gets kind of obvious that to abandon SoG (as only still money bringing product) is not truly EDS ‘free’ choice. Probably there is a new money/investment coming in who is really only interested of wallet, trading platform and ecosystem development and does not care about ‘pennies’ which still come from SoG. Further SoG development would take too much attention of EDS team and for new money/investor game as product is not interesting enough, so SoG development has to get frozen to be able to concentrate fully for new/given tasks. Probably there is a new partnership which is not announced in action plan.

BitCrystals Ecosystem.
Every (crypto)currency needs a ecosystem, so also BCY. At this very point i see BCY ecosystem as very potential but without almost any existing marketable product (SoG is frozen now), any existing exchange and without massive/aggressive marketing work not really existent soon. It will be also very important to change current BCY distribution pattern significantly to make this ecosystem stronger. For that it is ultimately necessary to have a leading scalable product which is missing if EDS abandons/freezes further SoG development. At this very moment i think BCY ecosystem is not able to survive in this business segment without SoG or similar product with same potential. BCY was in the beginning designed as a currency for SoG and without it this ecosystem will not work. Also it is one of the most important things to keep this still existing ecosystem alive that you do EVERYTHING that BCY gets listed in some exchanges! Since Bittrex announcement EDS always repeated that they are doing everything to get BCY listed in some other exchanges but until this very day nothing happened. there were no concrete names of exchanges with who EDS is negotiating in case of BCY listing. There are several reputable middle level exchanges which are listing a cryptocurrencies for some fee. even when in the first moment it looks to be high, it will pay back soon if it stabilises BCY price. If paying this fee is only way to get listed then it is thing which has to be done even if it hurts…
That is my two cents about BCY ecosystem.

Now to Spells of Genesis (SoG)
I know that you will not agree with me, but your announcement is a death sentence for SoG, even if there is said only ‘frozen development’. And it is also not really good for SoG card collectors since now the cards will be more or less useless and only nice story written on some cards. Directly after your announcement there were already some panic sells and probably there will be more when the status ‘frozen’ stays active longer. It is also concerning for all active SoG collectors to not know what happens with rest of the cards which are in your possession, there is no announcement about it from your side. since SoG is not developed it does not make any sense (or actually is not even fair) that those cards in EDS possession are still sold. if you continue with selling cards without SoG development all of them will rather lose value than rise. early collectors/investors would feel themselves cheated, start to sell their collections and prices will go down immense. its just my prediction, its not that it really happens, but its probable scenario. maybe you should think about some clearing announcement about this point?

In my opinion SoG is one of the best mobile games on the market at the moment. i am playing almost from the beginning with some breaks and also account changes. Before i go on i will answer one question what i ask from myself: what attracts me in SOG? Answer: in the first line it was blockchain tech but it also has beautiful design, very interesting storyline, intuitive gameplay, several great other features, i love collectibles and… and… and… list could be long. but why then SoG does not have lots of players?
I think that one thing what is missing is decent marketing strategy. i dont want to teach you your job and probably you know it yourself at least same good, but maybe it is interesting reading for others.
every marketing strategy for games has 3 main columns:
1. how to attract new players?
to attract new players there are several options but i did not see much of those from your side. no ref-program, no massive advertising, only medium level social media presence. From time to time its also necessary to make bigger events (like snowfall). those are main tools, list of other could be long, but first would be those most important.
2. how to keep existing players playing?
here EDS made good efforts. existing players need revenues for activity (like leaderboard with prices), from time to time special actions (monthly event), but those two are only for already good players attractive. so you would need more! something also for every player! i have there several ideas but it would make this writing much to long, so if there is interest from your side feel free to contact me.
3. How to manage that players start to bring you some revenue?
that is almost the question to my next point but it still belongs also under marketing. i have never seen any special sale or something similar. no sale events at all! huge potential here.
So much about marketing. other important part is monetising of game content. also here you did not do much… what are here most common strategies?
1. Selling Gems
most usual monetising way for all mobile/online games. this strategy brings only real revenue when you can attract enough players who have free fiat otherwise all fees (appstore, playstore etc.) are eating the profit away. but since you are doing it also you know exactly how it is.
2. selling ads
is second popular monetising tool in gaming industry. until December there were no ads in SoG. Good that you added them now even when it does not bring much when there are no huge amount of players behind. still good option for monetising and here you have a huge additional potential!
3. Selling InGame items
Not many games use that, but thanks blockchain tech you are here very good! still some additional potential left.

those are 3 main monetising possibilities, but there are several more and none of them you are using. specially there are some good possibilities because SoG is blockchain based! you only used one advantage of blockchain connectivity of SoG (cards), believe me there are several others which would help to finance further development.
To earn enough money for development you would need to use every possibility. until now… only with selling gems it is clear that with so little community it is not possible to finance full development. my calculations say that with present state of gems sales you would not be even able to finance one full job for developer, not to talk about full company who wants to make profits in general…

Now the last part of my looooooooooooong storytelling.
How would it be possible to keep SoG alive and what would it cost?
it is clear that with current amount of paying (and also non-paying) players you cant keep up profitable company. it does not mean because of that that SoG as a game is not good capital for the future! for that you just have to keep it alive with assets and financial possibilities you still have and it even does not cost as much as it brings revenue at the moment. Freezing development fully kills the game in short/middle term but with small additional features it would survive and with community help it would be even possible to build up bigger player quote. for those additional features you even would not need to do much work.
here just a summary of some calculations what i made (i hope they are nearly correct):
total revenue from Gems sale per month (last 3 months average, negative counting, so probably its more): 2500$
total revenue from cards sale per month (3 months average, realistic counting): 200$
possible revenue per month trough ads: 150$
monthly total average: 2850$

this money is for sure not enough to pay one full developer job, but should be enough to keep SoG alive and to pay partial salary of one developer. since you already have full functioning game it does not need at the moment developer who works on SoG every day 8 hours. few days per month would be enough.
what is necessary to keep sog living? for sure its not enough that general leaderboard stays running and everyone can look up how good they are. i think thats how it was said in your action plan and comments later in telegram. in following some general suggestions about features to keep alive and maybe to develop with very moderate outlay of money and work.
1. Monthly leaderboard with prices for best players has to be kept up to keep up above listed revenue. high ranked players are biggest cards and gems buyer. to motivate players to reach higher rankings prices should be decent and hard to get from the free market.
2. Monthly event level should stay also. it gives some variety to normal levels and is always entertaining. there is in general no need to develop every month new stage, it would be enough to recycle some stages from the older monthlies, those would be entertaining enough. it would be also a option to give designing of some new stages to community hands and reward members for their winning works with cards or/and some BCY.
3. Events similar to GUMMYYUMMY stage would be nice thing also. those should contain some new playing card and would be available only for short time (for example 2 weeks). those cards to win there are then very rare and desirable. design contest for those cards would activate community and probably even attract new people to play/design SoG.
4. Promotional events similar to Snowfall are essential from time to time. Snowfall was a nice event but it did not bring too many new players/members to community. giveaways don't have to be so high as they were in Snowfall and all tasks should be little better performed and connected to activities. for sure there are some community members who would like to help to perform this kind of events so there would not be real need for EDS to spend lots of their workers time for that, so zero additional costs.

those 4 suggestions are not much developer work to manage. I have lots of other ideas and suggestions which are not containing much developer work neither and would attract new players, but before i let this writing get longer than it already is it would be nice to hear some opinion about those 4. for sure i am not only community member who has good ideas, so maybe it would make a sense to discuss about it.

I have just read everything, agree with the most. I think there is an issue with the SoG publisher also, they was not happy with it and changed but the new one didn't attract enough players. the argument you pose focuses on trading and exchanges, then SoG. these are not even half of the equation

getting involved is not simply yelling at the driver from the back of the bus. I have gotten involved with BitCrystals ecosystem and can tell you that simply skipping over the whole Book of Orbs app and the collections therein create a disingenuine predicament.

one cannot simply claim experience in gaming, blockchains and "tokenization" to be regarded as an expert in this space. One of my core beliefs is that a more complete sociological picture cannot be ascertained by conventional means without taking into consideration all aspect of the digital revolution.

let me answer some points

about SOG

so SOG is our flagship game and we demonstrated how blockchain can be included in game

in mobile games there are an important metric which is user retention
toghether with the publisher we made an analysis of the game performance. The main metrics are
day 1 day 7 and day 30 retention

SOG do very good in day 7 and day 30 retention. Meaning the is enjoyable and people love it as long as they get to undestand it. But there is a friction in day 1 retention people tend to leave the game just after the download. This means the tutorial and the overall onboarding experience is not optimal.
After making so video tests and other study we understood that we needed to improve the tutorial and the first minutes/hours of gameplay

our game designer put toghether a plan with different features aimed to inprove d1 retention (I might publish it in the future)

as a result most of our effort where targeted on this. The first levels redone the tutorial improved etc.
According to our projection we were to be ready somwhere around march 2019, meaning having a retention over 25% after day 1. We were progressing toward this objective. But due to crypto winter the plan were cut a bit short.

Having a good d1 retention would have allowed us and our publisher to be ROI positive on user aquisition (advertising that leads to download) once the point a reached then the publisher has the capacity to invest in user aquisition

there were two scenarios that jasper proposed one more short term (improvement toward march 2019) and another scenario where a lot of things was to be revamped (that would have lead us to end 2019) and would have been more a SOG 2

about the company in general
we don't have specific external pressure to pause SOG. But we don't have as for today the ressources to conduct the project we would wanted

We are looking working on a fundraising and it's true that platform is better for an investor point of view and for the company in general. Game have their life cycle while platform continue to evolve. In a sense empowering many people to use blockchain is what we beleive since the beginning the future. And we say a lot of good game projects following our trail. Enabling this for everyone will boost adoption much quicker than if we are "only" a content producer

Having the experience of beeing at the same time content producer and platform provider is hard to manage and not ideal. Conflict in internal ressources and focus. I like to take the example of Sony

Sony is a company compared EverdreamSoft
Playstation is a brand and a hardware solution could be compared to BCY ecosystem
Then Sony in order to value Playstation they have first party studios producing games "content producer".

Sor for EDS I would like to follow the same logic games like SOG à table in the future will be developed by independant studios that we could invest in

So as the time gets better we might set up and independant studio for the content production for example take the lead on working on the sequel or the boosted SOG version
