Release v0.9.25 · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop
fixed issue with missing first address fixed issue with wallet auto-locking
-
Just put out new release which should fix the missing address and auto-lock issues 👍️️️️
-
-
-
0.9.23
-
-
Happened already twice
-
At .25 now
-
but if you could give detailed screenshots and tx info I would recommend making an issue in the github - https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/issuesIssues · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop

This.
-
because it sounds like a major issue
-
I recommend you periodically import your private key into electrum, and send all the btc back to yourself. It just gets very fragmented after a while.
-
First time was let’s say my fault cuz I just trusted FreeWallet fees, but this time I doubled up and still got rejected during second broadcast
-
if you have a hardware wallet connected (imported) it has been reported there is multi-send issues
-
-
Because of the answers to this oh so common issue here:
https://gist.github.com/davestaxcp/1e2cc086a13c9a2d045876852b57e5be#failure-to-send-not-enough-btc-in-wallet
Many users and I have been recommending this upgrade:
https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/discussions/156
would love your feedback on it posted in the github ChainerFreewallet FAQ 2023 v0.9.23 - Write Up - Draft #5Freewallet FAQ 2023 v0.9.23 - Write Up - Draft #5. GitHub Gist: instantly share code, notes, and snippets.
-
This could also introduce a native "consolidate UTXO's" feature
-
-
Mmm this is the same issue? To set a fee rate based on tx weight, don’t know
-
its not the same issue
-
the issue is new users do just fine with their btc sends out of their Freewallet for the first few tx's - the moment they have many many UTXO's on their address, Freewallet UI doesnt take into account how much extra in fee's you need to reach a reasonable sat/vb level
-
-
-
-
-
As said in the github:
I would rather be writing an FAQ for "Why are the fee's so high on my address?" or "What are UTXO's and how can I see them on Freewallet?"
than having to fix people's issues when they say "Help! I used too small of a fee and my transaction is not confirming!" -

Thanks!

I have a week old TX still waiting. Did a CPFP bump, still no luck. Can’t cancel it using FreeWallet either. 🤷♂️

If a user is having this issue still, it’s cuz they haven’t reset the wallet…. They need to logout and back in with their 12-word passphrase n the issue will be resolved….. when in doubt, logout n log back in with the 12-word passphrase

Looks like parsing died on one of my coindaddy servers n it’s about 5000 blocks behind…. It’s parsing now, should be caught up soon…. All coindaddy issues prolly related to this…. Will be migrating main coindaddy site to a new server this week.

Also might be a good idea to try this logging out and logging back in... (Of course back up your passwords and private key for any imported addresses)
-
I will say I have never seen this error yet and I've written FAQ's on about a dozen different errors
-
-
yes
-
that error is coming either from counterparty or from blockcypher when the wallet tries to broadcast the signed tx..... its address/tx specific... so, in order to diagnose any issue, you should create create a github issue for counterparty-lib with all the steps to reproduce the issue, including API calls, lists your trying to send, tx hash for first tx, etc... the more details the better... AFAIK there is no issue with freewallet or counterparty-lib with MPMA sends

welcome! check pinned message for Freewallet.io documentation and help guides

Hello I made a BTC transaction 5 days ago with a low fee from freewallet and now it is stuck with unconfirmed label. What shall I do to unlock it? @jdogresorg
-
as per the pinned message, pinning jdog isnt the best move without reading the documentation and issue process. there is already ample documentation to help with this common issue

Ah OK, is there a quick answer without having me to scroll down this massive literature that I don't really understand? 😃

those links go straight to the FAQ section that relates to the issue

sorry if I am being dry with my tone... just late here and that issue is very common...
have any recommendations for how the FAQ's are formatted? also let me know if the documentation helped with your issue. -
OK thanks for saying that
-
I am not really a computer person so it's quite hard for me to understand this stuff, not really my language
-
Will the BTC come back to the wallet at some point or could it stay stuck forever?
-
if not confirmed it never left your wallet

Hey have an issue with a multisend. How can the following TX @4.92/vB be unlocked?
https://xchain.io/tx/03fa28d2b182b3ecf9b74d380237673c1fab21dc5c47348692a929841108f22c
At this fee rate waiting a few weeks wouldn't change anything and without utxo, CPFP doesn't look to be possible. - 29 September 2023 (14 messages)

Unfortunately too large of a tx to accelerate with viabtc or similar. I'd try importing the private key into electrum wallet, and sending all the btc to yourself.
-
at the moment this is the guide I usually recommend for what CryptoChainer is referencing:
https://gist.github.com/davestaxcp/1e2cc086a13c9a2d045876852b57e5be#help-i-used-too-small-of-a-fee-and-my-transaction-is-not-confirmingFreewallet FAQ 2023 v0.9.23 - Write Up - Draft #5Freewallet FAQ 2023 v0.9.23 - Write Up - Draft #5. GitHub Gist: instantly share code, notes, and snippets.

-
nothing you can do with that tx
I have a idea on how to make a MPMA send that can also be CPFP'd but have not tried it yet -
rebroadcast the same tx with higher fees. I believe the assets are still in your wallet.

-
-
Hrm… hello scammer!

where is typo? feel free to DM, I will fix

also, @jdogresorg are you going to comment on @sn_noop2 's recommendation in this discussion?
https://github.com/jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop/discussions/156#discussioncomment-7117168
In my opinion, most of the user's common issues stem from the lack of this one part of information in Freewallet...
Lets just assume for a moment I am the 'acting Counterparty Community Manager' and I wanted to pull request official Counterparty Docs to include a User Manual / FAQ for Freewallet...
If sat/vb isn't shown, and a new user builds up a bunch of UTXO's on a legacy address using Freewallet, they will have NO idea why "my btc send isnt working".... basically if this is not addressed I wouldnt even feel comfortable recommending new and uneducated users to use Freewallet at all...
Add issue #109 on top of that and you already have a pretty bad new user experience... which makes me realize that I would assume most users see that message as in #109 and just don't use the wallet at all...
The publisher should be shown and not just "unknown" as well as tackling why windows see's it as a trojan....Show sat/vB and allow user to set fee rate · jdogresorg/freewallet-desktop · Discussion #156People often want to set the fee rate in sat/vB to know how quickly their transaction would confirm and how expensive it is relative to other transactions (regardless of # UTXOs used). -
I'll look into these issues when I have time
-
simply commenting on the github post for sat/vb "I already have plans to revisit the fee estimations in freewallet... please be patient" would have been just fine
@sn_noop2 went out of his way to review the open source code and come up with a solution because there was no communication from you about it
as for "I am not paid, nor are my expenses covered..... and my time is very limited"
neither am I paid at all for any of this, and my time is also very limited, I have a small window this year to go full force in trying to fix issues in this community, the CP github and the FW github.... I simply want to help new users have a wallet they like, can trust and can easily use without having to repeatedly be forwarded to an FAQ that I had to write myself.
I continually have gone out of my way to even make issue requests for other people that wont make a Github account and document it themselves -
I greatly appreciate the work your doing for the CP community, and trying to document/support freewallet 👍️️️️
