I am having an issue with counterparty. Although I have some XCP in my account, through the web version of both counterwallet.coindaddy.io & wallet.counterwallet.io, my balance is being dispalyed as 0. Hence I cannot place any orders that involves XCP. On the other hand, I can see my XCP balance through xchain & freewallet. In freewalet, I can also place XCP orders. My current issue is that I would like to place a buy order for a pair (that there is no buying history). Hence, I cannot do it through freewallet (because I cannot see the pair), and also I cannot do through web counterparty wallets. Any thoughts? my addy: 1EAECn7nzqMbk7FD3qa1dvbYkWj58iSV69
  • @tweetious #33121 09:13 AM, 02 Feb 2019
edit: I have some open orders in XCP, and I can see the correct escrow sum in the counterparty web version wallets (as Escr: total, in the XCP asset field). However, my current XCP balance shows as 0
  • @tweetious #33124 09:29 AM, 02 Feb 2019
so I cannot place any buy orders in XCP, since the above field is always locked in any XCP buy order pair.

Issue 2: sometimes, I am getting the error "failoverAPI: Call failed (across all servers). Method: get_markets_list; Last error: undefined" at random times....
  • @tweetious #33125 09:32 AM, 02 Feb 2019
^^ @jdogresorg ? (+ extra bonus question LOL: the history field in freewallet is broken, because of the blocktrail site is down? did you collect/parse the history transactions info from there?
  • checking your address... it seems all your XCP is on escrow orders
  • https://xchain.io/address/1EAECn7nzqMbk7FD3qa1dvbYkWj58iSV69 you can see in the balances that I have 11.89 XCP (that it is not in escrow). Same amount displays freewallet (+ I am able to use that amount only through freewallet i. e. It is spendable not locked). So in reality I have 11.89 XCP + 14.25 XCP (in escrow open orders). However, counterparty web wallets shows xcp balance 0
  • You can make an order from a pair with no history on book of orbs simple dex app.
  • @tweetious #33131 02:19 PM, 02 Feb 2019
You mean this one? It's down...
  • @tweetious #33133 02:21 PM, 02 Feb 2019
On BoO app (not the above simple dex link, but in the app) I can make transactions only with supported assets (i.e. I cannot buy kaleidoscope assets)
  • @tweetious #33134 02:24 PM, 02 Feb 2019
It's frustrating becouse I cannot also put any sell order pair (in xcp) with no prior history transaction (through freewallet)
  • @tweetious #33135 02:26 PM, 02 Feb 2019
It's strange since freewallet uses the coindaddy wallet api, and I can see different xcp balances in each one
  • @tweetious #33136 02:27 PM, 02 Feb 2019
Prolly either @chiguireitor or @jdogresorg might be able to give me a solution
  • @jdogresorg #33137 03:21 PM, 02 Feb 2019
So.... in freewallet Exchange interface you can navigate to any pair, reguardless of if the pair already exists or not... click exchange, then in the searchbox type ASSET1/ASSET2 then press search.... that will navigate to the market pair and you can then place an order.... by default Freewallet only displays market pairs which have at least 1 trade executed... but you can navigate directly to any market using the above ASSET1/ASSET2 search method
  • @jdogresorg #33138 03:22 PM, 02 Feb 2019
Also.. yes... blocktrail is down.... prolly dead since it was bought up by Bitmain, and they started migrating people to their BTC.com API a while ago...... My gut says it is dead for good.... and yes, it is what I use in freewallet to get BTC balance information, which is why freewallet is having issues showing BTC balance and transaction history..... I am working on an updated version of freewallet which will be released shortly (sometime next week)
  • Awesome! I didn't knew that & it works!!! :-) Also, any thoughts of why web counterparty wallets show 0 balance in my XCP assets?
  • @jdogresorg #33140 06:06 PM, 02 Feb 2019
hrm.... perhaps indexd is failing to return a balance... you might want to try on xcpkey.com which I believe is still running an older version of counterparty/counterwallet.
  • @tweetious #33141 06:18 PM, 02 Feb 2019
so possible the recent counterparty upgrade, caused the issue? ohh well... I 'll try xcpkey, but for the moment, I can do my job with freewallet. Keep up the good work (+ looking forward for the updated mobile version)

you should check that: bitcoin is synced, indexd is synced, counterparty is synced and counterblock is synced
  • @jdogresorg #33351 09:14 PM, 12 Feb 2019
first you need to let bitcoin sync all the way... then let node sync all the way (3-5 days)... then you can let counterparty sync... then counterblock

  • @krostue #33373 10:59 PM, 12 Feb 2019
the ability to be effective is not currently supported by the main service of XCP. freewallet is a private solution that is more up to date than the current github for standard counterwallet.
  • Because trading with BTC on counterparty DEX is wack. Only freewallet does it in a reasonable way IMO.
  • @mightbemike #33378 11:09 PM, 12 Feb 2019
You can't just put up an order and leave it like other pairs on DEX, you need to stay online while other part completes the deal. Yes freewallet dev is @jdogresorg
  • The only part of the wallet interface which is behind a paywall is the exchange... because it relies heavily on the xchain APIs that I wrote.... can't release it publicly and have people beat on my servers without covering my operating costs. You can use counterwallet.io for trading on the DEX... but as you have discovered, BTC trading on the DEX is a real pain cuz you have to pay the BTC in an extra step and within 20 blocks of an order match.... Freewallet.io desktop wallet has a built in Auto-BTCpay feature to make BTC operate on the DEX just like every other pair... place the order and forget about it.
  • @jdogresorg #33381 11:14 PM, 12 Feb 2019
I'll be putting out a new release this week which fixes the BTC balance issue and makes getting a FULLACCESS or XCHAINPEPE token for BTC or XCP easier 🙂
  • Hrm... you might want to try uninstalling the fednode entirely and then reinstalling... looks like your indexd source code is not being pulled down as it should be..... fednode uninstall... then rm -rf ~/federatednode/src... then fednode install full master
  • @jdogresorg #33384 11:19 PM, 12 Feb 2019
also.. be sure to do a git pull in the fednode directory... to make sure you have the latest fednode code as well... do this before you run the fednode install full master command.

is there still a CIP on the horizon for resetting divisibility?
  • @jdogresorg #33400 06:34 PM, 13 Feb 2019
CIP - Reset Token & Divisibility Statuses for Unused Asset

It would be great to hear what you think before formalizing a CIP. If the asset owner holds the entire supply and the asset is not locked, then allow the owner to reset the supply (e.g. set the supply at zero) and change the divisibility status. This can be achieved with a function reset(asset, issuance, divisibility). Asset must be the name of an asset owned by address making the call. Issuance is the new total number of issued tokens. Divisibility is boolean; true if divisible, false if indi...

  • @jdogresorg #33401 06:34 PM, 13 Feb 2019

frankly move it or use it. imho, and im going to have to add to the thread is that unused && (undistibuted or zero issuance or no tx out of the owner account) unlocked assets need to be auto-reset by the system after a decent amt of time... say five years (in blocks of course)?

lock your asset, you can keep your asset

so many good names suck in wallets that have no activity. they should be able to be controlled by someone who will actually use them for something besides squatting
  • when i created it i made it divisible...what i need it for, it can't be divisible.
  • @jdogresorg #33409 07:05 PM, 13 Feb 2019
Changing the properties of an asset will be doable in the future if you hold 100% of the supply of the asset.
  • @krostue #33410 07:05 PM, 13 Feb 2019
i have to get knee deep to write a full response knowing what the CIP exactly outlines. imho there should not only be a reclaim feature in editing 100% controlled assets, but ALSO
the system should auto reclaim the availability of the large swath of namespace held in wallets that competed in the namerush but left the system. wallets that whose private key is long lost, or the owner is dead.
  • @krostue #33411 07:06 PM, 13 Feb 2019
in such a case users can keep all the unlocked unused assets by updating the desc or SOME form of activity to prove life
  • @krostue #33412 07:07 PM, 13 Feb 2019
i think it is fair to require squatted names have activity at least once in four years
  • @krostue #33413 07:07 PM, 13 Feb 2019
any activity on the system would postpone reclaim, imho
  • @jdogresorg #33414 07:07 PM, 13 Feb 2019
Good luck getting consensus on that one
  • @krostue #33415 07:10 PM, 13 Feb 2019

  • @GusGrillasca #33417 07:21 PM, 13 Feb 2019
Another option is to open the nomenclature of asset names to a wider format, like including numbers
  • Why are they not case sensitive anyway?
  • @mightbemike #33420 08:28 PM, 13 Feb 2019
    Why not 3-letter assets?
  • I can see why people would object to this on the basis of being confusing, I'm just saying it always feels a little like I'm being forced to use Windows.

  • @krostue ↶ Reply to #33414 #33423 08:31 PM, 13 Feb 2019
yes. after reflecting you are correct. it needs to be its own CIP
AUTOREAPER benefits will outweigh the criticisms, and ultimately bring new users or use to the parts of the system that are not, and very well will not be used
  • There will be others who come along and say, "Not only for unused in n years, but I think we should also take assets away for reason X"
  • @krostue #33428 08:37 PM, 13 Feb 2019
Not simply "unused in years": unused at all ever; just registered and deserted
    not locked
    not shared
    not sold &&
    not transferred
  • @krostue #33429 08:38 PM, 13 Feb 2019
And updating the description would qualify as activity
  • @krostue #33430 08:39 PM, 13 Feb 2019
Ideally it would be after multi send and after this personal reclaim is established...
  • @mightbemike #33431 08:39 PM, 13 Feb 2019
There must be a time threshhold - otherwise an asset I registered the month before this takes effect would be elligible. Also, what about just gaming the system - once every n years - a day, I transfer it to another address of mine and back.
  • @krostue #33432 08:39 PM, 13 Feb 2019

  • @krostue #33434 08:41 PM, 13 Feb 2019
Systematically this should eliminate any Contender except for those assets which are registered and lay dormant for four years without any activity
  • @krostue #33435 08:41 PM, 13 Feb 2019
But because of the time since launch of the project the length of expiration should be a fair at 5 or 6 years

    Hello guys!
  • @790340998 #33571 03:04 PM, 20 Feb 2019
No advertising meant, just thought some of you might be interested. There is a blockchain project that is seeking to be sold. The project has a cross-platform MVP in place, mobile apps, a fundraising platform. The project is well-packaged, has a great design, active social profiles (thousands of followers). Resellers are welcome.
  • You don't really need to run a fednode unless you need to interact with Counterparty for a project or you want to verify CP information yourself directly.... Your more than welcome to run a node, and running a bitcoin node helps make the BTC network stronger, but since counterparty runs on top of Bitcoin and does not communicate with other Counterparty nodes, there is really no need to run a fed node.

    Great news @jdogresorg
  • @bigwormcrypto #33588 07:59 PM, 21 Feb 2019
Any enlightenment on all the unconfirmed transactions? I made some dex orders that are pending for 8 days now. Will these go through you think? If not, how long until they come back?
  • @bigwormcrypto #33589 08:02 PM, 21 Feb 2019
Is it just memepool backup or something else?
  • Some ppl are sending with a really low fee... those transactions are entering the xchain mempool... but are not being propagated to other nodes... probably because the tx fee is soo low.... I've had this happen to a few of my txs as well recently
  • @jdogresorg #33592 08:13 PM, 21 Feb 2019
You can use a non-cp wallet and send all your BTC directly to your address... that will effectively use up the UTXOs that are in the "pending" transactions... once the network detects that the UTXOs in the pending transactions are no longer valid, they will drop out of the mempool
  • @jdogresorg #33593 08:14 PM, 21 Feb 2019
haven't narrowed in on exactly why some txs aren't being relayed to other nodes.... prolly has to do with the fee being below minrelayfee on other nodes.... but, it is related to using way low fees
  • @jdogresorg #33594 08:14 PM, 21 Feb 2019
    use 0.00001 and your fine
  • @bigwormcrypto #33595 08:15 PM, 21 Feb 2019
    Ok thanks for update
  • How long until it gets kicked back without doing this step
  • Transactions expire after 15 days.... but... any new transactions you send out will try to use the UTXOs from the previous pending transactions.... which means, even if you try to send a higher fee tx now... it will still rely on the older pending TX to confirm before the UTXO becomes spendable...... TL;DR... best to move all your BTC back to your own wallet (with a non-CP wallet) and then send txs with decent fees
  • @jdogresorg #33601 08:19 PM, 21 Feb 2019
If this continues to be a problem I'll dig into it some more... I've sent 500 satoshi txs in the past without any issues... but started having problems with them a few weeks back
  • same here.... found out the problem is that the low fee situation is hitting the dust limit for tx relay
  • @bigwormcrypto #33603 08:28 PM, 21 Feb 2019
Ok sounds good. Now I know
  • @bigwormcrypto #33604 08:29 PM, 21 Feb 2019
Previously I thought the wallets would not allow you to make a send with too low of a fee but maybe that maybe is different criteria to get that warning
  • @bigwormcrypto #33605 08:29 PM, 21 Feb 2019
I’m in no rush so I’ll wait till they expire and then use higher fees
  • @104473096 #33606 08:30 PM, 21 Feb 2019
afaik this behaviour is kinda new.... prolly something changed from 0.17 and dust limits are enforced to prevent spam

Post your order on the XCP/BTC DEX if your serious about selling. Doing an OTC trade with some anonymous internet person is a great way to get ripped off.

If you find someone who is willing to trade OTC with you, more power to ya.... just not something I would advise people do.

theDEX is the best third party, imho

  • @heunland #33685 05:03 PM, 25 Feb 2019
whoever makes OTC trades with anyone please be sure that person that is assigned to be holding the escrow is really an actual person you can trust. Just because someone claims to be a group admin that doesnt necessarily make it true. I do not see what is the advantage of taking a chance on an OTC trade rather than just posting the offer on our DEX and advising your buyer that the offer is ready to be filled? This is what the DEX is for, why not use it?
  • @heunland #33688 05:08 PM, 25 Feb 2019
I am not interested in escrowing with some unknown person when I can do my trades completely trustless with the DEX
  • @heunland #33690 05:12 PM, 25 Feb 2019
I have made probably thousands of trades on the DEX and never had any of my tokens be stolen/hacked or otherwise lost. On the other hand, I have been burned by OTC deals so I have learned my lesson.
  • @heunland #33692 05:12 PM, 25 Feb 2019
    exactly 😂
  • @krostue #33694 05:13 PM, 25 Feb 2019
    is that a statement?
  • @krostue #33696 05:14 PM, 25 Feb 2019
wow. why use a questionmark then?
  • @krostue #33698 05:15 PM, 25 Feb 2019
    sure
  • Yes we see this. We also know that nothing is preventing you from going to counterwallet.io and posting the XCP for sale on the DEX.... Crypto trading may be banned in your country, but it is not ACTUALLY preventing you from listing the XCP for sale on the DEX.... that is the beauty of a DECENTRALIZED exchange
  • @jdogresorg #33700 05:20 PM, 25 Feb 2019
As you may be able to tell, numerous people here are against OTC trades for good reason, even if you say your going to escrow with an admin..... no admins in this channel would want to hold funds for you when you could easily just post the order on the DEX

Hi, I am not sure if this is allowed and if it’s not I apologise but I wanted to issue a warning to all crypto investors and traders. There is a certain couple of people who it seems, very convincing are scam ppl of their money on a group call Athena Trading Group. The run fake company and take monies from noobish investor and then you never see money again.

This is just announcement to be wary out in the Wild West Crypto world because lot of shady ppl around waiting to take you money.
  • @heunland #33790 04:16 PM, 28 Feb 2019
thanks for the warning, we get plenty of scammers in this and other legit project groups trying to scam people by various methods, so we will add this to our long list of undesirables to look out for.
