Hi all,
I am having some trouble with the display of dispensers on Freewallet.
The x-chain.io displays my dispensers correctly according to my understanding (only one dispenser for 500 XCP @ 0.00018900 ea). -
-
But the Freewallet "My Dispensers" tab lists two dispensers that I recently closed (one for 500 XCP and one for 1000 XCP), and a large number of dispensers that are either so old I can't remember them, or are erroneous. (As shown below, all for 158 XCP @ 0.0001498)

that is strange, best to be logged as an issue asap:

Thanks Dave!
I don't have a github account, but I'll get one and see if I can figure out how to log it as an issue. 👍 -
Maybe check the pin messages and the user manual which explains all of that stuff🤷🏻♂️

Trying to understand fees and "effective fee rate," hoping someone can elighten me. So I'm trying to update the description of a token using free wallet and I sent a transaction with 12sat/vb when fees were really low a week ago. Fees spiked so I sent another transaction with the same description a few days later at 24sat/vb, but both have an effective fee rate of 9.33... I don't understand why.
-
-
-
Many blocks have been mined with less than 24sat/vb fees but my transaction hasn't been picked up. Will it only get picked up when fees go to 9.33sat/vb or lower?
-
Yes… do another tx with a way high fee…. Should force effective fee rate to be higher. 👍🏻
-
-
Your txn doesn’t fit into the 80 byte OP_RETURN limit so Counterparty defaults to bare multisig encoding. This method is SigOps heavy. SigOps are penalized because each block has an 80,000 SigOps limit. Therefore the effective fee rate is reduced (due to the penalty)
-
this is something that i wish FW would be able to estimate, but I wrote about what is recommended to do in user manual. This page also links to the open issues with certain processes in FW you need to watch out for it
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/troubleshooting-issues/my-transaction-is-too-low-of-an-effective-fee-rate -
-
I sent through a Close Dispenser tx and xchain shows it as "Closing" - its been 11 confirmed blocks since the tx went through. How long until I can access the token from the Source address?
-
i closed it from the address the dispenser was live on.... and i had opened it from the Origin address.... is the delay 20 blocks now or something? super inconvenient if so....
-
-
-
Should be a 10 block delay…. And funds should be credited back to whatever address did the close…. If you close from origin address, funds are credited back to origin address
-
gotchya.... so since FW asks for the disp tx ID it could theoretically be closed from either Origin or Source?

when sweeping a wallet, the address your sweeping to just needs a few XCP correct? None are needed in the address being swept?
-
you need the XCP in the address you are sweeping from - the address you are sweeping to (the destination) does not need XCP
-
I see - so how do you get the xcp out that's left behind if the addy has been swept?
-
it sweeps all tokens, but if theoretically something was left over you could send btc (assuming it wasnt comprimised) and send out the tokens manually
here is what is written in the user manual:
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/freewallet-functions/using-the-sweep-function -
-
It looks like none would be left behind
-
you could theoretically leave certain things like token issuance:
-
-
is the 1 XCP in wallet being swept still valid or need more?
-
from what Subterranean mentioned with the recent dynamic XCP sweep update he needed about 4 to do a significant amount of tokens and token issuances... ill have to change the 1 xcp to mention this new dynamic sweep update in the protocol
-
-
what would a significant amount be? like 50? or like 500?
-
-
@subterranean1 did FW show a popup for how much XCP would be needed for a large sweep?
-
below is the link to the protocol specifics for the price breakdown for sweeps - thank you for pointing that out - updated the user manual too:
The user manual is 🔥. Wish I knew about it earlier. Thanks for putting it together
-
Protocol used to be hardcoded at 0.5 XCP per sweep….. last year we switched to a dynamic fee model which brings the sweep fees much lower.
A four XP sweep fee seems incredibly high .
As far as the XCP sweep estimates… I believe that is still an issue in counterparty well it tells you you need way more XP than you actually need.
If you ever find a sweep that uses more than one XP, please let me know … if possible… but the fee seems really high -
I’ve done it twice lately and both were in the 3.4 XCP range. I’ll post the txs later if that helps.
-
No. The amount isn’t shown or estimated. The tx fails if there isn’t enough xcp in your wallet. I’ve never seen it go above 4 xcp. I’m looking for my txs now for an example
-
-
-
looks like your one of 16 transactions which have paid over 1 XCP for a sweep.... by and large, the majority of sweeps are under 1 XCP
-
-
most ppl are not sweeping 2000+ balances
-
I’m an edge case 😎
-
Nice
-
and FYI.... if you try to do a sweep and dont have XCP in your wallet... the API throws you an error message... and the XCP fee calculation in that error message is way off
-
-
not crazy... I rememer shit 😛
-
insufficient XCP balance for sweep. Need 25800000 XCP for antispam fee ... requesting more XCP than exists 😛

I believe the send button gets disabled will fee estimation check is going on… so it could be that fee estimation check failed and for whatever reason your send button was not reenabled.
I would try closing FreeWallet and then reopening it and trying it again… take notice if the button is active when the form first pops up and then when the button goes disabled or de active.
If you were able to reproduce this issue, and tell me the steps to repeat it in a GitHub issue, I should be able this issue in the next release👍🏻 -
Same problem. I have tried sending from multiple addresses on my freewallet to multiple recipient addresses, and I cannot send any funds ("send funds" button is not activated).
-
-
-
-
Super fast follow-up from fake J-Dog:
-
-
And then he deleted the chat within seconds of my posting the screenshot.....these guys must have this stuff automated.
-
I did the following:
1. Settings
2. Server settings
3. Reset to default
After doing this, the "send funds" button was displayed normally.
I'll report back after I check to see that the send went through. -
The send appears to be on it's way (recipient has already noted it as an unconfirmed tx).
I didn't check all of the settings that were changed, but I speculate that the default reset switched the CP Host to public.xchain.io from a different host. -
Well, that would make sense…. The send button gets disabled while it’s trying to do the fee estimation, which is a request to the counterparty API….
If the wallet is unable to communicate with the API, then the fee estimation request never gets a response then the send button never gets reactivated .
This was just an issue with your server settings … glad to hear clicking reset to default worked👍🏻 -

good movie in case anyone is interested... been a few years since I watched this... but particularly relevant lately 😛 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZK9XthMZ1wTread FULL MOVIE - The True Story of the KILLDOZER
On June 4th, 2004, a sixty-three-ton bulldozer, fortified with steel and concrete, systematically destroyed numerous businesses and homes in the small mountain town of Granby, Colorado. The rampage lasted over two hours and resulted in more than eight million dollars in damage. State and local police were incapable of even slowing the machine. Though it was armed with three high-powered firearms, no one but the driver was killed. His name was Marvin Heemeyer. -
- to check your btc balance, you can simply view your address on a block explorer (like mempool.wtf or blockstream.info) - you dont need a wallet to know if there is still BTC on your address
- as for sending BTC from your Freewallet, if you are using the mobile version you will not be able to send to certain types of BTC addresses, segwit addresses for example start with "3" or "bc1".
- There are no issues at this moment for Sending BTC out of Freewallet Desktop version.... but it could be that your address does not have enough BTC to send in which Freewallet will show specific error messages for why this is the case
- If you are running into the "Failure to send not enough BTC in wallet" error message it is a good idea to review this page in the FW Desktop User Manual: https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/troubleshooting-issues/failure-to-send-not-enough-btc-in-wallet -
also for the most recent version of Freewallet Desktop 0.9.31 this is the best way to fix most issues with not being able to send if you are seeing "Checking Data Encoding Fees" and things like the recent issues posted above by some community members

well, when changes are made to the underlying API services without discussion... it forced me to make an update to freewallet to get things working again (ports that were working fine for years, stopped working, cuz Adam forced usage of new ports and protocols on those new ports HTTPS instead of HTTP... even tho the API already had HTTP and HTTPS options).... said he planned the migration well ahead of time, etc... but screenshots demonstrate that he said he rushed the migration.... that was the last forced wallet update I had to put out... then was notified that I would be required to update my wallet to support the new dispense methods (which I disagree with).... Not sure if thats the info your looking for, but when I say pressure to put out wallet updates... taht is waht I mean... breaking shit to FORCE a wallet update, or telling me I "have to" update my wallet to support new features I disgree with.
-
this is one of the main reasons I have choosen to distance myself from the Counterparty community, I do not feel it is a "community" project anymore, as decisions are not being made in a decentralized way, rather decisions are made, then communicated to the community AFTER the fact (CIP repos taken down, forums deleted, repos renamed, fednode broken, dispenser changes, now we removing "bets" from counterparty, and a "foundation" being formed without any communication with the community beforehand).... many things happening without discussion... not trying to bash anyone, but, speaking my truth..... This is not the Counterparty I signed up for, and I dont want to be involved anymore if this is the direction that things are going to continue going (and I dont see things changing, power has been consolidated, not much can be done at this point).... and, IMO right now these new wallets and explorers are being created because the existing explorers and wallet devs disagree with the changes being proposed, so in order to force these changes, they need an explorer and wallet that show things in the "new" way..... ie, gotta build new wallets and explorers cuz community members wont be forced to update.... easiest way to remove that "community members" stumbling block is to write a new wallet and explorer..... then they can push forward with their changes, call it "improvements", and have less concern about breaking things (explorers and wallets) which have worked for years.
-
Doing my best to just STFU and let things play out... but that is how I see it right now... not really a community project anymore, and anyone who disagrees gets shouted down, personally attacked, muted, banned, etc.

the button being disabled only happens when an API calls ie in the process of happening to get transaction fee information... if your button STAYS disabled, more than likely it is a communication issue with the API... make sure your on latest version of FreeWallet... go to settings->server settings and click "Reset to default" button.... then try again.
-
I have the last updated version. 😪
-
cool... make sure your server settings are reset to the default, and try again.

Has anyone ever suggested a tab that would show only the assets you've created?
-
I added that functionality to the address page on xchain.io... the "Assets" tab on address pages. As far as integrating it into freewallet, I dont feel showing asset ownership in the "balances" area is appropriate, since there are no balances to display. Perhaps at some future date.
-
-
Got a little impatient and created too many tx’s, are there any suggestions on what I should do ? All I’m trying to do is update the description

The only thing you can do is the same advice I gave you yesterday…. Wait for the transactions to settle in a block…. Or do another transaction with an insanely high transaction fee.
-
What does qualify as insane ?
-
I’m not gonna tell you specific fee amounts, because it is always a moving target… Perhaps take the high fee and quadruple it or pay even more than quadruple….
Your issue is you have a bunch of pending transactions , which will not confirm until either fees drop or you pay a way high fee on a transaction and force the other transactions to confirm. -
Ok thanks man, not surprising but a fake jdog just message me not too long ago
-
Ugh… scammers
-
I’d suggest paying $100-$150 transaction fee…. That should hopefully cover all of your transactions and force them to confirm.

Or just wait a couple weeks until fees drop🤷🏻♂️

Tha ks for your reply sir. I for sure use the xchain asset tab all the time. Along with all the others. Gotta check the deets! I was just in freewallet today, then wanted to look at my assets so I had to leave for xchain.io, which is nbd. Just had the thought that if freewallet had one, I would make use of it. Along with similar sorting features to what xhain has. I would use them in there too.
-
create a github issue suggesting the feature... shouldn't be that difficult to integrate.. and just show asset ownerships in the balances tab with 0 and 0.00000000.... and of course, make it optional, etc.

More and more often lately FreeWallet is showing the Buy Now button as lighter green and not clickable.
Multiple attempts to create the same, or different buy tickets, still the button does not become available.
Doesn't matter how many times I edit / re-edit the deal ticket details, increase custom fees, etc.
I'm on Version 0.9.31.
This happening for anyone else? -
button not being clickable is most likely API calls to get fee failing
-
check your debug console
-
-
The button is deactivated as soon as the "send funds" screen opens up.

I did the following:
1. Settings

Thank you J-Dog, it was as simple as resetting Default settings.

not entirely sure, but looks like they may have fixed the 404 error for some tx types.... which has been an issue for MPMA in the past

as I read it... that just means they return proper 404 "I dunno wtf your looking for" response to unknown endpoint requests (API) instead of nothing 🤷️️.... nothing to do with MPMA AFAIK

Hi. I need help with my FreeWallet. I sent BTC to an external wallet two days ago as I have done in the past, but this time it never showed up in the external wallet but it was deducted from the FreeWallet account. There is no history of the transaction in my Free Wallet either but the assets are not gone. How do I get help with this? It’s about $540 worth of BTC that was sent.
-
Are we able to get any support or help?
-
This is a volunteer project so anyone who wants to volunteer to answer your questions can do so…. Also a good amount of effort has been put in over the years to writing the user manual, which could offer some helpful answers to you if you choose to read it.
As far as Bitcoin, leaving your wallet, but not arriving at some other location … if Bitcoin left your wallet, There should be a transaction on the blockchsin That shows exactly where your Bitcoin went.
It could be a case of your transaction, not being confirmed or perhaps sending to the wrong address or something else …..
Point is there’s not much we can tell you without more details like a link to the transaction itself -
And of course, don’t give anyone access to your wallet, remote control of your computer, your 12 word passphrase, or any private keys.
If you do any of those things… you’re more than likely to lose your funds to a scammer -
-
Curious, why you say that?
-
I'm curious: how often do you get people complaining here about issues caused by the scammy wallet at freewallet.org? Seems like that could be what this person is experiencing. Although I can't imagine any kind of wallet not keeping track of transactions made from it.
-
Occasionally will get a freewallet.org person in here…. But most people who arrive here Are aware of what wallet they’re using.
-
But yeah, freewallet.org is closed source and custodial… so they hold your Bitcoin for you and do transactions for you…
Very different than freewallet.io which is open source, non-custodial, and the developers have access to user funds -
It was brought to my attention earlier today that some dummies are writing negative TrustPilot reviews for your wallet, thinking they are writing it for the ".org" version:
https://www.trustpilot.com/review/freewallet.io
I know there's probably not much you can do about that... Had someone ask me about it earlier today. Just thought I'd give you the heads up. -

Anyone know how to sell successttrust coins?
-
is that a counterparty token? have you check the pinned messages and reviewed the Freewallet User Manual?
-
I have the same question. I just read the user manual and read the pinned messages. I learned how to send / receive counter party tokens but not how to sell them. I have Certain Coin and I would love to figure out how to sell them.
-
You can open a dispenser and attempt to sell for Bitcoin or open a DEX order and attempt to sell for Bitcoin/other XCP tokens.
Your success will depend on there being potential buyers on the other end of the trade. I've never heard of "Certain Coin" but I just looked it up on xchain and there doesn't appear to be any activity in the last 2 months. Completely illiquid. What is it, btw? -
Only 11 holders and 99.9999% are held by a single wallet. Who exactly do you think you'd be selling to?
-
SUCCESSTRUST has 12 holders. The top 2 wallets hold 99.9% of tokens.
-
I don't know anything about these tokens, but both CERTAINCOIN and SUCCESSTRUST are completely illiquid and look very scammy to me (I could be wrong)
-
But scam or not, unless there is a buyer on the other end of a trade, you're not going to sell anything easily.
-
Thank you for this information. I’m going to have to learn more and do more research. I agree with your assessment!
-
Can I sell successtrust for BTC?
-
Nevermind I reread thank you
-
You can try. It all depends on if there is a buyer who wants it at the price you're willing to sell it for
-
Do you know how to open a dex order is there a pin on the manual for that?
-
-
Last question have some Nomni as well how do I go about selling that saw on Xchain it has movement 7 days ago
-
Same way. Dispensers/DEX.
-
Ok thank you everytime I try redownload free wallet on my Mac0S. It gives me the app cannot be verified by developer from malware any help with that? Only have mobile on my phone and one other computer have already turned off the security system feature and no luck but have had success downloading the app to my system just can’t open it
-
this has to do with Apple's signed binaries and a workaround is discussed in the user manual:
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/troubleshooting-issues/my-macos-windows-is-saying-freewallet-is-not-verified-by-the-app-store.-what-should-i-do -
As mentioned in the Apple Support page for this process, just because you see this "Not from the App Store" message does not mean there is something wrong with the app and this popup can be overridden:
https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/if-an-app-is-not-from-the-mac-app-store-mh40620/mac#:~:text=If%20you%20see%20a%20dialog,and%20open%20the%20app%20anyway.If an app is not from the Mac App StoreIf you try to open an app and you see a warning that the app isn’t from the Mac App Store, you can override your security settings to open it.
-
ah read the last part of the message.... it sounds like you did this process but the program still wont open?
which release (version) of Freewallet did you download? the most recent is 0.9.31
also which version of Mac OS are you on? Could be a newer Mac version could be not compatible, but usually in that case a popup will say "This version of Mac OS is not compatible with this app".... I've seen that error on iPads before -
Just downloaded it! Was able to open immediately appreciate everything! This chat is 10/10

-

-
which version of desktop? 0.9.31?
-
how do i check this again?
-
-
Version 0.9.31
-
address? could be you have a bunch of utxos, which make your tx larger, which means you need moar fees... prolly best to consolidate utxos
-
1PEP6GtjNfh3PrwWGHeJWnp1KNFMsT1sT2
-
ive tried $20 fee
-
I was gonna suggest checking this ^ ..... what server settings are you set to? for 0.9.31 it is recommended to also "Reset to Default"
-
-
86 utxos... prolly explains it.... you got all your BTC in a bunch of utxos... try gathering your utxos
-
-
how to do this?
-
-
-
-
I explain it in detail here in the FW User Manual below.... but Electrum is a god send for this issue
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/troubleshooting-issues/failure-to-send-not-enough-btc-in-wallet -
have you reviewed the troubleshooting/issue section of the FW User Manual (link in the pinned messages and on freewallet.io ) to see which error this is and explore if there is already a solution for this?
most server errors are fixed by upgrading to v0.9.31 and using the "Reset to Defaults" option in the server settings -
Looks big brain I’ll sit down when I have time tonight try to work it out. Thanks for the help
-
feel free to reach out for help if you need it... Electrum can be scary at first but it is a superior wallet for BTC centered features
-
Appreciate it ty.

anyone here to help?
-
Just like me 😕
I use the latest version and also clicked "Reset" -
Still server error?
-
-
Writes " Error generating transaction"
-
On comp me too same error
-
-
I don't know what to do
-
Can we enter keys into Phantom and try from this wallet @davesta ser?
-
Try your transaction again…. This is an error message, which will pop up occasionally and is related to the counterparty API having issues talking to addrindexrs.
-
you should use a counterparty wallet to perform counterpart actions… I don’t believe phantom wallet is a counterpart aware wallet
-
Ok ser, will try it multiple times
-
I’m heading to a yoga class right now soon as I get back I’ll restart the counterparty server just in case🤷🏻♂️
-
Get downward, dog.
😎🤣 -
Addrindexrs rebuild started... will probably take a few hours... I threw an alert message at the top of xchain.io for now... no updates to xchain.io until after the rebuild is completed.
-
back in a few hours... doctors appointments
-
Anyone else getting "counterparty API communication error!" on freewallet??
-
Yes, if you read the above messages, I said I’m rebuilding address indexers and xchain. Won’t be updated until it is done.... wait a bit and try again
-
Thank you ser
-
-
no, not sure if phantom supports BIP-39 phrases (it definitely doesnt support Counterwallet phrases) ..... the best wallet that is recommended to use BTC functions (BTC only, no counterparty functions) is Electrum
-
Thank you so much bro🙏🤝❤️🔥

Thanks , it's fixed 🫡

Hello chat. Question the success coin I was speaking about had no action in over 3 years now all of a sudden was asking around in different chats and someone today listed the coin before me on dex market after no action anywhere 6 HOURS AGO. Is there anyway I can make any profit if I send my coin over there or just leave it where it is and let them figure it out ? Don’t want to loose any money or keep any more coins
-
I don't think this is a freewallet or Counterparty question. The only SUCCESS I see on xchain has zero supply.
-
your not in ANY counterparty groups... so, doubt your talking about a counterparty asset... if you are, provide a link to the asset your talking about
-
-
Yes that is the one I went on Dexscreener and saw it was listed 6 hours ago…
-
someone is selling 50,000 SUCCESSTRUST for 2.5 XCP each.... but no one has filled it:
https://xchain.io/market/SUCCESSTRUST/XCP -
Won’t let me send any pictures in chat
-
the data is not from Dexscreener, but from the Counterparty DEx.... which is very very different
-
-
-
Yes I have all my coins on FreeWallet but was wanting to trade over to see if somebody would buy someone ended up listing the coin on there before me
-
the last trade was 5 years ago:
-
you will want to review this on how to read the Counterparty DEx:
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/exploring-balances-history-exchange-and-dispensers/the-decentralized-counterparty-exchange-dex -
and if you want to put an order up there is a guide in the user manual:
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/exploring-balances-history-exchange-and-dispensers/buying-and-selling-xcp-and-tokens-on-the-dex -
Yes I am aware. That’s why I wanted to send over the coin to Dexscreener from FreeWallet but someone seemed to have done that 6 hours ago I’m trying to know is it even worth sending it over now or it’s useless overall
-
-
I had these coins for 5 years got locked out of my FreeWallet I have no definite plan I just wanted to see if I could do something with them now that I have them
-
Here
-
nope.. no buyers
-
Link keeps disappearing
-
coin is worthless unless someone wants to buy them... and only 1 person has ever purchased that coin... over 5 years ago
-
-
Successcoin is listed
-
yeah the links keep disappearing cuz your new here... and the bots prevent new ppl from posting links... as most ppl who join and post links are scammers
-
DEXSCREENER is NOT counterparty... or related to counterparty in any way
-
and im not seeing it on dexscreener anyway:
-
I understand that I just wondering since someone listed successcoin 6 hours ago on Dexscreener
-
It’s successcoin!
-
not seeing that either:
-
-
-
Im looking right at it then I am not sure 😭
-
What is keeping the value of these coins going up if no one is trading them? Like it keeps fluctuating from worth $20-$50-$60 unlike other coins I have which have gone $0 if it’s been so long
-
Sorry I know I’m annoying I just am confused
-
Once again, dexscreener and counterparty are not related!
Whatever you’re looking at on dex screener that is going up and down is NOT related to counterparty
You have been provided a link to the counterparty token where you can see the last trade happened five years ago.
At this point continuing to ask further questions which have already been answered, multiple times, leads me to believe you’re here to waste peoples time.
This is the channel for discussions about FreeWallet. Your question is not about FreeWallet, so please take your questions elsewhere.
Not trying to be a jerk , but we’ve all spent time answering your questions and you continue to act confused. -
Ok I did not mean to waste anybody’s time was just trying to clarify my apologizes. My coins are on FreeWallet. Have a good day. Thank you for the answers
-
If you want to do something with FreeWallet, I suggest you read the user manual. 👍🏻

I think I’m starting to get what’s happening here. There’s probably a SOL coin called SUCCESSTOKEN on Dexscreener. Then some scammer maybe registered the asset name on Counterparty and started selling them to unwitting buyers
-
Actually catching up on the chat thread and this doesn’t seem right either lol
-
gmuns very proud of you but lets keep this chat to FW related support only my mans
-
You can call things whatever you like on SOL. Even identical names if the contract address differs
-
I was talking about FreeWallet all I was asking on Dexscreener was I had seen it listed… everything else had to do with FreeWallet even the fluctuations.
-
But thank you guys
-
Ok Karen

-
I don't think Counterparty and/or Freewallet uses standard BIP39 so you're not going to generate the same addresses as with Sparrow from a seed word list
- 20 June 2024 (1 messages)
-
Freewallet supports creating a wallet and passphrase with either a Counterwallet style set of words or a BIP-39 set of words. Most wallets do not support Counterwallet passphrases because it uses a different set of words (and is much older and less used).
BIP-39 I believe is very supported by other wallets such as Electrum (not sure about Sparrow) if you wanted to use a different wallet of your choosing for BTC-only functions.
So it comes down to what choice you as a user originally made when creating a Counterwallet or BIP-39 passphrase when creating your wallet in FW.
Though I have had success by simply exporting my address specific private key even when I chose a Counterwallet style passphrase to access that specific address in other wallets (again Electrum is very recommended). - 23 June 2024 (4 messages)
-
I have a situation with my free wallet I have about 105usd in btc in it. When I go to send it says not enough funds to send and when I try to exchange it for something else it says says send failed.
-
Need to consolidate your UTXOs. Electrum or Sparrow are good options. Import the private key and send all to yourself.
-
So I when to Electrum and it says import a btc address or import keys and that it will create a watch only wallet is that what I need?
-
It can’t import your freewallet seed but it can import an individual private key. You don’t want to create a watch wallet

Will freewallet be discontinued or no longer developed?
-
FreeWallet, we will be updated to use the new Explorer API’s soon. The plan is to maintain FreeWallet, but it really depends on how much work it is to maintain it…. And depends on if protocol changes like the dispenser change are forced into the counterparty core client (thereby breaking freewallet-mobile functionality)
Users should be able to buy from dispensers using BTC , if that changes overnight without it being a phased in approach, then most likely FreeWallet will just remove dispensers entirely🤷🏻♂️
This is not new information as I’ve been saying it for many months. 👍🏻 -
What's your second favorite wallet?
-
There is no second best
-
Counterparty protocol upgrades in the next release (10.3) can be followed here:

-
Should I withdraw my order from dispenser in Freewallet?
-
What you use for back up Branch?
-
Well, I made it abundantly clear for many months that I will not be forced to upgrade to this dispenser change when it can be phased in….. so I guess it’s up to the core founders if they want to fork the chain by forcing unnecessary change at this time…. My position has not changed.
In fact, the founders were willing to phase the dispenser changes and then decided to go back on their word, and the dispenser change…
It’s out of my hands at this point, but I’ve made it abundantly clear. I won’t be forced to update to a version that I don’t agree with…. So it’s on the founders now if they wanna fork the chain by forcing a protocol change that many in the community disagree with when they could phase it in incrementally.🤷🏻♂️ -
I’m glad to see that there are some awesome changes coming to counterparty, and I’m fine with protocol changes that add functionality…. But wrapping in a breaking dispenser change with those additions is entirely unnecessary and WILL result in a chain fork.
I certainly hope the founders make the right decision for the community, considering most people still use xchain in FreeWallet as their primary source of information and interacting with counterparty.
Even if they release their own explorer and their own wallets, it will take quite a while for users to get comfortable with those tools and migrate to using those tools ….. so releasing their wallet and explorer in concert with a protocol change doesn’t really solve anything….. and just makes them look bad by making breaking changes to tools that have been around for years in order to force people to use their brand new untested tools🤷🏻♂️ -
that’s about all I have to say about counterparty at this point… my time and energy is better spent building better solutions and tools rather than continuing to argue with founders who are on their own path….
I encourage you to talk with longtime community members, including Shaban of SOG about his views….. I am not the only one who questions the cofounders motives, commitment to the “community”, removal of community tools, such as CIP’s and fednode, etc.
I’m just the one who’s the most most vocal about about the changes, but there are a number of people in the community who have similar views and the question the founders motives 🤷🏻♂️ -
Just to clarify, what is the "breaking dispenser change"?
-
Removing the ability for anyone to pay a dispenser using just a normal BTC send.
The co-founders want to make it so that dispense is a counterparty specific action and you have to use a counterparty specific wallet to use dispensers.
There was a proposal to implement their new counterparty dispense method, as well as leave the ability for users to trigger dispensers using just normal BTC payments from any wallet…. The idea to get some ACTUAL statistics on which method is primarily used before completely disabling what has been working for many years.
Once I said I disagree with the dispenser change being forced, they changed their mind and went from phasing in the change back to completely breaking backwards compatibility on dispensers.
I spoke a bit about this in my interview that I did with ZeroG a couple months ago. -
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/milestone/23
And can we really deduce from these very brief bullet points that the changes are not being "phased in"? Honest question - TBH I haven't been able to closely follow the recent discussionsv10.3.0 (Protocol Change) Milestone · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-coreCounterparty Protocol Reference Implementation. This is yet another part of the problem… conversations are not had in a public place where people can easily reference what has happened in the past…. There have been about four or five different issues and pull requests where conversations on this were captured…. But then those issues were closed and the conversations disappear and people really have to dig to see the history.
I don’t want to spend any more time than necessary talking about counterparty…. I’ll spend a minute or two now digging up the relevant conversations and pull request so you can see that there was proposal to phase things and then they went back on that.🤷🏻♂️ -
Here is the relevant conversation where there WAS a "phase-in" approach that I agreed with..

</end counterparty dev conversation>... all I want to say has been said in comments already 🙂
-
-
Not much has changed as far as load on my servers and number of users depending on xchain / freewallet since Jan.... more block explorers and wallets (closed source) have appeared, which is good for CP overall... but i'm not seeing any reduction in the demand for xchain and freewallet.
-
cause there's no second best
-
I would probably use rpw.wtf idk
-
Fugggggg
-
if they force the change and it screws with freewallet where will you personally hold all of your CP assets? I assume the wallet will still be safe just no more dispensers?
-
Its a complex issue... if the ledger forks, then essentially we have 2 chains, all assets are duplicated on the "new" version of CP... it is not an outcome anyone wants, and should be avoided at all costs... but, the founders know this and are using it to try and force changes under the guise of "this is a consensus critical bug which has to be addressed NOW"... so, as I've said before, the ball is in their court if they want to release a new version of counterparty which breaks backwards compataibility with dispensers and forks the network, after many community members have voiced concern and there is no "consensus" on the issue. The slow and steady approach of phasing in changes and keeping everything reverse compatible is the way CP has been maintained for many years... We are now in new territory, and we are going to see how much the founders listen to the "community" 🤷️️️️️️
-
Duplicated huh 🤔
Sounds fishy.
We need supa doopa doopa jdiggitydiggogg wallet.
Where the whale that can fix this for ya?
What would be the ultimate fix? -
Ultimate fix is to not fork in the first place... its not a matter of $$$.. its a matter of is this a "community" project or not... from my perspective, the community has spoken, there is clearly no consensus on this dispensers issue, so in a perfect world, nothing changes with dispensers, or the new dispenser changes are phased in so that things are backwards compatible until it is proven that the majority of the community use this "new" dispense method.
-
I would prefer to not talk about CP anymore right now.... things are still in flux, and i've said my piece in telegram, videos, github issues, etc... so, prefer to focus on getting back to what I enjoy, building things for a community of likeminded people 🙂
-
I'm just making sure my FreeWallet knowledge is up to snuff.
Sucks it overlaps right now🙏
Thanks again for all ya do brother🐸🪖👊 -
i'll always do my best to take the high road and do what is best for the community... that has not changed 🙂
-
-
Just one last thing to be sure my understanding is 100% correct
TLDR, you’re OK with upgrading to v10.3 (whenever it gets released, which is still unknown) IF a phased-in approach such as the one that was discussed on GitHub is implemented? -
I can't/won't commit to upgrading to any version at this time until I see all the features/changes included in the release... but, if there is a phased in approach to dispenser changes then that is a step in the right direction, and I would be open to updating to a version that has
A.) New features / bugfixes
B.) Phased in dispenser approach without breaking backwards compatability (ability to pay with just BTC remains) -
- 27 June 2024 (16 messages)
-
15 dispenses yesterday, 10 the day before, etc…. Dispensers are not exactly dominating and I’d bet the majority and more likely ALL came from a CP enabled wallets.
So to fork over something so trivial that is hardly being used at the current point and time is a terrible take IMO -
I’m sorry you have that viewpoint… maybe ask yourself how are most users onboarded to counterparty? Do they download a counterparty Wallet and start using counterparty right off the bat or are they introduced to counterparty by buying something from a dispenser using a normal BTC wallet?
Once they have a token they are incentivized to download a counterparty Wallet and learn more about it.
And once again, to be clear, I am not forking anything. I am simply running a version of counterparty that I agree with.
The new release would be the fork, and the decision not to listen to a good portion of the community, and the results of that decision are on the developers, not me🤷🏻♂️
I too am excited about updates that the developers can bring to counterparty, but not at the cost of breaking dispensers in a way that is not backwards compatible.
Instead of just fully backing whatever the cofounders wanna do perhaps taking a slower incremental approach to changes as we have over the past 9+ years Is a better route.
Also, perhaps you should check the counterparty developer chats sure seems like no developers are talking anymore and everyone is asking where are the cofounders… Is this how you want a community project to operate? Community members confused as to what is going on what features will be released and unable to communicate with the actual developers on a daily basis?
I’m not interested in continuing to debate my viewpoints… it’s not my job to convince people to see things one way or the other I’m simply stating my truth, and my views that I will not run something that breaks the feature that has onboarded most users to counterparty over the past few years.🤷🏻♂️ -
-
@XCERXCP respectfully… can we please try to limit conversations here to features and functionality around FreeWallet…. If you want to talk about counterparty features take it to the counterparty chat rooms🤷🏻♂️
-
-
Maybe you should communicate that to the core devs…. They are one choosing to break backwards compatibility instead of phasing in changes🤷🏻♂️
-
-
Let’s keep conversations in this channel about FreeWallet and FreeWallet features. If you want to ask about forks, duplicated ledgers, And value being destroyed for everyone, you can ask in the counterparty chats.
There’s a long history of forks in the past…. Ethereum (ETH) vs Ethereum classic (ETC)…. Bitcoin (BTC) vs Bitcoin Cash (BCH), etc.
Forks are no good for anyone and should be avoided at all costs👍🏻 -
-
-
-
-
Last warning…. Let’s keep conversations here about FreeWallet and FreeWallet features.
-
If you wanna talk about forks and how they play out, take it to the counterparty channels.
-
I've had better responses and better commradoreee up in here than over there. I truly thought my question pertained to FreeWallet to.
I'll drop it.
🪖👊 -
I understand you’re just just trying to get some answers… but the more I engage here and talk about counterparty and features and future releases, the more controversial conversations become.
I prefer to stay focused on building tools to make tokens on bitcoin and other platforms easier to use versus wasting my time rehashing conversations which have been had again and again over the past six months👍🏻 - 28 June 2024 (4 messages)

I’m a newbie at all this but I have acquired some btc token (I think) like a “dancing Trump” and a “Snowdenpepe.” I seem to be unable to move them off the free wallet platform like I was once able. The desktop version allows me to move my btc in and out…. No problem…. Any advice will be appreciated.

Just do it! ;)

If your using mobile version, it’s prolly an issue with your server setting…. Try matching these settings

I'm using a Trezor with Freewallet and when I try to do a function (create token, destroy token, update description) the program wants to take me to freewallet.io to sign the transaction before I can fill out any of the fields. Should I write up a GH issue @jdogresorg?
-
Yes, pls create a GitHub issue n I’ll look into it👍🏻

Informational only note.
I just had an odd FW glitch where the column sort function on Dispensers tabs stopped working.
Closed and re-opened the app and its working again. -
