It's not like there's something to dev, either
-
Multi-send assets in a single bitcoin transaction would be nice
-
-
I believe that MPMA is done, the only issue is that the P2SH data encoding portion of things (needed to encode large amounts of data) is not working properly..... @chiguireitor can verify.
-
can confirm
-
So then it's not done
-
2 separate things.... the ability to encode multiple sends in a single tx (MPMA) is done, but the ability to encode large amounts of data is not yet working.
- 05 January 2020 (10 messages)
-
-
An issuance on payment?
-
Is the encoding problem related to the size of OP_RETURN?
-
Not that I’m aware of... I believe the issue is getting the p2sh tx signed
-
more like the p2sh tx being accepted by the btc node
-
seems the interesting encoding that was being used is now "prohibited" by btc nodes
-
Why can't counterparty migrate to bech32? Too much work?
-
Seems like XCP would benefit from bech32
-
Lower chain weight
-
Cheaper transactions

Is there anyone else in this project?
-
I am a third wallet developer and am currently considering whether to add XCP
-
yes, this is an active project. Your a wallet developer eh? cool.... the APIs at xchain.io/api may be of interest to you in your development 🙂
-
yes
-
Let me research
-
The parameters seem to be the same as btc?
-
Can you give me an xcp? What is the current xcp handling fee?
-
1Dt8ty59tU9LkrXG2ocWeSzKFAY8fu6jga
-
XCP is only needed if your wanting to register a named asset token.... you don't need to hold any XCP to use Counterparty..... Counterparty runs on top of bitcoin, and Counterparty transactions are normal bitcoin transactions, so the fee you pay for your Counterparty/Bitcoin transaction changes depending on how busy the network is and how fast you want your transaction processed.
-
-
There is an example address where you can see some of the token balances for the address.... you can see all history for this address including any recevied tokens, any assets/tokens created or issued, any sends of the token to addresses, etc.
-
The API will allow you to do things like get a list of asset balances for a given address like this....
-
-
Unable to understand, is xcp itself unable to transfer money?
-
Xcp isn't a new network, it's just Bitcoin with additional data in the transactions
-
Old bitcoin
-
ok
-
Then he is not for me
-
Good thing is, implementing XCP lets you access thousands of active tokens

Why can't counterparty migrate to bech32?
-
tfw this has been a feature for a year already

-
Dang that's pretty neat. New wallets should default there

im on a mission to raise the funds needed for our protocol's revival. im planning on making more of a pitch/marketing effort later, using counterparty based cryptoart as rewards for a fundraiser using our tech. in the mean time, id like to start with stuff i know im never going to use... ethereum gTLDs
if any of you know someone who is interested, please link them directly to the bct thread, or perhaps, if you dont mind, you could retweet this for me?

Neither wallets on counterwallet.io are working for me
-
I too had some issues logging in a while ago... indexd seems to be lagging in looking up tx data.... I tried to login a few minutes later (after the data was already cached in indexd), and things loaded up.
-
-
Try logging in, if it doesn't show you the balances page in a minute or two, reload the page and try logging in again.
-
or use an alternate wallet www.counterparty.io/wallets

Any updates on the future of this project? Sure wish the company had those burned Bitcoin tokens back.
-
Makes me think if we took a thousands of gold coins and dropped them into the sea and then told people we were going to symbolize the value of those coins with some replicas, the replicas would have some sort of intrinsic value. No one really would care. People would be sending divers out the next day. Point is, wouldn’t it have been so much better if they put the coins in a reserve, then the minimal value of counterparty would be worth no less than the bitcoin that represents them and potentially a lot more. Instead we have a coin that goes down when bitcoin goes up and down. Just not sure the logic here added up in the end because the bitcoins are lost and the project seems to have gone to hell as well.
-
-
-
There is no company, just an open-source project.
-
-
Useful project: *exists*
Scammers: Why muh coins down? Company should have made scammy ICO, project is dead -

Well they’ve just about lost every listing. I think they completely gave up on the product.
-
-
The listings were already lost, and that’s what prompted the new foundation vote. The idea was there would be go to people to represent the project for exchanges.
The last update I’ve remember hearing from @benchbtc is they were unable to fundraise for fear of Uncle Sam, and the foundation members have not been able to get together to do much due to reasons.
Maybe @wampum @TitaniumP or someone else would like to chime in.
Meanwhile, @chiguireitor and @jdogresorg rolled out an update not too long ago and are still maintaining the project.
There’s always @KaleidoscopeXCP -
Clearly you havent been reading here, you should scroll back a year and read!If by the time you re Done u still feel nothing happens here then feel free to contribute yourself 😎
-
Lets get a nice altcoinyear 2020 😊🚀🤞
-
Btw, there's work ongoing, it's just that we aren't buzzwordy about it
-
Coulda shoulda woulda if the project was scam but it's not it's legit. Development may be lacking but core project still running, working and being used albeit not as much as we would like. The foundation is working at becoming a legal entity before putting forth it's agenda.
-
-
-
indeed, they are being use atm to cover some server expenses and bugfixing work
-
yes the members decided it best for J-Dog to continue to use the funds in order to pay overhead costs for our only explorer and such.
TBH, The narrative in the room currently is disappointing. the members who have been working on the New foundation will give the update when they're ready to.
Rest assured things are happening in the background and there has already been a plan, for quite some time, for a first meeting. However it keeps getting rescheduled before announcement
it's true that no update has gone out. But it is also true that no newsletter has been published since. it was my intention to release an update with the latest newsletter. However for some reason it got pushed back perpetually.
Please be patient for a bit longer. Until then feel free to ask specific questions.
Thanks -
The wallets haven’t been working for me
-
Thx to all who work on and with xcp, most of us are grateful and appreciate your work! Lets get some good vibes and make xcp great again 😀👊
-
-
MXGA hats everyone
-
💪
-
When I go to the "quick login" and type in my password, then click the login button, I just get a loading bar forever. It doesn't actually load the wallet.
-
-
For addresses with a decent amount of history, indexd can take a while to respond, hence it appearing like things hang forever.... might want to try reloading the window and login a second time a minute or two after your first login... at that point the indexd data should be cached and the login should work..... I have to do this on some of my addresses at times cuz of so much tx history.
-
-
To get some XCP, you can go to an exchange like chainrift.com and purchase XCP there, or if you only need a few XCP, you can purchase XCP from a dispenser like https://xchain.io/tx/4a960783ac0594d25da3d65109e4109e7c3c72b7e7adc0d148f57ebc6909e4aa
-
As far as which wallet to use, I believe that book of orbs just uses the Counterparty DEX, so you should be able to purchase using any wallet which integrates with the counterparty DEX..... you can find a list of wallets at www.counterparty.io/wallets
-
Thanks for the reply
-
-
That is one of the issues I’ve been having. I’ve had quite a few. I don’t get a sense many people are trying to use the wallets much.
-
sorry stupid question to receive XCP on CasaTookan must use my btc address?
-
I am not familiar with casatookan... but you can receive XCP or any counterparty asset at any Bitcoin address.... you just need to make sure you have control of the private keys to the address so that you can actually use the address to send tokens, etc.
-
I tried that, it still hangs.
-
any errors displayed in the console?
-
CasaTookan is the same backend as Book of orbs
-
-
-
gateway timeout... that is prolly indexd timing out waiting for a response
-
the .gif 404 you can ignore... but the gateway timeout is prolly the issue
-
-
can you reload the window and try logging in again please
-
If I reload, it doesn't give me the quick access option. Makes me type in my 12 words.
-
so type in your 12 words
-
-
oh geez
-
-
-
any way to go from quick access option back to a 12-word passphrase?... sorry, completely unfamiliar with the counterwallet quick-access feature
-
All the time, bro
-
-
Yep all the time
-
-
I stopped trying because it's so frustrating
-
-
-
-
-
-
Do you think your token customers will be able to figure out Counterparty?
-
-
indexd sucks.... that's the problem
-
we need to swap it out with something better and more supported
-
the option is to switch out of indexd and use esplora (blockstream's explorer)
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
try again, I just restarted counterblock
-
Yep, works now. My hero!!
-
-
-
not that I am aware of
-
-
I don't think you can export the 12 word seed... but you can export the private keys for the addresses in the wallet
-
-
-
according to counterblock, both counterwallet and coindaddy are caught up

try again, just restarted counterblock, again.

What would happen to Counterparty if JDog quit?
-
Tried on mobile browser, still permaloads.

-
Créate a use for or demand for xcp?
-
Yes. Needs another game going viral :)

For sure! Gaming industry is massive 👍even small simple games on Smartphones create quite the hype These days

This is a photoshop. There are no issues with Counterparty wallets. Classic FUD
-
I can't tell if you are being sarcastic
-
-
There are multiple counterwallet servers for a reason... if one is not working, you have others to choose from
-
counterpartyd crashed on the main server, I restarted it, but it is taking a couple hours to catchup
-
meanwhile, the coindaddy counterwallet server is operating fine
-
-
CP should be caught up soon... it is about 100 blocks behind.
-
-
The only people who have issues with Counterparty wallets are the people who use them
-
- 29 January 2020 (15 messages)
-
How long do you think it will take to sync up?
-
Tough to say as sometimes the blocks are parsed fast, and other times they are parsed slow... looks like CP is about 50 blocks behind now
-
-
-
Yeah... counterparty on the counterwallet server seems to run a bunch slower than coindaddy... only real differences between the servers are the coindaddy server has 64 gigs of memory and the CP one has 32 gigs.
-
-
indexd being slow/clunky is the real issue here... slows prettymuch everything down... things ran fine on a 32 GB server when we were running on addrindex... since switching to indexd and a recent version of bitcoind, things seem to have slowed down a bunch.
-
Strange thing is once CP is caught up on this server, then it tends to parse blocks in like under 10 seconds instead of multiple minutes
-
Did it slow down on hte other servers too, or only the counterwallet?
-
slowed down on the other servers too... really slowed down when we switched to current bitcoin core... but seems to be random, some blocks parse fast, others take multiple minutes.
-
-
-
There is the coindaddy server... you can see blocks parsing in 15-30 seconds
-
the latest apsw also made stuff slower
-
if i had deeper understanding of the extent of apsw specific features xcp uses i would be able to try and use the native sqlite driver

What platform will this be taking place on?

Good question... prolly best to ask in the counterpartytalk.org thread so others can see the answer as well 😉

agreed - and i don't think we know yet lol - but yes this is why we wanted the focal point of the annoucment to be on counterpartytalk.org - seems best for archiving conversation about the specific annoucement
