Also a good strategy is click add to contacts on whoever it is and edit their name in your telegram, for example you could make J-Dog The OG. I did it for gmoney awhile back but it just makes it way easier to see the scammers

What does that mean? You can't move funds between them?

looks like some Trezor servers are down atm? - would just mean you couldnt initiate FW functions with Trezor.... @pappyG45 any info on this? is it a FW issue or a Trezor one?

SSeems fishy 😎

pretty sure its a FW one

can you write up an issue for it in the Github then? maybe it is related to the SSL change recently?

you can create watch only addresses in FW
-
Shit I didn't realize that.
So if wanted to transfer out of one I would sign with the 12 words? -
.... a watch only address is just that.... an address that can be used for "watching" only
-
-
and i have no idea what support or integration for a seed signer would be

if you want to learn how to View, Import and Manage addresses with FW, review this:

Except the seed words never touch the computer if using seed signer.

i traded some xcp to btc adn got and order match, then a few hours later it said expired?now today i noticed an order from btcpay saying its sending btc to pay for an order match, but its not mine
-
im not understanding why i didnt get filled, its like the order is there but its empty
-
I suggest you read the user manual and how to use BTC on the DEX…. As buying things with BTC on the decks requires you to leave a wallet open to monitor order matches and then to send the BTC payment within 20 blocks of the order mat before the order mat expires.
-
If you want to buy something using BTC in one transaction use dispensers… if you want to buy something using BTC on the decks place your order using FreeWallet enable auto BTC pay and then leave your wallet. Open to monitor for order matches.
-
I would discourage you from using BTC on the DEX…. As you are learning, it is not as simple as a fire and forget order like every other asset on the DEX….. This is actually why john Villar invented dispensers….. to make a counterparty token using BTC a single transaction
-
ok thanks

Currently reading the manual and want to ask how to do the "simply add them again.." ? Thanks

you can add addresses (in bulk) by using the Actions - Add Addresses button on the top right of FW... just scroll down on the page, info is all there on how to do that :)

Try using the Reset to Default option on v0.9.31 which changes the CP Host to public.xchain.io instead of api.counterparty.io - could be the devs are updating the Counterparty api at the moment
Here is the page to help with different setups of server settings even though the error message is different
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/troubleshooting-issues/stuck-on-checking-data-encoding-fees -
could be also just doing a quick restart of FW or picking a different fee as well :)
-
i just ran into the issue myself and my server settings are on api.counterparty.io
- i simply restarted the wallet and it broadcasted just fine
- if you dont see a confirmation popup it means the tx was not broadcasted, and i double checked on a block explorer :) - 10 May 2024 (10 messages)

In the future *if* this upgrade linked below goes through for "create_dispense" - I think it will be needed to not only upgrade the Desktop version of FW, but also the Mobile version (and force users to use the newest version) to help steer away anybody from accidently sending BTC to a dispenser without the "create_dispense" flag and avoiding any users losing funds
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/1670Make `dispense` a Normal Counterparty Transaction · Issue #1670 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-coreNo longer allow a normal Bitcoin transaction to trigger a dispense; require the CNTRPRTY prefix. -
I disagree with this change, as it adds no additional functionality, removes the ability for any bitcoin address to use a dispenser, and requires that counterparty users now use counterparty wallets…. Of which there are a few…
Also, I have not updated the mobile wallet, and 4+years… and this change would make dispensers no longer work…
From my perspective, this change needs to be discussed at length, and the pros and cons weighed…. Not just announced… as that is how things operate in a community driven project 🤷🏻♂️
I’m holding my tongue for the most part… but I certainly would expect the community to ask questions of changes rather than just blindly accepting them…. Technical details, performance metrics and stats…. All things that should be presented to convince a community one way or the other…. Not declarations and generalizations.
But what do I know? I’m just a “rogue” developer🤷🏻♂️😜 -

-
its a tough spot to be in... but, from my perspective... the devs work for the community, not the other way around... any changes need to be discussed at length and agreed on.... some things can fly by unchecked under the "its too technical" to discuss... but dispeners and how they operate are not one of those things..... they operate fine, have been for years, and if there is a change to the way they work, it should be discussed at length.
-
some things can be pushed through without objections.... but, I dont see this one making it into a release without some serious pushback.... we all want to avoid a ledger fork... and forcing changes on a community is certainly not a path we want to go down.
-
that being said,,, I _STILL_ have faith that Adam will do what he feels is best for Counterparty.... and, he has taken feedback in the past quite well... so, I think reason will prevail

Did you try switching to the empty address
-
Sometimes the balance just shows zero but if you switch to the address it shows the balance
-
for btc balance or xcp asset balances?
-
BTC. The Counterparty tokens appear to be there. Was able to access the funds by sweeping the private key with Electrum, but it was far from a nice experience to see the BTC balance at 0 😂
-
ah yes, sometimes restarting freewallet or your computer can help refresh the API's that are pulling the btc info. you can always look up your address on a btc block explorer like mempool.space to verify :)
- 12 May 2024 (1 messages)

Sure, but when it displays a balance of 0 it doesn’t let you transact. Thank God for Electrum though, it’s the most slick wallet of them all 😂

The BTC balance is requested from a third-party API…. Most likely that request has failed…. You might want to try clicking refresh, or getting on a VPN to change your IP address and see if that fixes the issue issue for you.
In the next version of FreeWallet, I will be updating it to pull address balances directly from addrindexer …. Thereby removing the dependency on a third-party API. - 14 May 2024 (20 messages)

And you’re not able to open up the debug console? That would tell you if you have an API request which is failing..
It’s been a while since I revisited the BTC balance code … I believe it should have three failovers -

It could be that one of the third-party API’s changed their failure response, so the request is failing, but not being detected as a failure, so not failing over to the second and third and fourth api calls….
Debugging information would be very helpful .
I’m on a plane now getting ready to head back to Huntington Beach … I should be able to dig into this tomorrow if it’s still an issue for ppl - 15 May 2024 (19 messages)

Yes, restored to default is the correct settings… if you’re having issues open up the debug console and check. See if you see any red shit….. red probably means your API requests are failing… maybe on a VPN or changing IP address

check the faq... lots of helpful info in there

-
able to get BTC balance and counterparty token balances perfectly fine here, as well as generate a transaction... so doesn't seem to be any issue with the APIs
-
-
as I said earlier, probably an issue on your end with your internet connection.. maybe your firewall or vpn or isp is blocking requests.. cant say for sure, but things seem to be working fine here
-
fyi... you can always check the status of the xchain APIs via https://public.xchain.io/

try your tx again... if you continue to have the same error message... let people know in counterparty chat... as that is where the error is being generated

thanks for the quick reply sir, appreciate it! ✌️

maybe this is what Arvik is also experiencing

yours is same issue as yesterday... your not able to communicate with the API... prolly an issue on your end with your ports being blocked... same advice as yesterday... get on a VPN and try again

no, he is experiencing a communication issue.... your getting fine communication, but getting error from CP API

different issues

pls stop advising ppl to use api.counterparty.io.... I prefer ppl use public.xchain.io, as I control that server and am able to verify exactly what is going on... ppl pointing to api.counterparty.io continue to have intermittent problems.... which is why I set the default to public.xchain.io in the latest release 🙂

Thanks bud 🙂

gotchya will do... how should I clarify on the user manual for choosing to use the counterparty api? at the moment I wrote: "This setting configuration below uses the Official Counterparty API and is also a common and a recommended configuration to use"

the user manual can tell ppl instructions on how to connect to CP API if they want... but I prefer the default solution here to any connection issues is "download latest version of freewallet desktop, click "Reset to default"" ..... easy peasy 🙂

gotchya, will recommend that from now on

much appreciated sir

Yep looks like a networking issue on your end…. If the ports were down or you were not able to communicate, you would get an immediate connection refused error..
It looks like your Web requests are going out and never getting responded to …. I.e.. timeout.
Wish I had more helpful info for ya, bud…. Still looks like networking issues on your end…. As your failing on requests which work fine here -

This is an unsolved error with the Counterparty API at the moment, it is recommended to use v0.9.31 and use the "reset to default" option in the Server Settings. Or you can manually enter them using previous versions by reading over the recommended server settings here: https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/common-questions-using-freewallet-faq/how-do-i-check-my-freewallet-server-settings

There’s a negative balance in my FreeWallet, I had like 100, but is the negative balance even possible ?
-
You owe the blockchain money
-
You had 100 BTC in Freewallet??
-
-
-
-
Imagine? I would be throwing up rn
-
But it’s weird because I didn’t spend the balance, I mean I sent some cards and bought one but had like 100 bucks left worth of btc in there that disappeared, I’ll have to see if I put some extra numbers on the transaction fee which I doubt, don’t know I’ll update later
-
However wouldn’t that give me a transaction error instead of me owing to the blockchain? Sounds kind of strange
-
you can always look up your address on a block explorer and see your balance... idk whats happening with the FW mobile UI in that screenshot
-
-
Haha I was thinking this
-
I forget exactly how I calculated btc balances in freewallet-mobile.... its been a few years since I touched that code.... either an API is handing back that info, or it is some funky math trying to determine balance based off credits/debits... either way, just a display error... you cant spend bitcoin ya dont have 🙂

er... I mean... blame mikeinspace and stamps... they musta stole your money 😛

running into something I haven't seen before with setting up dispensers....
I am in the process of setting up my new fake rare subassets (11 total) and main asset to dispense all tokens in a single dispenser (at the same price).... I sent through the first 8 txs.... but only the second one (???) I did is showing as valid on xchain and xcp dot dev.... Anybody know why this is happening?
- I was using the counterparty api in my server settings. (looks like it has been mentioned before: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/1534)
- I set up the dispenser(s) on a new blank segwit addy created in my wallet as is the correct process to do so
- all tx's are confirmed.
- I am seeing an "Error 404.....message":"Error: Not Found","data":null}" on xcp dot dev for the unsuccessful tx's

will I have to send all the assets to the new address and set them up instead using the Source Address and Dispenser Address as the same one? Or will I run into the same issue?
if so I was not aware I couldnt put up multiple cards in multiple dispensers on a single address anymore.... -
found out doesnt matter what API you use, you will get this error msg:
-
-
Hrm… That’s strange. I believe you should be able to reopen a dispenser on an address using the origin.
-
this was the message when origin and disp are different (and a dispenser is already live on the new addy)
-
-
Again, strange…. Because I know you can close the dispenser from the origin and you can reopen a dispenser from the origin….. at least I have verified that was working back in December when I put out the last release🤷🏻♂️
Lots of stuff being done with the public API without much notice to the users ….. like the current API doesn’t have any support for mempool (pending txs)…. -
once again would suggest using the default servers and not the public counterparty servers to generate transactions.
If you’re using the counterparty APzi servers, then you should probably be asking your questions in the counterparty channel since you’re running on a different version than Xchain and FreeWallet are🤷🏻♂️ -
already did :)

Glad to hear it 👍🏻 I’m not in those channels anymore so I wasn’t aware… sounds like you’re on top of it, sir😀👍🏻

This looks funky…. You should be able to open and close a dispenser on an address from the origin.
-
Please try opening a dispenser on an empty address then close the dispenser once it is open using the origin address then please try to re-open the dispenser from the origin address on the empty address
-
I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but I know this functionality should be working… as I tested it in December…
It is very frustrating to have the counterpart platform continue to change and users continue to be frustrated and confused with things that previously worked no longer work. -
Not frustrated with you, davesta…. Just frustrated with the bullshit way in which the community is being handled and things are being changed.
More confusion on counterparty and what works and what doesn’t work in the past few months then in the past few years -
Im already out $25 in BTC today.... Would love someone else to test it
-
I am too don't worry
-
-
I’m not sure that will work… pretty sure you can open an XCP dispenser on an empty address, then close that dispenser, then reopen the same dispenser for xcp…
If you were trying to open up multiple dispensers on the same address using different tokens , that could explain it. -
it was multiple diff subassets: https://xchain.io/address/bc1qv4mgsvt44ft6nuyyghduvz449mtqj52e6ayumv
-
its because of the new fix for not letting users open dispensers on addresses they dont own (and relied on the address not having btc txs on it) as detailed here: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/1534Dispenser Opening TX Not Showing on Block Explorers · Issue #1534 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core
We have a user in the Freewallet chat wondering why two different 'open dispenser' tx's do not show up on Counterparty Block Explorers the first tx was (user used FW v0.9.25): 2bc048ed3...
-
-
essentially "faking" sales
-
OK, I think we found the issue then…. I believe the origin logic only allows you to reopen a dispenser that was open on an empty address.
In my opinion, the system should be updated to allow the origin address to open up any dispenser on that address …. Since the dispenser couldn’t be opened in the first place if the address wasn’t empty.
Anyway, unfortunately, I think you hit the edge.. if you want to set up multiple dispensers on an address, you’re gonna have to use method one like you suggested… transferring assets and BTC to the address and then opening it from source instead of origin -
As always, bro…. Thanks to your dedication to figuring this out and making things a bit less confusing for users..
I see you and value you brother👍🏻 -
-
-
-
I’ll make sure that when I write the dispensers code in BTNS next week that I add support for opening multiple dispensers from origin address….. so all 8 of your txs would work as expected 👍🏻
-
Also, I see you were answering some questions in the counterparty channel about some tokens that were missing from xchain.
The only thing being hidden on chain right now are numeric assets , and a handful of addresses and assets that were registered by scammers to try to trick people into logging into fake counterwallet sites.
No good deed goes unpunished … even trying to hide scam assets from peoples wallets in hopes of preventing them from getting scammed and losing funds… is spun by some people as XChain as shit and confusing😜🤷🏻♂️ -
-
-
it was just Munehisa Honma asking that and its a GREAT thing you hide those scammer addys and assets
-
-
-
-
-
i think we gotta set the record straight tho...... is Jdog a Swiftie?
-
I’m considering adding Support for numerics back, when I transfer traffic to tokenscan.io….. and explicitly removing stamps (anything with stamp: prefix in any issuance)
It will require a tiny bit more work on my end to detect and flag assets that are specifically stamps …..
But since the only community that has been really abusive is stamps , and other users of suffering as a result, seems to make sense to only single out stamps and remove just those.
There are a lot of early numeric stamps, and experimentation that I feel deserved to be displayed, and not penalized as a result of stamps
TLDR prolly numeric (not stamps) suppprt in the future. -
sounds like their rules of prefix will be their downfall in this circumstance

Now would be a good/cheap time to consolidate utxos… 7sats/byte👍🏻
-
send entire balance to a new address and then send back right?
-
You can send from/to same address ideally
-
-
-
The smallest allowable size for UTXO is 546 Satoshi’s
-
-
The bitcoin network enforces what it calls a dust level…. Which is the minimum amount of bitcoin you can send in a transaction…. This limit is in place to prevent dust attacks….
Dust attacks are transactions where someone is able to create a large transaction while sending a tiny bit of bitcoin ….. These are abusive to the network…. Hence a minimum amount required to send. -
It depends on the number of UTXO you have…. Ideally, you only want one UXO which you pass forward from transaction to transaction.
-
I believe Bob Smith made a tool where you can take a look at your UXO’s and generate a transaction to gather those utxos …. Let you configure what you wanted your dust level to be.
-
Then to consolidate you send entire or really close to entire balance to same address?
-
To consolidate send all of your bitcoin from your address back to your same address minus the Bitcoin minors fee
-
-
-
You should be able to use FreeWallet in the counterpart API to consolidate… counterpart API has balance errors at times… so for gathering UTXO’s electrum is probably the best bet
-
Oh, the insanity…. Using a bitcoin wallet for a bitcoin protocol…. Instead of a counterparty aware wallet.
lol…. Sorry…. Inside joke… couldn’t resist.🤷🏻♂️😜 -
-
-
-
-
Consolidating UTXOs is not terrifying or scary… and overall it saves you on fees
-
Consolidation is generally good, but just be aware of intermingling different sources of Bitcoin (if that matters to you). For instance, if you got some from an exchange and some from a dark market you may want to keep them separate.
-
No one knows what the "right" size is... 0.01 might be fine today but as fees continue to rise larger and larger UTXOs become unspendable. Generally, I consolidate above 0.1.
-
i have 3500 😭
-
pretty sure that last $1500 is stuck 😂
-
You just got use a low fee and wait….
-
Blockstream Block Explorer
Blockstream Explorer is an open source block explorer providing detailed blockchain data across Bitcoin, Testnet, and Liquid. Supports Tor and tracking-free.
-
5700 utxos…. It’s possible to gather them… just low fees and patience
-
As you can see, I’ve already gathered 27,000+ utxos🤷🏻♂️😜
-
-
Trade-off is reverse compatibility with counterwallet, and early counterparty wallets….. though the word list is different. …. You can use bip39…. But no guarantee other wallets will support that.
Also, the derivation path used to generate addresses on counterparty is a bit different than other wallets as well -
So, the 'other' wallets you mentioned are potential cold-wallets for long-term storage consideration?

What’s the deal with free wallet
-
They’ve restricted my account for over two months over “verification”
-
I’ve sent these mofos every possible document one would use or need to verify human life
-
I need help getting my shit yall.
-
It’s still in my account says the site
-
Plz someone help me out
-
You may be using a different freewallet
-
Freewallet.io is correct. Any other sites offering a “Freewallet” are likely scams
-
Freewallet.org is an entirely different wallet for instance

I have a number of open dispensers that I want to close but have bo BTC in those addresses.
Is there a way to pay the miner fee from a different address so I can close these dispensers without sending BTC to the dispenser addresses? -
You should be able to close dispensers from the origin address…. The address that first opened the empty dispenser.
When you close the dispenser from the origin address, any escrow funds are credited to the origin address
This allows, you to easily open up dispensers fund them from an origin address, close dispensers, and get escrow funds credited back to the original address…
All without first having to send BTC and assets to the address before opening the dispenser…. And without having to send BTC and assets back from the dispenser.
However, you should be aware that the core developers of counterparty consider this action as a bug and plan to remove it soon…..
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/1764Eliminate Dependency on AddrIndexRs · Issue #1764 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-coreConsensus-Critical Rollback the dispenser_origin_permission_extended protocol change so we can drop get_oldest_tx() TX Creation Replace get_unspend_txouts() with a call to a public API? like Leathe...
-
Thank you - that is why I am looking to close them. not sure what they will end up doing and whether I would get the assets returned to the originating addresses
-
Prolly a good idea... you can close the dispenser in a single tx now..... in a few weeks, will be 3+ txs prolly
-
if I have 6 different dispensers on (of course) six different addresses can I close them all with one TX?
I never needed to close a dispenser before which might explain the stupid question -
each dispenser you want to closer requires one on-chain tx.... tho that one close action will credit the escrowed tokens back to your address... the only thing you will need to do after you do your 8 close txs is to check each dispenser address and if there is any BTC in the address, need to send that BTC back to your main address
-
-
-
-
cool, I will look up the original addresses that created the dispensers from 😆
-
wow, my beard was so short back then 🙈
-
oh yeah? you lookin like zztop now?

Did we loose Ledger support @jdogresorg? I tried to import an address yesterday, chose Ledger and got the message "the function you are trying to access is coming soon" or something similar
-
gmoney mentioned an issue he had here ^ but it sounded like it was solved.... i think youd be the first to report it
best to file it as an issue in the github -
FreeWallet only ever trezor support…. Never ledger support…. Ledger support only works with rpw.wtf
-
The issue that G-Money reported was for the trezor, was related to Trey back in services being down temporarily, and that issue resolved itself
-
ditch the ledger broooo!
-
Trezor life is best life
-
Got it. All 3 HW logos (ledger, trezor, keep key) still exist in freewallet though
-
I concur. But rpw.wtf doesn’t support it. I thought I could have it all with a ledger but alas I cannot
-
-
I believe rarepepewallet.wtf supports ledger transactions... if that is no longer the case, please reach out to @hodlencoinfield and let him know... AFAIK ledger should still be working
-
I bought a brand new ledger just for RPW and then Ledger did some really dumb shit and I threw the ledger in the trash lol
-
Personally, dont think i'll add ledger support at this time to FreeWallet... perhaps once I am done with XChain wallet and hardware support, i'll circle back n make updates to freewallet to support Ledger.
-
Heres the article I wrote on it - https://oplanbtc.substack.com/p/you-can-now-hold-your-rare-pepesYou can now hold your RARE PEPE'S on Trezor!
Cold Storage support now with RARE PEPE's!
-
yeah... my lagging on Ledger integration turned out to be a good thing... not really sure I want to suport ledger either.. cuz of those "really dumb shit" moves they did
-
Wen Dankest, LLC wallet?
-
good fuk those commies lol
-
FreeWallet 2.0
-
never... XChain Wallet will prolly be name of next walllet.. with multi-chain support, "account" managment instead of "address" management, address-to-address messaging system, etc.... still got more to develop, but shit is coming along nicely 🙂
-
I will see your Trezor article and raise you with my trezor article. Lol. https://subterranean.medium.com/setup-of-the-new-trezor-safe-3-8a9f9b0671e4Setup of the New Trezor Safe 3
To improve the security of my precious Rare Pepes, Wojaks, Cocos, Bobos, Spells of Genesis, Et. al. I thought it best to move them from my…
-
Tho... any wallets developed will not be related to Dankest, LLC.... the only thing Dankest, LLC will put its label on is its specific products which run on Xchain platform (merchant invoicing services, etc)..... XChain Platform, XChain Wallet, XChain Explorer... all will be open source projects, anyone can contribute to, and NOT controlled by Dankest, LLC..... Dankest, LLC is just the company that owns the "XChain" properties (domain, logo, trademark)... but XChain platform is entirely independent.

some versions have a choose hardware wallet option with 3 options - would be good to reserve it to only Trezor on the next update - will also have to change:

When setting up a multi dispenser, is it best to send those assets to a new address before creating the multi dispenser?

does the sweep function in FW work okay I assume? I have never used it so just checking.
-
Works great. Just be sure to have at least 4 XCP in the old wallet to cover the cost of the sweep.
