Can't open a dispenser on an address with any CP balance history -
Its hard to believe an exchange would lend their private key out for this purpose 😅 -
They wouldn’t. -
Well if that's the case, the only thing I can think of is they hand-encoded the transaction to find a way around the limitation.
I tried opening a dispenser on that address in Freewallet, couldn't do it, and the web wallet won't let you choose the dispenser address. -
On a protocol level, could you theoretically send an XCP asset first then later add a dispenser to that specific address you sent to? even if you didnt have the keys? ... or would the address ITSELF need to do a Counterparty transaction first?
and how related is it to the "Public key was neither provided nor published in blockchain" message when using Freewallet? which happens when the address has no BTC history associated with the address -

the "public key was neither provided nor published" is not really an issue... it is just CP telling you taht it can't use that address because the public key has not been disclosed yet.... the public key can be passed via the API... just gotta update freewallet to do so... but, this is not realy an issue which comes up very often... only time it comes up is first time your trying to use a brand new address

I will be creating a discussion in the coming day or so on github to discuss the idea of moving from the "check if address has any CP balance history" model... to what I believe would be a better model... which is requiring the person opening the dispenser to proove they own the address they are trying to open the dispenser on (via a signed message prolly)..... this would prevent this "spammy" type of behavior where people are able to open up dispensers on addresses they dont own.... also this method could be used to allow a SOURCE address to refill/close dispensers on a different address.... provided they can proove they own the message

yes, this is why it will be proposed as a discussion... to weigh the pros n cons... personally, I think the benefits would far outweigh any downside... but we should def keep some way for ppl to create dispensers on burn addresses :)... perhaps some compromise where we can verify a burn address

since a burn address has an invalid private key (and couldnt sign messages anyway) could there be a way to detect that?

either way.... I think more ppl will want to OPEN/REFILL/CLOSE dispensers on multiple addresses from a single address.... than those who will want to open an xcp-20 dispenser and "burn" BTC 🙂

Yes you can “reset” a token supply as long as the token is not locked and your in control of 100% of the supply.

Yeah, unluckily for me, they did it when I was extremely sick in hospital and trying to sell XCP in a hurry to pay the hospital bills.
Their support people were just awful to deal with.
Some things aren't easily forgotten.
Anyway, if I had more liquidity currently, I would try to get XCP listed on another exchange... I'll see if I can get any interest from any of the Indonesian exchanges when I'm at CoinFest Asia in 10-11 days time. -

This is backwards:

I would re-write as follows:

i would assume a bitcoin transaction containing OP_RETURN counterparty data could be constructed utilizing the nLockTime parameter which would allow execution on blockheight (i.e. time) - however no wallets that I know of have that capability. You would beed to construct the txn manually

CP NFTs really have a place in history and it is so sad that they are always overlooked when people write about the NFT antiquities (Sotheby's included).
At some point we should probably ask Sotheby's to publicly retract/revise their description of Quantum in the auction, as it is often referenced and needs to give credit to CP assets that came first. -

One of my many issues is not only my health & exhaustion, but the fact that I have terribly small windows of "free" time. I work full time in an extremely anxiety inducing and soul sucking job, on the phone with seniors with health issues and I'm the one constantly delivering the bad news that their Medicare... well... doesn't CARE.
So my learning windows are small and by then I'm literally in either a trance or in a fugue state. -
-But... I understand I have to DL or install Freewallet. I can't use mobile because it hurts too much, so I have to use everything on desktop versions.
-Once Freewallet is installed, I assume I have to ... uh preloaded with bitcoin, right? (installing and preloading I have not done...of course...)
-I understand that any digital file has to be uploaded somewhere... (I think Davesta was kind enough to send me the link for easyasset.art)
-The digital file loading to some place like easyasset has a fee?
-if so, how does it get paid?
-does it get paid from freewallet's preloaded funds?
-if that fee is just for the uploading/hosting of your graphic design... how does the minting process itself work, & does that have it's own fee as well?

yes but not $$, BTC specifically. You will also need to use that Bitcoin to buy XCP, which is required to mint Alphabetical assets (tokens that you can name whatever you want)

As u can see, with #SleeplessBrain1, it took me several days just to learn and create the animation itself, as simple and rudimentary as it may look!
So playing around with freewallet and connecting the instructions from the FAQ, as in like... seeing those FAQs come to life as I practice... that's gonna take me, ahem...some time.
I will figure out, one way or another! how to carve the time it takes!!!
I did achieve making that 1st gif... from not knowing how to do it AT ALL.... I have to persevere and have faith. -

all depends on how much of a tx fee you paid... if you paid a really low tx fee, then your tx could just not be being seen

During each episode of the Let's Talk Bitcoin podcast, there was a "magic word" somewhere during the ep. If you entered it on their website while logged in, your BTC address was awarded a certain amount of tokens.
There was actually a decent market for them at some point. I forget what their utility was, but people wanted 'em... I sold most of mine in 2015. -
The podcast host, Adam Levine, called it an "attention-based economy", as you were rewarded for basically "proof" of paying attention to the podcast.
