I heard there might be an issue... will dig into it... pls go to github n create an issue for it and i'll dig into it in the next week or so.... if you want to buy from a dispenser, try just doing a normal send of BTC to the dispenser address... could be that the "buy from dispenser" interface wasn't updated to create a dispense tx instead of a normal BTC send.... I know sending BTC to a dispenser addresss via the send interface detects payments to addresses with dispensers and converts them to dispense

I am having trouble opening a new disp on fw 9.36 -
Take a look at the user manual in the pinned messages / website... Putting up these old tokens using the XCP DEX or Dispensers is explained in thorough detail. (With the new updates to "xcp 2.0" it is also possible to set up Atomic Swaps but Freewallet 2.0 or classic do not support this at the moment... You would have to use Horizon to do that)
Furthermore the forked Counterparty chain supported by FW classic is used much less often and most of the community used the new 2.0 chain and would be your best bet to NOT sell using classic at this time due to even lower liquidity interest there -

Stamps are numeric assets and creating dispensers for numeric assets IS supported in FW desktop v 2.0.1 .... You sure you have updated to the most recent version?

Ohhh I see, you are trying in Classic... Haven't tried creating a dispenser for a stamp in classic... If there is an issue doing that, definitely create an issue for it in the github

Is this still accurate information? I opened a dispenser using freewallet 2.01 (2.0 version) just as I always have from my main address and providing the dispenser address (new empty wallet addy), asset name, number to escrow, price per unit, etc. with one transaction. It looks like it is now open and working, but as no one has made a purchase, I can't be sure. -

Jdog has plans to revamp it in 2025 (community has been asking for a long time to get it updated) - last update for mobile was March 2019
as for the Linux issue - best to describe what is going on and what issues you are having in the FW Github... a few users have mentioned how to install with Linux, but you are the first ive seen to mention it doesnt work

On CP 2.0, you can no longer open a dispensers on a new empty/address as you have in the past in a single tx... if you look at your dispenser tx, the "source" and "origin" addresses are the same... You now need to send the asset and some BTC to the new/empty address, and THEN switch to the new empty/address and open the dispenser from there

Horizon wallet does some stuff in the background to try and make it "seem" like this functionality still exists... but in the background it is still multiple txs, they just hide that from the user

correct... if your using CP 2.0, then normal BTC sends to the address will not trigger a dispense, it has to be a CP 2.0 dispense tx.... CP 2.0 forces users to have to use Counterparty compatible wallets to use dispensers rather than any normal Bitcoin wallet, as it has been for many years previous

Should the freewallet create a dispenser tool have a pop-up that says, "hey, this has to be done AFTER you move some BTC and the assets you want to sell over to a new wallet address."

Because the current form has the main address and dispenser address fields which are now not correct -

At some point, I could update freewallet to make it automatically send BTC and assets to the new addresss and open the dispenser on the new address... but I dont really have much desire to keep updating the wallet to chase all the changes and updates that the CP 2.0 devs are making at this time, and prefer to focus my time building on XChain platform instead.

there is no primary / secondary address... just a message that tells you what address your setting the dispenser up on... at this time it is on the user to verify the details before they click confirm to sign and broadcast the tx

CP 2.0 only dispenses on CP "dispsense" transactions.... FreeWallet 2.0 should automatically detect if you try and send BTC to an address with a dispenser and ask you if you want to trigger a "dispense" and convert the normal BTC send into a "dispsense" tx

Hey all. really easy question. I still love FreeWallet and want to keep using. I was hoping for some very basic answers.
I’m currently running FreeWallet 2.0.1 & I have a couple of dispensers open in different addies.
As far as I know the tokens are not at risk?
& another FreeWallet user is still able to activate my dispenser by sending correct btc.
Is this accurate? And if not what am I missing?

Correct if you just keep using FreeWallet 2.0.1 then you’re only using counterparty 2.0 and your tokens are perfectly fine

This has been explained a few times Joe….. counterparty 2.0 only activates dispensers with the dispense message…. Counterparty classic dispensers, dispense with any BTC payment….
So any BTC payment to an address with a dispenser on classic will result in a dispense, this includes counterparty 2.0 dispense messages, since they are part message and a BTC output to a address with a dispenser on it -

try a restart of FW, any VPN you are using and then try a restart of your Computer and it should help - clicking around too fast can make your connection to Tokenscan rate limited

are you using the most recent Freewallet Desktop version which is v2.0.1? -
That error is coming directly from the counterparty 2.0 API…. So you should ask the counterparty 2.0 developers what that error means and how to fix it…. More than likely it is just a temporary error and on your next API request it will work fine, however, if you are consistently getting this error, then you should probably ask the counterparty 2.0 developers what that error means and how to resolve it.
FreeWallet simply takes the data. You enter into the form and passes it on to the counterparty API to generate a transaction, and that error message is coming directly from the counterparty API, and is not a FreeWallet specific issue -
I think what people are having trouble wrapping their head around (as I did, and still am) is that for years Jdog was the default tech support guy for Counterparty AND his own tools (Freewallet and xchain (now tokenscan)). Of course, he didn't have to help everyone out constantly, but he did. People took that for granted and continue to do so. Others like Dave and myself step in from time to time, but the brunt of it still lands on J.
In this new world, Jdog has separated himself from the protocol and is now a developer just like stamped ninja, stampverse, rarepepewallet, etc. He can only address issues with his software. Everything else must be directed towards the maintainers of the protocol. -

The only way anyone is able to buy using BTC on the DEX is via freewallet, so since I see completed orders n no one else complaining, I’ll wait for a detailed bug report with info to reproduce the issue to be submittted👍🏻

they are separate protocols - actions are now independent from each other - you cannot move assets from Classic to CP2.0 nor vice versa
if you canceled your old dispenser on FW classic, it will be back in your wallet on FW classic / the action of closing that dispenser will be shown on the Classic Tokenscan block explorer

actually YES... classic dispensers trigger with just a BTC payment, as they always have... CP 2.0 only triggers with the new counterparty "dispense" transaction which includes an OP_RETURN output and a BTC output... so, to accurately answer your question, YES, you can trigger a classic dispenser using just a BTC payment, or a CP 2.0 dispense payment.

ugh! I've heard that complaint many times about freewallet.org, that they lock accounts, that they charge inactivity fees, etc.... This is why you should always use a non-custodial wallet (one where only YOU have access to your funds, and you dont need a 3rd party or company to access your funds). FreeWallet.io is non-custdodial and open source and the developers never have access to your funds..... Really sorry to hear you lost funds. Since they are a business perhaps you could try the better business bureau or filing a lawsuit against them to get your BTC back.... $50k of BTC is a lot for them to take from you

If you’re using counterparty 2.0 then you need to use a counterparty 2.0 compatible wallet to use dispensers….. the counterparty core developers changed the way dispensers work so you can no longer just send BTC to a dispenser

I saw the above issue for PEPECASH. This might be related, not sure. I was pretty sure that I picked OG CounterParty when I looked for the dispenser.

So I dug into that dispenser yesterday and dug into the counterparty database and discovered that that dispenser was in one counter party database, but upon a full parts of the database that dispenser was no longer valid in the counterparty database..
Token scan parses data from the counterparty database in real time and does not really support automatic rollbacks. Yesterday I rolled the token scan database back to before the replay protection was enabled, and then passed forward using the full parse database to ensure that all of the data was correct.
This is why the dispenser that you sent funds to no longer appears on tokenscan. I had Javier dig into the dispenser a bit, and that is how we discovered that it was in an older database, but not in the full parts verified database.
So unfortunately, you sent your funds to an address which appeared to have a dispenser on it on token scan, but which in reality did not have an open dispenser on counterparty.
This is the very first time I’ve seen this issue, and it was related to a reorg and a data syncing issue.
However, I am aware of who set up this dispenser and this person specifically set up this dispenser to scam people…. The person who set up the dispenser is.@stackbtc and he is a bit mentally unstable. -
Either way, the mistake was on classic.tokenscan.io with displaying incorrect data, and so I went ahead and sent you the same amount of BTC that you lost, as I feel this mistake was not your fault

J-Dog, is there a way for a dispenser to have stars or reliability scores or sales numbers on a dispenser? Like on p2p exchange platforms to see the reliability score? I don't know if there is already one in the

It should be ok as long as you don't have multiple dispensers wit da same BTC price

Be careful with setting up multiple dispensers on the same address…. Even if the prices are different, you can trigger multiple dispensers at the same time with a single payment.
Unless you want to do a multi dispense , I would advise that you set up dispensers on separate addresses -

Yes, you will not be able to see counterparty assets in the trezor suite…. Just your btc… you’re only able to see counterparty assets in counterparty compatible wallets…. You can view your counterparty assets in FreeWallet on your trezor, just not in the Trezor suite.

I would encourage you to send a single asset to the trezor and then view the address in FreeWallet, and then send the asset out of your trezor via freewallet…. It will help you understand how to use FreeWallet and Trezor at the same time

Has anyone else experienced issues where in creating an asset (subasset) an error is thrown:

Is anyone else having trouble seeing the dispensers in the freewallet? I had that problem, I installed it on another PC and the problems returned to me on the other PC. I realized that now a window appears that says more. This is what happened to me on the other PC. I didn't get any more options to see the dispensers and the option more came up.

Try switching your address and then switching back to the address you’re trying to create the subset from…. Error signing can mean that it is having a problem with your private key or that your your wallet locked in the background while you were trying to do this transaction…. Make sure your wallet is unlocked and then switch addresses and try again.

not sure what the issue was here you were explaining... but my best guess is just clicking around the wallet too fast.
TokenScan has a rate limiter so if you query a bunch of info really fast (which FW does to get the data showing in the wallet) then you get rate limited and the pages will show up blank.... best to just stop for a minute... restart FW and go slow with Wally the wallet.

use recent desktop version (v2.0.1) - FW mobile has not been updated in many years

and because dispenser logic has changed with recent devs I am not sure if using FW mobile to initiate a dispense will work

I've tried three diff dispensers on mobile, so far none have worked. Fwiw -
New devs changed the rules so only recently updated Counterparty wallets are the only ones able to initiate a dispense.... We warned them users would use old tooling and try... And did my best to write it all over the user manual
FW hasn't been updated in years, so best bet is to use a desktop and only use the most recent version of Freewallet (v2.0.1) -

youd have to have enough xcp in each wallet (sweeps require a dynamic xcp fee depending on how many assets you have in each... more assets = more xcp needed) and manually do them one by one from the address you are sweeping from....

Hrm…. I see balances and credits/debits show the dispense txs… as well as I can view the actual dispense txs fine….. prolly an issue related to some sql where the dispenses are not showing in the sql results… please create an issue for this with the details and I’ll dig into it this coming week.

- make sure you are using Freewallet Desktop most recent version v(2.0.1)
- check your server settings and make sure you click "reset to default"
- restart the Freewallet application and restart computer if issue persists
.... maybe also try loading up a regular send instead of an MPMA send and see if the issue persists?

it's an old trustwallet phrase. i converted it to a pk. it matched my public address in the tool

Frewallet does not use the standard segwit path and it also does not utilize the PBKDF2 process (BIP39 passphrases)
Freewallet only uses the BIP39 words itself. -

If you import it via "Import Private Keys" and then look at your imported addresses I guess it imports the P2PKH legacy address instead of segwit but sorry I dunno how to tweak freewallet to generate the segwit address instead

But for any lurkers remember if your token gets accepted into a curated collection (Such as Fake Rares) that the Tokenscan image will go with the image submitted into the collection and will not update with new description JSONs after that point

bitcoind takes awhile to sync from scratch, even if you have an NVME drive

Probably a few more hours… you should be able to plug in api.counterparty.io into the settings if you really need to send a transaction now… I wish that the counterparty core update process was smoother, but unfortunately, after updating to the latest version of counterparty counterparty core continued to crash… uninstalling, and reinstalling and doing a full sink is probably the best way to bring counterparty back up🤷🏻♂️

So... appears to come up and process some blocks sometimes, and then randomly crash at others... have passed my screenshots and info on in the "Cp developer" channel... we'll see if I get any response... best thing I can suggest at this time is to use default server settings and if things fail, try again... or use the api.counterparty.io server settings I gave yesterday.

I maintained CP for 10 years as a community project... co-founders came back, forced changes in, break shit all over the place, then try to make it seem like it is freewallet that is the issue and not them making changes every other week without any type of support... any asking for help or support is just met with hatred for freewallet... they are focused on profit and driving ppl towards their tools and care fuckall for the actual community that has been using stable tools for many years
