nope... nodes dont communicate with one another... nodes only get data from the blockchain... the issue here is that parsing thousands of broadcast transactions into the database take time... so dogeparty-lib parsed all thees tranasctions fine a while ago... but syncing to xchain is taking a lil while.... dogeparty's internal database is sqlite3.... n xchain is powered by Mysql and a bunch of database optimizations to make things faster.... but, that syncing can take a while... especially when it has to parse thousands of records per block

longer-term... BTNS will move to its own platform with a much faster API for encoding/decoding txs... but for now, this downtime/lag is just caused by lots of ppl minting BTNS tokens on dogeparty, and it taking a while for the data to sync to xchain

eh.... counterparty has limitations that BTNS will very quickly bump into.... taproot / p2wsh support.... IMO cp dev is stagnant and I dont see them pushing forward taproot anytime soon.... plus bloating the CP database with broadcast just to use BTNS is not good for counterparty.... so... thinking BTNS needs to split off to its own platform so that we can do dev n support things we want MUCH faster than the underlying protocol devs will (counterparty, dogeparty, etc)

BTNS on CP is fine for now... but if/when we have CP going down cuz ppl are spamming BTNS mints, CP community gonna be upset and scream for separation.... so, that is what I am planning for.... as always, got CP /DP love in my heart.. but think BTNS (XChain) has to become something separate... still thinking it all through... no matter what... will give CP / DP ppl time to reserve their existing CP / DP asset names on a new platform... still thinking it all through... lots of moving parts

xchain runs across 8 different servers... dogeparty API/dogewallet run on 2 servers... all hosted at ovh.com at varying price levels.... XChain explorer/APIs are closed-source and licensed yearly at a fixed cost of $5k/year... the last 2 years the Dogeparty Foundation has paid around $15k/year to keep dogeparty/xchain/dogewallet-desktop servers/services up and maintained.

disk space and having things on an SSD will make the most speed difference.. cheaper/larger SATA drives will work, but you'll be disk IO bound... but with SSD, much faster 🙂

ive been in crypto a while, i know my doge tx is confirmed and all that but for people not that used to crypto, not seeing the asset in your wallet is a bit un-nerving

you could try to just build an explorer and talk directly to the dogeparty sqlite database on your node n open source it.. that'd be awesome... but FYI.. the internal CP database is highly inefficent and not good at scaling for large amount of queries (duplicated address/tx hashes, few indexes, etc)... which is why I have dogeparty2mysql to port that data from sqlite to Mysql and build out the database in a bit more optimized state... THAT is what is lagging. 🙂

xcp.dev is also open source I believe... so, could pretty easily fork that codebase and get it running on your node to view dogeparty tx data 🙂

yup... less than ideal for sure... been hollering for more block explorers for years.. but again, no one really steps up... so it is what it is until others also realize its a problem and buidl

overall the data is synced 99.9% of the time, and this is an honest/tight-knit community.. both CP and DP communities... so pretty easy to track down who operates the dispenser and get your funds back... not ideal, but in case of mistakes, community generally works n gets funds returned.

with the dispenser, the funds of the person offering are locked in an address. they get sent doge + info only readable to xchain. wouldn't it be possible to keep the address locked until its sync'ed to xchain so that if extra funds are sent, it can detect that it doesn't have enough assets and sends back the doge?

xchain is just an explorer that shows dogeparty data... there is no integration with dogeparty-lib

and to answer your question, no, the DP protocol can not escrow the underlying token "DOGE"..... which is what would be needed in order to "send it back"

Yes there is... but you have to be careful b/c it won't save it when you log out. If you just close the wallet w/o logging out, it retains it.

You guys know that jdog is not everyone's on call customer service person here right? There's a whole bunch of community directors, myself included, and other peers you can ask questions or Google the answer. The guy has a huge pile of dev work to do, unless it's an emergency and the platform is not operational ... let's be more resourceful so jdog doesn't get burned out from getting pinged all the time.

There's no way to cancel... It will eventually fall out of the mempool if it isn't mined. The only other thing you can do is import the address private key into a different wallet and then send all the funds somewhere. That should cancel the pending transaction.

Glad you got some time to run the numbers…. Would be curious to see how many doge was paid to the miners for all of these minting transactions…. I believe on Monday the Chinese minters spammed 52,000 broadcasts on counterparty and paid the bitcoin mining network over $400,000 in mining fees

Still parsing through the backlog of broadcast transactions… good news is once we get past this parsing block. We should be good for a while…. And as I mentioned before longer-term BTNS will break off to its own thing, so CP/DP won’t have to bear the burden of all of these broadcasts

For future reference, the link CZ posted is a great way to tell if xchain is caught up or not:

If it shows block created between 1-5 minutes ago, that means things are good. If it shows 1 hour or longer ago, that's bad, and the balances in your wallet might be incorrect. -

Yeah, I had to take the API down for a few hours last night to stop the spamming…. And give xchain parsing a chance to catch up…. I believe all the BTNS tokens that mints were being spammed are minted out…
I’ll work on building an BTNS Dogeparty Explorer today for them to view what has happened … once they can see the mining is out they should stop spamming -

Also you asked about fee stats earlier. About 83,000 of the 83,887 broadcasts are for DEPLOY/ISSUE/MINT, and they all paid a fee of 1 DOGE. So that's 83,000 DOGE x 0.095 = $7885 in miner revenue. Not bad for just 3 days.

The easiest way is to purchase them from a dispenser. So you'd find the asset on xchain, e.g.

and then click on the 'Dispensers' tab. Here you can see all the different offers for the asset. The are arranged newest first. -
The ones in red are closed (sold out), the other ones are open

They were originally called assets or tokens. Then in 2021 when the platform was brought back to life, people were using it to make picture tokens, kind of like NFTs, but there's more than one, so they are technically fungible.

Right, I don't think they expire. You can also place orders in the Exchange section of the Dogewallet, but those do expire, and its a bit more complicated.
