tokensan will be out of sync for a lil bit
-
Okay I set up a dispenser from the “dark side”
And it worked.
Mayeb it will help you. If you look at both ?! -
believe the issue was related to data syncing to tokenscan and the failed 10.5 issue last night... rolled back n parsing forward now.. should be caught up soonish
-
-
Can follow the progress at https://tokenscan.io/blocks ... about 1000 blocks to parse
-
Okay 👌 interesting 🧐
-
-
your tx shows up in the CP database, so it will show up on tokenscan.io once this data re-sync is done 🙂
-
post ur tx hash n i'll check CP database... will be in there too
-
Ha couldn’t find transaction lol
-
Doesn’t show there either
This is my rare pepe wallet that I loaded onto FreeWallet and onto horizon too
Does that matter ? -
-
Priceless asset for this
-
this just shows that the tx was broadcast... doesn't mean that the tx was confirmed in a block and processed.... could be that another tx spent the inputs and your tx was invalidated.... CP only sees txs that are in mempool or in a block... without tx hash being visible on a bitcoin block explorer, can't do much
-
FYI... just fixed an issue in MPMA... was related to the v1 to v2 migration guide not properly documenting the /compose/mpma endpoint instead of the /compose/send endpoint.... this update will be in the next release later tonight

Okay ya my issue is laptop and tg on my phone
But yes not working for horizon either -

Yup

Okay FreeWallet showing the transaction anyway btc gone no dispenser.

that is a 404 tx on unspendable labs as well... and doesn't show up in CP database

am looking for the dispenser tx hash you said you creaetd which shows on UL and not on tokenscan.io

Unspendable assets but it’s spending my btc haha Hmm time stamp says ?

lol... now cp2mysql is having syncing issues with the reparse....
-
-
Well... at least I know that they fixed the issue with status not being updated for fairminters... of course, publicly said they couldn't explain why tokenscan was saying "open" for fairmints that were closed.... and quietly fixed the problem.. lol
-
Nothing shows in tokenscan
-
yeah.. i'm still a few days behind... fixing another issue caused by a counterparty-core "fix"... sec
-
It’s clear they want to take it all back into there control fully wich a goofy non friendly way of doing it
Also it seems. Like from a screen shot someone sent me if you open a wallet full on horizon.
You can choose to make $$ off the mints eh.
So that’s fun

not in CP database either... pls stop guessing and find the tx on UL that is a dispenser that you say is showing on UL and not on Tokenscan.

pls LMK what they find... have also had some users reporting similar behavior in freewallet when setting up dispensers... would be good to confirm there is indeed an intermittent issue in counterparty-core which is effecting Horizon wallet.... instead of them just blaming FreeWallet (we both use the same v2 API 🤷️️️️️️)

I’m sure I’m not alone.
I guess there banker coder’s Hahahah
Oh man that gives me an idea ahah -
btw... tokenscan.io back up to date... syncing address balances... another 10 mins or so and all data should be 100% good and matching what is in CP database

also.. switching MPMA sends back to the /v1/ endpoint... so that users dont lose functionality and are able to keep sending separate memos in MPMA sends

is there a preferred hardware wallet solution for XCP right now? i know looney was working on something

good idea. didnt know about the user manual
-
users were using Ledger, but functionality like MPMA seems to not work within the Ledger hardware wallet UI.... i think @subterranean1 has tested a few options and wonder what he would think is best at this time
the answer is, whatever hardware you might choose, there will be limited counterparty functions you can use from that address (prob only supports sending/receiving etc) -
Reverting to CP 10.5 means a chain split or just removing certain functions from the wallet? @jdogresorg

Hi Dave!

its on freewallet.io - check it out :) - Sub helped alot with it too ❤️

No MPMA sends with hardware wallets (yet). I guess it’s a tough nut to crack.

thanks guys. appreciate your continued support
-
and really not sure, saw that 9.6.1 is still being run by StampedNinja and XCP dot dev ..... not sure what the future will hold
-
FYI... ledger fork already happened over a week ago.... to answer your question it means 2 version of freewallet (counterparty-2.0 / counterparty-classic) and it means 2 version of tokenscan... working on the updates now.... will release both versions tomorrow and users can choose which one they want to run... it also allows for some interesting possibilities (like using counterparty-classic with cheaper P2SH MPMAs and support for multiple memos, and having those cheaper/better MPMAs show up on counterparty-2.0 ledger)...
-
Interesting. Okay. I'll wait for the release notes. Sorry you're in this quagmire with the rest of us, but at least you're actually listening, testing, and trying!
-
will do my best to include warning messages in both wallets warning users about some of the pitfalls.... but, chain/ledger fork already happened a week ago, other devs other than myself are running 9.61.3, and already have lots of differences in the ledgers where users sent BTC on counterparty-2.0, it was not converted to a "dispense" resulting in funds only being dispensed on the "old" ledger.
-
so... did my best to avoid a fork and all the confusion... and only supported the "official" version of CP until now... but we're past that now, ledger has forked, much longer than the fork earlier this year... so IMO best thing is to show data from both ledgers and clarify exactly what wallet works on what ledger and let users decide what they wanna run, etc.
-
-
Thanks for the explainer. I'll let you work

meaning, no more stupid questions from me. You don't work for me, lol

And that is why you're the fucking man @jdogresorg
-
how many confirms does fw need for btc to be spendable for a tx?
-
im at 11 confirms and still can send
-
cant
-
Put a fork in me.. I'm done
Kek🤣🤣 -
-
-
-
-
Yeah, I identified an issue where the new counterparty API throws error messages, and the submit button on the send form fails to reactivate and become clickable…. I have a fix that I put in place in the code earlier…. Unfortunately I’m in the middle of a whole bunch of updates so you’ll have to wait until tomorrow for a new Wallet release…. If you can fill out the form completely and trigger the fee estimation check again, then the send button should get reactivated so you can click it to do a send.
-
You don’t need any confirms… you can spend pending transactions, etc….
The only limitations that you might run into from the Bitcoin network would be that you can only change so many transactions together and have them pending before you get rejected and are unable to generate a new transaction until some of your pending transactions confirm…. I believe the limit is 15. -
ok Ive not done any tx except receive a little btc to cover fees about 2 hours ago - i just cant seem to do a multisend to send 2 cards out - keeps saying Error composing send transaction via API: insufficient funds for CARDNAME
-
that error sounds like the 2 'CARDNAME' isnt successfully confirmed on your address yet?.... meaning the wallet doesnt see you own enough of the tokens (CARDNAME) to send out?
is the token divisible? could be you are trying to send out more than a divisible portion of the card?
usually the insufficient funds is due to not having enough BTC on the address.... check the user manual for help with that... could be the BTC you sent has alot of UTXO's maybe?
when looking up your address on blockstream.info ... how many "confirmed Unspent" is there on the address? -
Yep, that’s an issue with counterparty core as well…. There API one to API two migration guide said to use compose send and didn’t make any mention of compose mpma…. As a result, I use compose send and I’m now getting error messages from counterparty when trying to do a multi send rather than doing a compose mpma….
TLDR, another issue I fixed, but won’t be in release until tomorrow… probably best at this point to just do the two sends individually… or wait until the new wallets are released tomorrow…
Really sorry for all the confusion of the past few days , been doing my best to get the Wallet to work with the new counterparty API, but there’s a bunch of stuff in counterparty-core that’s broken and has not been discovered until it’s actually being used… hence the 5+ “hotfix” releases this week🤷🏻♂️
Broken mpma sends
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/2568
Bad migration documentation
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/2540
Bad dispense tx errors
https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/2571
And those are just three issues I found in the past 48 hours … I found a few more, but not wasting my time doing work for the developers, they can do their own testing🤷🏻♂️
By tomorrow, you should be able to have a stable counterparty-classic Freewallet as well as a new counterparty-2.0 wallet…. Which will be considerably less stable, but will support some of the new cp features like mints👍🏻MPMA Send unable to send multiple memos · Issue #2568 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-coreTraditionally, MPMA Sends have allowed for a optional per-line memo, which can be either hex or not on a per-send basis. That’s a new one…. Gotta be an issue in counterparty-core,… still working on new releases… just a bit more patience…. Sorry guys

I will give it another go.

Works here. Maybe try resetting your server settings
-
I have, bunch of times
-
-
-
-
Got a fix coming out for that…. Just gotta be a bit patient…. It’s related to the way counterparty 2.0 is returning errors different than it has in the past on “counterparty classic”
-
Gotta release everything at once to avoid any confusion… probably late tonight or at some point tomorrow
-
I’ve got the FreeWallet and counterparty2mysql repos set up with the new branches and code separation…. Now, just parsing all of the data in from counterparty classic to update the bootstraps….. then onto updating tokenscan so the data lives on separate URLs, which are very clear about which data set / ledger you’re viewing👍🏻

*** Announcing Counterparty Core v10.6.0 ***
This release includes a protocol change to fix a regression for the case when there have been multiple dispensers opened at a single address. The bug prevents users from triggering dispensers at addresses where there have previously been closed dispensers (rather than simply re-opened dispensers).
This release is a protocol change from mainnet block 868,200 (in about one week).
It also includes a backwards-incompatible change in the API: /v2/addresses/<address>/balances/<asset> and /v2/assets/<asset>/balances/<address> now return a list that may include balances attached to UTXOs of <address>.
This release includes a bugfix for chained UTXO movements within the same block. This bugfix requires an automatic reparse starting from block 867,000. Given the current slowdowns in catching up with the API database, we recommend using counterparty-server bootstrap before restarting your server, but of course you can reparse from scratch to verify. The slowness in reparsing is currently being addressed.
*NOTE*: All wallets should use the compose_dispense() call to trigger dispenses rather than the legacy create_send(). Due to the above bug, using create_send() can make it possible for users to send BTC to an address where the dispenser will fail. All node hosts should migrate to compose_dispense() ASAP.

Due to the above bug, using create_send() can make it possible for users to send BTC to an address where the dispenser will fail. All node hosts should migrate to compose_dispense() ASAP.

^^ I found that bug... and discovered that the whole "BTC sends will automatically be converted to dispenses, so no worries on dispensers not working" nonsense to be false

of course... dont credit me (not that I care about credit)... just pointing it out that, I'm finding lots of issues, ones that require emergency hotfix releases/updates... while at the same time being gaslighted for not finding issues in their code months ago.... LOL

MPMA Send unable to send multiple memos · Issue #2568 · CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core

and of course... mentioning that their stance is silly, that functionality has been lost, and that they are ignoring issues... gets marked as "abuse"... lol

</end rambling pseudo-rant>

back to coding 😛
-
no your fine.. if you had a dispenser open. just leave it alone
-
-
new wallet release for freewallet "Counterparty 2.0" will automatically check if there is a dispenser on the address your sending BTC to, prompt you if your sending BTC to a dispenser, and if you choose yes, convert the "send" to a "dispense" tx.... since that functionality does not work in the counterparty-core
-
also the latest 10.6 release fixes the issue I reported with not being able to open up dispensers on addresses which have had dispensers closed on them before... so in theory, those 2 issues should be fixed in "Counterparty 2.0"... but who knows
-
TLDR.. just a bit more patience... working on updates still 🙂

-
nope... fork already happened... ledgers been diverging for over a week... YES, they fixed a couple of the issues i identified, but still more issues (like losing ability to do MPMA sends, dispensers triggered on one ledger and not another, etc)... so, i'm not forking anything... I supported the "Counterparty 2.0" stuff as much as I could... but, now there are 2 ledgers and versions of counterparty... so best to just embrace the differences, name them, and put out tools and explorers to show data on both (like xcp.dev did).... "Counterparty Classic" and "Counterparty 2.0"
-
-
at least not on "Counterparty 2.0".... on "Counterparty Classic", that still works 🙂
-
-
cant really help you on that side of things - best to look at their documentation: https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

Not sure I follow. I thought you wanted to stay away from Counterparty and fully focus on BTNS and xchain platform... Why go through all those hoops?? Looks like a waste of precious time to me.
Is anyone (except for Juan) really still using a v9.61 ledger at this time?? -
Another fake J-Dog in DMs lol
Could we make the chat member list visible to all? Would make it much easier to spot and protect the community against fake J-Dog accounts -
I do wanna focus on XChain platform, and that has been my primary focus for months…. However, I still run tokenscan, and FreeWallet, which most of the counterparty community relies on to interact with counterparty..
I had hoped to just be able to make some simple tweaks to tokenscan and FreeWallet to support 10.XX and then be able to get back to work on XChain platform…. However, it is now been 2+ weeks of nonstop work tryiing to update things to work with 10.X…. I am constantly having users complain about new issues with things not working, lost functionality, lost funds, and confusion.
I want users to be able to have a Wallet, which they can interact with counterparty in a reliable way, as has been the case for many .years.
unfortunately, due to the mismanagement, lack of testing, constant counterparty-core “emergency” hotfix updates (6+ releases), and loss of functionality on “Counterparty 2.0”, this seems impossible on 10.XX+
Over the last two weeks I’ve been constantly making changes to try to support 10.XX and finding lots of issues which I’ve been reporting to the core devs. Unfortunately, during that time, the ledgers have diverged, as a number of wallets, explorers, and tools have failed to update to 10.XX.
While it is a bit more work for me in the short term to support two different versions of everything, I feel it is in the best interest of the community to do so, and just let people use whatever version they want….. and I can get back to focusing on XChain platform. 👍🏻 -
Xcp.dev and xcp.ninja explorers are on 9.61.3… and users continue to generate transactions on 9.61.3 via the xcp.ninja wallet (https://wallet.xcp.ninja/)
As I’ve said, I did my best to avoid a fork, and stay on only the “counterparty 2.0” version, and that has been the only version that my explorer and wallet have supported for multiple weeks.
However, in spite of my efforts to avoid a ledger fork, it has happened anyway, and the best thing going forward is to simply show data from both versions of counterparty, and let users choose the tools and version of counterparty that they want to use. -
I hid the chat list in the past at the suggestion of some users, who indicated that they were getting DM’s from scammers, even when they weren’t interacting in FreeWallet chat, because the scammers can see a list of users and use it as a list of targets to try to trick.
I feel like providing a list of all users to scammers, puts them more at risk. -
I minted that name lol wa while ago not sure why this card didn’t use it ? lol 😂
-
Remember my chat and questions about my odd dispensers ? Horizon never answered me back ?

now lol 😂 such a funny one to not have worked
It was in the works to be all set up on 866,000
Couldn’t quite pull it off
But one issuance it’s the last transaction before the change ! So that’s something -
Oh no it was a transaction I had lol 😂 not an issuance haha oh well close ha !
-
-
First you enter a 12 word pass phrase to get into your wallet… once you do that you can click on the addresses button and select the import private key option
-
Can it be successful if my private key address starts with bc1p?
-
No, bc1p format is not supported yet by the counterparty platforms legacy (starts with 1) and bech32 (starts with bc1q) are supported
-
if you want to import a segwit/bech32 address (bc1q)... then when you import your private key use the following format p2wpkh:private_key_here
-
the p2wpkh: prefix tells the wallet to use the private key as a segwit/bech32 address
-
-
not sure what wallet your using your bc1p address in, since no counterparty wallets support it that I am aware of... but, you "should" be able to compose a sweep transaction manually for your bc1p address via the counterparty API... the sweep will move your funds from your bc1p address to a different address (use legacy or bech32 address)... and then take that generated transaction to whatever wallet your using, sign it and broadcast it.... Tho, will require a lil bit of technical knowledge in how to use the CP API and how to sign/broadcast transactions
-
Counterparty Core API · Apiary
A place where APIs are kept.
-
There is the documentation to generate a sweep transaction... hope that helps. 👍️️️️️️
-
once your tokens are moved to a counterparty-supported address, you should be able to take your private key to any counterparty wallet and plug it in and have it work 🙂
-
Thanks for the detailed response
Now we have *3* different ledgers actually, right? v10, ninja + tokenscan, and xcp.dev (which forked months ago) -
I think just 2 ledgers... xcp.dev and xcp.ninja are on 9.61.3... I guess "TECHNICALLY" 3 ledgers, cuz xcp.dev also shows 10.1.2... but ppl are only able to interact with 2 of the ledgers via tools "Counterparty Classic (9.61.3)" and "Counterparty 2.0 (10.4+)"
-
Then the choice is really easy to make: if you go with 10.4+ you will be missing a few dozen(?) transactions, while with 9.61.3 you're missing almost 200,000 transactions (mostly fairmints) and all future atomic swaps
-
The difference is between the ledgers is quite a bit more than just a couple dozen transactions. But I’m glad the choice is easy for you to make👍🏻 my plan is to continue to support both wallets and versions, as I feel every user should be able to make their own choice, much like you have👍🏻😊
-
I look forward to future functionality being added to “counterparty 2.0”, but it has lost a good amount of functionality from the classic version, and some users would prefer to be able to set up and manage dispensers in a much easier way, that cost less, and allows payment from any BTC wallet, and not just counterparty specific wallets👍🏻

MacBook Pro - 64GB ram - 2TB SSD - 15 TB exteral drives.. base OS mac - multiple desktops to easily switch between tasks (server maintenance, coding, mail/chat, etc).... my coding tools are Subllime text.. my advice there would be keep it simple with a lightweight editor... also dont get overwelmed and think coding is too hard or real tough... its pretty easy to start (w3schools.com)... I'd start with learning HTML/CSS to get the basics of webpages, then move on to javascript to learn the programming basics.... Most languages are pretty damn similar, so once you understand one programming language, you can pretty easily pickup others fast... only real differences are synatax (var bar = 'foo' in javascript, $bar = 'foo' in PHP and perl, etc).. just minor syntax changes between languages

Glad to hear your interested in coding, slow and steady and you'll be coding stuff up in no-time 🙂

OG mainframe/mid-range developer here who dabbled in Client/Sever development before being outsourced and put to pasture after the fake (and ghey) y2k scares, but still amazed at the pace, imagination and brilliance of today's devs.
I don't know how much coding I have in my future professionally, but I hope to help inspire, maybe teach, others - especially the younger gens to embrace it and make it even greater for others; I sense that enthusiasm in your commitment to the community and projects you support - good for you, your best work is still in front of you. Cheers! -
old dev here too.... I had to work the overnight shift at RealNetworks during the y2k scare "just in case" shit went down... crazy how times have changed huh? Used to be you had to be a jack of all trades... server admin, coder, DB admin, tester, etc... now ppl can focus on just one aspect as their full career.. "Front end dev", "back end dev", "Database Administrator".... 😛

Inspiring the youth of today to get invoved and build stuff is a great goal... these youngsters got a lot they could learn from us old timers 😛

and vice versa 🙂

Yep, tech and roles change, apparently production roll-out has too.
I used to hate the testing, QC & documentation leg of the Software Development Life Cycle, but you really appreciate it when you're the 'user'.
First advice to any new dev (or for any occupation) would be - know, respect and serve your customer and you'll never be out of business. -

Same sort of consumption rate. 46, still dabbin before coffee in am.
I was smoking a herb constant for all the years before up until probably about I don't know 6 years ago switched over to only perfect temperature dabs and a little bit of high quality flour here and there but only high quality dab. I can't believe it there's no crash I don't get tired no mental lag only just the most positive aspects of the medication no mid day crash.
My first dab hit an old buddy gave it to me way too hot and it thrashed the s*** out of me maybe want to puke super watery eyes drooling coughing no no no that's amateur stuff.
Once the temperature was correct 🤯 I honestly can't believe I didn't figure out how to dab before. I've grown herb my whole life. -

setting up dispensers, yes.... buying from dispensers, not reliable yet... counterparty-core still has the issue with not creating dispense txs sometimes when using create_send.... new freewallet release will be out in a few hours
-
Just announced
-
yeah... unfortunately still got a week to go before the counterparty-core "dispensers fix" activates... the issue related to not being able to send BTC dispense payments to addresses with open dispensers which HAPPEN to have a closed dispener on the address in the past.... TLDR, dispeners on counterparty-core still unstable for another week, even if you use the mandatory compose_dispense function that wasn't supposed to be mandatory 🤷️️️️️️

Hallo
-
I don't wanna fud
-
I’ll keep running classic…. But ppl do need to be aware that until replay protection is put on the fork by the core devs…. Any transactions done on classic will affect the counterparty 2.0 ledger and anything done on the counterparty 2.0 ledger will affect the classic ledger….
I think there will be a good amount of people that will continue to use counterparty 2.0 as it has a bunch of new features …. So my suggestion would be that if you want to use the classic version, create a new Wallet and issue your assets from your new wallet…. Your assets will be issued on both chains, and depending on how you set up your dispensers, could sell tokens on both chains… but there is a bit of risk, so users need to be aware of what they’re doing if they’re planning on using both versions….. -
I’ll include some warnings in the Explorer and wallets
-
A bonus of keeping the classic version alive is that users can go back to using the cheap MPMA sends in classic and they will be read and parsed by counterparty 2.0👍🏻
-
What's the possibility of us frogs running a cp node along the side of our btc node? I run start9 could cp run on start9?
-
Great question
-
everything is possible depending on your resources
-
Was just a thought since last i seen there is 118 nodes between both versions seems low for how much value and traffic is present
-
afaik you need Counterparty 9.x + AddrIndxRs ( + a cptomysql script if you wanna make public wallet/explorer operations with the API)
and you probably also can ssh in your start9 and install it yourself -
1.2 TB of disk space... prolly would need about 2TB of disk space to be safe
-
-
I’m interested in setting up a node.
-
I chatted with Javier earlier this week about the counterparty classic and getting the fednode working again since Adam and team broke it by renaming the counterparty-lib repo..... basically just need to update some urls to point to new codebases and bootstraps and ppl can spin up 9.61 "Counterparty Classic" nodes if they want.... but prolly best to just use it via freewallet classic for now... i'll provide a public API to both the "Counterparty Classic" and "Counterparty 2.0" versions for ppl to use via public.tokenscan.io
-
cool.. ping me in about a week and i'll check with Javier and do some testing to make sure install works as its supposed to... then will point you at instructions... basically just clone a repo and run fednode install base master... 1 command downloads and installs and starts everything 🙂
-
Ya we should all jump on board with this
-
I have 2tb ssd but can expand since im running core and a few other programs im at 1.1 of free storage do you recommend nvmi ssd i take it
-
Not cool with centralized control…
-
-
To be honest, running a node doesn't really help the network since nodes dont communicate with one another, they just communiate with the blockchain... but, it does provide you with an easy way to query data directly from your own counterparty instance, and gives you some cool techie bragging rights... and contributes to strengthening bitcoin (every CP node runs a bitcoin instance).... If you run a node, it would be good to make it a public node so ppl can use it if needed.... I can also start making a running list of ppl running the nodes and IP/hostnames
-
side-note:.... Adam built into the current counterparty 2.0 "telemetry"... which basically phones home to his servers every block to report your IP, version, last block, etc... so, unless you explicitly say "dont phone home to the mothership and expose my data"... its enabled... this is how they are able to get an idea of how many ppl are running nodes
-
we saw this exposed when the 10.4 version went live, and all their shit went down... and ppl started seeing errors every block about failed calls to "telemetry.counterparty.io"
-
Yeah my biggest concern was the amount granted they could be scattered across the globe but it would be nice if they were a few thousand just to keep the network live whether it be weather or any general power outages or whatever
-
And more eyes on the code is crucial
-
is it feasible for us and desired to further develop in a community way?
-
That’s not how counterparty nodes work tho. They don’t form a network. They don’t talk to each other at all. So you wouldn’t be keeping the network alive unless you’re providing some form of end user service, like a public explorer, using your node.
-
Yep, I just went over that mike.. "nodes dont communicate with one another, they just communicate with the blockchain"
-
thanks for your helpful insight, as always
-
Yeah but if 118 go offline there's no communication at all right
-
this has been a struggle for counterparty for many years... growing the community... tried foundations, etc.. all sorts of different things... CP has always been a grassroots community effort, not really a centralized pump n dump platform.... until recently.
-
They don’t talk to each other. You run a node for your own benefit or to offer a public service like an explorer.
-
Every node could disappear for 6 months. Then you start a new one up and parse everything from the blockchain.
-
all data is stored on the blockchain... so, all nodes can go offline, and come back up at any time... no data is lost... this happened with dogeparty platform... it was booted up in 2014... went a couple years, died.... then I rebooted it in 2022 again by just spinning up a single node.... counterparty ran for many years on just a handful of nodes.
-
Okay sorry for my lack of knowledge just trying to think this out that is great info but I still wouldn't mind running one as a few others probably would too
-
It’s great to do so. Maybe offer a public service like an explorer or other tooling
-
why would they want that?
-
to get data on who is running nodes and information on status of each node.... IMO, kinda goes against the whole trustless / decentralized mindset having a node report back to the mothership every block... but, thats just my opinion
-
What is there to sell exactly? A wallet? There no tokens to give them so doesn’t make sense
-
I simply answered Gmoneys question about what changed in their motivations... and shared my opinion that perhaps it had to do with the 28 milion in VC funds taken on.. and that the company went bankrupt and was sold around the same time Adam and Evan came poking back around CP looking to get involved again... I can't speak to their plans or motivations, as they have not been very transparent with them.... or, at least, they say they are... but, didn't mention anything about taking on VC funds to Unspendable Labs until 3 months after the fact, and only becaue they were forced to (and rage-quit the main channel before doing so).... Up to everyone to draw their own conclusions and guesses on what their plans are.
-
Yeah I’m not saying you’re wrong, just can’t see what the investors would get in return
-
Certainly they are here to build on CP... and build for-profit products through UL... how much those overlap, and how much of their business model will effect CP development remains to be seen... so far, not looking good... breaking stuff without suitable replacements working yet, and driving ppl away from a solid wallet by breaking functionality and telling ppl not to use the wallet.
-
understood... I do my best to try and not take stuff personal now... so no worries 🙂
-
Maybe their intentions are not pure and they are here to interrupt our community to protect other investments
-
UL is not counterparty-only company..
-
-
Bro! I thought your theory was the founders were part of q team. Not hating just wondered when you changed your opinion.
-
Do dispensers work ? Now ?
-
not yet... 1.) will need new FreeWallet version to have them work reliably and 2.) will need to wait another week for the counterparty-core 1.5 release with fixes to dispeners to go active... and THEN they "should" work on counteparty 2.0..... as for counterparty classic, yes they work, but use at your own risk (best to prolly create a new empty wallet n addresses to use classic)
-
in classic... you could create a dispenser on a new/empty address, and it would ONLY exist on classic... but, if you send funds to the new wallet address (send BTC, send assets, open dispenser) then the dispenser will exist on both classic and counterparty 2.0.... n anyone using "counterparty 2.0" to buy from the dispensers would get both the "counterparty 2.0" token and the "classic" token from the dispensers
-
Adam was just doing what he was told... Bryne, Caitin Long etc were part of that original team I think
-
some nuanced usage when you have multiple forks without replay protection on... hence why I encouraged the fork to do the responsible thing and put replay protection on... until they do, use classic at your own risk.
-
most actions on classic will be 100% safe... however where there are differences (dispensers), you will want to use caution
-
Ah I missed that before sending funds lol
Updating now lol
Goofy shit so glad they are progressing over at cp
Unspendable well it’s certainly “sendable” lol 😂 -

-
Ya I just saw a new free wallet update wanted to know if that was the most recent
-
-
I get the cp protocol probably needs to be 12.8 to be stable lol 😂
-
haven't put it out yet... next "FreeWallet" version will be 2.0.0 ... next "FreeWallet Classic" version will be 0.9.38.... separate versioning and different wallet names to help make it more clear what your running on, etc.
-
Oh k
Makes sense !
I just installed 9.37
So wait your saying -
0.9.37 is safe for use except for dispensers which are unreliable on that version due to issues in counterparty-core
-
Thankfully cp only cost me .00021109 this time I should have been keeping track lol 😂
-
Hmmm may be worthwhile to make the names even more separate.
Freewallet 2.0 is nice for 10.4plus I do like that
FW Classic 0.9.38 might work a tad better
Just trying to make sure only advanced users are aware and don't accidently click on the first 'freewallet' they see... We know a lot of new users tend to do that -
If it takes a day or two to make updated wallet they might be at 10.8 by then lol
-
-
nah
-
-
-
-
Renaming it to "FreeWallet 2.0" will just ruffle more feathers, as Adam and team refuse to embrace "Counterparty 2.0" now that they caused a ledger fork... so, sticking with "FreeWallet" as that is what ppl have been using for years to stay on the latest version of counterparty... "FreeWallet Classic" is for users who want to interact with "Counterparty Classic" which runs on counterparty-lib 9.61.3...
-
Ok can see that perspective
-
Maybe FreeWallet 2.0... still open to it I spose..
-
Gotchya, just as i mentioned in the XCP chat bout a day ago I just think it's extremely important at this time for the xcp website to show FW 2.0 as a good 10.4plus wallet to use
-

I dont expect that Adam and team will restore link to tokenscan or freewallet period, as they are a threat to their explorer and wallet dominance 🤷️️️️️️

Could you please elaborate on what issues/possible dangers are when using the classic version? (without the implementation of replay attack protection in either ledgers). As you said, when interacting on the classic ledger, all transactions will be read and parcsed by counterparty 2.0. Hence -if I understood this correctly - all transactions will get recorded in each ledger
So, if I send/receive an asset, that will validated as a valid transaction in both ledgers (hence the asset will be added/removed on both). What a malicious actor can do -when transacting in classic - that might result in loss of assets in the counterparty 2.0 chain? Could you please elaborate on the risks? If counterparty 2.0 adds replay protection, the tx on classic will not be valid on 2.0 -meaning that sending/receiving assets on classic will not be recognised on 2.0. So... why add replay protection, if it will break the functionality of doing MPMA in classic cheaper, and the assets transfer getting recorded on the 2.0 too? Thanks -

In 8th grade I had a tech physics teacher tell us that the solution to pollution was dilution..... I'm pretty sure I wound up kicked outside in the hall for calling the idea retarded shortly after that...
But this has me thinking about these atomic swaps..
if frog art is toxic, are these atomic swaps and attempt to just diluting it?? diluting all of counterparty with a bunch of shitcoins???
If so, now we know even more why it had to be frogs...
you can flood the bog....
Midway through the flood frogs will climb out the water flip you off and then climb back in the water n wait for the flood waters to recede..... -
tokenscan.io should now be back to showing the "Counterparty 2.0" data on tokenscan... issue was related to an apache config including a ServerAlias for tokenscan.io instead of for cp20.tokenscan.io or classic.tokenscan.io .... still working on the migration... should be done and launched today 🙂
-
with replay protection, the ledgers stay separate and what happens on counterparty 2.0 does not effect the counterparty classic ledger.... without replay protection, transactions on one ledger effect both ledgers... and where it can get sketchy is where there are functionality differences on the ledger... in the case of NEW functionality like fairmints, they will just not appear on the counterparty classic ledger.... However in the case of dispensers, where there is drastic differences in functionality (cp 2.0 requires a dispense message to trigger, and lost ability to setup dispensers on new/empty addresses in one tx... aka the origin functionality)..... So, if you plan to use classic, you should be aware of these pitfalls and NOT plan to use Counterparty 2.0.... OR if you plan to use both ledgers and are interacting with dispensers... make sure to setup your wallet in the "old" way (1. send btc to new address. 2. send asset to new address, 3. open dispenser on new address.... and make sure to use a "counterparty 2.0" wallet to trigger the dispenser..... if you do this, then the dispenser will be setup on BOTH ledgers and buyers will receive the tokens on BOTH ledgers..... if you use the origin functionality on counterparty classic, your dispenser will only be setup on the Counterparty Classic ledger.... if you BUY from a dispenser using only BTC and not a counterparty 2.0 wallet with the "dispense" functionality, you will ONLY trigger the dispense on the classic ledger
-
As you can tell, there is some nuanced usage when it comes to using dispensers while replay protection is not implemented on the "Counterparty 2.0" fork.
-
MPMA sends should work perfectly fine on Classic, and should be parsed and transfer assets fine on Counterparty 2.0..... Counterparty 2.0 lost the ability to CREATE mpma sends using P2SH, but it still parses them fine.... so you can use "FreeWallet Classic" to do MPMA sends using P2SH (2txs but way cheaper) and they will be seen fine on "Counterparty 2.0"
