So say someone loans me a million dollars I use a games of trump card as collateral I put the games of trump card in a dispenser that only I can retrieve the card for the payout amount of the loan (payout goes to lender addy card goes back to my addy) once the time frame agreed on ends if I hadn't payed the dispenser automatically closes and kicks the asset to the lender.
Is this even possible?

Yep... that is already written into the BTNS spec... ALLOW_LIST and BLOCK_LIST... so you can create a list of addresses, then only those addresses can buy... if you want 🙂

You should not use an old version, as counterparty 2.0 devs changed the way a bunch of stuff works, like dispensers…. So if you use an old version of freewallet to send btc to dispensers, dispensers won’t trigger on counterparty 2.0….

You should download and use freewallet classic if you want to use counterparty classic and keep triggering dispensers with normal BTC sends…. Or update to the latest version of freewallet 2.0.1 to use counterparty 2.0

You don’t need to close any dispensers… any dispensers that have been open previously should remain open on both counterparty classic and counterparty 2.0…

What changed was the mechanism which triggers a dispense … in counterparty classic you can send BTC to a dispenser address the same as you always have…. In counterparty 2.0 you must use a counterparty compatible wallet to send BTC to the address and the triggering mechanism has been changed from a normal BTC send to a special dispense message which can only be generated via a counterparty compatible wallet… ie, you can no longer just send BTC from any wallet.

If you’re just coming back to counterparty, I’m sorry you’re coming back to a bit of a mess…. But to answer your question, you should have dispensers open on both counterparty 2.0 and counterparty classic… and if you use counterparty 2.0 to buy from dispensers, it should also trigger the dispenser on counterparty classic.

I’m curious what the issue is with you updating your FreeWallet version… are you just on a really old version of the operating system or something?

counterparty classic dispensers trigger normally... with any BTC send to an address.... counterparty 2.0 dispensers only trigger with the new "dispense" message... which is a custom CP message AND a BTC send to a dispenser address... so, in theory, if there is a dispener setup on both CP 2.0 and CP classic, and you use CP 2.0 to trigger a dispenser using the new "dispense" method... it should trigger both a cp 2.0 dispenser (using the dipense message) and a CP classic dispenser (using the BTC in the send)

if you plan to use both CP classic and CP 2.0... best to generate a new wallet and start using it for cp 2.0... so your only using one set of addresses per ledger... avoids any cross-over confusion

check your public address on an xcp block explorer like tokenscan.io or xcp.io - make sure that address is publicly showing you have assets..... then you know its an issue with Freewallet Mobile not showing it in the app ... my guess is it is simply the servers settings in Freewallet Mobile being outdated

I followed all the instructions to download FreeWallet desktop, using windows bit 64. I even disabled. The S mode was able to successfully launch. It entered my passphrase. Everything looks successful. My balance showed up when I went back to open it up it won’t open. Any suggestions at this point?

a computer restart would be the easiest - sounds like FW is running in the background and your computer still thinks its "open"

sometimes i have to manually end the program in Task Manager and then re-open it - but a restart of your computer will do the same thing

also if you are using a VPN it could complicate things on the connecting to tokenscan servers - so toggling that on and off can help

YES, it is a pain in the ass, and you need to leave your wallet open to listen for order matches and use auto-btcpay... but you can use the DEX to buy things using BTC perfectly fine... tho dispensers is a cleaner route (and the reason they were created was because using BTC on the dex is a bit of a PITA)

can't escrow BTC... so would need a custodian to hold the BTC and sign txs to distribute the BTC when someone sends a token to a dispenser... its not impossible, but can't be done in a trustless way.... I will have dispensers that trigger dispenses with BTC and any other token in XChain platform.... but dispensing BTC from a dispenser is problematic as it requires "trust"... something we dont really want to build into a platform

once your dispenser is closed - you can simply change your address to the dispenser address and send the left over pieces back normally

you can close your dispenser manually from the dispenser address as well

just use the Address icon on the top right and go to Change Address and choose the address you have the dispenser live on - you will need some BTC on that address to send the assets back as well (and closing a dispenser will take 5 blocks for your leftover assets to be returned)

To answer your question I’m assuming that you are using the mobile version of FreeWallet, which hasn’t been updated in a few years and that you’re trying to send to a Segway address which the mobile wallet does not have support for .

You have two options you can take that same 12 word pass phrase that is in your FreeWallet mobile and enter it into Horizon wallet to log into that wallet and access the exact same addresses without the need to move any Bitcoin ….

Or you can download FreeWallet desktop and plug in your 12 Word pass phrase from FreeWallet mobile into FreeWallet desktop to access the same addresses ….. then you should be able to send to a Segway address from FreeWallet desktop to your horizon. Wallet address..

My suggestion would be to just put your 12 word pass phrase directly into horizon and save yourself the BTC transfer fee fees …. However, if you want to keep the wallet separated, or move your BTC to a Sette address which has lower fees on transactions, then a BTC send from a legacy address to a Segway address is probably what you want.

Yup... google it... you can find it... it is the unspendablelabs.com wallet that Adam and his VC backed team are building... also why they depreceated Counterwallet and marked FreeWallet as unsafe on counterparty.io, even tho FreeWallet works perfectly fine on CP 2.0.... Driving users to their wallet as much as they can, and using their influcence as core devs to do so... but, of course, that is just my opinion 🙂

In my view, all the drama began when questions arose about Adam's profitable UL company and the investments involved. It seems to me that there are interests from shadow investors. Even if all the money truly belongs to Adam, it still indicates that he has a vested interest in using his profitable company.

His subsequent actions appear aimed at sidelining other developers who could provide tools to users at a lower cost than his own offerings through his wallet. This makes sense to me after studying and testing his wallet.

I hate to say it, but I cannot currently categorize CP as decentralized because it appears to be driven by the intentions of a single developer. He has repeatedly shown that working with the community is a challenge for him. Even as a less experienced developer, I see that refusing to use the testnet properly before implementing new features demonstrates a lack of professionalism, or it may suggest intentions that differ from what has been communicated to the public.

It’s not hidden! Before you can even use the wallet, a screen pops up that tells you that there’s an automatic donation system that it’s not mandatory and points you exactly where to turn it off…. You can’t even proceed to access the wallet until you click. I have read and understand the above….

I’m not exactly sure what else one expects me to do to make people aware of the fact that there is an automatic donation system…. I even put an additional notification on the about screen.

There’s definitely no intention to try to trick people into donating… I do my best to make sure users are aware of exactly what’s going on in the wallet and how to customize it so that they don’t make donations if they don’t want to…… and I make them agree that they’ve read what I have put in front of them…. Short of not collecting donations and resorting back to begging for people to please donate, which never resulted in enough funds to cover my development and hosting costs…

but I do appreciate your viewpoint… and I encourage you to go to the setting screen and disable donations if you don’t feel comfortable making them👍🏻

Hello I was asking about nomni about a year ago no one seemed to say it there was no value and had to try to put it up for sale. What you saw 22 days ago, was someone else trying to sell their worthless tokens …. If you click on the dispenses tab, you can see that no one has actually paid any bitcoin or wanted to buy nomni for over two years…

If there was value in the token , there would be a market of buyers buying the token. Considering there’s been no buyers for over two years, that indicates there is no real interest by anyone buying this token

no, you will not be able to see the token within Trezor suite until Trezor works on integrating Counterparty tokens into their platform. For now you will have to use FreeWallet or tokenscan.io to view your address balances and images

So rather than building an api to store PSBTs swaps in counterparty (similar to how orders and dispensers are done), they choose to build a marketplace site n charge for listings vs doing it in a truly decentralized and trustless way where they charge/destroy some XCP for a listing fee (benefiting all xcp holders vs just benefitting Horizon)

Could have had a marketplace API at a protocol level where any wallet could create a PSBT swap n advertise it, and any wallets/sites/marketplaces could have pulled a list of open trades n listed them, a truly fair/open marketplace where anyone could participate, instead of a walled off marketplace to drive traffic / profit to Horizon.🤷🏻‍♂️

And one wonders why I was concerned about them getting VC funding would how drive their CP development towards profit for their company/products and not what’s best for the CP community (decentralization)

Of course, just my opinion…. Fine with them building stuff, but this could have/should have been built in a trustless way which benefitted the xcp community and holders, not just in a way that requires ppl to trust horizon and only benefits them financially🤷🏻‍♂️

My focus in xchain platform is on cross-chain swaps... still not sold on the UTXO binding/atomic swap model... but if/when I ever add atomic swaps to XChain platform... best believe I will do it in a way where it is easy for ANYONE to pull a list of potential swaps and allow ANY marketplace/wallet to participate in advertising those swaps..... I believe that the best products are built when there is an even playing field and the product has to excel in features vs limiting functionality and building walled gardens... again, just my opinion

My primary focus is on building the platform and airdropping the X chain supply and allowing people to mint the xchain supply…. And having the price be driven by dispensers in orders and some other fun features that we have planned…. I think centralized exchanges are good for pumping price, but that’s not a motivation of mine with Xchain platform at this time…. When something truly takes off, the exchanges want to participate and do listings and reach out…. Versus chasing down listings and paying for them…

As the guy who spent over a year doing exchange listings for counterparty, we saw very little value added to the platform with the exchange listings, and in fact, now it is more of a hindrance having the exchange listing where just a little bit of liquidity on a centralized exchange can move the price up and down so easily.

I believe the price should be driven in a decentralized way, and that as time goes on, it will naturally get added to exchanges

I think more usage on the platform and sticking to the ethos that counterparty has had from the beginning of doing things in a truly fair and decentralized way is what will drive the price up….. not printing more supply, even if it’s distributed via a stock split type mindset, or having 15 to 20 different NFT market places all segmented off from one another and framing that as decentralized…. At the end of the day, I feel more trust is being built into counterparty than it should be, and the protocol should always strive to do things in 100% trustless and fair way, and not be motivated in any way by profit…. The profit should always be focused on the end users and how to provide them with tools where they are able to sell directly and do things in a peer-to-peer manner with no third parties or centralization or trust required.

Butt as always, this is just my opinion, and I’m fine with differing viewpoints

Have a TX we can look over if it is unusable? Be careful with clicking around refreshing things in the wallet too fast, best guess is you are getting rate limited. Best to wait a few minutes and try again. A restart of the program and computer usually helps too
