The amount of data that can be stored in the blockchain is capped by the block size. Once the blocks fill up people will bid for space via higher fees. This is why there was a big debate about block size years ago -

The only thing that matters is the power of narrative. That’s how expired Namecoin records went from worthless to having value. It really comes down to compelling storytelling. Ordinals has that plus a lot of controversy which is also good. It’s the Streisand effect: if you tell people something is bad and they shouldn’t do it… guess what happens? -

Counterparty doesn't store an ID. It's storing actual data in OP_RETURN, but that data is typically a image pointer to an http server somewhere, given the limited amount of space. An ID implies that there is a corresponding record in a "Counterparty" database and that the data is not onchain. Someone once tried to span a jpeg's data across multiple counterparty txns as a test. Theoretically, you could write some software that reassembles all that OP_RETURN data and render a jpeg. Not saying this is a good or even practical idea, but possible.

Also digital art can also take the form of something like a vector rather than a jpeg or even a single symbol (which were selling like hotcakes on namecoin). Those types of things are definitely onchain.

If NORMAN has deleted all the messages pertaining to the agreement, and he cannot demonstrate any other deals for which that BTC was for payment of, then he will have no leg to stand on.

So I and others trying to view the Asset I recently connected the json to are having a strange thing happening.
Wen I connected the json it wouldnt show me the image or video but the other text was there.
Checked on my other computer and it was there but I was on vpn.
Turned vpn on the main computer and it showed up.
Cleared cash and all that stuff but without vpn on it doesn't show up.
A person I asked to look at on there end said the same thing.
Anyone else experienced this. Would love to know. -

no... no RBF support in CP currently... but you can always do child-pays-for-parent.... ie, if your waiting on a tx to confirm and the fee is too low.... do another TX with a higher fee... the second tx with the high fee SHOULD force the first tx to confirm... assuming that the second tx uses an output from the first tx.

so the fee on the child pays for parent tx is split across the 2 unconfirmed txs .. allowing you to increase the effective fee rate on the initial tx without rbf

your daisy-chaining your txs... which is fine... but after about 15 levels deep, you will get errors... can only chain so many transactions before the network rejects the new tx until some of the older ones have confirmed

You might want to consider using MPMA multi-send..... I see you have 25 individual sends pending... you could have sent all of those txs in a single MPMA send tx

next time check out the "multi send" tab..... it will save you a bunch on fees if you group your sends instead of doing a bunch of individual sends 🙂

Counterparty encodes additional info ( send, issue, order, dispenser, etc) into normal Bitcoin transactions…. Then when the tx is mined, Counterparty parses in the additional info and performs the action after some validity checks…. Counterparty’s history and state are maintained in a SQLite database internally
