Hello Guys
Is it normal thats its taking ages for Freewallet to show the XCP I bought? TX was confirmed 3 times, but Freewallet still not showing my XCP.. History is showing the trancation. But when I want to Buy smt with the XCP it still says no Balance.. What am I missing? 🙈 -
I cant send a screenshot, as im restricted for some reasons... But its already 28m ago, and it says the full amount is still Remaining. How can this be? I bought XCP over the Exchange Tab in Freewallet

i often have to close and reopen freewallet to navigate the dex, but in doing so i often get rate limited and everything freezes. is there a way to avoid this so the servers dont think im attacking them? -
You can use block explorers instead to read through the DEX like Xchain, pepe.wtf , xcp.io or even other wallets like rarepepewallet.wtf but yes I think Freewallet might be doing alot of API calls when clicking through pages often... -
You can always manually type in pairs to the search bar as well (ex: BREITBARTPEP/PEPECASH) when you do decide to set up a dex order on a specific token pair

You can see the hex of the transaction here, which was stored on the Counterparty DB:

But there were no messages stored. And after further debug, no entries in the sends table either.
This is a bug in the protocol it seems, maybe is an invalid mpma send. There should at least be an insert of the invalid send (and its entry in the messages table).
The decoding of the hex for mpma transactions is not yet done in xcpdev, but it should be added and it would have been very helpful in a case like this. -

Hi, I don't seem to be able to export my Freewallet passphrase or private key to any other btc wallet, I want to see my SRC-20s and stamps etc. Would you know why and do you have any sutible suggestions of wallets that could work to export to and use for this purpose? -

stamped.ninja offers a wallet that allows import of a freewallet seed
TheStampWallet.com offers a wallet that allows import of individual private keys exported from freewallet -

The Stampwallet when importing a wallet ask for seed phrase and not private key as I see now, and the seed from my Freewallet which I copy directly from the wallet don't work somehow!

Hmm...should be an option to import individual private keys. Freewallet uses a non-standard seed (not BIP39) so it can't typically be imported into other wallets.

no importing seeds... gotta logout of wallet entirely and then login with 12-word seed.... wallet not really meant for switching seeds a bunch... use one 12-word passphrase... import private keys for everything else

You change the asset description in a wallet…. If a wallet is not working, then perhaps post specifically what is not working with links to document what is not working.
As of this moment, counterparty core developers put out a new release , and the API servers are being migrated, and a new fix release was just put out because a crashing bug was found in counterparty last night…. all are in the process of being addressed
I can’t speak to which one of these specific issues is causing your problems, but more than likely it is related to one of those.
I understand it can be frustrating immediately when you would like … However, posting details on what you’re having issues with, including links and screenshots, helps track down an issue.
Also, please remember that this is a 100% open-source free wallet and also support in this channel and documentation is a volunteer effort and has been written free of charge by community members.... big ups to @davesta for all his hard work supporting FreeWallet and writing the FAQ -

error while trying to broadcast is most likely an issue with your specific wallet... not a freewallet or counterparty or communication issue... as you were able to generate and sign a transaction before you attempted to broadcast it.... so, most likely related to your specific address or tx... perhaps your tx fees are too low... perhaps you have too many unconfirmed txs... tough to say without more info... but, what is clear is that its not an issue with CP API or Freewallet

restarting freewallet, restarting your computer, toggling VPN's off or on
waiting a bit and trying the transaction again in a few minutes...

Been getting this one occasionally. Not sure what the root cause is, but a retry often generates a correct tx.

Any users who want to use public.coindaddy.io (on v9.61.3) to generate transactions instead of api.counterparty.io (10.0.1).... you can update your settings to match the screen below... should have less problems in the short-term with generating transactions..... the default API host will remain api.counterparty.io for now... as I believe these issues will be resolved relatively quickly now that the devs have been made aware of some of the problems users are having generating txs.

Such a pain in the ass waiting for the transfer to be done.. Not like before. Only took 2 days.. Now it took a week or two. -
So I'm trying to buy a pepe and I keep getting "error while trying to broadcast send transaction" -
Error trying to broadcast most likely as an issue issue with your address and your specific transaction history…… the fact that you were able to generate a transaction and sign it before trying to broadcast indicates that this is not a communication problem or a problem with the transaction getting signed.
Perhaps you’re sending with too low of a transaction fee or you have too many pending transactions …. Can’t speak to that without more information…. But it does not appear to be an issue with FreeWallet. -
I checked my settings and the port is different than what you posted. Mine says cp port 4001. Is that normal?

Your settings are perfectly fine…. The fact that you’re able to generate and sign a transaction shows that there is no problem with FreeWallet.
Messing with your settings will only stop things from working further.
This is not appear to be an issue with FreeWallet …. But an issue with your specific address. -
Perhaps check out the FAQ and try gathering your UTXOs in electrum

if not.... open up the debug console... copy the "signed transaction=" portion of things... and you can try to broadcast the tx yourself via a service like https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/pushtx/

that should at least give you the error message taht bitcoin is throwing when you try to broadcast your transaction.... issue right now seems ot be you can generate aand sign a tx... but can't broadcast it, and the error is not bubbling up (showing up) within freewallet...... broadcasting the signed tx yourself should tell you the error message that is causing you problems

looks like alll of your txs are confirmed... not seeing any pending txs... so you should be good to try your tx again and see if you still have problems.... cuz i'm not seeing anything that would indicate issues at this point... tho debugging on phone gonna be tough since you can't copy/paste the signed tx 😛

wallet should automatically sign and broadcast txs... you shouldn't need to manually sign anything. -

GM @jdogresorg. I've been talking with Bob Smith about failed multi-sends. The fees in tx 1 get sent to an address that starts with a "3" and they remain there. As I understand it, my wallet seedphrase controls that "3" address but I don't have the private keys for it. Is there any way that you know of to use my seedphrase to generate a list of addresses in hopes of that "3" address popping up so that I can retrieve the private key? -

I know you can sign from those addresses (you do it when you sign the second MPMA tx).... but as far as how to derive those addresses and dump the private keys.... no easy copy/paste code that i'm aware of

the first tx where we encode the data... those "3" addresses is what he is trying to get to..... TLDR, he has MPMAs that failed... only did step 1 of the 2 part MPMA send... so he wants a way to gather that BTC n use it again (like we do in the 2nd MPMA tx to pay the tx fees)

Well, to gather those BTC you need to create the exact same redeem script. With that, you will repeat the same operation. This second tx will use all those BTC to fee, if you want to lower that fee, you need to add an output

Thank you @jdogresorg and @pataegrillo. I attempted to re-build the transaction with a .json and sent it via postman but the output did not match meaning I must have done something different that I can't remember doing. I'll consider it "lost" btc at this point :)

if a btc blockchain explorer is seeing it as confirmed, that means is it verifiably confirmed... the (old) mobile app will take a while to update your balance

changing a description (to a longform arweave or ipfs link) has been shown to use a low "effective fee rate" when broadcasting the tx.... even when using the "high" setting on FW
basically which means your sat/vb is correct, but mempool.space will show the tx as too low of an "effective fee rate"

okay - so at least you got your btc stuck in the mempool back.... - usually when i do that process it will CPFP the previous FW tx...
next time you do a change description just use about 3x the recommended high fee (and hopefully fees arent that high!) -

"effective fee rate" is based on taking into account your previous/pending txs.... so, not really an issue with freewallet calculating the fee..... since freewallet calcultes the fee for the tx... not the "Effective fee rate"

this will ensure taht your tx only uses utxos from confirmed txs, which should guarantee that the displayed "fee rate" in freewallet matches the "fee rate" in the tx and matches the "effective fee rate" (should be same since no other pending txs)

I don't have any screenshots of the FW fee estimation unfortunately. What I am viewing is the mempool.space transaction. In both cases that I sited in the Github issue the transaction was the only one pending from the wallet. So IDK where the effective fee rate is coming from. I assumed it was because the output was going to 4 addresses.
And from my experience the issue only occurs when doing a description update. I assume it is a "heavy" transaction, especially when using the IPFS link rather than the easyasset.art link. -
depends on the length of the description... if it fits in OP_RETURN, its a small tx with 2 outputs (OP_RETURN & change)... if the description is longer and doesn't fit in OP_RETURN, then multisig encoding is used to encode the data... which is where those other addresses come from.

I think it has to do with the 2 transactions involved in a multi-send. Each one is at the fee rate chosen (I think, I may be wrong).

The fees screen you see right there indeed does say $70…. However, when you click OK, an additional screen comes up and tells you the exact / additional amount of bitcoin needed to encode data in the transaction and the additional miners fee….
Yes, on one screen the price doesn’t match the total …. you’re actually shown a confirmation screen where the transaction does not broadcast unless you agree and confirm to the additional BTC fees..
TLDR no surprise fees…. Just gotta slow down n read what pops up instead of spam-clicking yes🤷🏻♂️😜 -
Messages that pop up when you want to do something can be annoying….. but I assure you every message that pops up in the Wallet is notifying you of something important that you should pay attention to👍🏻

yep... makes sense for the first tx.... the second tx is usually a bit smaller (it uses the BTC from the data encoding to pay the BTC miners fees on the second tx.... but yeah... you gotta read both screens..... make sure your on latest version of FW.... old version (9+ months old) dont show the second confirmation screen... so maybe you missed it cuz your on an older version?

its technically OK now... just xchain isnt showing the data... it will still function the same as it ever did.... and (in my experience with my dispenser) can also be seen in Freewallet still in the Dispensers section

tracked issue down to a failing SQL query..... database issue with origin_id not being set for dispensers... not exactly sure how that data got un-set... but prolly related to the data shuffle in switching mysql master replication server....

1. I could not find the NFT I thought I bought
2. A (probably fake J-Dog), started talking to me immediately after to “help”, sent be a link to “set up” my new wallet, saying that it is not registered, because there “hasn’t had enough transactions.. or whatever “
3. I’m trying to send funds out of there to another address with a different seed phrase, but everytime I try to send it, it says “use a valid address “. -

2) if you’re getting iMessages about a invalid address…. My guess is you’re on mobile and you’re trying to send to a segwit…. Segwit addresses are not supported on mobile…….
I would suggest sending to an address that starts with the a 1…..
Or download FreeWallet desktop , port 12 word, passphrase, and then try your send again from FreeWallet desktop -
And I’m sorry that scammers are using my name to try to take funds from you… that sucks…. Hope you’re able to rescue the funds before the scammer takes off with everything.

i think im finally finished sending all my assets out of my compromised wallet,i got lucky and had an idiot for a scammer,he had free reign on all my assets and he stole the least valuable ones i had,i talked to him on telegram he wanted bitcoin,he definetely didnt know how much trouble it was transferring assets,he had to fund my wallet and i would scam his funds before he could transfer them,i think he gave up,said he was from romania

nope... if you have the passphrase, you have access to the funds..... with a hardware wallet, you can get a bit more security by adding an additional password into the mix (and PIN on the device)... which the hackers would need to know in order to sign transactions..... but, as of right now, most non-custodial wallets just use a 12-word passphrase to access the account... any "password" is just a local password to allow you access to the wallet interface, not a password integrated into the wallet seed/address generation.... TLDR... hardware wallets offer more security.. more support coming in future 🙂

When I upgraded freewallet I lost all of my imported and added addresses.
Currently, when I go to add addresses, I get the message "xx new addresses have been added to your wallet" but when I go to change addresses, there are never more than 12 -
hrm... updating freewallet shouldnt have that effect... but sounds like your wallet got corrupted somehow... logout entirely, close wallet... reopen, re-import 12-words, re-add the addresses 🙂

cant speak to why sheit got corrupted other than to say it shouldnt happen and doesn't happen here... tho data corruption does happen sometimes... best path foward is just reset and re-import... also good to verify that you have everything you need to restore access to your addresses... just in case your laptop or phone or something ever gets stolen 🙂

imported addresses are not stored on pc anywhere.... your "add new address" to wallet stuff adds addresses in order... but any private keys you imported you'll have to re-import again

We should probably add that to the user manual @davesta. "Before upgrading your version of Freewallet, ensure you have stored the private keys to any imported wallet addresses" "Failure to do so will result in the loss of access to those wallets"

absolutely not.... the application data is separte from the user data... so updating the app should just update the files in the app (chromium browser, html/javascript files)... it should not effect your user data... your user data is only accessed when you actually OPEN the wallet

By user data, you're not referring to imported addresses though? Regardless those aren't stored anywhere? I guess I've never paid attention until just now as to whether or not a certain address was there or missing after an upgrade.

I do seem to recall there was something different about this last upgrade. I think I had to re-enter my seed phrase after installing it meaning the upgrade logged me out (and therefore disposed of my imported addresses). But this could be just my machine. I didn't document it, just a vague memory.

this is most likely because of an issue users were running into with 0.9.25 and 0.9.24

F*ck! That scammer was able to get my corn before I could send it out. Everytime I tried yesterday, it kept saying I was trying to send funds that were unconfirmed .. so I went to try today & they got to it before me!
At least it was just a bit of my stack (approx $600 worth)… still hurts though. (It’s what I have accumulated the past few months. 😓)
I think I might just go back to buying my straight up corn & sending to my cold storage.

Make sure you click the reset to default settings….. using api.counterparty.io will result in intermittent problems as the API is not stable and consistently goes up and down….
If you’re using default settings, and still having communication issues , it’s an issue with your local firewall or blocking communication…. Try getting on a VPN and try your tx again -

Boils down to I incorrectly tried buying a nft , came to this group for help.. a scammer posing as an admin immediately messaged to pretend to help. Convinced me the reason I wasn’t seeing it was because my wallet was new. Sent me a link Web3 I think to “register “, and I followed the instructions. They got my seed phase . I tried moving my corn yesterday while it was still there, but I have a mobile version & couldn’t send to any of my other addresses in time

logout of your old wallet... close freewallet... open freewalllet... click create new wallet... WRITE DOWN YOUR 12-word PASSPHRASE!!!!! ..... boom you got a new passphrase which can generate infinite addresses
