I have formally posted my nomination as a reply to @wampum posted self-nomination... which he had to do as I have been unavailable and have only just been able to register on the forum to post. Hopefully I got that in time to be an official nomination, otherwise, Duncan is self-nominated in any case.

Securities Exchange Act of 1934
With this Act, Congress created the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Act empowers the SEC with broad authority over all aspects of the securities industry. This includes the power to register, regulate, and oversee brokerage firms, transfer agents, and clearing agencies as well as the nation's securities self regulatory organizations (SROs). The various securities exchanges, such as the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ Stock Market, and the Chicago Board of Options are SROs. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is also an SRO.
The Act also identifies and prohibits certain types of conduct in the markets and provides the Commission with disciplinary powers over regulated entities and persons associated with them.
The Act also empowers the SEC to require periodic reporting of information by companies with publicly traded securities.
This affirms what I said about being or having our own SRO in the community. ....... This is why we establish the token nomni to act as the liquidity fiat token for the market. -

Shows the history of XCP elections... :)
-
-
The guy encouraging election interference?
-
Right lol lets do this
-
What are you guys talking about election interference?
-
As I announced in the voting thread, JOE LOONEY will be coming up with the voting status page for the election as we have done in the past.... Why would anyone talk about election interference? Well, perhaps because the stats on this page are wrong already..... Dan's address holds only 9 XCP.... yet he cast 3 votes for 50 XCP each which normally would be invalid... yet on Dan's scoreboard mysteriously all of his votes are valid.
-
-
-
-
๐ค
-
Are you recommending this as a candidate? Have you audited the code?
-
i was just sharing because it seemed to have good info of all the history of other elections. DIdn't mean to start anything.
-
I addressed this in the Bitcorn chat last night. He has escrowed XCP, which I do too. We should be able to vote with those.
-
His numbers are off for even old elections.
-
-
-
only off by like 14,000+ votes on John Villar's votes in the 2017 election
-
I appreciate that Dan was "trying to help", however we have an official scoreboard that we have used in the past and we will continue to use that in the future, as we can be sure that the votes are being calculated according to the rules of this election and past elections.
-
Link please? It will help me decide who to vote for
-
Joe looney is working on getting it setup today... should have it up on rarepepewallet.com tomorrow I believe... just spoke with him about it... he is going to open-source it so that anyone can verify how the vote are being calculated.
-
Joe looney is working on the official one that was used in the past? And the official one will be posted on rare Pepe wallet site?
-
-
I like the idea of checking out the leaderboard before I vote. I think Iโll wait until nearly the last moment to vote though.
-
Correct.... The first few votes were calcuated on blockscan.com... then that explorer went away and for the last few years Joe Looney has helped out by writing the scoreboard and hosting it himself.
-
Probably smart to wait until near the end of the election to see who needs votes and help bump your candidates up if needed ๐
-
It makes sense to me to host it on the official counterparty site. I guess thatโs something for a foundation to decide on though, maybe for next election... the foundation seats will be held for one full year only, right?
-
Correct, current term is one year, tho I imagine that could be changed if the entire foundation voted to do so... but yes, one year is what the term has been in the past, and i think it makes sense to keep term at 1 year..... no term limits to, so someone can run in consecutive years ๐
-
j-dog, are you in charge of Counterparty?
-
You didnโt start anything. Itโs our job.
-
-
-
-
Who decided it was โofficialโ?
-
Wheeler, we have gone over this many times in the past. No, I am not in charge of counterparty, I am simply the person who was elected by the previous foundation to hold the dev funds, and person who was handed over the Counterparty properties when robby left the project. As I have gone over with you MANY times in the past, all the properties and funds are owned by the Counterparty community, funds have been spent only things the CP foundation has voted to spend funds on, and I am happy to hand over control of these properties to whomever the foundation would like.
-
so how do you get to decide what is โofficialโ?
-
Wheeler... well for one, we have used Joes voting board in the past... two we know that his vote calculations follow the rules for the past few elections... and so we will continue to use his scoreboard for this election. If you want to use Dans election scoreboard, feel free to do so, however as I have already shown, his vote calculations are off, so it is not an accurate scoreboard
-
I will not be wasting any more time in this "official" back and forth game with you Wheeler. Good day.
-
You mad
-
Naww, just annoyed that you continue to waste our time here playing your "I am the CEO of Counterparty" and "who is official" games... it gets old... grow up and try actually contributing to CP rather than trolling.
-

-
-
-
-
-
-
I was just saying lets do this project didnt realize I responded to this lol but either positive vibes to all
-
Way*
-
-
Lol
-
-
Did the community vote joeโs scoreboard as โofficialโ? I just donโt follow how a scoreboard became official
-
-
-
So what is your solution?
-
I don't believe anybody should be banned. People need to voice their concerns.
-
Letโs use the same scoreboard from last year ;)
-
You wrong.
-
-
-
He's allowed to say whatever he wants really. It's your choice to listen to him or not
-
or her
-
-
-
-
-
-
You mean the one we used to dissolve the foundation
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Exactly
-
-
-
-
So out of this we've come up with two questions that we need answers to. Number one what happens if our xcp are in escrow, can we still use them to vote? And number two, what scoreboard will the community deem official? Perhaps the nominees should determine which scoreboard is air quotes official.
-
-
-
Thank you.
-
Please remember Ryan Peters is me
-
And xcer is "the other" Ryan
-
In all fairness, Dan marked his scoreboard as unofficial. The vote broadcasts are public, so anyone can create their own scoreboard. It's not a privelege. I thought it was nice to see the old election results, and I imagine Dan would appreciate any feedback to improve what he is presenting for the community.
-
I think any Counterparty leader should be acting to bring this fractioned community together. If someone is working to make tools for the community it should be encouraged weather or not the powers that be sanctioned it with an โofficialโ tag.
-
It seems unfair that people participating in the XCP DEx should lose their voting rights, but I'm not sure about the technicalities of counting the votes.
-
I agree completely and was impressed with Dan's scoreboard however J-Dog brings up a good point that needs to be figured out. Some of the results on that scoreboard do not line up. And what do we do about escrowed coins
-
I agree
-
I can see Dan has 160 XCP in an open order at that address.
-
I agree so what is the solution? Either allow or do not allow escrowed coins for voting
-
๐
-
-
Here's my post asking about it last night
-
If escrowed-XCP clear before the end of the voting period, a double vote could potentially occur. One could create a buy order for an asset only they control with a different address. Once the escrowed-XCP vote is broadcasted, they could fill the order then potentially vote again (or is there a method of voiding addresses that receive XCP during the voting period?).
-
Nah itโs based on balance at the starting block iirc
-
-
-
-
๐ช๐ป
-
-
๐ค
-

-
During this two week voting period:
Owners of addresses with XCP balance may give their votes to one or more candidates by broadcasting a message with the following parameters: 1. text = XCPELECTION + YEAR + Candidate Number, 2. value = votes. The sum total of the values must be less than the XCP balance of the source address at the close of the voting period. A different text other than this may be used to avoid naming conflicts, and alternatively, the voting procedure detailed in CIP 005 may be used once implemented. -

all the recent "concerns" are plainly outlined in one sentence.
-
idgi.
-
-
So opened orders just need to be closed by the end of the voting period?
-
That sums that up
-
I'm still not clear on escrowed-XCP, if they will be counted towards an address's balance or if open orders need to be canceled to be counted.
-
does the sum total equal coins both within, and outside of escrow though?
-
+1 on this question
-
If someone were to fill the order during the voting period, it should invalidate the votes then.
-
Otherwise, they should count. Let's not punish market makers.
-
-
-
-
-
-
Where do escrowed XCP reside? At the source address?
-

-
-

Orders stay open 4 times longer than the voting period. It's petty to have to spend BTC and close open orders.

Nonsense? We're talking about the voting mechanism.

##Section 9.2 Bylaw Amendments:
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the authority to make, alter, amend, or repeal these Bylaws is vested exclusively in the Board of Directors, and may be exercised upon approval of a two-thirds of directors then in office without the vote or consent of any member(s) or third parties except for Section 9.3. -
Fake news been happening long time. This is from Bishopโs Palace in Galveston. The storm was over 100 years ago.
-
No, escrowed funds are taken out of the users wallet and held in escrow on the DEX.... you can verify this by looking at the credits/debits info when placing an order, funds are immediately debited from the balance.
-
Okay, so it is strictly the balance. I think that's wrong, and is there a way to amend that now?
-
gracias for further clarification and backing this up
-
no, cas their is no body to change anything
-
It suppresses votes from market makers.
-
so many markets to make with XCP that those who use it for profit over purpose are willingly relinquishing their rights. Once a year is not too often, imho, to use XCP as the one major unadvertised primary function. Depending on what the user's priorities are I expect the majority of holders to not vote.
-
IF i put my CROPS on theDEX do i get dividends? "no fair, im making the market"
IF i put my XCP on an exchange can I vote? "no fair i bought tnose"
IF i am required to put a hold on 50 XCP to keep on the ballot, then why should it be so far fetched to as the same of voters who want to represent the protocol?
Where each candidate stands, or how each behaves will influence their appeal to the user who takes the time to understand. It is easy to lose sight that objectively speaking, campaigning in this room has its limits. Therefore I would like to propose that any official questions be asked in the Q and A thread. thanks for your consideration today. -
just FYI... dividends ARE paid out to all holders of a token... which includes any of the tokens held in escrow on the DEX or in escrow due to bets... https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib/blob/master/counterpartylib/lib/util.py#L566-L618counterparty-lib/util.py at master ยท CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib

dividends gets its list of holders from the holders() function which takes into account any funds escrowed on the DEX (orders, order_matches, etc) and any funds escrowed in bets.
-
i think this is where some of my confusion came from I feel like i knew this from just using the feature
-
-
-
TTBOMK, if some one would like to ask officially on the thread, my answer would ba along the lines of using the most recent approved code with only changes that are required for it to function correctly, such as updating API of a BTC explorer. There should be no added "features" at this time.
if this means it pulls from escrow similar to divvies, then so be it -

Not a lot of leadership on display here huh.
-
You have some authority?
-
+2
-
from what i'm understanding now, they do not count as they are truely 'debited' from your account when held in orders
-
^
-
-
-
Good thing to clarify before any future elections, if there are any, because expectations could easily be otherwise based on how the CP games tend to work. i.e. it's easy to implement either way, but should be made clear to all before voting starts.
-
A candidate could broadcast 1,000 votes for themselves without having the XCP, then make a decision if they want to actually buy their votes later on before the deadline.
-
Correct, you could do this. The vote would count if at the end voting block the XCP was actually in the address balance and not escrowed.
-
100% Agree with you
-
accusing me of having "no authority" is an illogical response for the insinuation of unethical behaviour. see the cited article above for more information if insight is your actual pursuit.
and yet, crickets -
Iโm interested in knowing amount of XCP in escrow. My feeling is that itโs an inconsequential amount.
I have some XCP in escrow at the moment but not a lot. It might reduce my voting power by 5-10 %. -
What Iโm trying to figure is โhow big of an issue this really is.โ
-
No one has any authority. One of the things I like about the project.
Appeal to authority is the hollowest of justifications. -
-
did my request for valid and honest behaviour constitute as being a director for this whole project? im not sure i follow that "logic."
you want me to add, IMHO to everything i say? just for you @mightbemike ?
talking about obvious things like "you have no authority" is what... ad hominem? Everyone knows there is no official authority here except for tradition, hence the statement above with intention to clarify the situation with factual evidence.
i was pretty sure we have now come to the conclusion that it was inaccurate accounting that was generally not accepted by the community... yet. does the website still stand with this now deceptive information? how long will it? those actions are the authority of the message provided. Simply because my narrative is interpreting events and challenging excuses does not constitute justification for personal attack. If im wrong than please clarify, otherwise, thanks the flattery -
-
-
Wait so where are they when debited? I thought the dex was non-custodial? In which case you should have control (and be able to vote with them) while they are in escrow...
-
I think joe explained it to me once, itโs like a smart contract in escrow?
-
You're going to have to ask jdog and the more technical people - i'm just learning it all now too
-
The funds are taken out of your personal address balance and escrowed on the DEX in the order.... This is so that the funds in orders are guaranteed to be available as advertised... otherwise things could go haywire if I put up an order to sell 1000 XCP, left the balance in my address, and then sent the 1000 XCP elsewhere... the order would go to execute, see I don't have 1000 XCP in my balance, and the order would fail.... XCP is escrowed by the DEX in a non-custodial way (no node operators can get access to your funds)... only way funds come off the DEX is if order is cancelled, order executes, or order expires... at which point any escrowed funds come back to your balance
-
It is non custodial, but the protocol itself escrows things
-
25,435.24124599 XCP currently escrowed on the DEX.
-
-
-
I see! Thx for explaining.
-
-
It looks to have dropped since the delistings... 13% at bittrex... 5% at polo.. you can see the holders list at https://xchain.io/asset/XCP
-
Effectively a non-issue.
-
as a whole but not necessarily for the individual - regaurdless it's not up for debate or being changed before the next election - so if you want to vote with all you xcp get it off the dex ๐
-
-
-
Hopefully more than in the past.
-
The less my votes count, the more pleased I will be.
-
How are those numbers going down? I wonder where they are trading it, and for what?
-
From user withdrawals.
-
-
Users can no longer withdraw from Poloniex. They sometimes give one last chance but then the balance is out of circulation.
-
-
In that case, see first response "from user withdrawals"
-
-
I see no argument but okay..
-
A little more than 68,000 votes in the last election, which means this amount is 37% of total votes cast in the last election. No one received more than 25,000 votes in that election. This is a significant figure, especially considering these are CounterParty's active user base.
-
This assumes all escrowed XCP would otherwise be used to vote. This doesnโt ring true to me.

I canโt tell if your using your donation as a bargaining chip to get elected or to show your true passion for CP.
It doesnโt matter either way.
Your 1,000 xcp will make no difference in the grand scheme of things.
Donโt do and retract your statement. If you donโt want to, thatโs fine. But if you do, I have no problem with it.
Iโm looking out for you, even if you are not fond of me.
But youโre a grown man, so ultimately, you make the decision. -

I'm not sure where you got that from. I'm fond of anybody who has things to say about counterparty so you fall into that grouping.
Rich is a tricky word. I aim to be philosophically rich and rich in ideas. Being fiat rich is different than being xcp rich and BTC rich.
Investing in something I believe in seems to be a no-brainer which is why I choose to donate towards the cause I'm fighting for. -
We all on the same no matter what dissenion oocurs. Golden day family

Great time for us truly...

Thank you saying this... I mentioned maturity in a dialogue and works for this exact reason here..... I am sure many of us here have future generation to help with and plan for
-
Yes. Thatโs why I said donโt donate your xcp. I will get rich people to do it for us!
-
-
Well that's yet to be seen and quite vague statement in the meantime I'll do what I can and contribute what I have cuz I'd rather put my money where my mouth is

Sounds good keep plugging away

Why would you discourage any donations to the foundation? Everyone has others to care for, and foundations are not supported just by rich people.
-
How are you going to get rich people to donate? Is this already on the forum?
-
Especially when he's already discouraging donations
-
He is going to bully rich people

Iโm going to do whatever it takes to get the job done!!!!

Hmm I just noticed @SaSHA_256 posted on the counterpartytalk thread that she no longer wants to run 4 days ago, but I see her in the list of nominated candidates. Can someone please clarify if she is still running or not, so that people don't waste votes on a non-candidate? @jdogresorg do you have any confirmation of candidate status for Sasha? I think it would be a shame if she was no longer running after list of candidates was already published.
-
Hahaha love it dawg ๐๐บ๐ธ
-
Ohhhh nooo! Why!
-

yes she is awesome and I wish also she would reconsider, she already got a bunch of votes. But hopefully we can get a statement from her by tomorrow to clarify cause we need to know either way which candidates are really running and should remove her from the list in case she really is withdrawing so not to confuse voters.

I revise... we need jdog๐๐๐

Do i have any votes? ๐
