Why do I keep getting error while trying to broadcast Send transaction on free wallet?
-
Joined.
-
Joined.
-
Broadcast error is specific issue with ur address not a Cp issue…. The wallet is generating and signing the tx fine… so not a freewallet issue
-
Maybe related to ur pending txs…. Open debug console… copy signed tx… broadcast urself via a tool like https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/pushtx/
-
Should tell u error when trying to broadcast… tldr, it’s an issue specific to ur address n txs… not an issue with freewallet
-
I'm trying to send b Tc from my counter party wallet. And I keep getting the same broadcast transaction error no details. Sending less than what I have in my wallet.
-
When you say it's an issue specific to your address... What do you mean. Every wallet is pretty straight forward... Send amount to address add transaction fee and hit send. What am I missing
-
Follow the directions above to get to an error message that will tell y why your having issues… the tx is generated and signed fine…. But rejected by the btc network… u gotta find out why… by following the above instructions
-
-
@davesta this is another question I get a few times a month…. Adding it to the FAQ would be awesome! ❤️👍🏻
-
I’ll work on getting better error messaging around broadcasts…. https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/issues/45Broadcast errors · Issue #45 · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop
Need to get more helpful error messaging to bubble up to the surface in Freewallet... so errors are not a black hole.
-
There's also inconsistencies on the desktop version when you change the amount of btc Being sent the dollar value doesn't reflect the proper change.
-
There are a number of issues with the wallet which are documented in the "issues" section on github.... https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/issuesIssues · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop
Desktop wallet for Win/Mac/Linux which supports Bitcoin and Counterparty - Issues · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop
-
if you discover issues, check if the issue is already documented... if so, weigh in on the issue to say it is also an issue for you.... if no issue exists, create one with full tech details on what your issue is and the steps to repeat the issue.... if there is truly an issue, and it is able to be repeated, it should get fixed eventually.
-
Is there a way to see or export all wallets accessible by a seed phrase ?
-
I assume you mean with non-zero balance cuz otherwise it’s a staggering amount of possibilities

yes JPJA made a tool for this

It could be a UTXO issue as described here: https://gist.github.com/davestaxcp/1e2cc086a13c9a2d045876852b57e5be#error-while-trying-to-broadcast-send-transactionFreewallet FAQ 2023 v0.9.23 - Write Up - Draft #5

@TitaniumP its very common on Counterparty addresses to build up UTXO's. While you see a total BTC in your account it is actually many small UTXO's that make up this total balance. Imagine it is 1000 pennies and not $10 total. This is a common error to have freewallet not be able to create a transaction if the correct amount of BTC (not in pennies) cannot be obtained on the address, let me know if this documentation helps that I posted
-
to get around this specific USD rate showing correctly, I just cancel the tx popup Freewallet gives me, hit the refresh button and create the tx again. Freewallet will tell you on the bottom left of the app the last time it has updated its data (which BTC block it is at).

Will take a look - thank you

Screenshots showing every step of the process and good documentation on the issue is best way to identify issues…. Saying “wallet said x” isn’t good enough…. Wallet only does what it is told… if you find that is not true, please document the issue.
If the wallet was spending funds when it wasn’t supposed to, more ppl would be noticing and upset…. The wallet is open source for a reason, so anyone can verify nothing nefarious is happening.
TLDR… if there is an issue, come with all evidence of an issue, and create a GitHub issue for it and wait for the issue to get confirmed/fixed 👍🏻 -
This is something I have heard reported before, but as Jdog expressed, this isn't happening to everyone and seems like it would be more prevalent if a bigger issue. But assuming you are correct in diagnosing your problem, since the process usually doesn't involve getting screenshots this one is difficult to debug as we only see the evidence of the sent tx. Like Jdog mentioned, the best way to go about this would be to recreate the issue with screenshots of what Freewallet showed you and then a tx confirming this issue that link up to the screenshots. Posting that in the "issues" tab of the freewallet github is the place to post it: https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/issuesIssues · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop

glad the update worked! - JPJA made a tool to export all addresses (and keys) created with a 12 word phrase: https://github.com/Jpja/XCP-Export-Segwit
Freewallet will only import those first 10 Legacy and first 10 Segwit. Any imported addresses (like from emblem vault cracking etc.) will have had to have been saved individually with their individual private key.GitHub - Jpja/XCP-Export-Segwit: Export addresses (legacy and segwit) with private keysExport addresses (legacy and segwit) with private keys - Jpja/XCP-Export-Segwit

i wrote about this specific 20 address portion here: https://gist.github.com/davestaxcp/1e2cc086a13c9a2d045876852b57e5be#displaying-the-seed-phrase-and-private-key-of-your-addresssFreewallet FAQ 2023 v0.9.23 - Write Up - Draft #5

Basically addresses beyond the original 20 that are "created" by clicking "create new address" are going to be still backed by your 12 word phrase even though Freewallet didn't load it initially. Any imported address will not automatically load as it is backed by a different 12 word phrase. It is recommended to save the specific private key for any imported addresses. Let me know if you have questions
-
Thank you for the answer. How can I load the beyond 20 addresses (created inside freeWallet) so they can appear in the address list of the updated app ?
-
Any critiques seem like they will be sublte and up for discussion... I'll probably learn 10x what I critique. What's the best way to give feedback, and would you prefer I wait until I've gotten through the whole thing or mention things as I come across them?
-
you can reply to the FAQ - theres been some critiques there already - for general stuff use the Issues on Freewallet github
-
you would "import" the addresses using the import function once you recovered the private keys

please review this in detail as i explained this issue in the FAQ

can it be that in the newest freewallet-version the multisend-function via trezor hardware wallet doesn't work proper? i can't process it, tried many times. with normal addresses from the same wallet no problem, just via hardware wallet not possible atm. always stucks here...
-
-
you are using v0.9.23?
also how many line items on the multi-send are you trying to do? 15? 100?
I haven't seen this error yet with hardware addresses so this would be new to me. -

hello, if i used a low fee to send btc from freewallet is it possible to change the fee?
-
I'm gonna forward my previous response just for others to see
-
you can discuss this more in detail in the Freewallet TG: https://t.me/freewallet_io
But seeing you are referencing the "unconfirmed flag" I think its possible you may be running into this issue: https://gist.github.com/davestaxcp/1e2cc086a13c9a2d045876852b57e5be#failure-to-send-not-enough-btc-in-wallet
Though from your information I believe it may just be a "use a bigger fee next time" type of situation. Since XCP tx's are all BTC tx's it relies on the mempool data and accurately choosing a fee that will be confirmed faster on average.Freewallet.io ChatThis is a channel to discuss FreeWallet and ask questions and let the community answer

thanks 😄
-
-
-
i am rather curious about the —uncofirmed flag and how to set it in freewallet
-
-
freewallet set it to something like 4 sats/vb
-
and current requirements are like 10sats/vb
-
this is just shown and doesnt necessarily relate to your issue, as i believe it references specifically for multisend addresses
-
not urgent but i was curious about the —unconfirmed
-
it references if you are using a multisig wallet
-
or if it expires at some point in future and then my funds are available again
-
-
this is correct
-
-
i see
-
so i see after 24h it should expire
-
-
yep
-
-
and here i was thinking i can overwrite it by setting a higher fee on same tx
-
-
-
-
-
ill keep in mind in the future to check the current fee costs
-
-
-
-
-
i used high fee option but it didnt calculate it properly

I know older versions had this issue: https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/issues/150multisend fee issue on v0.9.19 · Issue #150 · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop

if you see this, remember it is just a recommendation and the mempool can change drastically and fast (as we saw with ordinals and stamps hype)

ability to set fee in sat/b instead of absolute · Issue #12 · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop
I would like to set the fee in sat/b instead of only being able to set absolute values. This would include the option to send 0-fee transactions.
-
interesting
-
it seems that electrum support child pays for fee to speed up tx from legacy wallets
-
-
-
-
Feel free to get other advice on this, but my take is any subsequent transaction (either just sending BTC to yourself or a Counterparty action) with a high enough fee so that the two fees added together divided by the two transactions sizes added together will make for an attractive fee rate, compared to what you're seeing in current blocks... If it was a pretty basic/small transaction size, shouldn't take a lot of extra fee (maybe just double the suggested high fee)... but if it was a stamp mint or something, then will take more fee in the new transaction. At least rates are pretty low right now. Note this is basically child-pays-for-parent (CFPC). Mempool.space will show an effective fee rate after you do a subsequent transaction, and you'll want that number to be looking reasonable.

While no expert, I think you have to wait a lot longer than 24 hours for a TX to drop.
And while I never see anyone suggest this (there must be a reason), I've successfully bumped many CP transactions with CPFP from FreeWallet by doing anything with a high enough fee to make the effective fee rate of the combined transaction attractive to miners. I'd love to hear why this isn't great, and why everyone suggests Electrum... there must be a reason.
OH, just realizing I'm in part of the quote above! - 28 July 2023 (15 messages)

Hi. We have an issue when try to use freewallet to sign a transaction with a legacy address as input and a native segwit address as output.
We create an unsigned transaction using bitcoinjs.Transaction in lib 'bitcoinjs-lib'. The sign process works fine with freewallet in the following three cases:
1. Input: legacy address, Output: legacy address
2. Input: native segwit address, Output: native segwit address
3. Input: native segwit address, Output: legacy address
But freewallet has no response when click 'sign' in the following case:
Input: legacy address, Output: native segwit address
Any ideas about this? Appreciate for your help. -
This definitely worthy of a @jdogresorg look over, though I went ahead and posted this on the Freewallet issues section for documentation: https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/issues/151Signing a TX - input: legacy - Output: native segwit · Issue #151 · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop

thank you! very helpful

I'd love to hear your process for doing so to write up an FAQ for this if you have sped up tx's in the past using freewallet

I'm unclear how much of this is a FreeWallet question vs. just needing to understand CPFC, keeping in mind that Counterparty is odd in that it reuses addresses over and over (vs. typical wallets that send BTC to new addresses with every transaction).
My take is CFPC is bascially just a way of looking at a chain of transactions, not a technical feature of wallets. If you have a low fee on an early transaction (so miners ignore it, because they see plenty of higher-fee transactions), but then add a really high fee on a later transaction that is downstream/dependent on the early transaction(s) to clear first, miners see that it makes sense to mine the chain of transactions to get the combined fees, given the total fees are high enought to make the weight/size of all the transactions attractive in a given fee environment.
When I needed to push through a Counterparty transaction, I'd look at mempool.space, see what my fee rate was, see what the going rate was, and I'd try to ballpark how much additional fee was needed given what was being mined at the time. Then I'd create another Counterparty transaction (seems like it could be anything - creating an asset, locking, sending), and add the additional needed fee amount from the original transaction to whatever I would have gone with for the new transaction. I'm guessing you could also just send all your BTC to yourself and add fee that way (your entire BTC balance to keep UTXOs to a minimum), but I don't think I ever actually did this. When you look at the new transaction on mempool, you'll see an effective fee rate that takes into account both (or all) the transactions waiting to be mined in your chain of transactions.
More technical people might have thoughts on all the above, but that's my take. -
Would be nice to have a MAX send button. Where the gas fee is subtracted from total Send.
-
And adjusts if you tweak the fee! I’ve tried to send all my BTC from an address on FreeWallet, adjusted the fee, and then been left with just dust level BTC in an address.
-
I just load my priv key into electrum. Handles this well.
-
Yep, that seems to be the universal suggestion. If you scroll way up, I was just mentioning I never see just using FreeWallet as an alternative, was wondering if there was a downside.
-
Yes. This is why I've personally referred to Electrum for that feature. Extremely Useful.
-
But don't see why a button can't be applied in the Send Bitcoin Window.
-
Well I am trying to write an FAQ from the viewpoint of a user who may have just done their first XCP tx and ran into this issue of using too small of a fee. Which happens ALOT

I never, because I did a tx a few horus before w/o changing the settings an it went through, so naturally i thought this would too

is it a case of just waiting or is there anything i can do from my side to speed it up

If you scroll up the previous member asked this questions and it seems CPFP is the process. Though I have not tackled an FAQ for this yet. Many users have used electrum to do this process.
In the future make sure to set the fee to HIGH or even higher if you are in a hurry to send your tx -

i have the following, urgent problem...
newest freewallet version
trying to process a multisend, but second signature fails always (don't know why), so tranaction gets canceled automatically.
afterwards the btc required for a new transaction can not be spent again, see failure screen.
just works when i send new btc to the wallet address - but still no multisend possible.
known problem / any solution? -

interesteing bug report: just recognised that if you place a usd-amount in the field, the auto-converted amount of btc is calculated wrong. maybe some processing hickup is caused through this as well?

hmm i just tested this and auto-convert is working fine on my end

Yeah never had this pb as well

great summary. Trying to do that for a transaction stuck since 5 days, but electrum wants to just get my UTXO as an input and not add a new one to increase the fee 🤔.
I wonder if there is services to do a custom transaction building -
Restarting is usually the way to go

I used this as my reference (along with information from other users) https://academy.bit2me.com/en/que-es-child-pays-for-parent-cpfp/#:~:text=The%20term%20Child%20Pays%20For,has%20no%20priority%20for%20miners.&text=Bitcoin%20transactions%2C%20how%20do%20they%20work%3FWhat is Child Pays For Parent (CPFP)?
Child Pays For Parent, is a stuck transaction that allows us to push the confirmation of a transaction in the mempool of a cryptocurrency.

Hi frens!
-
If I close the dispenser and there are still 2 tx pending... they won't be delivered, right?
-
have unadded the trezor addresses like you suggested... and everything works now. just sent >100 cards from my normal address via multisend successfully.
-
They will be delivered I think either you close or not
-
However if you close before their pending tx get confirmed, they might be rugged
-
In the assumption that your tx confirms before theirs
-
@davesta you confirm?
-
It's that they had very low fee rates... they were never going to be confirmed... but what I've done is close the dispenser... and then send them manually... so I can burn the supply without selling!
-
But thks fren!
-
Make sure that you receive the fundd before yeah
-
yes... I pushed it in electrum... maybe I could have done that from the beginning... but hey, everything's solved
-
wow! INTERESTING
