That glitch cost me about $1100 USD in BTC when I was in a COVID fever in Barcelona hotel room a week after HNFT 2022.
It flipped from lowest to randomly put the highest at the top an instant before I clicked the Buy button and in my fever addled brain state, I didn't notice when I then clicked Max Buy that I was buying the most expensive XCP in the universe.
My dumb mistake, but still would not have happened if it didn't auto re-sort every X seconds. -
I think I got 0.1 XCP for $1100
-
yes, I may be the only person to ever buy XCP at $11,000 a unit :)
-
Yeah, I believe that’s an issue with the data table automatically redrawing, and the sort order not being saved and so the table redraws in its default state… I should be able to fix that by storing the sort order and then when they tables re-draw it should keep that sort order…. If you could please create a GitHub issue for that, I’ll look into it and see if I can get it included in the next release

Error composing issuance transaction via API: ['insufficient funds']
-
Fuck know then m8
-
Maybe ask your question in counterparty chat because the error is coming directly from counterparty not a FreeWallet issue🤷🏻♂️
-
I believe that error is saying u don’t have enough xcp to do the issuance tx
-
Yep I believe you need more XCP on the address doing the token creation
-
When the issue is insufficient BTC, the error message is
"Error composing send transaction via API: Insufficient BTC at address ..."
BTW I'm aware of cases where people are getting that error message despite having plenty of BTC on the address, and uxtos fully consolidated
It seems that issue was resolved with Counterparty v10 and API v2 - if you need more info on that feel free to DM me -
Anyone else getting stuck on "Decoding transaction..." when trying to sign a raw tx?
— -
Create an issue for it and I’ll look into it for the next free wallet release
-
Decoding transaction looks up data from an external API… could be that portion is failing
-
Hi! 2 things.
1st: when creating a dispenser for say pepecash and clicking on 'view on xchain' the data on xchain will be incorrect! it will be multiplied by millions and it looks scary because i thought maybe now someone can come and get all my pepecash for cheap. so if anyone else comes across this issue, ... it's a bug of xchain and not freewallet - once the confirmation is in, the numbers are correct - don't worry! BUT it would be nice if freewallet gives a hint to it somewhere to prevent fear-based reactions to it.
2nd: the 'view transaction' on history->right-click record pop up does nothing.
probably a bug. -
-
Please create issues for these on GitHub and I’ll look into getting them fixed soon
-
but i dont need xcp to move funds tho do i ?
-
CORRECT , but trying to purchase xcp now and im getting this error
-
Error composing send transaction via API: Insufficient BTC at address 1PEP6GtjNfh3PrwWGHeJWnp1KNFMsT1sT2. (Need approximately 0.000646 BTC.) To spend unconfirmed coins, use the flag --unconfirmed. (Unconfirmed coins cannot be spent from multi‐sig addresses.)

hmm... okay so looks like you took care of the outputs and consolidated which is good, strange to still see the error.... @Niftyboss1 thanks for chiming in, we used to see this error alot more when fees were higher but it is strange because this address seems pretty clean.
the only other option i can think to try since it sounds like you have tried to troubleshoot alot of other possible solutions is the UTXO usage option in the settings -
again @ROCCOS_WORLD it would be best to go through all the possible solutions one more time when seeing this error such as:
restarting your computer,
restarting your router,
verifying you are on the default server settings for the most recent FW version,
»using the debug function to record any possible technical errors when making this counterparty action,
using another counterparty wallet to complete the function you intend to do, such as rarepepewallet.wtf etc.
including this info in the FW github issues section with debug info would also be very helpful at diagnosing the issue if it persists: https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/issues
this could also be a protocol related thing and if you have thoroughly troubleshot the other options, it would be a great idea to respectfully file your issue (with your FW Debug info included!!!) and troubleshooting process in an issue ticket as mentioned by Jdog here ^.... its not impossible that when Adam and the new team are doing significant code updates that some bugs will have to be reported by the community

I have an open dispenser on an address that has nothing else in it. When I select “close” I see this message:
“Error composing dispenser transaction via API: Insufficient BTC at address 1N3arN5KbLryvMWS4TUYT6C6RYzQT39sfb. (Need approximately 0.00025 BTC.) To spend unconfirmed coins, use the flag --unconfirmed. (Unconfirmed coins cannot be spent from multi‐sig addresses.)”
any ideas?
This is the 1st time I really tried to close one -
must I send BTC to this address in order to close it?
-
link to dispenser pls
-
-
if you opened the dispensers on an empty address from a different address (origin) address... then you should be able to close the dispenser from the original/origin address, and the tokens will be credited back to the origin address.... tho, who knows how long that functionality will last, since Adam and team plan to remove the "origin" functionality
-
-
it looks like the origin address is 14oQsD5QyM9WxGhsqqwjHJkZmvmNP8F7w4
-
try closing the dispenser from that address
-
TLDR... switch to address 14oQsD5QyM9WxGhsqqwjHJkZmvmNP8F7w4 in freewallet... then chose "Main Menu->Close dispenser" and paste in 26a411dff419277c98e1eab94716c64730e28fd16f5676ec01ab110dc7d64317
-
cool, will try that
-
-
if that works I will close several - I see that they may clober this feature soon
-
it now says: “Transaction hash points to a dispenser on a different address!”
-
I tried to close it from: 14oQsD5QyM9WxGhsqqwjHJkZmvmNP8F7w4
-
disabling this features saddens many of us in the community... but yes it has been discussed in great length and is a great thorn in our side for many of us who disagree with changing it:

-
not sure what I might be missing
-
is it impossible for the devs to just return the token to the source address?
-
strange! that should work.... I closed from an origin address recently...
the other option would be to close from 1N3arN5KbLryvMWS4TUYT6C6RYzQT39sfb - but you will need to send some BTC (probably about $10) to then close from there -
the devs simply set up the protocol for you to do this close and open dispenser yourself. they have no control over a specific dispenser nor can help in that manner.... sounds like you will need to close from the Source instead of the Origin for this one if closing from Source didnt work
-
I did try both but did not send BTC 1st
-
you will need BTC on the address (1N3arN5KbLryvMWS4TUYT6C6RYzQT39sfb) to pay for the BTC tx fee for the close dispenser transaction
-
I think it might be a freewallet limitation where I dont yet allow closing from origin address... I thought some ppl had done that before, but perhaps not... sec i'll get a tx for u to sign
-
awesome!
-
this only came up recently once the devs stated they would EOL the feature of dispensers
-
I never planned/intended to need to close anything before recently

main menu->sign transaction -> sign -> broadcast.... normally I would say NEVER do what I am telling you to do (sign an unknown transaction)...
-
but not stealing your funds 😛
-
-
will try this Thank you
-
feel free to paste that tx data into this form and decode it... to verify that the only outputs are only sending BTC back to your address 🙂
-
was there a way I could have done this on my own? I have other dispensers that are in the same situation…
-
after I sign it does it broadcast automatically? There was no additional option to broadcast
-
-
you prolly did sign message... you need to do sign transaction... then click "sign"... then once you see the signed transaction box all filled up... click "broadcast"
-
I cant sign the tx since I dont control the orgin address... but you should be able to 🙂
-
you COULD download postman and generate CP API requests yourself....

or... create a github issue at github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/issues about being able to close dispensers from "origin" address... I'll be putting out a new freewallet release in the next week or so... so, if you can wait a week or so, should be able to just do it in freewalletIssues · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop

easy peasy 🙂
-
prefer that conversations about counterparty features happen in the counterparty rooms... I am done discussing decisions the counterparty core devs are making... its to triggering for me... I prefer to stay focused on moving forward... XChain platform should be done in another month or two... at which point, there will be options for CP ppl... cant say exactly what I am working on, but, asset owners will be happy 🙂
-
if the devs will give us enough time, I can wait
-
pls create an issue on github for it... otherwise i'll forget n it wont get in the next freewallet relase 😉
-
thx bro
-
-
Yh I feel you, I only really want to know if we should be closing dispensers or we ok
-
Worst case, they prolly close all dispensers and credit any balances to the dispenser address... so, you'd have to spend BTC to fund the address and (re)-collect any escrowed funds from the dispenser address... but, all just guessing.. best to ask them what their plans are 🤷️️️️
-
BTW, was I supposed to sign from the originating address or the address that holds the dispenser?
I never was offerred the broadcast button -
switch to address 14oQsD5QyM9WxGhsqqwjHJkZmvmNP8F7w4
-
then try to sign the tx... should work I believe 🙂
-
I did that
-
no “broadcast” button
-
Jeepers, not really been paying attention, do they even communicate their plans with the chat
-
you on freewallet desktop?
-
I'll ask in there
-
yes
-
-
weird... broadcast button should appear by default... create github issue n i'll look into it
-
haven't communicated a bunch of plans... breaking CP API... breaking counterparty fednode... deleting 9 years of counterparty improvement proposals... forcing all conversations to github, etc... so, from my perspective... NOPE... they on their own path... with their own plans for their company 🤷️️ Beyond that, please ask in CP chats... only freewallet chatter in here pls
-
They seem quiet these days also
-
yeah... imo we have very different ideas of what a "community" project is and how it should be run 🤷️️
-
Look forward to see what you are building
-
I see what happened
-
I chose “Sign Message” rather than “sign TX”
-
I did do the broadcast

Is there a special trick to get a successfull xchain api response outside of a browser environment/browser based application? Because Cloudflare is blocking me. I guess for Freewallet it just works because its basically a browser thanks to nwjs and therefore goes through Cloudflare.
-
Try changing your user agent…. Prolly cloud flare blocking “bot” requests
-
not working i got the user agent, accept compression, got the cookies, got everything but cloudflare says no no
abstract encoded logic beatin me, damn we need proof of work or lightning satoshi security walls -
you getting a rate limit error or some other error code?
-
-
about 1.3 million bot requests in the last 24 hours.. there are ways around it, but would prefer to figure out why your getting blocked/rate limited vs adding yet another custom header for bypassing the rules
-
-
I use curl and get the bot block not the rate limit.
I guess theres some above my knowledge deeper web tech/javascript/fingerprinting sorcery going on which doesn't work with curl and therefore it blocks.
There is a curl version where it mimics a real browser which might work. Maybe I will test. -
How to Send HTTP Headers With cURL
This guide covers various aspects of sending and receiving HTTP headers using cURL. The content discloses tips for use cases and discusses troubleshooting cURL header issues.
-
yea I have added the headers, follow the redirects and everything
Probably best to deploy my own local xchain and to there the requests. -
xchain explorer codebase is closed source and owned by dankest, llc ... so you wont be getting access to run your own local xchain explorer.... BUT... if you take the blood oath pinky swear to not abuse the xchain API ... i'll add a custom header for you to bypass the bot blocking / rate limiting 🙂

Hello I am having 2 issues with btc I sent to cashapp. I sent some months ago and it hasn't gone through due to not enough fee.
The other I sent about 20 min ago and I'm afraid it also got stuck. I sent 5k to cashapp with a $5 fee was that not enough?
If not is there any way I can push it through? -
-
Yeah I checked and I'm not past my limits. Says I have 8k left
-
Is there a % fee that someone could share that they abide by?
-
-
Entirely dependant on number of inputs. $5 is sort of a meaningless number without knowing the size of the txn itself.
-
Enter your transaction hash on Mempool.space and it will tell you your effective fee rate… it could be that your previous transaction didn’t pay enough fees and your current transaction is a child of your previous transaction….

I can see an open order on xchain selling an asset I would like to purchase for XCP. If I go to the exchange tab in freewallet and search for the asset in the XCP market, it doesn't show up. Any workarounds for this issue besides trying a different counterparty wallet?
-
instead of trying to click around the exchange tab - simply type the pair into the search bar in the upper right.
examples are as follows: "PEPECASH/XCP" or "XCP/PEPECASH" or "RAREPEPE/XCP" etc. -
Thanks, that worked.
- 20 July 2024 (14 messages)
-
When will xchain or counter party on desktop be working again?
-
It works fine now…. If you’re having problems, perhaps ask about the problems that you’re having….. but FreeWallet and xchain continue to work perfectly fine for myself and everyone else…. Best to assume you’re in the minority when things don’t work and not the majority.👍🏻
-
-
This was just now using high fee 🧐
-
the current suggested fee is 4 sats/vb...and you used 6 sats/vb... so indeed it was "high"... however you have OTHER transactions which are pending which have lower tx fees used... so that brings your "Effective fee rate" down... to 3.13
-
TLDR... all the wallet can do is calculate what the correct fee to use on your current transaction would be... it does not take into account all of your previous pending transactions, which could have underpaid on their fees, which would then in turn lower your effective fee rate
-
This is discussed in the FAQ
-
-
Thanks Jdog 😎 I know what i must do now.
-
-
-
You must have lucked out n chained most of your transactions together so not many utxos…. Or you’ve just been overpaying for big transactions for many years🤷🏻♂️😜
-
Glad u got it sorted bro 👍🏻

Question when I go to counter party and hit wallet it just shows a bunch of other wallets not like it used to when the password block would come up. Are we able to use all these wallets the same way that we used to use the counterpart wallet?
-
There used to be counterwallet but the current core devs don’t feel like fixing it…. Most the other wallets don’t work anymore… freewallet.io and rpw.wtf should still work fine and yes, the 12-word passphrase from counterwallet should work on both wallets still
-
Dogewallet, which is a fork of counterwallet continues to work perfectly fine with all of the same updates that counterparty has …. So counterwallet could work with a couple minor tweaks, but it is not a priority for the current core developers to get it fixed for the community to use again🤷🏻♂️

Tokenscan.io vs xchain.io…. In theory should be the same… tokens associated with projects with the green banner have their nft image set/driven by the project…. Idea being the approved project artwork doesn’t change… so a token can’t get their artwork approved “like rarepepe” then have the image changed to something else…. I’ll dig into this difference… n will report back… after muh breakfast burrito👍🏻
-
-
-
Xchain does not show stamps…. Tokenscan.io does
-
-
You can also hide/show numerics on tokenscan.io if you want by clicking this menu item… many people don’t like seeing a whole bunch of random numerics spammed when they’re looking for their specific named asset transaction…. so I added the ability to hide numerics in the explorer just like you can hide numerics in FreeWallet
-
-
Looks like it is an issue with the asset_id (database record id) being wrong... i'll blow away all the NFTs and re-parse them in today... then do some verifications... green banners will disappear for a lil while on tokenscan
-
Weird, xchain showed stamps for day or two last couple days...
-
xchain has not shown stamps bro... trust me.. I haven't updated that codebase to show numerics... you were looking at tokenscan.io
-
the sites are essentially identical except for the logo and a few tweaks... so, easy to get confused.
-
but I greatly appreciate you pointing out anything on tokenscan that looks funky or off... as there is some slight differences between xchain and tokenscan related to NFTs (used to download a huge multi-meg file that mapped asset to NFT image... now I just throw the project info in the asset json)
-
MB 🙏
-
tokenscan.io displaying of NFTs should now be fixed... if you find anything that looks funky, LMK... but should be good now 🙂

-
I want to sell my wallet with all the assets in it, what is the best way to transfer ownership of the wallet? Is providing the passphrase & private key good enough? Thank you
-
Sweep… a single tx can move all asset balances and asset ownership…. Selling the wallet passphrase is no good cuz you’ll still know the 12-words…. Best to sweep stuff to the new owner’s address after you get payment
-
Yes thank you ser 👍
