I would have to dig back thru everything but it could be that the 1CCjp6pKDytKsru7AeQoRgDe68bN6fLj4t address was an imported address but once imported it should always stay with the wallet correct?
-
-
no. i tried that recently with my phone maybe a few weeks ago
-
and it never worked on my phone
-
imported addresses are not derived from seed
-
-
-
-
gotta find it. i have never had it not show up
-
what would make it no longer be imported?
-
-
i log out every day
-
its always been there when i log back in
-
Not if you log out.
-
-
yes i know
-
-
-
cuz it asks every time if i wrote the phrase down
-
well either way it was always there
-
but if i recall it was an imported one.
-
-
so now I just have to find where that was originally which might have been metamask
-
-
well its never been gone before and I log out every time
-
and have never had to import it but the first time.
-
funny enough it was exactly 1 year ago today that I created and imported the address to freewallet and got my first xcp nft
-
-
well that pk is gone i destroyed it after i imported it
-
Passphrases don’t change on their own and the same 12-word passphrase should always generate the same addresses…. Not sure what ur issue is related to but it def is not something normal…. I use the same passphrase on multiple devices n desktops n all bring up the same addresses as expected.
-
i thought importing it was all i needed to do
-
so all the assets are lost
-
-
-
i imported the pk into freewallet
-
Wrong! Once you reset a wallet or logout, you have to re-import any private keys not from the 12-word passphrase
-
thought it would stay in there
-
well i have logged out many times and have only ever entered the 12 word passphrase in the past
-
but the address 1CCjp6pKDytKsru7AeQoRgDe68bN6fLj4t was always in the address list as "imported"
-
to import you have to provide the key
-
so I imported the key and thought that was it.
-
Hrm… perhaps your on an old version of freewallet which didn’t fully reset address lists after logging out.
-
I do have an old version
-
it wont let me update it
-
when i click download it fails
-
either way i had that pk for all of maybe 10 mins from creation to import to fw to shred
-
Nowhere did anything tell u to import s private key once and then u were good forever…. It’s on u to keep your 12-word passphrase n private keys safe
-
So download it outside the wallet n install
-
Freewallet.io
-
have tried
-
either way, i misunderstood the import
-
sorry to hear that... an expensive lesson... but I bet you will always keep youre 12-word passphrases and private keys safe from now on going forward
-
not expensive really
-
good
-
i didnt pay for any of the nfts
-
they were all gifts and i never sell anything bitcoin related
-
so i never would have sold em
-
In case anyone is interested : a large buyer is currently willing to buy a bunch of XCP at 10200 sats

I am updating my description of https://xchain.io/asset/HONESTABE to change the image size from 2000x2800 to 800x1120 but idk what's happening but it doesn't change event I update the description twice, anyone can't help? tysm🙏
-
This is a Collection card. Once a card is in a Collection the image is controlled by the Collection's master JSON image pointer.
-
You can verify this by looking at the pointer. It's currently cached on xchain: https://xchain.io/img/cards/HONESTABE.jpg
-
Thank you!😊 so means, A collection admin has access to update the image size?
-
or dev?
-
images in projects should be submitted once, approved or rejected, and taht is it...... project artwork is not meant to change... as it is a MANUAL thing that has to be done on the servers..... when you submit artwork to a project, make sure it is the final artwork, cuz you wont be able to change it after the fact.
-
-
ok so once the card is added to my json file its locked resolution? Like say the card was done incorrectly then description was re-issued before I added to json file would it be ok at that point? Sorry I didnt realize this either
-
I can manually remove the file from the db and file system on the xchain servers in special cases…. It it’s a manual thing, and already wasting time doing 5-10 of these “oops” mistake fixes a week… thinking of allowing projects 1-2 updates per month… then charging per update…. Like I said, it’s wasting a bunch of my time.
-
Not a big deal to fix every once in a while… but 30+ projects n the changes add up😜
-
Prolly should automate updates I spose… will add to my todo list
-
-
-
-
When the fix file token dispenser?
-
jdog the problem for me was the change that removed the high res version from auto displaying
-
this meant that I had to update the asset which meant yeah unfortunately to take your time
-
yeah... I stopped supporting html in asset descriptions months ago because it was a security issue automatically running user-provided HTML code.... tho with CIP25 you have a method to provide all the images / audio / video files you want, as well as provide custom HTML that can display your content exactly as you want.
-
I understand not wanting to display high res btw, just it meant that I need to update a few things
-
had nothing to do with not wanting to display high-res images... had to do with the fact taht someone could inject javascript/html code into the description and have it automatically run in your browser.... big security hole... you still can do taht, but now I make the user click a button to run stuff rather than automatically doing so via description field.
-
more about making things safe for users than trying to make it more difficult... sucks some stuff broke, but I did my best to write code to auto-translate old json to CIP25 and keep displaying content.... so the ONLY thing that should not be working is html in descriptions... unfortunately taht is where most people put their "click here for hi-res version" link... which no longer works.... but, the high res version should be linked below in the images section 🙂
-
just send me a DM with the assets you want me to update and i'll get it sorted 🙂
-
huh? not sure what your speaking of.... DM me or github link to issue pls
-
Ha no issue, a token people need to buy and redeem to request a file fix

Does anyone else feel like all this attention around ordinals is a concerted effort to drive attention away from counterparty?
-
They act as if nfts on Bitcoin didn’t exist before now
-
“NFTs”
-
Or am I wrong in viewing it this way?
-
-
Link
@jokoono counterparty uses OP_RETURN to create an L2. it also requires XCP token. Ordinals use the pre-existing identifiers of sats, that can be sent just like any other bitcoin transaction. the NFT can also be stored onchain using taproot witness data. (counterparty NFTs are off chain).
-
-
This guy for starters
-
Link
oh no they figured it out
-
Yeah, I mean, it makes for a good engaging tweet. Honestly, I think ordinals will be good for Counterparty as will spark NFT interest.
-
Fair enough
-
I think it’s gonna to the opposite
-
-
Yeah it’s just frustrating to see people act like counterparty is “completely different” to Bitcoin 😂😂😂
-
And people believe them
-
But whatever
-
-
-
Yeah, I see where the frustration comes from but that's just marketing. Spot the smallest difference and harp on it to get users.
-
Rinse and repeat
-
Use the ordinals method to upload your content into the witness script on chain, then tokenize that with Counterparty. Best of both worlds.
-
Yeah, I suppose so
-
I think its highly interesting and informative, but the Porteaux article is 100% marketing for Ordinals. I read through it, saw that he made incorrect assertions about Counterparty (it has "fallen out of use") and OP_RETURN ("OP_RETURN is hardly used except when I write haikus or make protest statements"), but was still generally excited about it

-
-
How long before someone encodes porn or something worse using this taproot approach?
-
At least counterparty separates the actual media from the tokens so there's a way to moderate content
-
Its already happened but in the form of links
-
-
Right, what about when it's actually illegal media embedded?
-
-
You think they're going to want to monitor things 24/7? That's a full time job
-
-
-
This is going to be a shitshow
-
-
Yeah, but it's not permanent, those images live on ephemeral servers not immutable Blockchains
-
-
Will be interesting for sure
-
But ultimately I think counterparty has the better approach as an L2 protocol
-
Who do you suggest should fund the Binance listing fees?
-
Agreed... I'm all for keeping the blockchain of reasonable size.
If it becomes a big enough problem then there might actually be some kind of adjustment to disable it in the next release of Bitcoin Core.
It won't be because lukedashj wanted it tho. -
Just fyi tho, the data is being stored in the witness part of the taproot transaction, so it can be pruned by the nodes without any forking. Just like op_returns are pruned. So it's not a huge issue in terms of storage. It may make blocks fuller though, but that's fair play
-
I have no issue with them highjacking taproot to store data. What I take issue with is thinking it will make for a good NFT platform
-
-
There is potentially some drama around the fact that taproot witness data pays a discounted fee... But that goes off into technical minutia. If anything, that might be what gets adjusted if this takes off
-
If not, counterparty should consider moving its data storage to taproot transactions as well to save on fees
-
even when pruned, they are still transactions being recorded to the blockchain that wouldn't be there if the whole thing wasn't possible.
it will be interesting to see if it achieves any modicum of popularity. if it does there may be some response from (active) developers. in which case changes to Counterparty would be hasty. -
Won’t be able to get on binance for a while even if there was a budget
-
They’re under a lot of regulatory pressure/scrutiny
-
xcp on binance brings zero value imo.

btw is sending btc from freewallet desktop to segwit address no longer working? i swear it used to...

-
just had a quick look - there's been zero demand for this token as far as I can see
-
-
-
actually NOT way off... BTC floor price comes open DEX BTC orders OR from cheapest dispenser for this token for BTC.... if you look at dispensers, you can see a dispenser for 0.0001 BTC... which matches the BTC Floor price
-
I should put some question mark icons next to the BTC/XCP Price/Floor fields... so ppl can hover over and see where each price comes from.
-
-
Can you make multiple dex sell orders from a single wallet?
-
@jdogresorg dm 🙏
-
Yes.
-
Hey, what you guys think of this? http://ordinals.com/
-
very interesting.. im thinking what if when you made a xcp tx, you could implement the ordinal tx to the btc spend function as a mining fee and then implement xcp on top of new bitcoin blocks?
-
that way you could assign token issuance to new bitcoin blocks thuse making the layers interpoperable on new sats.. seems mega legit
-
would that be possible? i also thought it the info is carried in the utxo then perhaps a similar roottap could be employed for xcp transactions
-
but mostly i just smoke weed

apparently counterparty uses op returns, so the sat association thing doesn't work, because you can't send sats in an OP_RETURN
-
Xcp and ordinals are two very different things. They both store data on the Bitcoin blockchain. Ordinals store everything, including the artwork in the blockchain. Counterparty only stores asset ids, amounts held and holder addresses. Everything else is stored outside the blockchain. Counterparty is a separate l2 protocol. Ordinals are an l1 protocol
-
Counterparty can at some point use taproot sends, but that has nothing to do with either protocol specifically, it's just a transport mechanism
-
The big deal here is that ordinals live 100% on the Bitcoin blockchain and counterparty assets do not. They only use the Bitcoin blockchain to track asset ownership and related metadata
-
Well satoshi stated stuff like this should reside on a side chain like xcp vs how ordinals is working
-
That was the whole purpose for namecoin which failed
-
What are the implications (if any) of all this added data being stored directly on Bitcoin? Wouldn’t that contribute to bloating?
