If anyone has any suggestion: I am trying to create a dispenser but it is stuck in "generating counterparty transaction". I have the fee set to $5. I am not running the latest version because mac os won't let me download it. "Apple could not verify “FreeWallet” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy." the transaction just stalls and then i can cancel. for some reason it wont creatt he dispenser. any suggestions are greatly appreciated

You can try running freewallet, and when you get the error message go to settings, privacy and security scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click open anyway ….. this is how it is always been for free wallet…

You need to make sure you’re running the latest version of free wallet as there has been many changes to counterparty over the last year or so

The fork was due to not being able to buy using plain BTC txs instead of custom “dispense” txs, and losing the origin functionality (ability to open a dispenser on a new/empty address in a single tx, and close and return funds to origin address in a single tx)

Coulda added everything we have now without breaking dispensers… but we are where we are now🤷🏻‍♂️

Unfortunately that is the way it is now. Working within the context of how dispensers work now, its possible to open dispensers in two txs on a separate address using legacy send and compose dispenser.

More interestingly, the fact that taproot is supported it’s possible to make dispenser addresses that are separate but use the same pubkey, where that separate address is generated with a script of <dispenser number> OP_DROP <pubKey> OP_CHECKSIG. Hundreds of dispenser addresses could be deterministically generated and easily used since the pubkey doesn’t change so the user doesn’t even need to change addresses to sign the txs.

If someone builds that the ux could become much more user friendly

I started making an app that allows you to use whatever wallet you want and generate counterparty txs. Currently it supports unisat, leather, okx, free wallet and electrum. (For FW and electrum you have to manually sign the txs so it’s not the best solution but I’m working with what’s available)

It’s not very polished and there will be bugs, but as far as I know, it’s about the only way to use a major web wallet with counterparty (unless you’re going to manually generate your own txs)

There was a time where I had to tune out a lot of the chatter so I could concentrate on real life hierarchy of needs. So I might not be familiar with every intricacy but my summation still is a valid all-encompassing explanation as far as I see.

strange... the update code runs every minute and should parse in the data into mysql in that time... xcp.io always works because it parses data directly from a counterparty instance... which is fine for a low-amount of requests, but if your talking about thousands of requests, doesn't really scale well at all... hence why the data on tokenscan.io is optimized in an indexed database.... anyway, glad it shows synced up for you again.... prolly has something to do with 703 issuances being parsed in a single block... indexing the data can sometimes take a lil bit when indexing many txs in a single block

I saw that, very cool. It’s not finished but I have code at XCP/extension.

Rather than have new people download new wallets, i think it makes more sense if they can just use what they have. So this repo does all the tx generation and handling. If you use any of those web wallets, you can just go there, click a button or two and sign the txs. If you use electrum you have the copy then generated hex and manually sign and broadcast.

No one else was making it and the tooling is… lacking… at the moment. so I figured I would do it. Feel free to fork it or use the code however you want

Counterparty gang very quiet during this op return business sad

tbh i can’t follow it for the life of me. i know im obviously less technically inclined so that’s on me, but i can’t tell what’s going on particularly even though i know its related to people complaining re art in bitcoin partially

There was a default node policy rule of like 40 bytes that become 80 bytes which I think it’s just being raised higher by default or not being limited beyond the fee rates.

But there’s a lot of code design within Counterparty to work below 80 bytes. Without that limit you could approach multisends differently.

You could potentially issue multiple assets in one txs. Not a ton of it matters.

Just that the issue is raised to a high level of visibility and it would be a fine time to inject counterparty into that.

The most visible mentions of Counterparty in this so far are from Hell Money pod because I’ve successfully counterparty-pilled them. Was on their pod and connected them to Adam who was also on their pod.

And the knots people want pure coin but it’s led by Luke who you’d need to be a real dunce to follow.

could be it was broadcast with a low tx fee.. so the local cp/bitcoin node broadcast the tx and see it... but the rest of the bitcoin network does not see the tx as it is not being relayed to other nodes... would explain why you could see on tokenscan.io but not on other bitcoin block explorers..... when in doubt, try again with a higher tx fee
