I think it had asked you to dm, so 99% likely a scammer
-
Oh i didnt see it ... Full of jdog scammers everywere
-
Hey man. Can this version load trust wallet private keys?
-
Yes, this is an error coming directly from the counterparty API. This error started appearing in the latest releases of counterparty after last weeks release of counterparty.
In previous releases of counterparty, you were allowed to specify the amount you wanted to mint in a fair mint …. Now it seems that logic has been changed so that in “free” fair mints, you are no longer allowed to specify the quantity that you want to mint, and instead the maximum amount you’re allowed to mint is automatically minted when u enter a quantity of 0.
There is another type of fair mint where a user is charged a fee for minting, and if you are minting on this type of a fair mint, then you are allowed to specify a quantity.
To me, it makes no sense to limit users from entering a quantity that they want to mint in the wallet, but the core devs have changed counterparty so that fair mints behave differently based off of whether or not it is a “free fair mint mint” or a “fair mint with a fee”
I know the error messages is confusing, but if you just enter a quantity of zero and click mint, it will meant the token.
TLDR, this is an issue in the counterparty core releases, and if you get this error message, just set the quantity to zero and click the mint button. -
That was not me, that was a scammer, pretending to be me, who joined the channel and told the user to DM them directly.
I am the owner of this channel and so I will never be banned 🤷🏻♂️ -
-
Yes, unfortunately, they trade on my good reputation and 10+ years of being in the community and supporting people, and leverage that good reputation to try to scam people out of funds.
It is highly frustrating, but unfortunately, there is not much that can be done to prevent it other than having bots to detect and limit new users and spam me behavior, and sticking to the rule that I will never DM a person first, and to advise that ppl always verify they are chatting with me (the real J-Dog) at @jdogresorg 👍🏻 -
Hey that’s my dispenser lol
I closed those ones and can’t remember what’s on there now
lol -
This is what is in that dispenser now

Wa someone having issues with that one ?
-
It looks like all the tokens are still in the dispenser… I bought one from your dispenser last week and had no problem… please have someone buy from your dispenser and if the transaction is not showing up, then I can look into it, but I’ve already spent enough funds today showing that FreeWallet and token scan seemed to work fine.
-
Up until recently, there was an issue on counterparty that prevented the dispensing of tokens from addresses where there was an open dispenser, but where other dispensers had previously been used and closed. According to the core developers, that issue should be resolved now and activated
-
-
Here’s the dispenser that just activated and dispense the token perfectly fine…. And if you look at that address that dispenser had a previously closed dispenser on it from two years ago as well…. So I believe dispensers are working perfectly fine…. If you find that is not the case, then please provide a link here with relevant information showing otherwise👍🏻

ah seeing this now
-
Yes… the latest version works on counterparty 2.0👍🏻
-
-
Does it automatically switch to the classic api when it detects a classic node or would I have to make the API request myself?
-
-
-
No FreeWallet just stays on counterparty 2.0…. There is currently no way to use the classic ledger unless you really seek it out… which I would not suggest doing at this time.
-
Right now classic ledger exists primarily to point out that there’s a huge difference in how counterparty was run the past 10 years as a community driven project, versus how it is being run now as a VC funded for profit company driven by a few developers, deciding what is best for counterparty.
Short term, this is just a noisy drama … and I advise everyone stay on the current version of FreeWallet, which uses counterparty 2.0…. Longer term I believe people will want to use counterparty classic as all of the assets have the exact same provenance as counterparty 2.0, except in my opinion, have more of a pure OG/Community feel.
Right now, while there is no replay protection on either version of counterparty, it is sketchy to use counterparty classic, and so I advise against it.
I can say for sure that the classic version is not going away, and I’m pretty confident that in a couple years, there will be a good number of people that will want to collect counterparty classic tokens versus counterparty 2.0 tokens. -
-
-
Right now, while neither platform has replay protection. There is no way…. Any action you take on one ledger affects the other ledger… so for the time being the two platforms are still linked. At some point in the future, one of the platforms will add replay protection., and from that point on the two ledgers will be entirely separate, and then you would be able to sell or move tokens on one ledger and not have it affect the other ledger.
However, as I’ve said right now, there is no replay protection for either platform, so the two platforms are currently tied together, and what you do on counterparty 2.0 affects the classic ledger and vice versa. -
This is why I advise users to just keep using the counterparty 2.0 ledger until one of the platforms ads replay protection.
-
Counterparty classic is not adding replay protection at this time, in order to give the counterparty core devs additional time to make the right decision and add back the dispenser functionality that has been lost.
I don’t think they plan to do that, but I don’t feel it makes any sense right now to add replay protection on classic, as once that is done, it very clearly separates the platforms and the ledger is forever forked. -
if counterparty 2.0 is truly interested in having a unified ledger and having everyone just use counterparty 2.0, I feel it is most appropriate to give them plenty of opportunity to do the right thing and add the dispenser origin functionality back, before the ledgers are permanently forked, as once that happens, there is no going back.
-
-
-
Your questions are not retarded… and they are very good questions.
Your understanding is correct , as soon as replay protection is added, the balances are doubled on the other chain..
So in your example, yes you would have 50 tokens on counterparty 2.0 , and 50 tokens on counterparty classic, and you would be able to sell and move them separately. -
yes, if you wanted to do that… however I feel that there will be collectors that will want both versions… a version on counterparty 2.0 where they can use the new features…. As well as collectors who will want to buy the more OG tokens on the counterparty classic.
-
-
>> There is no way…. Any action you take on one ledger affects the other ledger
Curious how binding to UTXOs are treated on classic ledger. Would this not represent an action that can't be replayed on the classic ledger and you therefore cause the supply to diverge? -
-
Bind asset to UTXO --> Send UTXO to burn address
-
Would that essentially remove all of them from the 2.0 ledger regardless of holders?
-
-
They would still exist on the ledger, though they would be eternally inaccessible.
-
Even those held by other wallets?
-
well you can only send assets you hold to a burn address
-
I was just commenting on ledger divergence
-
If you are planning to destroy all assets that you created on 2.0, you would have to ask the holders to send their supply back to you. Or ask them to destroy their holdings…
-
-
If it is part of a project, no
-
You could do that unless you subscribe to the notion that "the token is the art"
-
Well fuk
-
Projects are off-chain. That's just what an explorer shows you.
-
bro just chill out lol
-
True, but, the project will still show the art
-
Again, what an explorer shows you isn't necessarily what is attached to the actual token or referenced onchain.
-
?
I'm trying to grok how to not feel like all our artwork got diluted.
Not mine specifically because honestly it pales in comparison to most. -
You missed the part where there is no fork and counterparty classic is there if ever needed. Onward
-
There clearly is a ledger fork. Go check the holder count of MINTS on each of the 2 tokenscan explorers. 2.0 lists over 1300 holders (derived through fair mints) while Classic shows 0 holders as it has no awareness of fairmints.
-
No one can use classic except computer scientists
-
I agree lol
-
Hey! Nice!
-
No one should pin their hopes on classic ledger and burn all their assets on 2.0.
-
-
-
Or burn that bridge when we get to it 😁
-
-
Lol I was just making a play on words with Arvik's affinity for burning things
-
-
-
-
Correct certain actions that you take that are only available on counterparty 2.0, will only show up on counterparty 2.0…. Same with classic certain actions that only are valid on classic like opening dispensers on an origin address will not be seen as valid on counterparty 2.0..
So if you do anything with fair mint or UTXO binding which are only supported on counterparty 2.0 , then those actions will not be seen as valid on classic.
You see how complex it can get when ledgers diverge?🤷🏻♂️
The best action was for the counterparty core developers to simply add back the lost functionality of origin dispensers and get an everybody to move forward on unified ledger …. But the longer that the ledgers continue to diverge from one another, the more of a headache it becomes🤷🏻♂️
As I said right now, I’m not putting protection on classic to give the developers some more opportunity to do the right thing and bring everybody back under a unified ledger …. But at some point, the trigger will be pulled on replay protection, and then there’s no going back to unified ledger.🤷🏻♂️
And you gotta ask yourself will everybody really ignore classic? Or will there be some die hard people who wanna collect a rare Pepe or other highly valued cards and feel that the classic version of it is more authentic than the counterparty 2.0 version….. Everyone can make their own decision, but it is silly to think that no one will want to have tokens on classic…. You can thank me in a couple years for doubling your bags.🤷🏻♂️ -
On this we can agree… classic is a version of counterparty which was community based vs what it is now, and I advise no one to create transactions on classic until replay protection is added by one of the versions.
-
once replay protection is added though, and it is clear that the ledger and platforms are entirely separated from one another, it will be much easier to transact only on classic and tools will be provided to do so easily….
As I said, I’m not enacting replay protection on classic at this time to give the core developers some final time to reevaluate the situation and try to get all of the diehards back on their page with some simple restoration of broken functionality…
But just like I said, when I announced support for both ledgers…. The window of opportunity for compromise is rapidly closing, and at some point, it is in the best interest of the classic community to just add replay protection and allow the users who truly believe in classic to continue to transact on it without being affected by any of the changes or actions taken on the counterparty 2.0 ledger. -
-
Not currently, as fednode was broken as soon as Adam took over control of counterparty repos…. He broke the ability to install Fednode by renaming counterparty-lib repo to counterparty-core.
But getting the fed no working again is pretty simple , as it just requires changing some URLs to pull from the counterparty classic repos.
Javier will be working on getting fednode working on Monday, so anybody who wants to run a counterparty classic node should be able to do so after that.
Also registered counterpartyclassic.io to host the website, which will include documentation on how to run a counterparty classic fednode, as well as links to explorers and wallets, which support counterparty classic.
Every action has an equal and inverse reaction…. Removing FreeWallet and tokenscan from the counterparty.io website, simply created a need for a counterpartyclassic.io website to be created 🤷🏻♂️
It’s truly unfortunate that the current core developers chose to remove this functionality and dig their heels in, as I would’ve thought they would’ve taken a larger picture viewpoint and seen how easily it would be for counterparty to fork into alternate versions based on ideology, and simply added back the lost functionality to get everybody back on the same page.
But they’ve chosen to dig their heels in and let the ledger fork continue on longer and longer …. Thereby ensuring that counterparty classic becomes a real thing with short-term demand for the lost functionality and value long-term for all counterparty holders🤷🏻♂️ -
Now I’m off to watch TikTok videos with my son before bed… hope everyone has a good night😊👍🏻

Glad you asked these questions, trying to wrap my head around what's going on and way behind. Helpful to have this stuff addressed.

I'm just now beginning to realize how weird it will be with two versions of xcp... 🤯

Im a small creator... i dont code and im not qualified to argue about code.
People like me rely on the "smarts" to do whats in our collective best interest. When things break (historically) i've always just known it would get fixed. Even if it took a min... my attitude (and @jdogresorg can attest) i cant build it so i dont complain.
However things get broken/removed/replaced and there isnt much explanation as to how this benefits people like me. Which is fine... im an end user and nobody owes me anything. ALSO if i just go do other shit its not like the world ends.
But im not blind either... i see the writing on the wall
perhaps im translating wrong so i have reserved myself to a wait and see approach (thus me leaving the chats). I still have some pretty raw feelings after the last fork or spoon or ladle or whatever it was that ended up happening. Despite the best intentions of everyone the damage done by that was still effecting my ability to earn a living up until a month and a half ago.
Also im far from "well off"... so its not like "who stained the rug" and i can spend 8 months arguing about whos fault it is. Someone dumped lit kerosene on the car i use to go to work... i just need the fire out
so im gonna stay in the chats that are relevant to my work, and stay out the way
I cant stop the drug dealers from having shootouts but i can get my kids out of the park so they dont get hit in the crossfire
hopefully when its over CP is still something i recognize and wish to continue building on
hope this helps clarify my position -
I’m right there with you !! Well said communication is a lovely thing !!

So I got someone to dispense from my fake apecash dispenser hasn’t gone. Yet
And I just tried to do another json for future goat
It doesn’t show ? -
I only see one issuance for Futuregoat 18 days ago using ipfs (bleh)….. maybe try with a higher tx fee… I see txs happening, but def way lower than normal.
Currently, the only ledger you can interact with and the only version of counterparty that you can use is counterparty 2.0…. So if you’re having issues, I imagine you should probably bring them up with the current counterparty core developers…. And provide relevant screenshots and transaction hashes to show that you are indeed having issues.🤷🏻♂️ -
This why nobody is doing shit on CP now
-
??
-
wen moon
-
srsly when 1k xcp
-
Okay cool ya I just did it with the fee it asked for
But dang it that’s like 4 issueances that didn’t work
Then two dis work stinker
That first issueance days ago was while I was out and about the name hit me lol
So I minted it in rare pepe wallet
It’s easy in there but the only place you can view it is in that wallet or rare pepe wtf and that wasn’t. The art I wanted lol
So k
I guess I try with higher fees or something
And someone did send to my dispenser for fake ape cash and it did not give me the money or dispense
I’ll see if he has a trans hash ?! -
Blockstream Block Explorer
Blockstream Explorer is an open source block explorer providing detailed blockchain data across Bitcoin, Testnet, and Liquid. Supports Tor and tracking-free.
-
Could I have been silenced or what ever they call it lol
Like cp can they put a block on certain addys ? I mean I’m a weee poofter but I was trolling lol literally haha 😂 -
That doesn’t look like a counter party transaction to me as it doesn’t include any multi data or an app return…. It just looks like a normal BTC send to your address… and as your address doesn’t have any dispensers set up on it, the dispensers are being triggered.
-
no, there’s nobody censoring you on a protocol level… I still have yet to see you provide a transaction which appears to be a counterparty transaction and include screenshots of what is happening when the transaction is generated.
I have bought from multiple dispensers this week and have done normal sins and mints this week with no problems .
If you continue to say you have problems, please provide screenshots of the wallet that you are using and the transaction that is being created… as those are the only ways that issues can be tracked down.
Also, since everything currently runs on counterparty 2.0, it would probably be best to ask in the counterparty 2.0 channel about any issues you are having with counterparty 2.0👍🏻 -
-
Here is a video of me doing sends in the wallet and mint from FreeWallet, which all have used the suggested high fee and been completed normally and are visible on tokenscan.io…. I’m not sure why you continue to have issues, but the links you’re providing don’t appear to be counterparty transactions.
-
Ah ha !! I’m on 9.36 I’m downloading 2.0 now probably the issue lol
Doh
But so you know my wallet when I asked an hour ago if it was the most current one it said yes I should have known that but im sure that will fix any goofiness - 03 November 2024 (13 messages)

Updated the Freewallet Desktop User Manual to 2.0.1
- revised introductory material to show 2.0.1
- revised fairmint tutorial to signify to mint "0" amount for free fairmints
- mentioned and warned users when downgrading versions to only use Freewallet Classic at their own risk
- added how 2.0.1 shows FW version and XCP protocol API version when clicking "About Freewallet"
- added new section titled "What is a Counterparty API Error" urging users to report Counterparty API errors to the XCP Github
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/troubleshooting-issues/what-is-a-counterparty-api-error -
but curious to see how this error arose? was it from trying to buy from a dispenser that is closed? and this one happened to have BEACHBOBO and DANKMEMECASH on it?
-
This error is the main issue that caused the fork… in counterparty 10.X you were supposed to be able to create a dispense on an address with an open dispenser…. You were also supposed to be able to just do a normal BTC Send and have that BTC send automatically converted to a new dispense transaction.
After hearing for a few days, that users were having issues with doing BTC sends and dispensers not being triggered I dug into the issue a bit deeper. In the process of me, updating FreeWallet to no longer trust the BTC send and instead to try and detect if a dispenser was open on an address and automatically in FreeWallet convert the BTC send to a dispense, I discovered this issue.
The issue is that dispenses only worked on addresses that had one dispenser open and had no other history of dispensers on an address …. If an address had any history of closed dispensers on the address, then the dispense transaction refused to be generated and error messages like this were thrown.
I am the one who dug into this issue and found that counterparty was not working as it was promised in a reverse compatible way, and reported the issue to the counterparty core developers.
They did recognize that this was indeed an issue and put out a release which fixed the issue , however, it did not immediately fix the issue and instead the release activated the fix 2 weeks later (2 days ago)…. Which means that anyone who used dispensers in the past three weeks since counterparty 2.0 activated in block 866000, has had issues with their dispense not working, unless they happen to be in the situation where they were using a new address with only one dispenser open on that address.
You can verify what I am saying is true by simply looking at this GitHub issue .
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/2571
This is one of the many issues I reported over the last few weeks to the counterparty core developers…. But this issue is the largest one, which essentially broke the ability for anyone to use a dispenser except in that one case where there was one dispenser set up on an address that had never been used before….. and this issue is the one that caused the ledgers to actually fork and continue to diverge for 3+ weeks until the issue was resolved.Nonsense errors when trying to create `dispense` transaction for an open dispenser · Issue #2571 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-coreSince dispensers have been changed to require a dispense message to trigger a dispense instead of a normal BTC send, the feature of automatically detecting a BTC send to an address with an open dis...

I hope this answers your question, and gives you a bit more insight into the reality of what happened with the failed counterparty 2.0 launch, how it was not tested properly, how users lost funds trying to use dispensers, and how the ledger differences continued on for three weeks.
This issue, the loss of ‘origin’ dispenser functionality, the loss of ability to use memos in MPMA sends, and the general attitude of the core developers in response to these issues, solidified my decision to embrace both versions of the ledger.
Here is a link to the GitHub issue regarding MPMA and not being able to send multiple memos, where I respectfully report the issue, which is ignored. Then I am told that I am wrong, and that counterparty never had the ability to use multiple memos in a send, and when I pointed out an MPMA send which had 67 different memos on it, to prove that indeed functionality was lost on MPMA sends, I was told it was my fault for not finding these issues for the counterparty core developers months ago. My further comments pointing out that better testing should have been done before release were then marked as “abuse” (you can view the comments if your signed into a github account)
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/2568

Awesome work thank you very much as always! ❤️

Why are there fairminters highlighted in yellow at tokenscan? For example this one:
https://tokenscan.io/asset/MINTMASTER -
-
Yellow indicates that the fair mint is close to minting out…. Green equals good to mint…. Yellow equals, hurry up and mint before the mint comes to an end…. Red equals mint is no longer possible
-
Once a mint reaches 70% of the token supply being minted, then the line turns yellow to indicate that the mint is nearing completion
-
alright thank you
-
Somehow if there are many cp tx/events in the same block then tokenscan has problems showing them. For example if you look now in the tab "issuances" there are a lot in block 868717 and if you use the paging function and page through it, it just skips a lot and the next page goes on with block 868716. If you increase the items per page you see the ones that were skipped though after increasing item count per page the paging function again skips a lot of block 868717.

I’ve had a FreeWallet for a while. I have used it only to hold BTC. Now I would like to send it to an exchange to sell some of it but can’t seem to figure that out. Can anybody help me?

It’s saying the address I’m sending to is not valid. It’s to my Gemini account which is valid. Are there only specific exchanges that accept legacy and Segwit BTC addresses?

Check for spaces before and after address

make sure you are using the latest version of Freewallet Desktop (2.0.1)
- my guess is you are trying to send from an older version of Freewallet mobile? I am not sure if FW mobile supports sending to newer addresses like Wrapped Segwit addresses (addresses that start with "3")

I’m using free Wallet mobile

Make sure you navigate to the settings, tab and click the reset to default button… this will ensure that you are using the correct servers to generate a transaction
-
Probably related to rate limiting you if you’re making a bunch of requests… wait a couple minutes and try again…. Or change your IP address and try again….. the rate limiting only lasts for 60 seconds
-
-
You’re allowed 60 API request per minute…. And 120 request per minute on the website… and this excludes images and other content…. So I feel like 120 request to get data per minute is more than enough for users who are using the site in a responsible way

Is freewallet Counterparty Classic or Counterparty 2.0?
-
FreeWallet is counterparty 2.0….. FreeWallet classic is counterparty classic…. Right now while there is no replay protection, I’m uncomfortable, directing users to use counterparty classic…. tho if the counterparty 2.0 devs don’t add replay protection soon, I probably will, and from that point forward, the ledgers will be permanently separated, and actions done on one ledger will not affect the other
-
I have no intention of misleading anyone or making them use a version that they don’t intend to use, and so FreeWallet remains on counterparty 2.0.
-
Eventually when things calm down there should be no reason for the “classic” Verizon right. That’s the hope eh ?!
-
Right on. I'm setting my girlfriend up with a Bitcoin wallet for the first time. Going with freewallet because it shows both the passphrases and private keys. There are not that many wallets that do this.
-
counterparty, classic and free wallet classic will continue to exist and users who want to use them will be free to seek out a wallet to do so…. However, FreeWallet will stay on counterparty 2.0, as that is what most users would expect FreeWallet to continue operating on.
-
Incorrect. There will now be a classic version and a 2.0 version, with separate ledgers, and users will need to choose which one they want to interact with.
It is unfortunate that we have of this ledger fork as it can be very confusing to users, but this is what happens when you rush, software development and don’t properly test things before releasing them. -
Is rare pepe wallet going to be on counterparty 2.0 when it relaunches?
-
Yes, it is clear. Joe Looney is embracing counterparty 2.0…. Though I’m not sure if the rare Pepe wallet will ever re-launch…. You’d have to talk to Joe Looney about that.
-
Think of counterparty 2.0 and counterparty classic the same way you think of Ethereum and Ethereum classic… two entirely separate block chains that just have a shared beginning up until the point of the fork
-
Do you know Joe Looney's handle I remember it being something like wild e coyote?
-
His telegram handle is @hodlencoinfield
-
Just opened freewallet and see a new update to 2.0 or whatever. What is going on with fork? So if I have xcp in freewallet what happens ? Is there a link explaining what is going on and what it means? What about others coins like bitcrystals , gemz or even BTC in freewallet? What happeneds to those ?

When I go on tokenscan, to me both sides look the same. Makes me wonder if a tx gets pushed to both sides of the fork. Or if people are just using existing Counterparty wallets and tools that makes the choice for them. As a layman, I'm not seeing differences between classic and 2.0. what are the feature sets that differentiate the two?
-
Let me try to give a TLDR:
1. all major nodes with active users run 2.0
2. There’s a bunch of new features in 2.0, but the only meaningful difference in _existing_ features is the origin attribute of dispensers was removed in 2.0, which solves the problem of accidental dispenses
I think people are using the term ‘fork’ ad nauseam, which is actually causing more confusion than needed -
(Edited for clarity)
-
There actually is a ledger fork, and now two versions of counterparty exist. Currently, both versions of counterparty are linked and any transactions that take place on one ledger affect the other ledger.
Once replay protection is added to one of the versions of counterparty, then the versions will be unlinked and will be two entirely separate platforms.
Tokens and token balances exist on both platform so if you held SCP on counterparty 2.0 you also hold the XCP on counterparty classic. Same goes for all asset balances….. essentially everything doubles, there are 300 rare Pepes on counterparty 2.0 and 300 rare Pepes on counterparty classic. -
Right now, FreeWallet uses counterparty 2.0… but since replay protection has not been added to the new version of software (counterparty 2.0), transactions that happen on counterparty 2.0 effect counterparty classic and vice versa.
-
-
So there is no risk of losing anything in freewallet?
-
There’s information on the fork linked on tokenscan.io. That explains how the fort came to pass.
Right now it’s still a bit confusing since both platforms are still linked, since neither have replay protection added. -
If you keep using counterparty 2.0 you’re at no risk of losing anything
-
The only differences between counterparty 2.0 and counterparty classic right now are how the dispensers operate and the new features that have been added to counterparty 2.0
-
Do I need to update to latest freewallet?
-
Yeah, just stay on the latest version of FreeWallet, and you’ll stay on the latest version of counterparty.. which is counterparty 2.0.
Only users who specifically want to use counterparty classic should do so , the default platform will continue to be counterparty 2.0 when using FreeWallet. -
There’s more differences than just the origin dispenser functionality…. On counterparty 2.0 dispensers only trigger with the new dispense function and you can no longer just send BTC to a dispenser.
Also, MPMA sends are significantly more expensive because in counterparty 2.0 P2SH encoding was disabled which means that MPMA sends use multisig encoding which makes them much more expensive.
In addition, MPMA sends lost the ability to send multiple memos.
But you are correct in that counterparty 2.0 has some new features -
😡
-
When replay is added what block will it start at?
-
How can I send xcp? I get api error in freewallet
-
What should api host be?
-
FYI tokenscan lags 100 blocks behind today
-
Ok but why can’t I send xcp?
-
We haven’t chosen the block yet, but will publicize it when we do
-
Thanks for the heads up... will look into this and get it resolved... also will restore the alert system that notifies me via text when tokenscan lags behind... I disabled it a few weeks ago during all the Counterparty 2.0 launch downtime
-
On simple send- I try to send XCP but get Counterparty API communication error! Is red letters- anyone know how I can fix it?
-
use the most recent version of Freewallet Desktop 2.0.1 and make sure to use the "Reset to Defaults" for your server settings - let me know if this helps
-
Ok i did that and turned off vpn and seemed to work. Thanks
-
Could you post a screenshot of your api server settings? (Can’t update my Freewallet right now but would like to check)
-
This should be fixed now... was a mysql master data syncing to slave webservers issue 🙂

Thanks 🙏

hello there :)
does anybody already get the 'limits reached' error message when trying send assets from FW (v2.0.1) ? -
I’ve got an asset I made right after and right before
In the “classic” you can’t find the one after 866,000
I think that’s the only difference right now?! That I can see -
Again so well put together!!

-
Got to love Manuel he’s so great
-
Yes… I believe that is related to a 3rd party api limiting how many txs u can broadcast via their service…. If you could please create an issue for this at github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/issues then I’ll rework the tx broadcasting in the next releaseIssues · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop

can do as many fairmints in a block as you want... tho your limit to chain txs is around 15... so prolly max out at around there... but if your using multiple utxos, could prolly do much more
-
interesting! even for the same mint token? for example i could send out 15 (or so) individual mints for FAIRSOUND (1 max mint) and get 15 on that single block? —- that one is closed, just using it as an example for 1 max mint per
-
interesting - so would this be the error message for limits? is that a tokenscan api thing?
-
😿 Sorry, I am not allowed to talk to strangers.
-
Nope, there are no limits on using the CP API in freewallet... that message is coming directly from chain.so I believe... (you can click logo, debug button, network tab, and verify exactly what request is returning that "limit reached" message.... Seems more ppl getting this (prolly related to mints and spamming txs faster than ppl have in the past)... will work to get this resolved shortly
-
AFAIK You can do as many fair mints as the network allows you to in the same block... even for same item... I minted like 3-4 WALLETWARS tokens one right after another, and seemed to have no issues
-
Hello all 👋
I still have thé limits reached error message .
But from horizon wallet, this issue does not happen 🤔 -
Correct, horizon relays their broadcast transactions directly to Bitcoind and does not use a third-party service to broadcast transactions.
As I said, yesterday, I will be making updates to FreeWallet to stop using third-party broadcasting services.
Please be patient and stop making horizon versus FreeWallet comparisons, as we could very easily go over a long laundry list of functionality that is in FreeWallet that is not in horizon.
It is best to bring up issues that you are having in freeWallet, document them as you have on GitHub, and then allow developers a chance to fix the issue and put out a release.
If you want to use Horizon, you’re more than welcome to, but I feel that comparisons between the two is inappropriate. -

Aarrrrrggg
JSON file api error can’t broad cast description change ?! Any ideas -
2.0.1 installed
-
Debug shut cashe off and refreshed history and balances
I changed out of the wallet and came back in
Maybe need to close it too ? Or is that old grandpa style repairs lol 😂 -
Okay so I tried to issue on FreeWallet some kind of API error
?!
So I tried on horizon wallet same addy
It went through ?!
Very shitty system other than it went through it was acting like I was issuing the token for the first time ?!
We will see I guess.
Not sure what the api deal is ? -
prolly an issue with broadcasting via 3rd party API instead of directly through bitcoind... same exact issue as linked above... will dig into it tomorrow n get it resolved.
-
In the future, if your having an issue with freewallet, pls post it here and include details like a screenshot of your debug console to help track down the issue

-
Classic Dispensers no trigger with new counterparty update… Adam break thing bad…. Javier fix thing good…. Two sleepy times then sunrise and dispenser work good🤷🏻♂️🤣
-
more of the caveman explanation…. But you get the point.👍🏻😜
-
I’ll be working on FreeWallet today to hide some of those annoying error messages that keep coming from counterparty core, to update token scans so that it’s BTC relay and sending of transactions functionality works as it should without the need to rely on third-party API to broadcast transactions, then we’ll work on some additional updates to FreeWallet and put out a release today hopefully👍🏻
-
hey guys- what do I fill in here if I want to close my dispenser? I just want the coin revert back to me and not a make a mistake
-
I have a screen shot but it wont let me post in here
-
fixed it... so you should be able to post pics here now 🙂
-
I believe that you "should" be able to switch to the "origin" address that opened a dispenser and still close it in freewallet by pasting the tx hash for the dispenser into the "Close Dispenser" form in FreeWallet.... that "should" close the dispenser and return any escrowed tokens in the dispenser to your origin address.... If that doesn't work, then you'll have to switch to the dispenser address, then do 1 tx to close the dispenser (then any escrowed funds will be credited to the dispenser address), then do another tx to move any tokens from that dispenser address back to your "main" address.. then send any BTC from your dispenser address back to your "main" address
-
-
I've been told that "closing dispensers from origin should continue to work in counterparty 2.0"... but have not verified personally... so unfortunately, you might have to do the 3tx to close dispenser from dispenser address and send back to your "main" address method which requires 3 tx
-
just click the "close dispenser" button and it should work
-
thx for posting the screenshot... the form should be filling out the tx hash into that tx hash field... i'll get that fixed in the upcoming release (later today prolly)
-
OK I dont have to fill anything in
-
?
-
just wanted to make sure
-
ty for the quick reply
-
but you SHOULD be able to close the dispenser by clicking the close button and then "close dispenser".... or by going "main menu->close dispenser"
-
correct, you shouldn't have to fill out anything else to close the dispenser
-
if you want to close dispense from 'origin' address, then you can switch to the origin address and then go mainmenu->close dispenser and paste in the tx hash of the dispenser you want to close
-
if you just want to close how you are, by switching to dispener address and clicking close button and then close dispenser, that should work too
-
ok and it will send me back the coins to my Freewallet, great, thank you for this info. Sorry I replied slow, but got into a call and realized I couldn
-
t focus on both conversations.
-
No worries! LMK if you have any issues 🙂
-
-
FYI... this issue should be fixed... main reason for the issue is we were using the 3rd party APIs was because the primary way to broadcast transactions via the tokenscan.io /api/send_tx API was failing.... I made some updates to get it working again, so 99% of the time broadcasts should go directly through tokenscan / bitcoind... and then on the occasional fail, we use the 3rd party relay services.

Hello 👋
I can’t open FreeWallet any ideas ? -
maybe you got a corrupted file or something... open task manager, make sure that you kill off any lingering "FreeWallet" processes... then try to open again... if that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall
-
Your wallet data is stored in a different location than the installation files, so you should be able to uninstall and re-install n not worry about your wallet gettting lost (tho you should ALWAYS have your 12-word passphase written down somewhere) 🙂
-
I do thankfully in several spots lol

Hi, I just tried buying some mints/xcp on the dex in freewallet. How long does it take for the order to go through? It has been an hour and 8 confirmations
-
tx hash? orders are automatically matched by system as soon as tx is mined... could be the order matched with someone before your order got in
-
af4ff09e91defd637f769a747fb56cdc699fb1e0c9b397218edfa03467328d4c
-
There is a sell order with 99.9999 xcp worth of Mints and I bought about a quarter of that. Tried buying a few days a go but did not go through for some reason and cancelled my buy order. Now tried again (first time buying on Dex(
-
yup your order is open... the system just hasn't matched it to any other orders yet... once someone places a matching order, it should automatically match your order
-
Ah someone has to match my order? It is not automatically matched? If I buy the whole lot for the same price would it get matched automatically?
-
hate to do it to ya... but not really a freewallet problem.. best to take it to the "Counterparty 2.0" guys and ask why the orders are not matching, etc.... usually exact prices match.. but sometimes need to do 1-2 satoshis over the sell price in order for things to match
-
FreeWallet worked fine to place the order... the question about order matching is prolly better asked direct to the CP 2.0 devs at @counterpartygeneral
-
Oh really... thank you J-Dog I will try asking there
-
@jdogresorg setting up a friend with freewallet…
When attempting to open it gets a prompt of installing Rosetta.
I’ve never encountered this issue before.
What should I do. -
If you need to install Rosetta on your Mac - Apple Support
Rosetta 2 enables a Mac with Apple silicon to use apps built for a Mac with an Intel processor.
-
the Mac version of FreeWallet is built for intel chips (to offer maximum backwards compatability with older macs)... the Rosetta software is just something installed by apple that allows you to run the app that was made for Intel chips on your Macs Apple silicon processor
-
install rosetta like it asks... then when you get told the app is unable to load cuz of unknown developer... go to Settings->Privacy & Security... scroll down to near bottom of options and click "Open Anyway"
-
that will allow you to open the app... then after that, it should open and run fine 🙂
-
Okay, cool thanks. Just didn’t wanna have him down load it without verifying it’s okay! 👍
-
Better to ask WTF your installing than just installing random stuff.. so all good 🙂

hrm... ok, seems like that is a bug I will get fixed in the next release (this week)... You will have to find your dispenser on tokenscan.io and then copy/paste the tx hash into the transaction hash field... then it should work
-
It seems that updating the "Close Dispenser" form to allow the user to specify the tx hash (to allow closing from origin address) broke this functionality.... previously the tx hash was written to a hidden form field... and it seems that now that there is a field for tx hash, the tx hash which SHOULD auto-populate the field is not functioning... I'll create a github issue about this and get it fixed on Tuesday 🙂

Is free wallet same as computer version on tablet ?

Samsung so android ?
-
The iPhone and android version is way older and written in a tool kit that is no longer supported…. It got too much of a pain in the ass to try to continue to maintain separate code basis for mobile and desktop so I just focused on desktop.
-
All you can do with the mobile version is issue a token and send a token and it doesn’t have support for Segway addresses so beyond just viewing your wallet and sending BTC and assets from and into normal legacy addresses. It’s not very useful.
-
K I see
All good ! 😊 no not useful really -
Another question
What is ipfs image
I minted a couple assets on rare pepe wallet and joe answered my questions
Basically you can update json
But you’d have to do it Manually??
There must be a proprietary JSON hosting or some shit ??
Can you help me change description on at least one asset
Probably need to do it on like 4 assets
I just assumed I could change later in free wallet. Not the case -
best place to start would be the FW user manual... lots of answers to those questions there - or at least a place to start from:
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/exploring-balances-history-exchange-and-dispensers/exploring-token-information-and-enhanced-asset-information -
Of course should have known
!! Thanks -
Hopefully I’m smart enough. To figure it out
Feels a little Codey haha -
Personally, I’m not a fan of IPFS as it requires someone to keep a computer turned on with that image in order for it to be served out…. Joe is a big fan of IPFS…. But most of the IPFS links that I’ve ever clicked on or tried to view over the years have not worked.🤷🏻♂️
IMO hosting your own Chase and images on GitHub is probably the longest lasting way to ensure that your token links to a file with data. The data in that file is stored on a website, which is almost always going to be around, and allows you to edit the Jason on file to add additional information and images and such without having to pay an unchained transaction fee. Every time you wanna update some information related to the token. -

I have an iPhone at that I downloaded the FreeWallet to in 2023 and added BTC. Unfortunately, I didn’t do research and did not know that the app was not being updated. It was recommended that I download the FreeWallet to my desktop. Well, I have any issues transferring my BTC from my FreeWallet to the desktop? The ultimate goal is for me to send it to my trezor wallet. Any recommendations on how I can do this seamlessly?? Appreciate your advice.
-
Don't need to send. Just input your seed phrase on the desktop
-
I was going to start doing that but then what if my computer is crap lol
-
json is a text file, and if you can run a browser that views images, you can easily copy/paste images... I think even a windows 95 computer with a text editor and microsoft photo editor and running netscape can still create images and text files and upload to github... unless your running on a system from the 80s, you should be good to create your own images, json, and upload to github 🤷️️😜️️

freewallet is okay to use at the moment with no issues?
-
I have a dispenser open that I would like to close - is this okay to do?
-
Yes, you should be able to do that…. However, make sure you pull up the dispenser on tokenscan.io and copy the dispenser transaction, hash, and paste that into the close dispenser transaction hash form…
-
There is a minor issue that was identified earlier this week with that transaction hash field, not being auto populated, as it should be….. but if you go main menu close dispenser and then paste in the transaction, hash and click close dispenser, you should be good to go…. And I’ll be putting out a new version of FreeWallet this week, which addresses that issue.👍🏻

depending on how Jdog weighs in on it when he see's it... might be something to report to XCP protocol devs either way tho - basically include:
the tx hash (like the xcp io link i posted for your dispenser open tx above),
what function you were trying to do,
what version of FW you used and
the Debug data from Freewallet relating to that TX and it will help get fixed
heres the form for XCP issues:
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/new
and heres the Debug info page from the FW user manual:
https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/common-questions-using-freewallet-faq/how-do-i-use-the-debug-function-on-freewalletLinkGitHub is where people build software. More than 100 million people use GitHub to discover, fork, and contribute to over 420 million projects.

very strange - not seeing it in the block though too.... just another place you can check for XCP tx's on tokenscan: https://tokenscan.io/block/870343

Is it a COCOTRUMP dispenser for 59999 sats?
Could you share a screenshot of how you created the dispenser? (showing parameter values etc) -
yes it is

this screenshot?

Looks good to me…

Strange indeed

I see other dispenser creations going on just fine, so not sure if this is a freewallet or counterparty issue
@jdogresorg -
This screenshot is missing the fee estimation that I would expect to see on this form in the latest version of FreeWallet.
I do not believe this is a FreeWallet specific problem… Since the release of 10.4 I have heard of a few different people having the similar issue where they create dispensers using both FreeWallet and Horizon, and the dispenser never shows up, even though the transaction is confirmed.
I can look into this a bit more in the morning … however at this point, it doesn’t appear to be a FreeWallet specific issue. -
Is it safe to create new dispenser on main address? Or better move the asset+btc to new address and then create new dispenser from there?
-
It is safe to use your main address, as long as you only setup a single dispenser on that address, to avoid triggering multiple dispensers at the same time.
Most users preferred to setup dispensers on new/empty addresses in the past, using only a single transaction, but that is no longer possible in counterparty 2.0🤷🏻♂️ -

Perhaps I missed it but I can’t find anything related in GitHub issues

(FreeWallet or Counterparty)

What are you looking for on github? info on dispensers origin functionality being removed?
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/1670#issuecomment-2104988898
Or are you looking for complaints from people saying they are creating dispensers and they are not being actually created?
As I have said quite a few times, most users are not technical, and will not waste the time to create a github account and report issues on github, which unfortunately now is the only way that the core dev team accepts any type of feedback on issues... Most users will just try to use the platform as they have in the past, when things stop working as they have in the past, or users find features unstable and that they are losing BTC on transactions, they will simply move on and stop using the platform, and/or wait for the issue to get reported and fixed by someone more technical than them.
I have heard of at least 15-20 cases where dispensers were created in the past month, both in freewallet and in Horizon, where the tx was mined, but no dispenser showed up... @codythecampbell is one of the users who experienced this a few times.... However, it is not my job to track down issues in the counterparty core software, and report them to the core developers (and I get attacked when I do)... I believe it is the core developers jobs to TEST the software that they put out to make sure things work as expected before release.... and to find and fix fringe cases like this.
Unfortunately, IMO tracking down issues like this does not seem to be much of a priority to the core devs, and things are only looked into when a bunch of users report having issues.... Like was the case with the 10.4 release, where BTC sends were supposed to auto-convert to "dispense" transactions, however that was not the case, and even after many users complained for over a week about losing funds, nothing was done until I went and reported these issues via github.

Could you please share a screenshot of this create dispenser form complete with the fee estimation at the bottom of the form like this (notice the tx size and sats/vb next to the cancel/create buttons)
-
-
Also... random note: Notice the tx fees are a bit high right now... it perfectly demonstrates how using more txs to create a dispenser costs a bunch more... with origin functionality, things were 1 tx ($26)... however now that that functionality has been removed in counterparty core, it now costs 3 txs ($78) on a protocol level 🤷️️️️️️

So you created a dispenser, it was confirmed, then shows up as a send? Looks very similar to this issue which was created last month by the core devs, then closed without a fix…. Might be worth reporting your problem there and reopening the issue
